I think a cool villain that could’ve shown up in Shadow Gens is… Shadow himself. Well, specifically Shadow from one of the bad endings of Shadow 05. Not only would it fit the whole “mirrors to Shadow” theme they have for the bosses, but it could also have Shadow confront the worst version of himself and what giving into the Doom Powers and rage could turn him into. Maybe Black Doom and the Evil Shadow could’ve fused for the final battle to see what BD was trying to become, only to show that he was never going to be superior to the Shadow we all know today, no matter what form he took.
Dark Route Shadow would've been an amazing pre-final boss. And it would've been the best time to bring Jason Griffith back one last time for a Shadow cameo like that
And the other end, Black Doom DOES want him to come out. What's more: he's confident he can take him out no problem. What's even more: Black Doom believes he wouldn't even need to dirty his hands, when Shadow can do the job he has to do anyway to get Doom Wings and complete his transformation. Black Doom looks down on Mephiles and thus elevates himself.
@@ITAndroMedian Ironically, in terms of danger, Mephiles is *so* much worse than Black Doom. Keep in mind that Ian Flynn has confirmed that Iblis is *still* fused within Blaze, meaning that Iblis *still* exists. Had Mephiles beaten Shadow and actually gotten into White Space, there's nothing stopping him from booking it to Blaze and killing her, setting Iblis free and becoming Solaris again, which keep in mind, is the most powerful being in all of existence and took *3* super forms at separate points in time to stop.
Another thing to note, Mephiles seemed genuinely wounded that he was forgotten by shadow *again.* Shows how much he's desperate to just *be* again. Doubt he even cares about the whole nuclear option anymore, bro's suffered, justifiably, won't deny that, but having nothing but his thoughts is certainly gonna have a toll. Oh, and I'm far from the first to say, but an extra mention goes to the extra measures/details + the time eater/eggman put in. Locked away somewhere super hidden from view, that his boss gate requires an extra key. That the world leading into the gate is *already colored in.*
Technically the area around ALL the boss doors are already colored in. The difference is Mephiles has an entirely different surrounding aesthetic that actually resembles the cave of his boss arena. Rather than getting a castle, Mephiles is deep in a cave, with it's own music separate from the White Space theme.
Ian Flynn back in 2012 mentioned that Sonic Team originally intended for the Time Eater to be a portion of Mephiles that survived after Solaris's defeat, but this was never confirmed. It's also an interesting note that in an early script of Sonic Forces, Rouge mentions during the final battle that Infinite had created more Replicas, and Mephiles was one of those Replicas
While I did want Infinite in shadow gens, the only character I really can't understand not appearing was Emerl. Infinite whether we like it or not, would have kicked shadow's @ss, since in this point in the timeline he isn't strong enough to face him. Emerl on the other hand would be a perfect rival battle, heck, could have been a perfect 2D level playable character, literally just give shadow emerl's skin, change the animations a little, and use his mimic abilities as an excuse for why he has the same moveset.
If this Shadow can defeat Devil Doom and Mephlies then infinite is no match for him , infinite isn't that strong anyway , he's literally nothing without that ruby
@@haiderraad468 It's not me saying, it's the games. The sonic from the beggining of forces is much stronger than the one from generations, and he got beaten up badly by Infinite, no way the shadow from gens will have even a slight chance against him, infinite is said as the strongest foe Sonic ever faced(before frontiers), shadow's doom powers are not giving him that much advantage, as I said, whether we like it or not, he IS cannonically stronger than Mephiles and Black Doom, and being a badly written villain or constantly depending on a super powerful gem doesn't automatically change that fact.
@@haiderraad468 Also, Infinite is stronger than both Black Doom and Mephiles, we just don't get that impression because he lacks a lot of the presentation the other two have, firstly because of the budget of forces being ridiculous and small, second because sega didn't want to use super sonic anymore at the time.
@@haiderraad468 Never got that argument. Thats like saying super sonic is nothing without the chaos emeralds, like, sure, but he's still one of fhe most powerful characters because he still has one of if not THE most powerful gems. He almost killed the entire planet with a sun, mephilis made some clones and drive-by'd sonic
The villains we got for Shadow Generations all fit as bosses, but I know most people would say Infinite should've been in the game. I do agree to an extent, but I genuinely think that King Arthur or even Merlina could've been good options as additional bosses. In all honesty, Merlina would fit more thematically than King Arthur, but King Arthur fits the aesthetic more. In terms of themes, the three bosses Shadow fights before he fights Black Doom all fit the theme of desperation. The Biolizard is fighting out of desperation for survival, Metal Overlord is fighting out of desperation for superiority, and Mephiles is fighting out of desperation for existence. Merlina would be fighting out of desperation for eternal life.
@@thesteelsquid863 True, but I just wanted to add my own interesting idea into the mix cuz Infinite is the default answer for a boss that people wanted. You are correct about Infinite, but I just thought that Merlina and/or King Arthur would be more interesting.
But all of those bosses have been previously fought by Shadow in some way. (I mean, he didn't fight Metal Overlord, but he did fight Metal Madness). I don't remember if you can fight the King Arthur/Merlina as him. Not to mention... Technically speaking Lancelot isn't actually Shadow. Besides, all of the bosses have SOME connection to Shadow (Biolizard is his prototype, Metal Overlord has his DNA, Chaos Control and also has some parallels with SA2 Shadow with the way he speaks about being the Ultimate Lifeform and calling Sonic a fake, as well as Shadow... And Mephiles is pretty self-explanatory) Merlina/King Arthur are more related to Sonic than anything. - .-)" (I wouldn't complain if we got to see them though, it'd be so cool to see what they could pull off for that fight)
we needed infinite in sxs gens. call me stupid but that mf couldve been badass but got screwed over so hard in sonic forces by shit writing, he just became an edgelord. but now, since the edgelord of shadow during that time can become a well written character, maybe we can see a well written infinite that has a real reason to shit the bed when getting beaten up by shadow (like srsly you couldve given him, like, self worth issues and him losing it after shadow beat him would make sense because he was always worried about him COME ON IT WAS NOT THAT HARD)
Ok here's my idea if infinite was in SXSG Like think about what doom does to shadow in act 1 of sunset heights, but put it in act 2 and replace dooms eye with infinite
@@willbrgamer5137 Could have him seem to be a tool for Black Doom like in Forces but its quickly shown its a plow and later once Dooms stopped Infinite absorbs remains of this White Space an Doom to evolve gain some insane armor form with he haze of white space an masses from Black Arms cover his hands an body an once his eye opens its glowing all tree colors
While I like the idea, Infinite would obliterate Sonic or Shadow if they fought them at their current power in gens. I’d rather be come back post frontiers and get his comeback in a game that could make much more time for himm
Infinite. I wouldn't even care if we got a boss fight or not, I just think Shadow kicking Infinite's ass without thinking about it is just extremely funny.
