When you're interviewing Dr.Lustig, *let Dr.Lustig TALK!*
I think this particular host is trying to appeal to the very uninformed audience. Those of us who have listened to Dr. Listig know these basic points. So he is attempting to slow the doctor down to get him to discuss the elementary issues.
@@terrimurrell6037 Exactly.
Dr Lustig is a blessing and the way he explains it , easy to understand .
Dr Lustig is a hero.. so grateful for him.
Great to see two of my favorite people in communication! I didn't realize, but am not surprised, that Professor Sachs is interested in metabolic health.
Absolutely appreciate Dr. Lusting. He possesses a most important gift….being able to communicate things simply. In doing so, his voice is carrying far and wide, and making the necessary impact to dismantle the lies that have held so many of us prisoners to our appetites and disease processes.
Thank you Dr. Lustig! And thank you for arranging this presentation for economists! It's critical to connect the impact of this on our economy! Please continue the conversation! 💡💡💡
God Bless you Dr Robert Lustig 🙏🥰🙏
After the 3rd interruption by the host: I COULDN'T TAKE IT. I ENDED THIS VIDEO!
The interviewer should interview himself 😂
Great interview, seen many with Dr. Lustig, this one is especially good, because of the good summarizing in between. Think if this one had been the first I saw I would understand it immediately. Thank you both for what you are doing for the world.
It's a lousy interview
Well because there's unlimited time in the world,,,,,, the interviewer talks too much
Love both these gentlemen. Enjoyed the interview.
Great interview.
The intersection between economics and nutritional science is rarely discussed. In the 1970s, sugar, trans-fats, and seed oils likely had a unseen undercurrent of institutional support due to the three being “inflation friendly.” Meat and other high quality foods required higher costs to produce.
If “a calorie was a calorie” you could feed a lot more people for a lot less by encouraging people to go vegetarian and eat processed foods.
Consuming processed food costs the consumer a lot more money. But the profit margin is much higher for the producer. Especially when it's subsidized by the government and our taxes. That's before you calculate the cost of ill health to the consumer. Ill-health has the best profit margin of all. 14:20

I was referring to 1970s policy considerations made by government and educational institutions. At that time, saturated fat was seen as the biggest health threat facing the US populace. Red meat, eggs, milk, etc were seen as bad as well as being more expensive to produce. Government augmented food policy based on that assumption, granting processed foods institutional favor (AKA subsidies.) Which is also why Cheerios cereal is labeled “heart healthy” on the box.
@@rawmilkmike I’m not sure what the cost of processed foods would be without the subsidies. But from the 1970s onward, the US government thought it would be getting more “bang-for-it’s-buck” on a calorie standpoint. Subsidies for processed foods would feed more people, keep them healthier, and keep inflation lower.
As a big fan of both great men, I have to say Prof. Sachs as a host just interrupted too much and too often during Dr. Lustig talking which is to my surprise as if he was fighting with Dr. Lustig for the time to talk. Maybe, Prof. Sachs is so used to be the interviewee who does the major talking that he confused his new role as the one who should limit himself primarily to asking questions and letting his expert guest do the most talking. Well hope he will do better job next time.
Dr. Lustig, on the other hand, showed so much patience and elegance in the presence of a very disruptive host. BTW, I never found anyone who explain and reason his point in such clear, smooth and understandable way like Dr. Lustig. I wish I had a prof. like him when I was in college.
This is great. I love that Jeff Sachs gets out there doing what he can to intervene in America’s insane foreign policy, works towards sustainability and still has time to get together with someone-also a great man-as far afield as Robert Lustig.
Thank you for this brilliant program 🎉
I like how the host asks for basics definitions so the audience no matter background/education can be on the same page.
The host ruins the whole thing
I hope people will decide to listen to what's been said as I did in 2017 listening to another spokesman in Italy who changed my life by teaching me the exact same concepts even if not in such grat details.
🙏 Thank you so much for this one more opportunity to listen to Dr. Lustig words which we all should memorise ❤
When was this recorded?
The vitamin industry might be another one to tackle. And the additives.
Incredible! What a (sweet) treat. Jeffrey Sachs is here, what a joy to see and listen to both of you simultaneously.
56:44 _"If a food has a label, it's a warning label!"_
What if it’s a organic label?
@@Spartices I'm sure he was referring to the "Nutrition Facts" label, which unprocessed foods don't require.
@@KenJackson_US I’m just being cheeky.
Such wonderful words
Dr Lustig voice is purely addictive just as is Peter attia's. It is such a shame that he didn't do his own narration for his book.
Isn't his book on Audible entirely in German?
Thank you both very much.
I ha e a question about BMI .
As one builds more muscle the weight goes up and hence a fitter person has a higher BMI.
Also at 77 I'm 3 inches shorter than I was 20 years ago. Does that mean I need lose weight?
Thanks in advance a ce for scientific answers.

Is your book in the libraries dr lusting
Thank you de lending
is it my connection? screen freezes, voices are snipped and not synched. too bad. can't watch.
I've only read one of Dr Lustig's books, "Fat Chance", about 10 years ago. First time I felt I had a grasp of industrially produced sweeteners. I'll order "Metabolical". I'm sure there is information out there about processes in UPFs. I've gone as far as I can with the manufacture of "vegetable protein", info seems aimed at investors not health.
I understand some of dr lasting I think by the way he speaks he s a great dr
So interesting about the leptin not working!
too much unnecessary interruption by the host !
Totally agree! It's so annoying🇨🇦
You say this every time. Do your own channel then
It is annoying.
😢Let Dr. Lustig talk!!!!!

Dr lasting what causes inflammation everything is inflammation
The host interrupted Dr lustig too much that I couldn’t continue to listen. Too bad.
🥰💘🤝🙏✍
So am I allowed an apple to keep my bowels working regularly
I don't drink alcohol
My dr said I havnt to eat diabetic sweets or biscuits they have laxative in it cause s diarrhoea
The doctor pointed out that obesity simply doubles your chances of getting type two diabetes. It's not the cause of diabetes. Obesity tells you nothing about the individual's health. Food is what causes the ill-health, but calorie counting and food restriction are what causes the obesity. The food that causes the ill health also makes it impossible to lose weight. Even if it isn't what caused the weight gain in the first place. When you consume the right food , you can actually lose weight while increasing calorie intake. 14:20 If you think humans are omnivores, you're better off not dieting.
What do I eat to keep my bowels move regularly
This is the easiest question in the world

Dr is there a biscuit I can eat you name one or are they none dr
Well I use an airfryer

UGH! wanted to watch but Sachs wouldn't shut up! Can't take it, bye
Not a good interviewer. Too much unnecessary interruptions. Too bad.
Why is this disturbing to you? That's the question.
Am sterilised dr I don't I would die
Waste of a precious guest like Dr Lustig because of an interfering host
The host should shut up, zip it
Geez, he's stepping in every single question before Prof. Robert Lusting and elaborate the answer. So annoying. Let people talk for god's sake
What a terrible host. He needs to shut his mouth and stop interrupting.
