- Barry Corbin starred as Maurice J. Minnifield in the hit television show, "Northern Exposure". In this video, I take a look at his career leading up to that show, and also share a little known story about his iconic Emmy nomination for that show's final season. Thanks for watching! #barrycorbin #northernexposure #classictvshows
We need shows like that again.
👍
Loved it. Watched every episode.
Thanks Dawn!
Great video. He was a magnificent, complex character on Northern Exposure.
Thanks!
I LOVE that Award Show anecdote! Thanks Stephen!
👍
He definitly adds a lot to what ever he is in.
Agreed!
Love the guy- great actor. Roscoe or Miniefield were my favorite roles of his.
👍
I remember him best from the movie War Games. Favorite line: "Hell, I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it'd help."
👍
Loved him in WAR GAMES.
Agreed!
From WarGames to No Country for Old Men to Killers of the Flower Moon and from Northern Exposure to One Tree Hill to Better Call Saul, Barry Corbin has brought enormous added value to any project whether it be film or TV. An amazing character actor who has never gotten the credit that he deserves. Glad he's still alive & well, he'll be turning 84 this October. Thanks so much for sharing, Steve! 👍🏻 I have another special suggestion for you. Would you please consider doing a profile of Marc Price, best known for playing Skippy Handelman, the nerdy best friend to Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox) & neighbor to the Keatons on Family Ties in a future video?
Thanks Tarrell! I’ve been thinking about doing a video on Mark Price for a while now, so I’ll have to bump that one up!
Loved Northern Exposure and Loved Barry's role in it. In 1994 he narrated a documentary called "Moon Shot", well worth watching just for his amazing narration. Too bad there doesn't seem to be a high quality version on the internet anywhere but there is a lower quality version here on YT.
👍
Lonesome dove was a grateful performance. But northern exposure was my fav.
I remember the Emmy story, and vaguely recall seeing a clip of the incident on UA-cam years ago.. I mostly remember seeing him prominently in the movie War Games… you sound so much like your brother btw.. It runs in the family I guess.. Any youtube competition?..🤣
There’s no competition! I love his channel and he helped me get started with my channel. I loved Barry Corbin in War Games!
@@stephensundstrom6379 I didn't think there was comp.. But you don't post as much as he does..and I find myself assuming it's him as I see you pop up..🤭
Wow. I've heard about Barry Corbin many times and he was just about everywhere when it came to starring in films and television series of all kinds. But yes, he was mostly known for starring as Maurice Minnifield in the hit television show titled "Northern Exposure" which ran from 1990 to 1995. Here is a little fun fact about Barry Corbin that I just found out. Did you actually know that Barry Corbin made a guest star appearance on M*A*S*H back in 1981? Barry Corbin had played a role of Sergeant Joe Vickers who was a pushy retention officer that came to the camp to persuade a depressed Maxwell Klinger as well as the rest of the staff members to extend their terms of service by re-enlisting and so forth. All of this had happened during the show's ninth season and it is on the seventh episode titled "Your Retention, Please". That was the one and only episode of M*A*S*H where Barry Corbin had starred in as a guest star but his appearance on M*A*S*H was very underrated. Other than that, this wonderful actor has been everywhere and he was a legendary star in many different ways. Great video as always.
Thanks John! I do remember that episode of M*A*S*H, and agree, he was great in it!
Steve: Yes I would say that Maurice Minnifield was his best role. Northern Exposure was ground breaking Dramedy. Screams for a reboot
But I dont think it could be done. Loved that he wore a NASA hat in every episode. Corbin was also great in The Closer, playing guest role as Brenda Lee Johnson's father.
👍
What about Lonesome Dove?? I think that role is the main reason he got inducted into the cowboy hall of fame thing. Wow. I can’t believe this wasn’t mentioned. Look it up!!
I’ll definitely look it up! Thanks!
@@stephensundstrom6379 I did love seeing him on better call Saul. One of the best shows ever!!