True but honestly the events of forces shouldn’t even be happening if he did kick his ass in sxs cause that would imply that he is strong enough to beat infinite with the ruby so Eggman and infinite wouldn’t have a chance at taking over 99.99 percent of the world
Just a bit of context, most of Mephiles’ lines are lifted directly from 06, that “truly disappointed” line is a direct callback to 06 when he offered Shadow the chance to join him but Shadow refused.
0:28 I kinda thought Infinite would’ve been in Shadow Gens considering Infinite is one of the main villains because of Shadow. Now that I think about it, Shadow had a big impact on Infinite as a character
Yeah but infinite had zero impact on shadow tbh, it wouldn't really fit having infinite in the game. It would be pretty weird if shadow beat infinite who's a future villain. People are already arguing over who's stronger between sonic and shadow despite the fact Omega has stated in the game that sonic is shadow's equal. If infinite who beat future sonic lost to shadow from the past it would throw the whole sonic and shadow are equals to the fire. As much as I want infinite to get a redo I'd prefer if he came back in a future game. It would've been better if we got an emeral or sonic boss fight. Both of them would've worked well as rival fights.
I would’ve said infinite but that wouldn’t make sense because I think Emerl would be so much better. He was hyped in the first episode of dark beginnings so it would make total sense. Another thing is all the bosses are Shadow in some way and Emerl fits that perfectly.
i rly like how mephiles was handled too it was super well written. imo i think the thing i'm most disappointed in shadow gens for was just the length. i was hoping there'd be one or two more stages- my pick wouldve been asteroid coaster, with shadow empathizing with the frenzy and black hole wisps. i think itd be the best choice too since he appears there in colors DS, and the doom powers are kinda similar to the wisp powers. i also think a sonic riders stage wouldve fit in amazingly seeing as shadows still on rollerblades for his entire life. i never played sonic riders so i cant say which would fit best, but i think we couldve used a funny stage, for pacing. i was also hoping there'd be rival fights and boss fights, i thought an infinite fight was a-shooin and a REAL PLAYABLE sonic fight would have like. yknow. actually happened? even if its a lose in the custscene type thing i wouldnt have cared. then again the shadow fight is maybe the best fight in sonic generations, idk how they wouldve made it better, but even just having almost the same fight with slightly different moves wouldve been cool! i dont care that it wouldve had to been shoehorned into the story, its wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff they couldve figured it out
Infinite would've been perfect in the game. The way the boss fight could've been better than the whimsical excuse that is homing attacking into his head and giving him brain damage, but that could still stay, the whole idea could be Infinite makes one of his weird clones, but the twist would be for most of the bossfight you wouldn't go up against Infinite, but a clone of Shadow with all of Shadow's current abilities in game, and attacking the clone sends you skydiving down into the bossfights from Sonic Forces and after attacking Infinite you get sent back to the Shadow clone over again with a different ability being used, and make it a combination of all the boss fight stages for that Shadow has to go through (except the final fight). So Infinite could have his boss fights and Shadow can be hitting himself too, but it wouldn't effect the clone, just send Shadow to Infinite. And they could improve the silly "I am not weak" line.
I don’t think he could’ve manipulated Shadow. Silver was an easy mark because he’s naive and his situation was about as desperate as it could be. Shadow is a much more jaded person, and even when Mephiles tried to manipulate him with the truth of his future in 06, Shadow pretty much shrugged it off with the famous “If the world chooses to be my enemy, I’ll fight like I always have” line. It would’ve been cool to see Silver interact with him here. Since this version of Silver comes from a better future (assuming Colors DS is canon here) and he already knows the other characters, it would be interesting to see how he would respond to this obviously evil monster that claims to know him.
@@Hurtle885hu8bu I'm pretty sure they are... I mean, there's no reason for them not to be at this point. They're trying to avoid retcons as much as they can. It'd be weird if they decided to retcon the comic characters being mentioned in Frontiers.
I know that Shadow never appeared in Sonic Rush Adventure, but Johnny should have been in it. They literally give shadow a surfboard, then make him fight Metal Overlord. Johnny is perhaps the most forgotten sonic character, and he definitely deserves to show up again.
Mephiles the Dark is my favorite Sonic antagonist so it was awesome to see him return as a boss fight in Sonic Generations. Admittedly I wasn’t a big fan of his new voice compared to Dan Green’s performance in Sonic 06, but Robbie Daymond’s performance isn’t terrible by no means either. And it’s starting to grow on me. And while I do wish Mephiles played a larger role in Shadow Generations, I understand why he was kept to a boss fight. Shadow Generations isn’t a long game and it’s clear Sonic Team wanted to have Black Doom as the central antagonist for Shadow in it. Which admittedly, he was handled well. Although, with how Mephiles was resealed into the Scepter or Darkness, I believe that it allows Sonic Team the option to have an excuse to revisit Mephiles in the future. As Mephiles cannot be killed, he can only be sealed away. Maybe there could be a future game where Mephiles is able to restore himself to the main timeline through using the Time Eater’s shattered core. And with that, he could come back as a more powerful looming threat that could strike at anytime. There’s ultimately a lot Sonic Team could still do with Mephiles. I mean, if Black Doom can seemingly return out of thin air, so could Mephiles.
