@@shaydaslays A tenant that pays rent, she only practiced for an hour and the woman knew she practiced opera she just wanted someone to rent the room and didn't think it through and ended up having buyers remorse.
Not to generalize, but most Americans have a lack of appreciation for opera. Even Judge Milian's "gun finger in the head" zany reaction is typical, though may have been taken as offensive, along with the "belting" reference to which the plaintiff objected.
Singing opera and practicies and warming up is two different things! 4 notes of "A" would drive me crazy. But I can hear she has a good voice. And the judges told her twice she had a beautiful voice.. Its Just the warm up and practecy every day that can be desturbing.
The judge was referencing the repeated over and over practice of just notes. That could be monotonous and annoying. It wasn't opera singing. But, if course, the tenant had the right to practice an hour a day!
I lived in a condo building that had an opera singer who insisted on opening her windows when she practiced. It was a courtyard building and the noise was awful. Singing is one thing doing scales is a whole different thing.
Morning person and night owl clashing personalities... landlady actually doesnt like sharing her space but needs the money or is a Karen in the making...
Ego was going on. Landlord doesn’t understand the difference between being a queen vs being a landlord. The plaintiff didn’t show her enough deference so she made it about the singing.
Having dealt with tenant the last few years, if them signing opera for one hour a day is the worst thing they did, I would purchase earplugs for this time, if neccesaey.
Just use earplugs, people. I live in a 17 story tower in concrete. I don't have one specific neighbor that is noisy, but there's always going to be someone using a drill. So I sleep with earplugs. When even that isn't enough, I put my earlplugs and my headphones with my music above that. Someone could be drilling in my living room, I'd be sleeping in my room.
Good on Nicola. She's a beauty who is lovely, talented, gracious and polite, unlike the defendant who sells herself as immature and entitled. Nicola deserves far better than this piece of work for a roomie. IMO
She should have informed the defendant about her practices. However the defendant didn’t handle this problem well, especially with a real estate license.

i think she should pay the plaintiffs rent for the remaining months she agreed to give her a home. Such a rude way to treat someone visiting our country.
How hard is it to come to an agreement about times that either the singing or the meditation and Olga happens? Like my God this should have been such an easy thing to manage. Shows how people can’t talk to each other anymore.
4:45 🔫 I thought that was rude of the judge. I know she was trying to be funny. By putting the plaintiff on the spot to sing and then doing the suidice gun to head reference to hearing her sing was rude. The plaintiff sounded lovely especially without a warm up. The defendant's laugh showed how immature they were both being about the situation. The problem clearly was with the controlling defendant! 🙄
The defendant was in the wrong, the tenant had all the right to practice in the room she's renting especially during normal morning hours. The defendant wanted power and because it was her home she thought she could bully her and then take her money.
From what I know, here in Canada, anytime you do more than chill in the house (run a home based business, have a dog, practice singing/playing an instrument, etc) you should mention your requirements while applying for the place, as you are asking someone to limit their freedoms to accomodate your choises. It sounds aweful put that way, but it is about managing expectations... What if the plaintiff had tenitis? Should she have to suffer for 60 days because the defendant did not mention her singing needs?
@@brendenvarty3266 true, but I have yet to find a tennant legality that allows "entering a contract under false pretenses" which is the legal action a landlord can claim such acts under. Learned that due to owning a dog. Basically, the concept I was stating is that one should explain their uncommon or jargon based needs while applying for housing.
@@brendenvarty3266 true, but if your dog is a yappy bitch (legal term), they can refer to the fact that you did not warn them before hand as a reason for eviction. The dog is not the issue, but the issues your particular dog is causing, such as the yapping causing your neighbour to fear passing your door in the hallway to get to their appartment.
All they had to do was agree on what hours she could practice. I'm sure the plaintiff would have accommodated her. The problem people have with sharing their hoimes/appartments is that they think being the owner makes them the ultimate authority. It doesn't. When someone is paying you to live in your home they have the same rights as any other tenant.
