Travis... I like how you and your dad repurpose things, tear them apart... Old school nohow..your a throw back to when people could use their hands and fix things...loved hiw you drilled out the wiper motor...i would have done the same thing...your dad raised your right.... You guys are a great team.... You dad reminds me of Sam Elliott....great job guys....
Jackpot. I really like how you’re not a “parts changer”. Those original parts are so well made and, it’s so interesting to see how you and your Dad do the refurbishments. I worked as a machinist for 20 years , and I loved refurbishing old car parts and such. Y’all are starting to motivate me.
I concur. The wiper motor not turning was caused by the excessive rust flake build up. You don't know what's wrong with a part till you take it apart and inspect it.
I like your idea of the
Depression Era thinking, eat it up wear it out make it do or do without. Making the most of what you have. 👍🇺🇲
Great repair on the floor! This project just amazes me. The paint restoration is truly a work of art. Travis, you and Rick have a connection and comradery that I never had with my Dad. That, my friend, is both a blessing and a treasure for each of you. You guys have my utmost admiration. Your channel is one of the best anywhere, in my opinion.
"once we've done this then that then that... - we'll realy be coming down the home straight on this thing" 😂excellent, thank you
My Dad had a 74 king cab in Bronze. He loved that thing and washed and waxed it every weekend. One day he was using the buffer and I was bugging the crap out if him to let me give it a try. He finally let me have a go and I rewarded him by going strait trough the paint on the ridges of the hood. I thought he was gonna strangle me with the cord
Oh man. That’s a big lesson right there haha
It's hard to believe that '73 is 50 years ago. Time flies. A friend of Dad's was a small local Dodge dealer, and in his driveway, he had what I would assume would have been a brand-new 1978 version of that truck. SMH. . . that was 45 years ago.
I like this series, and you others, because you're fixing everything in the truck which you hardly ever see. Good work!
As a detailer, I find beauty in restoring older cars that have been neglected for some time. Others would see a dump box, but with enough patience and elbow grease can reveal a relic that still has potential to be driven once more! 🏆Keep up the videos champ! Love the thought process behind your build! 😎🤙
I'm with you I prefer steelies, every time. Steelies & bias plys. Man I swear in every sharpie there's a timer that starts as soon as you open the package and ends right after the third use. First person camera mode is new, nice! Rick always cracks me up "don't make me come in here and do this...'cause I will!" lol. Truck is a gem, crazy what a little elbow grease can achieve.
We never seem to get 100% through a sharpie. And yeah you caught that new camera angle. I like the 1st person mode
Why do sharpies always go blunt???
Sharpie survival tips 🖊:
1. Store them with the cap tightly on... a lot of folks screw that up.
2. Store them with the tip pointed straight down. Even in your shirt pocket.
3. Keep them out of the sun and the heat as much as is practical. Keep them inside.
4. Do NOT put them through the wash because you didn't check your pockets. Don't ask me how I know that!

PS My vote ges to the factory body color steel rims as well.
@@MaxGiganteum #2 is a big deal
@@steeliewheelies Yes it is. What kills me about your average pen is that the manufacturers place the pocket clip on the cap... which means that when you put the pen in your pocket, the clip position dictates that the pen is tip up as it sits in your pocket by default - which is the exact OPPOSITE of what it should be in order to keep the ink near the tip thus keeping the tip wet with ink and ready to write! If the clip was built into the body of the pen at the end, the tip would be at the bottom of your pocket thus helping negate the dry tip problem. So, why don't they make pens the way that makes sense? Because it would force them to redesign the pens along with all the injection moulds and quite possibly a lot of the mechanisms that hold and transport the pens as a part of the manufacturing process... and we shan't be having any of that - that would cost who knows how much money and upset about 80 or so years of tradition. They would also sell fewer pens. Snap... there it is. Interestingly, at one time you could buy small metal clips that fit onto the pens anywhere along the body of the pen. This allowed you to keep them tip down. Those disappeared around the time the 80s went into history IIRC. Here's a bit of personal trivia about me. As a 1st year mechanical engineering student at college, I was in a group of 5 that engaged in a pen saving project. The solution was to employ a simple shaft mounted disk which fit into an electric drill. You know, the kind everyone had before the cordless era. You'd mount your "dead" pens into the slots machined into the disc and then spin it up. Centrifugal force pushed any free-flowing ink down to the tip thus likely enabling the pen to function again. Talk about a seriously overengineered and overbuilt solution... I still laugh at that one to this day. We did earn an A grade however and it might have been one of the easiest A grades I ever attained. I suppose it did help that I'd learned to be a machinist long before engaging in said project... with the functional result ending up on one of the shelves in the engineering department advisor's office as a testament to overengineering. ROFL! I wonder if it's still there after all these decades? 👴🏻 Best wishes!