Black Doom and Mephiles are easily my favorite villains and it’s sad they got brought back only for such a short game. I doubt they are gonna remaster Shadow 05 much less any of the other adventure era games. I’m glad it happened tho
oh i meant to say, an idea i saw on tumblr was to bring infinite back as a boss with... a FRIEND! an evil rookie type OC who teamed up with him while he was low. i think this wouldve been fun character development for infinite considering how he was characterized in forces, and wouldve proved a foil for shadow who has been fighting this fight all by himself, like even if its for maria he's doing it by himself save for the rouge assist swapping the emeralds. compare that to orbot and cubot teamed up, rouge who got dragged into all of this by being sonics friend, big is out here looking for his bestie froggy, orbot and cubot have each others back, hell sonic has his younger self and TWO of his best friend. itd fit into the story sosososo nicey :)
I actually saw a video on what if Mephiles returned via a final portal releasing him in the sceptre. Through your way of him persuading Shadow telling him he can help against Black Doom. Shadow agrees and helps Mephiles out. As they prepare to fight Black Doom Mephiles explains his backstory. Though leaving out some aspects. Saying how he was a god once but was erased after his source was extinguished. He will then say he’s been trapped in a limbo. Then upon defeating Black Doom Mephiles reveals the truth. Telling Shadow that he defeated him with Sonic and Silver. He then says he plan to take revenge on all those who bested him. Then reveals that the Time eater is a fragment of him that he intends to use to restore himself fully. This then leads to a second boss fight with Mephiles which is harder. Of course Shading defeats him and tells him that the void will be his eternal prison. The story continues as it goes with the final cut scene. Leaving Mephiles trapped in the void. However in a post credit scene Mephiles finds a portal and escapes, though he escapes post Frontiers. It could also be interesting if Mephiles says how he’s a God of time and he can alter events. Telling Shadow he can give him a world with a cured Maria still alive. Though Shadow rejects the offer. Anyway after Mephiles escapes he begins to plan his vengeance. Thinking of taking revenge on all those who were responsible for his downfall. Whilst also trying to figure out how to restore Iblis.
12:30 yes please we beg you. may i also suggest: mephiles plans to assassinate blaze or take her and/or the sol emeralds' power as either a substitute or means of resurrecting iblis. and hey, maybe infinite/zero gets thrown around along with the phantom ruby (unless there is an in-universe explanation as to where those two went i am just completely not in the know of) which substitutes his Purple Emerald of Time Travelling thing or is revealed to **be** said P.E.o.T.T. it could also add some sort of origin/character building for silver to make him more than just an optimist but also a realist
Even though this would never happen and conically would make no sense I would have loved to see Wes Weasley as like the shops man for Shadow's campaign. Similar to the Omaocho shop just a place you can buy upgrades from and stuff. Like just imagine that interaction and how incredible it would be. Wes Weasley tryin to sell Shadow those anti gravity boots from the AoStH cartoon and Shadows just like "Why would I even need these. I am the ultimate life form I already have no gravity."
Infinite as a boss wouldn't make sense as its said shadow doesn't know alot of the places he is visiting or remember alot of the bosses he is fighting so it really wouldn't make sense for him to mess with the future, also his main goal is to defeat black doom and not care about the others.
To manipulate Silver and Blaze again? Nah they're not going for good writing when it comes to villain characters anymore and Mephiles is already in Shadow's section of the game being trapped in a paralleled version of dusty desert and being sealed inside the scepter of darkness again even though when Shadow tried to seal him again he couldn't and Mephiles explained why it didn't work
@Iblis_and_Mephiles_fan You say this as if Black Doom wasn't a major part of Shadow's story. Also, even though this a joke, they could always do a retroactive decision like with the yellow emerald
@@End_Productions yeah Black Doom was well written sorta but sending Shadow constantly to radical highway Shadow was obviously gonna learn Black Doom's patterns and obviously used them against Black Doom, he also has Doom powers which was able to destroy the other villains of Shadows rogue's gallery, it was like Doom wanted Shadow to win against him making his plans useless
@Iblis_and_Mephiles_fan Well, I mean, would you rather have lesser game play value? Shadow picking up on Doom's tendencies doesn't make Doom a bad villain. Shadow just knew who he was up against. Also, the Doom powers were to prove a point. Don't say that they're not trying to be interested with their villains when they clearly are taking stories seriously
YES!!! 100% Yes! Like, seriously dude, that would be incredibly cool! Sonic "What If"-s are back in at the moment, with Rescourgance and all that. And we can't forget your absolutely legendary rewrite of Forces. I'd say go for it! That's way too much fun to keep locked up in the brainspace! And yeah, I gotta agree with the fact that Mephiles was done SO GOOD in Shadow Generations, I've never played '06 (though granted, I only just started existing then, so...), also haven't gotten the chance to get my hands on Generations just yet, but man is it cool to see this stuff! I love it when games can tell a good story!
My thoughts on mephiles he certainly was desperate and underused. Mephiles in shadow generations was a plot hole, the reason why he is a plot is in 06 we see that after mephiles absorbed shadow's shade he became to powerful to be contained in the scepter of darkness. Shadow generations reconned that lore because they didn't want mephiles to overshadow black doom in generations. Also i would have expected him to use a clone again to escape out of the boss gate because that would have been in his character to do so.
@@CatJuicer the scepter only contained Mephiles while he was still unformed, just black goo or whatever. The moment he took Shadow’s form, the scepter no longer worked on him. It makes no sense that he was in the scepter as his crystallized form, or was able to be punched back into it one last time. I found the quote “The ‘I’ of now absorbed your power through your shadow in the past. What may have worked 10 years ago, no longer does!” You could say Mephiles just got weaker somehow, but it’s not because Iblis isn’t there. He was separated through the whole game and Mephiles only got stronger with time.
@@asnwolf4507 well the sceptre could’ve been made stronger by the time eaters influence to contain mephiles till someone got near it aka shadow. Hell who’s to say eggman didn’t find out about mephiles with the time eater and just made sure the sceptre could hold him till someone took care of him
@@CatJuicer my personal headcanon is that there is no scepter, Mephiles was just using the image of one to set a trap. Shadow instantly calling it "a seal" is bs though, that just felt like an exposition line, took me out of the moment.