How sad to travel to the United States and wind up in court over a living situation. I wish both of these ladies well. And regarding the defendant, maybe it would be helpful going forward if she advertises for a roommate with a quiet lifestyle.
Is that guy outside an idiot? "noise ordinance" WOW! Yes, she has a right to sing as a tenant she appeared reasonable and considerate and was not afforded the same. The defendant appeared to be rude; her own statement shows that! She also was hesitant in her responses which tells me she thinking her responses over. However, when you're telling the truth one should be able to recall without hesitation for the most part. Moreover, the plaintiff has no obligation to say hello to her! The defendant was being a bully as she wanted to exercise her own liberties (playing her music, yoga, working from home in common spaces etc.) but didn't afford the plaintiff the same civil liberties! She also wanted courtesy extended to her from the plaintiff but didn't give her the courtesy of letting her know that there was someone else who was going to be moving in.
No. There are no rights at play here. She does not have a right to indulge in disturbing the peace of the house. However there could have been a peaceful arrangement made. I love singing but practicing those scales every morning would have been annoying.
Someone who herself is a DJ, rents to an opera singer and thinks she won't practice daily??? The fact the defendant stated she "I no longer feel safe here" is telling of her entitled attitude...

Not to generalize, but most Americans have a lack of appreciation for opera. Even Judge Milian's "gun finger in the head" zany reaction is typical, though may have been taken as offensive, along with the "belting" reference to which the plaintiff objected.
I found that to be disrespectful of the Judge to do that.
I think the judge was annoyed by the high pitched repetitive noise. She might not mind actual opera music. You are assuming.
Singing opera and practicies and warming up is two different things! 4 notes of "A" would drive me crazy. But I can hear she has a good voice. And the judges told her twice she had a beautiful voice.. Its Just the warm up and practecy every day that can be desturbing.
I enjoy opera. But to hear a scale and practice notes for over an hour would drive anyone crazy. Don't be an elitist.
The judge was referencing the repeated over and over practice of just notes. That could be monotonous and annoying. It wasn't opera singing. But, if course, the tenant had the right to practice an hour a day!
La la laaaaa laaa lalalalalala 🎶🎶omg I would die 😂
Same 😩😩😩😩
XD I would install sound cancelling walls ... Oh seriously I would die if I had to hear that EVERY, SINGLE, DAY!!!
I would love it. I will sing scales with her.
@@justjared2009 What if she doesn't want you to sing scales with her?
I would have been honored to have an Opera singer for a roommate.
Plaintiff was precious! I'd love an opera singer roommate
Plaintiff wanted an “all American experience” boy did she get one😭😭🤣
She's someone who should not have roommates. Some personalities need to be in control, which is fine... if you live alone.
I lived in a condo building that had an opera singer who insisted on opening her windows when she practiced. It was a courtyard building and the noise was awful. Singing is one thing doing scales is a whole different thing.
There had to have been something else going on. Its way too petty to kick her out over her practicing. An hour a day and that's it?
It’s just buyers remorse
Morning person and night owl clashing personalities... landlady actually doesnt like sharing her space but needs the money or is a Karen in the making...
Petty describes the defendant perfectly.
Defendant shot herself in the foot! LOL
Agree! I think she (defendant) was a witch too!!
For small claims court in England, check out Judge Rinder.
I love him
Thank you!
He is so adorable 🥰
The plaintiff seems like such a sweet person.
Girl, that Yoga and Meditation aren't working, you're not doing the work on yourself. I wish a lot of sucess to the opera singer
I don't think she does yoga. She's got such a mean aura 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂

What a nice lady! She didn't even want to speak ill of her after all this.
And this the first time this dude was nice to both! Lol
Yey finally a UK lass and she won
🏴✊🏽❤️
Good on Nicola. She's a beauty who is lovely, talented, gracious and polite, unlike the defendant who sells herself as immature and entitled.
Nicola deserves far better than this piece of work for a roomie. IMO
plaintiff NEEDS! her own apartment!
Absolutely.