I love how the rivets didn't stand in the way of the repair. Such a cool truck and a great job fixing things, not just replacing
Aah! Saturday afternoon in Argentina, and I'm preparing myself to cook some dinner while watching another great video from you guys! The best company!
Appreciate it enjoy.
Had finished half of a pepperoni pizza 🍕 😋 watching these two fellas restore this truck 🚚 🛻 👌 😊
Since the truck was built in Michigan and sold to the buyer in California, either the Dodge dealer or the buyer deleted the OEM mirrors and installed (what you have)…which are called “West coast mirrors” they were quite advantageous for towing RV’s or equipment trailers that were slightly wider than the truck.
Dad knows how to survive lol. Build sheets are so dang cool, and that documentation paired with how clean this truck is I think you kinda struck gold here. Can't wait to see that carpet in there
Nice spending my Saturday morning coffee time watching you and your dad progress further on this truck. Until next time! 👍
Right on 🤙🏻
That is the sweetest Dodge I have ever seen in original condition. Great job so far . They really don't make them like that anymore.
No sir they don’t
Love the way you and your dad work on old stuff the old school way!
Definitely one of my go to watches when I see a new video show up on this truck. Nice to see a survivor like that for sure
Your dad is a wise man
Love your dad's sense of humor!
Another great video.
I'm with you, I like the ol steelies and "grand pap caps" on a truck like that.
I thought for sure that drill bit was going into your leg! Great content as usual. You should wire wheel the floor and clean and polish the chrome and side steps. It would pop nice.
As a Brit I have to say that truck is awesome
That colour would be called 'hearing aid beige' though 🇺🇸🇬🇧
I really would like to see those fender turn signals work. If you remember radio shack they did sell 12 volt miniature bulbs. The bulb was the size of a grain of rice and there were two lead wires attached. I needed some bulbs this size on my heater control on my 05 grand prix. Dealer only sold the whole heater so I wired these in and they have worked well. I'm sure you could find bulbs like those online. Maybe led now. Take them apart and tinker with them. And truck is looking good so far.
Travis, great video, nice to see you bring a dead finish back to life. Great restoration.
I can hear my dad yelling at me “do that one last” I’m loving this truck and I wanna see that carpet!
Totally hooked on your content, love the way you and your dad work together also very jealous of your place .
I’m living in the Great Depression too/ I love saving money when it’s so hard to come by!
you guys know the value of a dollar, and how to make more dollars..this site is becoming one of my favorite channels..thx for the content..
Gotta stretch every penny.
Your jack is a hydraulic this came with an old style mechanical jack. The build sheet find is so cool what a sweet old truck. 😊
Awesome truck my dad always drove Dodge trucks when I was a kid. I really miss him and it warms my heart to see you and your dad working together and please enjoy while you can. Hopefully you can get the correct color tailgate to go on it and make it complete. Great job.
I agree with you, I would source out some 1973-1980 steel Dodge truck wheels with hub caps.
Hey guys, loving this truck.
looks wayyyyy better wirhout the camper which is just my opinion. great job as always.
I was so happy to see that camper shell come off. My grandfather had a 1970s Chevy pickup when I was growing up, it had a camper shell and I hated it. I had always wished he’d take it off and show off the nice truck.
Love this videos......living in the U.K. watching these fantastic vehicles being saved is brilliant. New cars and especially electric cars just don't cut the mustard. Vehicles will never ever be made as well again and have so much character as that time period. Keep up the great work 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Thank you 👍🏻
Two well placed regulations can and WILL make manufacturers be responsible and build things to the correct standards. Stop the greed stop the waste!!😮😮😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉🎉
Loving this restoration project! (And btw, I keep waiting for your dad to say "Firestone" 😁 )
As much as I don't like the color of the truck it still looks pretty darn good. And I agree 100% with you about the wheels the steel wheels are classic. Great videos thanks.
Great truck! Really surprised you could use power tools with 1500 sandpaper! Learned something new!
So glad that I’ve stumbled across this channel!
Glad you enjoy
I agree with you stock wheels always look the best and I like the grandpappy caps and steal wheels too
Being from Utah really like the shape of your floor patch. I can't believe the how paint turned out that's awesome. Keep them coming
Amazing how this truck is being brought back to life.......Fantastic eye for detail, and fixing things, nit just putting new bits in. Back in the day this was the pride and joy of one man, and still an eye catching truck....
It definitely was you could tell he was e rocking and rolling in it.
@@theetravisbIs definitely a piece of eye candy 🍬 😍 😋 for sure. Great job on this one 😂😂😊
Travis you and your Dad do a great job restoring these classics thank you for the great content.
