In this video, I talk about a couple of NBA teams that are stuck in no man's land. They aren't realistic contenders, but they also have too much talent...so they can't tank either. Hope you enjoy!

I feel like the Wizards fall into this category
RB6 Portland yep and Portland
I agree with you beal and wall are superstar level players but thats all they have
Totally agree
they need to get rid of Gortat bum ass and Otto Porter gotta become a scorer
Jon Swavyy yes that’s what I been saying for the longest he is a big man that can’t do shit
The Batum signing is the worst in recent memory, I could see the logic in paying Dwight that much. (sort of) Also M.J continues to have an influence on underwhelming draft pics.
DFLOW's NBA Talk
MJ is a terrible GM
Sandernista he's not the gm wtf
Sandernista He's not the GM, he's the Owner you moron.
Back in the 90's Jordan owned the Hornets by destroying them in the playoffs and now he literally owns the Hornets and destroys them with terrible decision making, haha.
Kira Did Nothing Wrong. He's not the GM but he makes or approves all the major decisions. He is a defacto GM.
in nba 2k no playoff team is a no mans land damn even the 8th seed can make it to the finals
Drake Ovo Ao true I once got swept by the 8th seed grizzled in MyGm
In my playthroughs , teams with all stars don't even make the playoffs. I've seen teams with Durant, Lebron, Anthony Davis, and curry not even be an 8th seed. In fact, Giannis is the only good player in my 2k
Foamposites I play fantasy draft on my Myleague and its even worse. Sometimes the championship team would be a random current player with 80-85 overall and the rest of the roster is auto generated late 2nd round draft picks. Its so bad Durant, Melo, Demar Derozan, and Paul George don't even make it on teams sometimes
can the Cavs beat the warriors in the finals in 2k?? tell me because I only have nba 2k11.
Drake Ovo fr
How to fix Hornets
-Trade Batum
-play Malik Monk more
-stop drafting tall white guys that can't ball
-tank
What does color of skin have to with anything??
Monk sniffing coca-cola buddy
This comment is old. All they need is a really good big that fits the teams time table and they’re straight.
1:54 Gotta love that defense
Hornets should’ve played Malik Monk more
What do you think we were thinking.... So glad we fired Clifford.
OKC Thunder will be on this list. Not yet but soon.
They should have traded westbrick, he is not a Championship calliber player
Shanks We need Westbrook more than anything. He's the face of the franchise
You ain't winning anything with that face of the franchise
exeterra He's all we got OK? I know he isn't really efficient but still
Shavon Suggs fucking stat padder should leave, pg13 has much more potential and is far by a better player and melo is ok but in this season, it isnt working
This video didnt age well
I thought it aged well
@@tylermazza8996 Uhhh
@@tylermazza8996 that was a massive choke
Tyler Mazza and the blazers
The combination of injuries and bad contracts put you in No Man's Land. The Grizzlies and Hawks are honorable mentions.
I like how he said LA Clippers future is bright 1 year later and now they’re a ring contender
Luv ya videos Andy!
Looking back at this video after 2019 free agency is crazy af
*Great video Andy Hoops! Keep up the great work!* 🔥👍👌😀
Dude, I always look forward to your videos! I literally had a similar argument with a friend of mine regarding the Blazers. Keep up the great work
"If Griffin could return to his former self"😂😭 Im weak
he is right tho. Griffin keeps getting hurt every season and that effects his game. He is nowhere as good as he was like in 2015.
He’s not wrong but I don’t think it will happen either. He’s too injury prone
He's spending more time with kendall jenner than working on his game.
KING ZENCO can't blame him
Petite Explication LOL
Hornets situation is because of Rich Cho. Probably one of the worst GM ever. Steve Clifford couldn’t develop players. Nicholas Batum is inconsistent. Cody Zeller is a bust and so MKG so thanks for those picks Cho. Even if we drafted Donavan Mitchell he wouldn’t have been a star on the Hornets. Malik Monk would of been good on any other team .