Mephiles... I think what we got from him was pretty good and makes a lot of sense, he has long time ago fallen from his glory days, now he is just an almost worthy of pity being who exists in a place of nothingness and is desperate to get out, funny because this is exactly what he tried to do with everyone else back in 06, he tasted his own medicine and that is a beautiful irony, to bring him back after that, would ruin this grand finale. And honestly, call me crazy, but I think Infinite can carry on Mephiles's legacy as a manipulative and cruel villain. Those two always being paired together in Forces Speed Battle can't be coinsidense, and dare I say, Infinite has potential to mess even more with shadow than mephiles ever could thanks to his illusion powers, just imagine him using ghosts of Maria and Gerald to try and break Shadow? He could search on every single one of sonic's friends archives, discovers exactly what hurts them the most and bring those nightmares to reality. The possibilities are imeasurable.
They could have had Infinite seem to be one of Dooms tools but he ends up absorbing White Space remains along with Black Arms so in a later game the freak can suddenly shift a stage gradually an then remix of his theme kicks in oh crud he coming
I thought of a interesting theory. I could just be talking out of my butt here, but the Time Eater took places from the past and brought them to the white space. It is clear because of Shadow Gens that he takes places from the past and future. But the entire Sonic timeline so far doesn't include Mephiles anymore. He was erased. The time eater managed to bring him back from, basically purgatory, to be used one more time in Shadow Gens. Futhermore, the Mephiles you do fight here in Shadow Gens is specifically Mephiles AFTER he took Shadow's form, and AFTER the events of Sonic 06, because he remembers Shadow. I believe Mephiles himself had some involvement in his own return here. He used the time eater to try to escape purgatory, but even in a White Void, he is still locked away, deep under Chaos Island. Maybe I'm copping, but in ways, this tells me Mephiles can find a way to bring himself back into the timeline, whether that's via his own power, or by his manipulation of someone who CAN bring him back. Thinking of a mainline Sonic game that is kinda a spiritual successor to Sonic 06 that has Open Zones and the 3 Hedgehogs and Mephiles returning, a vendetta against the world for erasing him, I can see a game like that, if made well, being one of the best games in the series.
I think that by the time Mephiles realized Shadow doesn't remember him, it was already too late to try to backpedal and say "wait, sorry, I'm actually your friend, sorry for attacking you, let's get along". Mephiles had already revealed that he knew full well who Shadow and had already tried to kill him, so trying to backpedal at that point would just be super unconvincing. Also, I don't think Mephiles would know about Black Doom at that point.
Your ideas are really cool, I love your creativity man. For my boss, imma give 2 of them and 3 stages. Emerl, Infinite, Asteroid Coaster, Dragon Road, and Black Comet. I really wished all these were in the game. The thing is though, there is no way we could have gotten any of this in the game. You gotta remember, this is half remaster, and is smushed between many other projects. Sonic Team already put so much time and money on polishing the game. I'm sure they wanted to put way more in this game, but they quite literally could not afford to. I'd call it "too much potential" rather than wasted.
Got further into the video, but Mephiles' goal in 06 was to reunite with Iblis to become Solaris and consume all of spacetime. I'm pretty sure he still has a similar goal in Gens, meaning he would *need* to restore himself to *Sonic's* universe because only that universe's Iblis can turn him into Solaris, but he might not be aware that Iblis no longer exists. So I don't think creating his own universe would help him with that. Btw, I had to edit my previous comment 'cause I misspelled Mephiles' name, and editing comments always gets rid of hearts given by the video uploader. It's stupid, but that's how it works apparently.
I think it's an interesting idea to make Mephiles a co-villain... We don't know if Black Doom is aware of the history Shadow has with these characters. Because if he does, then he'd KNOW Mephiles is better off staying sealed up, and not to trust him. Besides.. I don't think Black Doom would like the idea of having another mind working on his plans, especially after Gerald went out of his way to make sure Shadow wouldn't be a warrior for Black Doom, one of the only times we see him trying to rely on someone he can't manipulate/control to do his bidding. I'm sure he'd catch on really quickly that Mephiles isn't really loyal.
I have to give props to the build up, so first of all his chamber is sealed off and unable to go into until shadow gets his squid form, and then when you enter the chamber, there are no enemys, the layout is impossible to get through by any normal means and the fact he needs 4 keys to fight, and he is still sealed in that scepter, it really feels like the time eater, black doom or SOMETHING is trying to keep mephlies in there forever
"Mephiles can't recombine with Iblis, as Iblis is nowhere to be seen." I'm pretty sure that the lava monsters found in Crisis City are extensions of Ibils' power, and Silver's first boss fight against Iblis takes place at the end of his version of Crisis City. As such, I think its safe to say that Iblis does exist in this realm, and is probably going through something similar to Mephiles. At least, to the extent that it is aware of anything, given it is rather animalistic. Its just that Iblis is stuck somewhere in Sonic's portion of white space.
Memphis should have been the main villain of the game. Him coming back would make more sense for some of the more trippy stuff goes on in game and is objectively the biggest threat to in the game
Honestly, seeing Mephiles just makes me realize the wasted potential of Time Eater. If Mephiles was able to be brought back, just imagine if Eggman went beyond and brought back future villains and sent them after Sonic. Instead goes for two outdated mechs to fight Sonic directly with and one powerful god. Imagine him bringing in Solaris (I'm aware canonically Eggman wouldn't know of Solaris existing) or Dark Gaia, hell imagine he somehow accidentally brought The End into Generations! We really don't know the limits of what the Time Eater was capable of doing. We saw levels sure but it's a shame we couldn't see the extent of powerful foes Sonic and friends faced from not just the past, but potential futures too.
Mephiles is not the only villain who came close to ending Sonic permanently. In SA2, Eggman completely outmaneuvers Sonic, and the only reason Sonic survived was because he managed to perform chaos control for the first time with an emerald that wasn't even real. I think that gets overlooked sometimes, like, Eggman should have won that and the only reason he failed was due to factors he could not possibly have taken into account.
I think having some sort of G.U.N related boss fight would have been interesting, maybe a reworked Diablon. The fight would not only be some sorely needed Shadow 05 representation but I can see the narrative potential of Shadow being confused why this alternate timeline version of the commander hates him so much, and it could also work to tie in with the moments where Black Doom's influence in Shadow makes him more prone to violence and anger.
unironically, I think SxS Gens' bosses were all the weakpoints. They're so stiff and just don't really comment on their situation minus mephiles to a small degree. Imagine if we had a fakeout infinite boss where the first phase is infinite trying to smack shadow around like "I finally return! I can show you my TRUE POWER" and he just gets smacked in the back of the head by mephiles. I wish we would see more interactions BETWEEN other characters from completely different times and stories, like working together or competing for superiority. Even if they were just like side comments, such as facing neo metal overlord and he comments about characters from the future he may have seen, somehow idk. Its a shame in both gens games that the only characters that really comment and interact with the surroundings is sonic and shadow, everyone else feels just like a small side reference for the main characters to call back to, which is fine enough for the type of game.
