It’s so funny-I was just wondering about stenciling with watercolor last night and then first off here is your tutorial with beautiful snowflakes! Thank you! I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season. I’m looking forward to seeing what beautiful creations you come up with in 2025!❤
Isn’t that how it always goes, you think about something and then it shows up in your feed? I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Happy Holidays and Happy Painting! Im exciting for a new year of playing and creating with you all
Glad you like it! I hope you give it a try Helene~ I have found stencils in the dollar bin a Target, the Dollar Tree and of course Amazon :-) Have fun!
I thought it felt so wintery, (Ive never lived in the snow ..) January is always a very wintery time here Southern California style, if we hade snowflakes I imagine they would be magical like these~ And lots of bling :-) Have fun with it!
@DebbieWalkerArtmadeeasy , well if only I had stencils lol! If I did, I thought one would be of purple and pinks. Another in blues and another in the turkey blue and greens ! And I would use silver metallic! ❄️❄️❄️
Oh gf, I wish you lived closer I would gladly share what I have with you. They are quite fun and I did see them at the .99 store, which now I think is Dollar Tree? Sometimes in the 1.00 bins at Target too!
WOW! That is the only word I can think of to discribe this. I love when you get so excited about painting. This will be next years card for sure. Hugs! XOXO
Love- happy to revisit WC and stencils, and try gouache, WC inks while I am at it. Silver mirror so under used- what great “ Fun this will be” oh and to mist.. I need a posted note lol 🥰🎨
You too, and lots of fun with the misting technique! gouache is a fun medium, like a thicker more opaque watercolor yet can be diluted to behave similar to watercolors. Im always f dning fun th ings that have been in my art cabinet for years and bringing them back out again! Happy painting friend 😊. (what did we do before post it notes?) genius
I love this technique. Thank you for sharing. When I use stencils with ink stamping I spray the back of the stencil with pixie spray. It adheres the stencil without damaging the paper and also helps stop the ink from bleeding under the stencil.
I've heard of that, and had wondered how it works., I have a heck of a time getting the correct paint consistency so it doesn't seep under the stencil. Good to know!
Yes, that can work, although a sea sponge seems to put too much water for me, and seeps under the stencil. If you use a thicker consistency, or even acrylic or gouache. I was playing with a makeup sponge to apply the paint and that seemed to work, but wasted a lot of paint, (which I hate... lol) Great idea play with it and see if it works for you~ Have fun Melanie :-)
Hi- I have gold/ silver from MAB looking for other metallics WC I see there other colors… or do you have another company you recommend before I buy? Thanks I do have the mai lang that came in the pallet.. want some just a bit better 🤔
@@mariacohen5179 I can’t say enough about the MAB ‘s. All of their sets are wonderful She will send you test dots first if you want to try them. Tell her what you are looki bff for . I also like (secondly) the Paul Ruben’s set which is quite nice. amzn.to/4iLPYPJ I ebused Paul Ruben’s for years. I hope that helps There are other sets but to be honest very expensive and I don’t think (for me) worth the expense. Lisilinka which I recieved as a gift I hope that helps :) have fun! I love them!
Hi letitia, yes, it is a lot like watercolors, and you are right it would do well as its thicker for stencils. If I water them down enough they behave a lot like watercolors. Cant wait to try the new ones I just got from Meeden~ Lets play friend. :-)
@@kimlong692 here’s a good explanation of it (it’s really fun too) The bokeh effect in watercolor (also a technique in photography) is creating soft, out-of-focus circles or light spots in your painting, usually in the background. It is similar to the look of a blurry photograph where light creates gentle, glowing shapes. In watercolor, you can create this by blending soft washes of color and lifting lighter, circular shapes to represent the bokeh. I’ve used in dreamy soft backgrounds, like twinkling fairy lights, sunlight filtering through trees, or a soft-focus floral scene. The trick to a beautiful bokeh effect is keeping it soft, loose, and layered-letting the watercolor flow and blend naturally to create that magical glow!

That's the beauty of watercolor! So many choices in value and tools! Whatever is comfortable for you, the artist!
@ indeed!
With those huge stencils try reverse stenciling. I bet it would be great!
I thought about it, then ended up doing traditional stencil. It sure was fun!

Bocca effect? Was is that?
Hi Kim, No Bokeh here but that would be a perfect addition!