Man that must suck. If Hornets management is stupid enough to not draft Sexton than he can go to my Clippers.
Jake Smith plus having MJ as the owner must suck
I think Cody Zeller could still be a good player like Sabonis is or Indy.
MJ is ass at his job too. Bad organization top to bottom.
1 Survivor I hate to see the GOAT be the goat of ownership, and it surprises me to see the greatest competitor put together such un-competitive teams, but MJ deserves the blame. Too much golf and gambling, too many yes men, too little respect for people who might be competent, too stuck in his ways, plus having a new young wife and twins. I would love to see MJ turn into Jerry West but I don’t know if that will ever happen.
you're a really good youtuber . i learn a lot from these stories . keep up the good content 💯💯
Love ya videos ANDY !!! still amazing mate
Great video. Love your stuff
Dude, you've got everything right. You're doing a great job for a while, big thumbs up from Croatia 👍👍
LOL!!!! The worst prediction ever
The channel's looking good man! Video content is on point. I think the solution for teams in no man's land is to hire a quality GM. The Spurs RC Buford has managed to scout some of the best overseas talent around the world to help the Spurs stay relevant for tail end of Tim Duncan's career. Middle of the road small market teams can't bet on tanking and can't afford to trade for talent so their front office has to pick up the slack.
Great vid Andy!
Anyone watching when kawhi and pg13 are on the clippers
lol i love how literally one year after this video is made the clippers are one of the favorites for the championship.
Great video man, i feel like if we get a chance to meet someday we can talk about NBA allday
Yo Andy, love the videos!!! Could you do "What happened to Deron William from the Jazz and Nets?"
Bro D Howard was worth that money this year....he had a very good year under the radar...
Phike Not really
Anto plz explain how?
He put up good numbers. But his style of play doesn't win in the NBA now a day's. That's why the Hornets traded him
I hope Portland is on this list, cap is maxed out with terrible contracts (Leonard, turner) no trade peices, consistent 1st round exits including getting swept this year.
Edit:Nailed it,every point I said lol
Turner needs to go
They might make it to the conference finals this year.
Ultra instinct Grey This didn’t age well
...And they made the wcf
Andy always with top notch content
Its always a good day when andyhoops drops a vid
Andy once again successfully predicted the future. Clippers are arguably the best team in the west now, all thanks to Jerry West.
Great video, one of those blogs was mine 👀
The Atlanta hawks have been the definition of this ever since there existence
Jackson Payne they have the third pick tho. Collins and whoever they draft will be good
We escaped now
Erik Lerström nah its even worse to make it every year and go to the semis with no chance to go to the finals since you're going to be the 20 something pick
2015
Not true
@Andy Hoops: Your analysis and in-depth breakdowns in your videos is honestly better...sometimes a lot better than listening to the loudmouth nonsense coming out of ESPN analysts such as Stephen A. Smith or the jibberish from Fox Sports' Skip Bayless. Very well done!
Great video.
Liked it before watching
So glad you put Portland in there! The blazers do well enough every year to get middle/late first round picks and the contracts they pay mediocre players have handcuffed the organization. We need more talent around Dam to make the jump past the first/second round of the playoffs (if he sticks around...).
Almost 2 years later, the Clippers look like one of the favorites to win the title.
You can throw Washington in there too.
skywalkply1 Yep. Porter and Mahinmi's contracts are awful. They're in cap hell, their big men suck, and John Wall said on the court he and Beal hate each other. Plus the owner doesn't care about the mediocrity because the incompetent GM was just extended....again.
Signed,
A Sad Wizards Fan
Porter's contract sucks but I think he is a very tradeable asset. He's just 24 and the man can shoot. But his game will never grow behind Wall and Beal. I'd package Porter with Gortat and try to obtain DeAndre Jordan or Whiteside/Winslow. That would boost the Wizards' defense and infuse their roster with the athleticism Wall requests. They aren't totally fcked yet.