Thank you
Why you took the camper off??
I’m with your dad on the wheels! ❤️😎
My OPINION, those '94 up wheels look bad in '73-'93 trucks.
YOU'RE right about original wheels.
I'd paint the front and rear hubs black.
Wish I had your forklift!
Love the receiver hitch in the front. GOOD old man mod.
Super clean truck! You guys are doing great getting all the things working again. Heart job filming and editing! So cool to have the build sheet for it!
It’s a adventure truck !put the camper shell back on and detail it as well . Now it looks like every other vintage truck good but missing something!!!!
Keep up the good work !
A lot of work. I think it was worth it. The pick up looks great 👍
It's actually not a build sheet, but still cool, Paint that black stripe around the grill too! That will look cool!
Beautiful job my friend, a hello from Brazil 💪
Thanks for watching from Brazil
I'm with you dad I like the wheels that's on it now. I'm older guy too. Great video.
Great work and I love watching old school hacks/repairs to components like the heater blower and wiper motor. All the really nice work is great. The only thing I would have done which you may have done was scrub down the cab before you put the gas tank back in.
Floor weld in patch was done correctly! I look at that floor of the truck and want to pour isopropyl alcohol on it, and vinegar, and "pee be gone" spray!! LOL. You might want to apply some P.O.R. 15 on the floor in certain areas. Back when car manufacturers used single stage paint!! It can be brought back to life taking the nasty top layer off --- the paint looks great now!! Great Job!!
The truck turned out awesome! I don’t think you needed ti do the sanding step. A good cutting compound on that polisher would work just fine for you. Since you have that paper tag, I would think keeping the camper top on would be a good idea to keep it original. I hope whoever buys it keeps the top.
Been telling all our classic car friends about your channel and we all are watching and betting each other how quickly you guys get to 250,000 subs. Were hoping to see you come back to the east and do another rescue from New England in the winter time. Maybe meet up with Mustie1. (He has a huge channel on UA-cam). He is in New Hampshire. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas. Wave at the triple T for me when you go by sometime. Was my favorite truck stop in the day. There used to be a place that charged you to unload your cattle in their corrals for them to rest b4 continuing on to California that was right down the road, Bill
Wow that’s a cool story about the triple t thanks for sharing. Glad you guys are all on board watching the channel
Call the family of the old owner!!
Congrats on passing 130k! Thanks for another entertaining video.
The entire life of the Ram series of pickup trucks has been produced at the mound road assembly plant, which is in Warren Michigan. In fact, it's at mount road and 8 mile road!
I worked for a company called Ankara industries located out of Chesterfield Michigan. We used to deliver assembly brackets and hood latch assembly parts from the machines I set up.
Cool place to go to.
The SST mark on the build sheet is for the limited slip diff.
The camper shell definatley makes the truck🦾🔥🔥🔥
Very interesting 🤔 I truly like the truck because I bought a new 100 4/4 in 76. I can't believe how clean yours is. That girl is a show piece, thanks for sharing 😁.
Mr. B. Here ! 👀😎👍. Nice job on clean up ; also your dad’s oil trick works, I know my 58 Olds blower motor did the same thing . 👍👍👍👍 🍸🍸
Old school tricks work. Glad you enjoyed.
Loved it ! 👍👍
Travis, you rock! Love your work. You and your Dad make an excellent team. And you have amazing taste in your music. ❤
If you move that voltage regulator to the fender well, away from the area where the "bird bath" hoid dumps water on it everytime you open it, it'll last FOREVER.
Mine's 31 years old now on my '91.5 Cummins.
On them the heat from the head cooks them. ANOTHER reason to move it.
Movrd
I watched the whole series. love it.
but gotta say my heart hurt a little when you took the camper shell off.
Thanks for getting that thing off the truck.
Waiting for that wiz wheel with no guard send a projectile somewhere 😮😮😮 Safety counts!!!😊😊😊
hey great video man came out amazing!
So far I've sealed both Rocker Panels & floor patches on a '92 Nissan D24 Pickup. An inner Fender cut/weld to graft a used front corner & Rad Support on a '91 Toyota P/U. And just sealed my new Gutters, 6 End Caps with Eastwood Seam Sealer. There's still more than half the can left. Fill the air space in the can with Propane Gas to store the product. It'll never skin over or harden, (this works for Brake Fluid too! No air inside. No spoiled Fluid!).
When I started working for a Chrysler/Jeep/AMC Dealer back in '79 when I got out of the Army, we could rarely send an Alternator, starter motor, and a few other choice pieces back to Chrysler without tearing apart first and try and repair them! By the 1080's, that was too expensive and labor cost more than time, so we started R & R the items for a faster fix rate, especially on warranty jobs.