@@gamingdudedonal3312I don't think Eggman would do that, he prolly knew Neo Metal Sonic woulda betrayed him "again" if he took him right from Sonic Heroes and making his past self the safest option for his ally
The monsters that come with dark gaia in unleashed, are ghosts that mephiles in 06 take and spawn as demon versions- which are all in themselves the dead spirits of the aliens that black doom spawns in shadow. The aliens die, they become the ghosts as they appear in unleashed, but some of these ghosts are taken and turned into demons by mephiles. Because iblis, dark gaia, devil doom, the time eater, and the end are somehow all one in the same ancient deity that, also, possessed chaos in adventure and metal sonic in heroes. Wee, the audience (including sonic and friends) are only given all these different titles for this one deity throught the different games because the games all touch on different parts of history and different civilizations that would all be telling the same ancient story in different languages.
Question Answer: Gerald said we're seeing glimpses of other timelines; so Diablon would be on the table as a boss fight. Although if you're looking for a villainous character and not just a boss fight... maybe Sage? We didn't get a fight against her as Sonic, and I feel like Chaos Spear being able to attack a cyber-construct like her would be coherent. Have her confuse him for Sonic, then him correct, and her response be something like "Professor Gerald's creation - with no respect for being Robotnik family property - doubling fire-power". Real Post: I wasn't really a Mephiles fan - I've always found it a bit weak that he failed to do a Faustian Bargain when he's named after Mephistopheles, the demon who made the original Faustian Bargain. That said I loved his big hammy energy that comes from Dan Green's pharaoh voice. So honestly, it is kind of hilarious to me that they completely changed his voice, and yet his new situation is so much more compelling to me. I want a story about Mephiles trying to reintegrate himself back into the timeline. Just imagine an uneasy alliance between Shadow and Black Doom, where Shadow has to borrow Doom Powers again to stop Mephiles from reintegrating himself into the world. Maybe even have a depowered Mephiles get to exist in the ending of that story, and try to mirror the idea of Shadow reintegrating his dark-powers without letting them have power over him against Mephiles trying to be reintegrated into reality without remaining a threat. I feel like, since based on comments they seem to want Black Doom to be Shadow's Eggman, a story like that could allow plenty of future struggles with Black Doom to feel like a natural part of Shadow's story... because honestly that is Shadow's biggest problem. He's such a story driven character that you need to do a lot more ground-work to give him a recurring villain, and Black Doom isn't fully there yet even if he is the closest and best fitting any character has ever been.
@@Garrulous64 Yeah. Honestly Shadow Generations had so much awesome boss design that I would have loved to have had more. I have seen an analysis that "every boss is a variant of Shadow" and thematically I feel like Black Bull would have fit very neatly with that. They are essentially Black Doom's pet, and I would have loved to have seen them get as big a glow-up as the biolizard. Conceptually I've always liked the idea that they were some kind brood-mother for the Black Arms bats. Especially now given the light-brush of Body-Horror that Doom-Powers, the Biolizard, and even the Devil Doom transformations enjoyed... Can you imagine how cool it would look to see a flock of Black Arms bats crawling out of Black Bull's mouth? (Apparently the creature some folks have mistaken for a Black Bull redesign is called Black Macho. I can't really blame folks for the confusion cause Radical Highway Act 2 has such a clear mix of Lethal Highway and Westopolis that it would naturally make folks think of Black Bull.)
I LOVE your story analysis videos and the videos when you create fan theories/what if’s about scenarios you’re passionate about. Would love to see ideas you’re cooking regarding Mephiles, he’s such a fun villain. Great video!
I know that MEPHILES as a co villain was a missed opportunity BUT REMEMBER MEPHILES is the TRUE DEMON OF THE WORLD that the time eater and or Black Doom didnt want him to come back otherwise everything will be destroyed so its best to him not being able to exist again working with black doom because MEPHILES will betray him and destroy everything so yeh its just my opinion but im also making a point
I think a cool villain that should be in Sonic x Shadow Generations is Infinite. Like Shadow forgets of Mephiles but Infinite is mad at Shadow now wanting to bring an end his life for good then they go into a boss fight with Shadow using all of his Doom Powers against Infinite then he goes into the Phantom Ruby never going to be found again.
A lot of people have said it already, but Emerl would've been a cool antagonist to see, as well as a cool boss fight. Like imagine him copying your doom powers and using them against you
Im a huge Mephiles the Dark fan, and I really love how they portrayed him in this game. I would've liked him to be a co main villain with Black Doom. However, that just wouldn't make Mephiles, Mephiles for me. He is always cunning and a psychopath and on top of that he is leagues ahead of Black Doom considering Iblis is trapped in limbo as well, Crisis City
G I just thought of something what if this was the setup for mephiles to return in future games, honestly it's making me wonder if like black doom mephiles might give shadow new powers himself or a more original storyline, I can totally see a game mephiles trys to get shadow to help him and we go from there anyway love the video dude keep up the awesome work, what if we get a playable mephiles oh my gosh that would be awesome, and yes I would love to see that what if
Mephiles forgetting about silver has bitten him in the behind 2 times now, because I don't know how he can constantly forget about the 1 person who is almost exactly like him when it comes to powers because silver just like Mephiles can unironically travel through time and space without the need of chaos Emeralds, so I have no idea why he doesn't just either a) convince silver to let him out or b) force silver to let him out.
listen, I know weall hate him-I hate hik-but genuinely I think Zavok has potentialto be a better Shadow villain than a Sonic villain. Just make him be a dick about Shadow using his strength as the Ultimate Lifeform to protect rather than abuse. That being said he’s not my answer lmao; I was hoping the game would have Rival battles in addition to standard bosses and that Infinite would’ve been one. Could’ve righted that wrong too.