She was only in NY for 3 months tho. That would be hard to find
@@monikathomas4985 yep
She should have informed the defendant about her practices. However the defendant didn’t handle this problem well, especially with a real estate license.
Only if she are able to live in the U.S. for a long period of time 🤷🏾♀️ she clearly stated she was only here for 3 months for AUDITIONS
Crunchy hair is so gross , what's up with that home perm
Lmao! I was over here wondering if it’s a perm because I’ve learned that a perm for us means straight hair & the opposite for white people.
Ikr ! I had flashbacks of teenager days with lots of Aussie Scrunch gel in the purple bottle, the smell and everything, and could practically feel how it felt to scrunch the hair🤏 in my hands 🤌LMAO 🤣
She could be my alarm clock.
It would be annoying to listen to that every day! They should have an agreement on what time was good for both.
Wouldn't be annoying for me. I've been an opera fan for over fifty years now. Sounds like Heaven.
This is hilarious! Why would you rent to an opera singer if you meditate and light candles and shyt? Lol
every time someone tells me they're going to move in with a roommate (or, god forbid, multiple roommates), I advised them to spin up youtube and watch Judge Judy and The People's court episodes about roommate issues.
i think she should pay the plaintiffs rent for the remaining months she agreed to give her a home. Such a rude way to treat someone visiting our country.
Defendant needs to just live alone
when Harvey interviews the people watching on the sidewalk, seems like that last woman who he held the microphone to would be a MUCH kinder landlady!
Her daughters really do sing. They're called the Schlesinger sisters.
Thanks for the info.
William G hey cutie 😘😘
I guess you won't be saying 🤷 ASAP any more.😅🤣
She learned dat ASAP 🤣👍🏽
She can sing for an hour a day jeez🙄
How hard is it to come to an agreement about times that either the singing or the meditation and Olga happens? Like my God this should have been such an easy thing to manage. Shows how people can’t talk to each other anymore.
I’m glad the Plaintiff won
The defendant is absolutely crazy and stuck up
The moment the defendant walked in with a smirk on her face...a karen smirk
Bloody Karen! I immediately disliked her soon as I saw the smug look on her face.
Plaintiff should have told her what she does and needs to sing. I would be upset not knowing it. The sound would drive me nuts.
She can sing.....😍😍😍😍😍
1:26 the woman in the left is like..ohh a royalty!
Told her to go on the roof😂😂😂😂🥱🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️. I would too that voice is super irritating
The plaintiff was the definition of grace under pressure though. She's a class act all around.
I thought it was rude, too. And I hate the gun to head suicide gesture.
Canada does not have one set of laws governing tenant rights. It varies by province/territory.
@@Maninawig In Toronto, the landlord cannot legally put a no pets clause in the lease. Any such clause is void, even if signed.
Condo boards are a different game
@@brendenvarty3266 true, but if your dog is a yappy bitch (legal term), they can refer to the fact that you did not warn them before hand as a reason for eviction. The dog is not the issue, but the issues your particular dog is causing, such as the yapping causing your neighbour to fear passing your door in the hallway to get to their appartment.
I love how the judge preps her tone and shouts ZERO!😂
She gave her a 2 weeks notice and complained that she had to pay her rent…DONT EVICT HER
All they had to do was agree on what hours she could practice.
She wants a roomate with a quiet lifestyle but she herself does not have a quiet lifestyle since she wants to play her DJ music!
Aww the plaintiff seems like a sweet woman
Glad Milian stopped the plaintiff from stating that she left the day AFTER rent was due... She would end up having to pay the whole month..
No, she was saying she left the day before rent was due.
Does anyone else see Pauly D little brother in the audience behind the plaintiff
At this point, i wanna know how many children does the judge has 😂😂😂 she always bring up “i am mother of three ……..”
I can barely live with my own children 🤣
Lol you got teenagers too? I hear you girl.
Someone who herself is a DJ, rents to an opera singer and thinks she won't practice daily??? The fact the defendant stated she "I no longer feel safe here" is telling of her entitled attitude...