🎉🎉🎉 you have good control wheeling the paint. Turned out nice 👍.
I love watching how y'all figure out how to get stuff done on this vehicle, like the wiper motor cleaning. Do you plan to put a tailgate on it or just leave it off, ready for the camper shell? Thanks for sharing.
If I can find one
@@theetravisb First thing a buyer is going to ask you. ;-)
I like it better with the topper on the truck!😊
Absolution a cool truck, nice to see this one’s going to be saved
What a sweet old Dodge!
Beautiful truck!
I'm with you on the wheels, the steelies look so much better.
Awesome job brother. I wish my dad was still with us. He was a Korean vet with ptsd I lost him when I was 14yrs old. Now I'm 53 and enjoying your life with your dad. Enjoy every minute my brother. Once again Awesome job. Be safe.
That is what everybody is wanting their trucks is steelies and dog dish hubcaps
"Were gonna force it to be serviceable"
Cool! Didn’t expect another video this soon.
I'm replacing my fuel pump for third time in 2 years in my 2013 ford e250 no more Chinesium fuel pumps. The plastic housing swelled up couldn't hardly get it out of the hole in the tank.
Another example of why to avoid chinesium parts in the first place... some folks think they're saving money by going with them but they get bitten in the end and they spend even more time, effort and money to effect repairs all over again! 🤦🏻♂
- Max Giganteum
I love your projects. I had a 68 long bed Dodge and an 81 LBD. Drove them for 43 yrs. Where running complete when I let them go. One thing... please adjust that p-side hood pin! The lift on that side is miserable. Maybe thespring needs adjustment as well. Still have my 94 Cheyenne LB in the driveway -only255k on the clock...Keep working .. Take care of Dad
Good job nice truck
Looks AWESOME! What a huge difference after sanding and waxing! 👍💯
Great show, like how you save whatever you can.
Jr w/c = junior west coast mirrors. You have the original mirror set
Love the content you put out,,you and your dad are a pair of cool cats
Your videos are really well done. Editing is king.
I don't bother with those air cut off tools anymore myself. Dewalt cordless and a 6" death wheel " no guard off course I'm not a wuss".
Btw your Dad is a hoot.
Yeah dewalts are pretty decent tools.
@@theetravisbjust joined btw. Are you looking for a heavy welding bench? Or a metal utility bench?
There is a guy in south Phoenix that has some really nice 44 x 60 x ⅝ thick tables 3" tube legs. For $350 he had 10 of them I'll see if ha has any more if you want.
Ok no more ball busting, you and your dad are doing a great job ! I love the truck how much was it new did it say on the sheet
I love the older Dodge trucks
You guys are hilarious I love you guys you guys do awesome work y'all work together good you're just good all around people Keep On Keepin On
Travis, if you can afford to. Get yourself a can of Eastwood Seam Sealer (grey or black). It's Titanium Dioxide & Carbon Black (& a couple packs of acid brushes). This sealer is amazing for filling & covering body welds. Never cracks or shrinks, paintable in 1 hour. With just half the welds & this sealer. You can fill a panel in half the time. VERY versitile product, & a can will last you a very long time/maybe a dozen projects. Worth every penny!
Very. Clean. Paint. Looks. New thanks
Your 100 percent right dad. It's not dead till you look more.
Or make a tool. To do a job.
Or for me the tip. Or garbage place was my shop for free. Make things work. Think out of the box.
Yes dad I agree. Mick Australia 👍
all the american cars and trucks ive had never found a build sheet, very rare noeadays.that truck would make great money here in the UK.great vids keep it going
Amazing transformation!
Travis, very much enjoy your restorations. I've learned a great deal about engine fundamentals (turn over, compression, spark, fuel) by watching your videos. You might enjoy reading "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck. There's much in the book that is not in the Henry Fonda movie. For example, the Joad family jalopy breaks down on Route 66 enroute to California. They determine they've lost compression in a cylinder, and improvise by winding copper wire around the piston ring. The copper melts, enabling the compression that they need. In another scene, Tom Joad and Preacher Casey are underneath the engine, torquing the oil pan bolts in the recommended sequence as Preacher Casey has an epiphany about the plight of the displaced Okies along the Mother Road. Great reading!
That’s cool. I’ve seen the movie. Should read the book it’s always better.
If you want to try to get those fender/signal lights working, you might be able to convert them to yellow LED's.
Exrodinary work = thank you for your hard work 😓 ❤
Love that Truck!, I have to agree with your Dad on the Wheels!, I had the same ones on my 96 Ram, Also that Wiper Motor was already a Reman "The Blue Color" think that was AC Delco that painted them Blue, Looking forward to seeing the rest!
