After so many years of me working on a Mac finally someone explains this feature in a way that it actually isn't confusing anymore but actually seeming rather worthwile!
Thanks, Gary, for a complete, including settings, video on Spaces/Desktops PROFESSIONALLY done. Having done dozens of professional software training videos myself, I can appreciate a pro and focus on learning rather than cursing under my breath as someone stumbles around the subject, obviously unprepared. I have subscribed and you will be my first reference for any OS X issues going forward. THANK YOU!
Joining the chorus to say what a helpful tutorial this is! Spent so many years thinking I’d never get the hang of multi-desktops but I’m gonna give it a try now.
OH MY Garlic!! After having used mac computers for more than a decade, how did I not know about these shortcuts!! This is Gold!!!! thank you so much for your tutorial!!!! You saved me great deal of time and increased my productivity!! thank you thank you thank you!! one of the most useful videos I came across on UA-cam! I'm subscribing to your channel immediately!
You are amazing! Thank you for explaining everything so clearly - not a wasted word. In an ideal world you would be sat alongside me as I work, but being only a few clicks away is the next best thing.. There are so many questions out there and you always have the answer. Thank you.
Wow, Gary. Every time I read the heading of one of your new videos I go "Duh! I know how to use that function - Gimme something new!" And then when I watch said video, you simply blow me out of my chair with usability and functions that go into a whole new level. Thanks man, you never disappoint!
I was dying to have this explained, as there is very little documentation on it. Thank you so much for making this video! It's important to understand how this screen flipping works (even if we HATE it!) Maybe if I stop fighting with this feature I won't hate it as much.
I’m a brand new Mac user, just got my first Mac about 4 days ago.Love the machine, but this video is amazing.Never knew about multiple desktops!Keep up the good work bud….
This is FANTASTIC! THANKS! I thought I was pretty good with multiple desktops but for most of this I HAD NO IDEA. Especially love turning off the annoying "features" that I don't like (like jumping to the desktop with open app) and turning on great new things like "Hot Corners". Thanks again - you rock!
Using the green icon to exit the full screen when I was in split screen was aggravating me lol everytime I did it, the other one stayed in full screen. Thanks for this video, my headache is gone!
I'm loving these extra tips for using my iMac, Gary. Thank you. Another one, folks may not be aware of, if they have a Magic Mouse, to do a quick zoom in to whatever is on screen, just TAP TWICE on the top of your mouse! Tap twice to return.
Using multiple desktops can be hugely beneficial. I do statistical analysis and have a statistics program, editor, and document file open on 1 desktop, work email and finder window on another, browser, personal email and another finder on yet a 3rd. I used to use two monitors but actually find this more convenient. I am using a 27" iMac.
Great presentation on the use of multiple desktop. Like the previous comments, after many years of working on a Mac, Macmost has provided a simple, intuitive and productive way to use multiple desktops and split-screen features. Thanks.
Like the simple explanation. I have experimented a little with multiple desktops before and gave up. I did not know their true place and how they could be used productively . Thank you
I used Spaces on my old MBP and missed it so much until i looked out and found this vid. Must watch it several times to extract all the information, great content! thx!
Sooo Good! You area an Excellent instructor for sure!!!! Thank YOU for creating this video, it was wayyyyy helpful in keeping me productive!!!!!! All The Best!
Dear Gary, I've been using the mac for 3 years and this is one of the coolest and best tip I got. you've made my life much easier and simpler. Thank you very much for this game changer.
At last I've also found better ways to use my Mac. A professional easy to follow and use presentation. Big THANKS! I'm now subscribed and catching up on your other relevant videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! I wish Apple would give us the option to rename a desktop to some other meaningful name, like: “mail”, and that it would stay there until further changes.
@@hell_inn0258 windows let's you rename, but there's np rearrangement, dragging windows between desktops or separate virtual desktops per display. idk what Microsoft is thinking
Thanks so much for this info. This multiple desktop thing always causes frustration once I go into full screen mode. It is nice to understand how to use it and I am sure this will improve my productivity once I get used to it.
Thanks so much for your detailed and accurate explanation. My spouse suddenly had two different desktops, both with no files or windows open displaying the same clutter of folders but with different desktop pictures. What!!! Great explanation. I've been using the 'full screen' and 3 fingers to swipe for years and never considered that the options were much deeper.
All those features are very powerful but yet can get confusing very quickly. Thank you for your explanations and then for explaining how to shut off the features that I don't need to use, which is essentially all of them. With all the different spaces/desktops on my MacBook Pro with 2 attached monitors, it's just way too confusing. Ok the bright side, my mac does work and it always works reliably which is something I can't say about my other windows machines.
Thank you! This was the one feature i was curious about, since i’ve never really used mac. really good job explaining the main points in depth! i have an iphone so i’ve been debating, now i’m 100 percent sure i want one!
oh my god thank you, this video save my life Ive been having trouble with opening finder while plugging in a projector, it always opens in my projection screen, which can be dangerous, Im gonna try tweaking mission control
PRO TIP!!! Each new desktop can have it's own background desktop picture. 2 finger tap on each desktop and choose a new background photo. Now when you swipe between desktops it gives the impression of a completely new workspace. I assign apps to only "live" on certain desktops. There you go, no extra charge.
Have never used this, because I just haven't got around to learning it. Sooooooooo useful for me! Why, oh why, oh why didn't I learn to use this before ;-)
Thank you for this... I miss, however, the old tiled version of spaces (Snow Leopard I think) where I could also set up a grid and move around the grid. Now its just a line only.
Thank you! I'd never heard of multiple desktops and this can be quite a handy feature. I found that the keystrokes that you show in the video don't work on Mojave. I went to the Sys Prefs and found that F16 is the key to use!
So good. Thanks so much for such an informative video. What blew my mind was that I didn't know that full screen and split screen creates a new desktop! Every time I exit split screen I always wonder "what the hell happens to the other app!" I end up having to always click it in the dock and then it pops in full screen and I take that app out of full screen.
This is so nice! I have one question. When I run python program, it always activate Google Chrome browser. So it always moves back to the mission control where the Chrome is activated. Can I fix my working mission control even if chrome browser is activated in other mission control?
Hi Gary, another very useful video tutorial 👍 Question: I designated in Mission Control 4 desktops to 4 applications. However when I start up my computer again te day after only 1 designated desktop is active in Mission Control. The other 3 designated desktops are empty again?? How do I permanently save designated desktops in Mission Control? 🙏
Its crazy how the little things in life (that drive me up a tree) can be resolved and appreciated more than once. Im on my dads new computer and I thought that the feature and hotkeys were a default but ive only had laptops. Bam I saw your face and im like whos this mothe.... oh yes no ive been at this cross road. Its wild that one (slightly) better search query on youtube is better than three (debatably english) on google. You a are a scholar and a gentlement