This already was a plot beat in Archie a dude gains so much power but outlives the joyful world he once lorded over much of an is cared Silver would become the same with his desperate quest to fix the past
Solaris was pretty content as a flame but it was the royal family of soleanna experimenting on Solaris that split it apart and created Mephiles and Iblis.
Considering he’s the conscious of Solaris kind of wish one of his quotes was “No I won’t accept this I am a GOD!” With shadow last words to him saying “there no need for a god like you”
I do like the idea of shadow having a reoccurring enemy in Mephiles in the same way sonic has Eggman (as an aside I do believe Infinite would be a great main enemy for Silver, tho my reasoning requires more explaining), but I think the execution of Mephiles being brought to the main timeline could only properly come from him having some interaction or interference with the time eater upon his defeat. Sonic's fights with the time eater doesn't even end with its own cutscene, just the in game moment of them blasting through it followed by an explosion. If Mephiles found some way to escape the scepter after his fight against shadow, and if the time eater's destruction causing everyone to be sent to the fixed timeline could be intercepted or manipulated by Mephiles then I could see him becoming shadows main enemy who exists paradoxically kinda like reverse flash.
Abraham Tower would be a cool fight. He could be brought from a time period or timeline where he still hates Shadow, and uses a bunch of G.U.N tech. I was gonna say Infinite (I like infinite he was severely wasted) but that would entirely f*** up the timeline because Shadow would know about Infinite before Forces. And Emeral has been said before, despite how much I would love to see an Emeral fight. Unrelated, but related to the video, it would be cool if Mephiles was still a bit stronger than Shadow. I know power creep and everything exists, but Mephiles is supposed to be a god, so Shadow making him look like Infinite is a little humiliating.
What if when the movies get to the 06 era, since iblis was already defeated by knuckles, we just get Mephiles story? Like this Mephiles slipped out of reality and jumped into the movie universe? I think that would be so sick
If 06 is to the Sonic franchise was the prequels are to Star Wars, then Mephiles is prequels Palpatine. No, his plan doesnt make much sense, but man is he just so awesome and fun to watch anyway
When you said mephiles going to the sol demention, where he would fight blaze and then sonic and shadow show up to fight, all i could think was. this is just the goku black arc in dragon ball super. altho it would be cool to have blaze as a main character for a game
I’m I the only one that hates the direction they took Mephiles? The voice actor did a good job selling the anger and desperation, but why the hell is Mephiles angry and desperate? Why does he want to restore the timeline? What purpose would he exist for, if not just to destroy time again? Quotes from the last time we saw him M: “Join me, Shadow. Let us teach this world a lesson and rewrite the future.” S: “Don’t try to deceive me. You have no desire for revenge. You only crave destruction. Your only lust is to fuel Iblis until there’s nothing left of time itself.” M: “it’s a pity Shadow the hedgehog. Truly a shame that you wish to go against me!” So Mephiles didn’t outright confirm or deny what his intentions were, but judging by the fact he did destroy time itself, I think Shadow was spot on. Witch is why I don’t buy the whole “stuck in purgatory desperation” they went with, considering white space is exactly what he wanted. If anything he should be trying to stop Shadow from restoring the timeline. Imo
Bro fking mentioned blaze all about that and sht but... The only time he mentioned silver is when he got manipulated. Bro. His right there. Give my man some damn respect.
I found this absolutely perfect. The Fight was cool, the dialouge was AMAZING and if was a neat send off and confirm that he PROBABLY won't return..... but still exists somehow
I made a video on this and I believe in sxs gens they focused more on references then continuity to the point where if you look closer, you’ll see a few problems with mephiles’ inclusion
You know what villain should've been in Shadow Generations,Shadow specifically, Movie Shadow.I know we're getting Sonic Movie 3 DLC in Shadow Generations, but the Shadow in the DLC is Game Shadow, so imagine if Game Shadow ends up meeting with Movie Shadow and then they fight to prove who is the real Shadow.
Mephilis the Dark is probably not done. The new series writer loves him, and has said he'll bring him back if and when appropriate. I hope this isn't the end.
Honestly a versus battle with Silver or Emeral doesn't need be a boss just there because Shadow fought them before but obviously give them story reasons for fighting each other
That what if with Mephalis surviving. .. wouldn't be half bad of an idea. Also, I think it'd be an AMAZING plot for a new Sonic game. PLEASE do that idea, I beg you 🙏
I think it would have been really cool if we had a Shadow an Sonic team up vs a Black Doom x Mephiles x Time eater boss fight maybe if they do a Sonic Frontiers kinda thing with a roadmap we could get something like a last story type situation where this is possible. I really like the idea that you said at the end of the video I think if he tried to take over a different dimension that would make for an insane game to be honest I need that right now 😂
I mean they say Black Doom rebuild his body which means he is imortal so probably gonna see him again in the future, Mephiles being still alive but trapped in time could always eventually return because the time eater is not the only stuff that can mess with time, like one day by accident they do a double chaos control like 06 because they dont remember that happens they do it accidentally and he escapes or the time stones for whatever reason
Personally I think there should've been a boss fight against a shadow android mainly because it plays a very important part in shadow's story in sonic heroes/shadow 05
i rememeber the days when virtually every fan hated Infinite when he appeared, but now suddenly everyone wants him back even though nothing happened to him since Forces
well people always had some love for him regardless all the covers, remixes and mashups with other dramatic audio media ever the years shows people do dig his vibe the video mixing it with Erwin war speech from flipping Attack on Titan and the one mixing it with a Ultrakill bosses lines are insane lol
The math isn't mathing in my brain. Sega is planning something they went to mephlies instead of infinite. They used a character that was perfect from a 10 plus year old game instead of infinite from a more recent game that could've easily fixed his character and show the power of the phantom ruby. One of 2 things either sega is planning something with 06 very low maybe but it's not 0 anymore or sega just wants us to go crazy with theories again like we did when og generations came out and the time eater was introduced
mephiles isn't an dumb, his goal was to combine with iblis and he did exactly that, he manipulated silver to try and kill sonic, beat shadow, rouge and omega by himself and he is the only villain in the series to successfully kill sonic (u can definitely tell I made this comment before watching the rest of the video)
I think we should have gotten a final story where just before black doom and the time eater die they combine and we get super sonic and super shadow vs time eater black doom. And imagine if during their fight they were warped through time through all the games theve been in. This is a bit far but I would have liked if sonic quickly went back to sonic 3 to get the super emeralds and they went hyper one last time.