RicoSuaVe I completely agree, but nobody's gonna want Porter's contract. I mean the Nets might, but who will we get from the Nets?
Scott Anderson I'd shop Porter to The Heat or The Clippers only. The Nets would only be good for a salary dump. Idk what washington would get back from them other than cap space. Lol
I agree.
Absolutely right about the Blazers.
@Toronto "Not stuck in no man's land, stuck in Lebron's Land" Haha well played! I was thinking Nets could make the list, but I tell you their GM makes the most out of nothing. So you know they'll eventually be on the rise at some point and have potential.
I agree with you about my Blazers except for Mo he has so much potential in my opinion and has just struggled with injuries and some mental things but towards the end of the season he got the mental aspect down and if he stays healthy he's gonna be very good
Being a Hardcore Phoenix Suns fan has been the toughest thing for me in the past eight years, but I will admit that having that First Overall Pick will help out so much!
Having been a long time Mavs fan, I know how it feels to have your team be a middling team especially after 2011. Your day will come my friends.
Andy the goat 🐐
One year later portland is in the conference finals lol
How bout now 😂😂😂😂😂🤣
“There’s no way they could contend in the west” as the clippers are now the first seed in the west lmao rip
look at them now
Still haven’t made the conference finals
im a hornets fan and i love my team, but being a fan sometimes is like torture. we have one of the best point guards in the nba who has remained loyal to us and said he doesnt want to be traded. Yet we've failed to surround him with the talent to win.
Glad you mentioned the heat, as a heat fan I’m confused as to why they threw all this money away
Andy, you should do a video on top 15 active NBA players who jerseys will or should be retired
I feel like there are actually 4 levels in the NBA. The very top of the league with teams like the Warriors, Rockets, Raptors and Celtics, The very bottom with the suns, hawks, mavericks, and magic, teams in no man's land like the ones mentioned, but also an unmentioned section of the league, the middle ground playoff teams like the Trail Blazers, The Pelicans, The Bucks, and the Thunder. These teams aren't really contenders, they're not terrible, but they're not quite in no man's land. They can make good moves so they set an actual course for the future unlike the no man's land teams. They are probably the most interesting because they can fall into no man's land, rebuilding, or ascend to contenders.
Big fan
Andy you could make a video on Bucks-Sixers 2001 Conspiracy!
Liked before I even watched it
Wizards are also in this mix imo. They're a solid playoff team, but they have little cap space until 2021 and their draft picks aren't going to do much. No way they win a championship in the next few years, and they won't blow the team up either because Wall Beal and Porter can't be traded because of their contracts (Beal possibly, but no one is going to offer multiple first rounders for him).
Erik Lerström True, I was thinking the Lakers if Lonzo doesn't pan out, maybe a team like the Nuggets as well.
I’m a pistons fan and Tobias played great here and Blake was doing good and Ish was great when Reggie was injured but I hope Ish gets a jump shot and Reggie Bullock was one of the best this season and hope he’s a all star some time. I hoping we can get Kemba (sorry hornets fans)
Yup, loved Tobias. Rather have him than Brick Griffin
not Sauer pistons is trash, we spent the last 11 years fighting for a 8th seed playoff spot when they should of been tanking like the rest of the trash teams like suns,twolves,76ers ... Ect now all those teams done passed us up and we stuck in the same spot smh
Me to Tobias was my favorite and Ish is a God
tanking is risky tho. you don't wanna tank
the problem is that they cant provide i passing pg for griffin, hes shootin too much. if hes in a fitting system i guess he can still be lethal. hope for a great coach
you know whats crazy i remember that 2016 pistons cavs series for being the most competitive sweep ive ever seen lol they lost every game by like 5 or less lmao
The Denver Nuggets have been stuck in “no mans land” the entire length of the franchise. The past 20 seasons alone they were between the 5th-10th seed 10 times (Not horrible, but not bad enough to get high draft picks) and between the 11th-15th seed 6 times. Out of those 20 seasons, only gained a top 10 draft pick 4 times. Two of those ended up busts and one was Carmelo. Still optimistic with the current roster though!