Exactly my thoughts....
Yep, never understood it before

I lived so many years without using Mission Control. You just changed my life! Thanks a lot!
You are just a user then .
@@regismatizira4978 What do you mean by "just a user"?

Thank you, Gary. I am a Multiple Desktops addict now. To multitask, this the way to go. Love it!
FANTASTIC! JUST what I've been looking for. Even the guy at the Apple Store said this couldn't be done! THANK YOU, Gary!
I am dizzy with all this great info! Looking forward to learning it all. I think I need another lifetime! :-)

I have spent so much time opening and closing apps - this is great!
Brilliant! Thank you so much for this explanation. Now I can sort all my various projects onto different desktops. No more constant minimizing 🙂
Very nice man, loved that you went over the basics and more "hidden" features of multiple desktops. Great how-to video, thank you!

Extremely helpful, I've had my macbook for 2 years & never knew how to properly use this feature! Thank you for explaining so well.

Great video. I just got a mac and I had no idea I could do stuff like this. Thank you!
My search was meant to just turn the damn thing off. Now I get it. Thanks. You made me a subscriber.
I learn so much from you! I’ve had a MacBook Pro for years without knowing so many of these tips. You’re the best. Thank you!
been using a mac for almost 2 years and I only now understood how to use this. lol . Thanks for the great explaination!!
Searching for this topic brought your video as first option, didn't have to go to another one after this. Thanks Garry.

Thank you for the info! Now if we could only assign folders to specific desktops -- that would change the game!
I love this. This is a super helpful presentation. So many things regarding multiple desktops finally make sense. Thanks you!

Thank you 😀🙏 that is awesome.
I love using multiple desktops. I’ll have to try that one out!
Can this be done on an iMac, no trackpad? Up to date on the OS.
Itsalgud1 yes you can do it with command+up arrow or using the mission control function button on an Apple keyboard
Another great find from you Gary. Thanks again my friend.👏

I immediately got help on what I needed! You're good
I just never took the time to learn this. And i remember early on getting confused finding apps on these mysterious netherlands.
Great video. Oh how I have not been using the power of the mac. Thanks
