Ya! I absolutely loved him in that movie, too. I understand that he only accepted that role under one condition: that his character would never do anything evil.
Richard Reyes Totally agree, that opening scene was unbelievable, and it continues in the next town...that character is so off-beat but believable...so many great performances in that movie from Foxx, DiCaprio, Jackson, et. al. and he still steals large parts of that movie.
When Jimmy says he is the only one who hates the 80's, Waltz is saying the 80's were bad and people who didn't hate them like him don't remember them well enough. His way of turning it back on jimmy and saying in that case i'm the only intelligent one.
He actually started in doing radioplays for children. It’s called „Wir entdecken Komponisten“, We discover composers. He played the role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I love this radioplays when I was a child and I started to listen to them again.
2 Oscars, 3 Golden Globe nominations winning 2 with a possibility of winning another, 2 Baftas, 2 screen actors guild, a Cannes Film Festival Award for best actor and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 5 years in Hollywood and that is underrated ? He is not underrated and is quite respected in the industry. What is going on is that he is being typecast which is a shame but I still think he will win another Oscar.
I have incredible respect for this man. He reminds me a bit of Daniel Day Lewis in the way that he is so clearly brilliant, that even though he acts down to earth, he just quietly exudes excellence.
Christoph is one of those guys who would be extremely politely tell you to go to hell and you'd feel honored and thank him for his good advice and actually go to hell.
Christof Waltz is brilliant. He might not be as widely known and famous as Hollywood actors but his performances are Art at its best. He is Europoean after all, don't care much about all that hollywood glamour and still Hollywood loves him, 2 Oscars! What's there not to love, pure talent is difficult to neglect.
+bla dadadadad Yes, me and apparently 20 other folks who clearly got what I meant and weren't looking out for desperate online trolling. I am sorry for your life. :)
BeatlEPMJo oh yes of course, 20 people agreed with you, so you must have been making sense.. LOL. thanks for answering my question and thanks for you empathy, but my life is pretty good my dear :)
My favorite part of this is the fact Tarantino 100% bought into how extremely cynical Jimmy's persona is and *actually* set an ambush for him for sneaking out of his movie screening.
My favorite part about Quentin will always be how unapologetically excites he is about his work. Waltz describing what it’s like to read a script in front of him makes him seem like such an eager kid at heart that it’s no wonder everyone who works with him loves him. The man’s a maniac and has more than a few screws loose, and that’s exactly why he’s so great.
Morgan Freeman's voice is a bit more powerful. Well, was. He's getting old, and I think it is starting to affect his voice after all of this time. Shame, his voice acting was always incredible.
the way Waltz described Quentin letting him read his script, reminds me of a son showing his dad some new idea hoping for his dad to be just as enthusiastic about it
I am smiling through the interview, primarily on Waltz's answers, until "You the only one who hated the eighties!," - "I'm the only one who remember the eighties!" got me laughing aloud. Terrific comeback.
I have a lot of respect for this man,he is brilliant. I absolutely love his accent although he is from Germany/Austria he has a little American in his accent. Also he grew up in a family that did acting for a living so he was bound to be it.
I'm constantly waiting for him to introduce his horses to whomever he's talking to. "Mr. Bond, I am Ernst Stavro Blofeld and these are my schetland ponies, Jaws and Oddjob"
This is probably the only interview I've watched of Mr Waltz that is actually not awkward, most of the rest are just ridiculous where stupid interviewers are not getting along with him. Really, bravo Jimmy Kimmel, bravo.
They did another interview and that one was painfully awkward, about the 4th of July I think, which is a shame, since Kimmel usually does interviews well. I think the topic of conversation plays a huge role in how the interview goes. Kimmel did a really good job in this one, but the other one was... not good.. but I think that one was also deleted from his youtube page and re-uploaded by someone else.
Then I definitely don't want to watch those... I felt that even this one was painful to watch. Waltz is just too authentic to "bullshit"... It's refreshing.
***** I couldn't believe it had been that long either but apparently that episode aired in April 2004. Although, I just read that Tarantino didn't actually direct it, they only made it seem that way by incorporating his style and Tarantino played along.
oh, my goodness!!! I can't get enough of Mr. Waltz!!! he's so sweet, and handsome, what a nice contradiction between he and Hans Landa!!! Brilliant, too boot!!!!

I can't decide if his voice is scary or comforting.
scaringly comforting
thats probably why hes been cast as blofeld
I can't wait...
S OK i think more comfortingly scary
The answer is yes.
If Christoph Waltz does another movie made by Quentin Tarantino, he'll win another Oscar for sure. He's such a great actor.

I loved him in Django, and then despised him in Inglorious. He's a BRILLIANT actor
00Mindi00 he'd make a brilliant Bond villain
badpostie he's already been one
Yes, but it was such a waste of talent. Has to be the worst Bond movie in decades.
00Mindi00 my exact thoughts
Heavily disagree, thought he was incredible in both but even more so in Inglorious.
Waltz was brilliant in Django.
Ya! I absolutely loved him in that movie, too. I understand that he only accepted that role under one condition: that his character would never do anything evil.
As in racist lol but good point
Better in inglourious basterds
We are all entitled to put own opinion, I get that! However, Hans opening scene when he first encounters Django and has the shootout is magnificent.
Richard Reyes
Totally agree, that opening scene was unbelievable, and it continues in the next town...that character is so off-beat but believable...so many great performances in that movie from Foxx, DiCaprio, Jackson, et. al. and he still steals large parts of that movie.
His accent is perfect.
That's because it has a hint of German.
Sahaj Amatya he's austrian
Bruce Wayne Austria is just a overly confident German region tbh
Zoe S the Hans Landa's character is awesome of fantastic simply my favourite on lnglourious basterds, also his accent is very well

2 oscars, pretty underrated

Christoph Waltz and Quentin Tarantino Watching movies together and having dinner that's so cute beautiful friends I love them.
Karen Austen for me Christoph more than an actor, an artist of the interpretation the last diamond discovered by Tarantino
I have incredible respect for this man. He reminds me a bit of Daniel Day Lewis in the way that he is so clearly brilliant, that even though he acts down to earth, he just quietly exudes excellence.

Nicely put.
Christoph Waltz is far more interesting in that he doesn't just pick Oscar bait roles.
@@Whoa802 They wouldn't be "Oscar baits" without him.
DDL isn't nearly as engaging to interview. Much more reserved mannerisms. Answers the question and doesn't really have much else interaction.