I would like to say that Ian confirmed that iblis exist in blaze now after 06 due to her sacrificing herself so silver won’t die being rejected to be the vessal of iblis at the end of silver campaign so that would be a neat what if dude
TBH I'd love to see Dark Gaia in Shadow Generations. It could be paired with either Eggmanland/Cool Edge/Dragon Road and Aquarium Park/Astroid Coaster/Flame Core/Wave Ocean to create another "combo" like we have been given in the base game
Maybe Black Doom and the Evil Shadow could’ve fused for the final battle to see what BD was trying to become, only to show that he was never going to be superior to the Shadow we all know today, no matter what form he took.
what they could do with that is the trope of having Shads hold on to the alternate an sooth them
the film Brave Story does it an its visually dope
Dark Route Shadow would've been an amazing pre-final boss. And it would've been the best time to bring Jason Griffith back one last time for a Shadow cameo like that
This idea reminds me of the Omega Zero fight from Mega Man Zero 3
Adventure 2 Shadow would also have been kinda cool to see.
dude and imagine they brought back jason griffith to voice 05 shadow????
Mephiles requires 4 keys instead of 3, time eater DOES NOT want mephiles to comeout
@@michaelbk0076 Which should tell you a lot about Black Doom (either unknown Chaos powers or hubris), but doesn't. It is kinda insulting.
I think that was mainly Robbie’s performance because that line itself was a reference to when he first took Shadow’s form in 06.
He is hateful and desperate. A very dangerous mix
Bro was cooking up a 5 star meal with that Mephiles going to the Sol dimension idea
I need to see that early Forces script because I seriously doubt that Mephiles was ever going to be in Forces or mentioned at all.
Pretty sure he said thats his personal theory, not what was originally intented
@@haiderraad468
It's not me saying, it's the games.
@@haiderraad468
Also, Infinite is stronger than both Black Doom and Mephiles, we just don't get that impression because he lacks a lot of the presentation the other two have, firstly because of the budget of forces being ridiculous and small, second because sega didn't want to use super sonic anymore at the time.
@@willbrgamer5137
Maybe infinite have a chance if he summoned his clones but i don't think he can defeat shadow with chaos control in a 1v1
Infinite fought out of desperation to prove his power. Also, he has more direct ties to shadow like the rest do
@@thesteelsquid863 True, but I just wanted to add my own interesting idea into the mix cuz Infinite is the default answer for a boss that people wanted. You are correct about Infinite, but I just thought that Merlina and/or King Arthur would be more interesting.
@@Chaos_Vergil fair enough
(I wouldn't complain if we got to see them though, it'd be so cool to see what they could pull off for that fight)
Even now the game is out, you all still don't get, it takes place before forces
we needed infinite in sxs gens. call me stupid but that mf couldve been badass but got screwed over so hard in sonic forces by shit writing, he just became an edgelord. but now, since the edgelord of shadow during that time can become a well written character, maybe we can see a well written infinite that has a real reason to shit the bed when getting beaten up by shadow (like srsly you couldve given him, like, self worth issues and him losing it after shadow beat him would make sense because he was always worried about him COME ON IT WAS NOT THAT HARD)
Nah man, I hear you, call me crazy, but I think he has potential to be better than Mephiles.
Ok here's my idea if infinite was in SXSG
Like think about what doom does to shadow in act 1 of sunset heights, but put it in act 2 and replace dooms eye with infinite
@@Supersigmaomegacounter point: doom powers and plot armour so we can have fun
Infinite. I wouldn't even care if we got a boss fight or not, I just think Shadow kicking Infinite's ass without thinking about it is just extremely funny.
True but honestly the events of forces shouldn’t even be happening if he did kick his ass in sxs cause that would imply that he is strong enough to beat infinite with the ruby so Eggman and infinite wouldn’t have a chance at taking over 99.99 percent of the world
Emrel should've been a boss in something. It could've been really good as you wouldn't know whats coming
Just a bit of context, most of Mephiles’ lines are lifted directly from 06, that “truly disappointed” line is a direct callback to 06 when he offered Shadow the chance to join him but Shadow refused.
unrelated to memphis, i rly like that grandpa eggman looks a lot like eggmans 06 design in proportions
His name is Gerald…
I think I’m the only one that actually kind of likes infinite
@@arivivith4375 let’s hope he does reappear
And they could improve the silly "I am not weak" line.
so a challenge run that leads back to another Dark Link isk encounter
3:54
Dr.Eggman: was almost blowing Sonic to mince meat in the vacuum of space, not scintillating enough for you? Hmmmm?! 🤨
Naaahhhhh he's a WIMP
Im sorry but my brain picked out "eggman, blowing, sonic, meat" immediately out of this sentence first 💀💀
🤨
Yeah, i don't think it would have worked, but it would have been neat to see him try
I mean. If Colors DS isn't canon, the IDW comics make it very clear Silver is from a better future, at the very least.
@guiteshima I don’t know if those are canon anymore either, though.
@@Hurtle885hu8bu I'm pretty sure they are... I mean, there's no reason for them not to be at this point. They're trying to avoid retcons as much as they can. It'd be weird if they decided to retcon the comic characters being mentioned in Frontiers.
the quality of the writing with this boss fight is just insane. i genuinely never thought i'd be sympathising with mephiles but here we are lol
You don’t realize Mephiles how important he was to shadow’s character
And then he got erased. Bye bye character development from 06
I know that Shadow never appeared in Sonic Rush Adventure, but Johnny should have been in it. They literally give shadow a surfboard, then make him fight Metal Overlord. Johnny is perhaps the most forgotten sonic character, and he definitely deserves to show up again.
but johnny and shadow never met? all thebosses in shadow gens has encountered shadow in some way.
I'll watch a Mephiles survives video
Infinite. Like, they had SUNSET HEIGHTS from Sonic Forces.
Which doesn't make sense and I read on Reddit that they have a Frontiers stage in the game and no Shadow stages
Fr
Please pursue a What if Mephilis survived~! I miss that content from you man~!