What these teams need is good scouting and a coach who can develop their talents. This is also a reason why I think the NBA needs 4 rounds in their draft instead of two, because then it would be easier to find a diamond in the rough that could save some cap space.
The problem with a lot of teams that enter No Man's Land, is that they scramble to try and save their team once an important piece leaves like cp3, and remain competitve, without laying out ANY sort of plan for improvement beyond that point
From 1994-2001, the Cleveland Cavaliers were one of these "no man's land" teams. They weren't bad enough to get a high draft pick, or good enough to get the 8th seed in the playoffs. It wasn't until the 2002/03 season that the Cavs tanked so hard they ended up with the #1 pick in the draft and got LeBron James. And now you know the rest of the story....
the reggie jackson trade was bad but the blake griffin trade was JUST HORRIBLE the pistons don't have a draft pick thats bad
andy you need to make a video about griffin because that's the weirdest case in modern nba
fast forward to 2019, the Kawhi-era in LAC has began, DRose is playing well in Detroit and the Hornets are... uhm...
This was a freezing cold take
Do you think you could make a video about the summer of 2016 where teams were giving out stupid contracts to mediocre players ? I think it’ll make for an interesting video
Wait, do people think the raptors are the worst 1 seed of all time? Hell no, not when there was a 1 seed that lost to the 8th seeded knicks.
Also the Mavericks lost one year to the "We Believe" warriors.
Because baron Davis went beast
94 Sonics down to the Nuggets
The 60 win Hawks too.
KING ZENCO Most W's fans dont even remember the "We Believe" Warriors. Baron Davis, Matt Barnes, and Stephen Jackson man...
9:13 OHHHH IM DEAD
Gotta Add my Miami Heat to this List too.
-They Overpaid for role players like James Johnson, Dion Waiters, KO, Tyler Johnson
-Star player Goran Dragic is just decent.
-Draft picks Justise Winslow and Bam Adebayo are not gonna lead us over the hump
-Our rotation is full of Decent players who all can get playing time
-Spo is too good of a coach to tank.
Most of these contracts are at least for another 3 seasons
I’ve got hardwood amino and I’m not disappointed
thanks kd
I beg to differ about the Raptors. They are stuck in “No Man’s Land”, though they are much better than the teams mentioned. LeBron aside, they just aren’t good enough to win the championship. Let’s say they did get past the Cavs and then Celtics. They stand no chance against the West. They’ve hit their ceiling and there is not much they can do to improve.
cavs are in no mans land cause they cant be the west then
Erik Lerström
Well, that’s the unfortunate reality of the NBA. Only about 3-5 teams have a legitimate shot at the title at any given time. The NBA has never really had any parity, except during the 70s. So yeah, unfortunately about 26 teams are indeed stuck in No Man’s Land.
And guess what they improved
Soooooo..... about this......
Well at least he didn’t mention my team , the nets, I know where still suffering from the Paul Pierce and Kevin Garrett, hopefully next season we can go to the playoffs and build from there
Love how the clippers are currently 4th in the west
I think a way to avoid tanking is having all teams that don't make the playoffs been able to get top picks, that way those teams that just need one more star to become contenders have a better chance to improve
Not sure about the blazers on the list. I feel like next season they’ll do better in the playoffs. But on the other side I totally agree with those bs contacts.
2 years later 2020 kawhi and pg on clippers with pat bev and on the bench lou willams and montreazl harrel and with improving players like ivaca zubac and patrick patterson
Hey... good video
Andy has a legitimate chance of getting the top ball 🏀 subs
I personally think Miami is the 4th no mans land team, with Portland as an honourable mention. Nice quip about the Raptors at the end, but LEBRONS GONE 😁 good vid.