Infinite as a boss wouldn't make sense as its said shadow doesn't know alot of the places he is visiting or remember alot of the bosses he is fighting so it really wouldn't make sense for him to mess with the future, also his main goal is to defeat black doom and not care about the others.
Shads did slaughter the dudes team so that gives him plenty reason to pull move like the goopy stuffs man an throwdown even if Shads forgets them haha
Memphis Tennessee will be the villain of Sonic X Shadow X Silver generations

To manipulate Silver and Blaze again? Nah they're not going for good writing when it comes to villain characters anymore and Mephiles is already in Shadow's section of the game being trapped in a paralleled version of dusty desert and being sealed inside the scepter of darkness again even though when Shadow tried to seal him again he couldn't and Mephiles explained why it didn't work
@Iblis_and_Mephiles_fan
You say this as if Black Doom wasn't a major part of Shadow's story.
@ new abilities are cool but wouldn't Shadow need chaos mode? Cuz that seems more than enough
YES!!!
Also i would have expected him to use a clone again to escape out of the boss gate because that would have been in his character to do so.
you're forgetting that this mephiles is weaker due to solaris not existing. He's literally the weaker half of a god
What may have worked 10 years ago, no longer does!”
You could say Mephiles just got weaker somehow, but it’s not because Iblis isn’t there.
Infinite wasn’t in this game because with the hands Shadow was throwing that beating would turn him into the Joker
Since Mephiles was placed in a special cave and needed 4 keys, I think even Black Doom is afraid of Mephiles
Imagine if eggman actually used metal overlord or something by pulling him from the past like what he did with classic eggman
@@gamingdudedonal3312I don't think Eggman would do that, he prolly knew Neo Metal Sonic woulda betrayed him "again" if he took him right from Sonic Heroes and making his past self the safest option for his ally
GARRULOUS! GIVE US THE 'WHAT IF MEPHILES SURVIVED?' VIDEO AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!
Question Answer:
Gerald said we're seeing glimpses of other timelines; so Diablon would be on the table as a boss fight.
Real Post:
I wasn't really a Mephiles fan - I've always found it a bit weak that he failed to do a Faustian Bargain when he's named after Mephistopheles, the demon who made the original Faustian Bargain.
Ngl, Diablon or ANY boss fight from Shadow the Hedgehog would have been neat.
Like imagine him copying your doom powers and using them against you
I really hope that mephiles being in this game means we'll see him again
Unless we get this as a dlc story, the real missed potential would be silver. We still don't know where he was or why he fought Sonic in Generations.
Mephilus as the maker from marvel comics but for sonic the hedgehog franchise would be really awesome and badass I love it.
I'm back! Now you gotta do that Mephiles/ Makerverse story video, you seemed really excited and so was I.
He was born a God who desired to destroy everything… And now he begs just to exist.
Considering he’s the conscious of Solaris kind of wish one of his quotes was
“No I won’t accept this I am a GOD!” With shadow last words to him saying “there no need for a god like you”
I do like the idea of shadow having a reoccurring enemy in Mephiles in the same way sonic has Eggman (as an aside I do believe Infinite would be a great main enemy for Silver, tho my reasoning requires more explaining), but I think the execution of Mephiles being brought to the main timeline could only properly come from him having some interaction or interference with the time eater upon his defeat.
In the future, I wanna see Sonic fight Mephiles.
No, his plan doesnt make much sense, but man is he just so awesome and fun to watch anyway
its not just the voice that i liked but its also he's lines oh god , really ian flinn is a genius on writing
Quotes from the last time we saw him
M: “Join me, Shadow. Let us teach this world a lesson and rewrite the future.”
S: “Don’t try to deceive me. You have no desire for revenge. You only crave destruction. Your only lust is to fuel Iblis until there’s nothing left of time itself.”
M: “it’s a pity Shadow the hedgehog. Truly a shame that you wish to go against me!”
So Mephiles didn’t outright confirm or deny what his intentions were, but judging by the fact he did destroy time itself, I think Shadow was spot on.
I would absolutely love to see that Blaze idea.
Infinite should've been in the game over the Biolizard but the world isn't ready for that discussion
I really like the idea that you said at the end of the video I think if he tried to take over a different dimension that would make for an insane game to be honest I need that right now 😂
YES I wanna see you write that story. Gotta be honest I don't really click on your mod videos but I'm always here for this kind of thing. ❤
I want that story. Normally I don’t care about fan stories but just that lil bit got me hyped
He could be written better if he returns. Nothing will change his backstory/prior appearance being bad though.
well people always had some love for him regardless all the covers, remixes and mashups with other dramatic audio media ever the years shows people do dig his vibe
the video mixing it with Erwin war speech from flipping Attack on Titan and the one mixing it with a Ultrakill bosses lines are insane lol
I would definitely love to see your idea on Mephiles’ possible return!
mephiles isn't an dumb, his goal was to combine with iblis and he did exactly that, he manipulated silver to try and kill sonic, beat shadow, rouge and omega by himself and he is the only villain in the series to successfully kill sonic (u can definitely tell I made this comment before watching the rest of the video)
Theres always .that. ONE
fan
I would like to say that Ian confirmed that iblis exist in blaze now after 06 due to her sacrificing herself so silver won’t die being rejected to be the vessal of iblis at the end of silver campaign so that would be a neat what if dude
🤔 this makes the what-if Mephiles/Sol Dimension thing much more interested
@@Garrulous64 oh and also blaze does infact is implied to sorta remember 06 timeline
DO IT, what if Mephiles survived would be a great video.
TBH I'd love to see Dark Gaia in Shadow Generations. It could be paired with either Eggmanland/Cool Edge/Dragon Road and Aquarium Park/Astroid Coaster/Flame Core/Wave Ocean to create another "combo" like we have been given in the base game
Why would Gaia be in Shadows story if Shadow never encountered him?
@Cruddy129 yes
I like the idea of Mephiles the Dark heading into the Sol Dimension, but I think Silver should go with Sonic instead of Shadow.
Zavo- I meant Infinite. Yeah, him. He's cool. Also Zomom.
“Stay where you belong outside my memories” -Shadow probably