This is how the 76ers became what it is today. The team was the 8th seed in like 2012 and they were facing the Bulls. They won, but soon lost. So they hired Sam Hinkie, and they are an exciting young team for the next 5 years. They had Jrue and Iggy, but they weren't going to do anything. So, they traded them, hired Hinkie, built a younger team, lost more games, and drafted.
This is pretty common in the NBA. It's the reason players like McGrady and his cousin Carter never won a ring in their primes. GMs mess up the contract situation and can't surround the best players with actual effective role players or secondary stars.
I know what it's like being a fan of a team like this as a Carolina Hurricanes fan. Took 9 years to finally get lucky and win the lottery.
Damn, my man Blake has 11 injuries on his shoulders ? Damn !
Im watching this when the clippers have kawhi and pg
Could you make a video about how good was Kevin Johnson.
The end of the video was a perfect opportunity to use Lebronto in a sentence 😂
Fast forward may 2019 blazers make wcf
Fast forward July clippers get kawhi and pg and kemba leaves Celtics
Fast forward your Blazers are trash lol. They absolutely were in no man's land btw. They never had a chance at a finals appearance.
@@anthonyhutchins2300 ong, got swept by a absent KD/Iguodala Warriors team, they had no chance
Anthony Hutchins You a Lakers fan now bitch?
In the East, there are only three teams whose trajectory you could be comfortable with: Philly, Boston, and Cleveland (if LeBron stays). In the West, you have GSW and Houston. That means there are 25 teams that are so far in No-Man's Land, are just bad, or you just don't believe are ready to compete until they get better personnel. Maybe this draft and the next will make you feel good about some teams' upside, but who else do you think is one or two moves away from competing for a Finals appearance?
The NBA really could use some talent distribution around the league.
Portland Next Month
Neil Oshley: Hey Portland!
Portland: Yeah
Oshley: I got the dynamite, we gonna blow in 5,4,3,2,1
CJ goes to Minnesota and Lillard to Cleveland
Portland: What's left?
Oshley: Bad Contracts, maybe Nurkic, some Cavs role players and Wiggins
Heat fit perfectly in this category Dwyane and goran not letting them picks they traded all picks, and they’re not good enough, idk what Pat Riley is doing anymore
I think the hornets should trade Kemba Walker
Portland’s like 3rd in west rn sooooo
the wizards are definitely in that category their win total is consistently in the mid 40s and they don’t seem to be getting better or worse just there
will the pacers be contenders next year if the trade for 23rd pick, tj leaf ,and cory joseph for kemba walker
As a Pistons fan, watching the Pistons take one step forward then two steps back every year since they traded away Chauncey has been hell 🙃
Dwight's contract kinda makes sense to me, it's the Batum deal that's really bad for the hornets. Dwight has shown flashes of an all star this past season.
I made a similar blog in Hardwood Amino including most of the teams
Hey Nuggets thought Donavan Mitchell was a waste of a lottery pick(14th pick) so they traded him and look what happened 🤷♂️
Just Trizzy Denver will eventually be bett3r
Trey lyles played decent
The Nuggets NEVER would have had Mitchell. Utah picked Mitchell. The two teams agreed to the trade before the pick was made. The only reason Mitchell was technically a Denver selection was because the NBA does not approve draft night trades until after the draft is over. So Denver had to turn in the pick for Utah. If Denver had kept the pick they wouldn't have picked Mitchell. They were looking for a forward. That's why they traded for Lyles/Lydon.
The HEAT are in no mans land forsure. Pat Riley paid all these nobodies hella money, he’s an overrated GM. Dwade brought lebron in Miami not pAt Riley.
I know it seemed like that on paper but they really weren't as you can see now. Miami will always attract free agents and the pieces they had were actual good role players. With a star they will click.
