I have 3 tools I would want on me at all times. 1. A bowie knife or machete, or baseball bat, for use in small areas such as houses or store aisles. Blades would work better after the zombies have become more rotted and the skulls are not fresh hard. For starters I would use a bat to bash skulls in. 2. A crossbow (something like what Daryl from TWD uses) for stealth and taking out a handful of walkers from a distance. 3. A staff or spear. This doubles as a walking aid, as well as a weapon. Imagine being chased by 20 zombies. too many to handle safely in hand to hand combat. you run up to a tree or a car, climb up on it, and safely dispatch the zombies with head stabs from a higher perch. Using this logic you could single handedly take out hundreds at once.
i agree but instead of a crossbow i would choose a recurve bow cause you can shoot it faster and there is alot less to break or fix compared to a crossbow
The small spear knife heads need the spear shaft to be tapered, otherwise the spear may not penetrate properly. An alternative that can also double up for survival are good double blade throwing knives. They make better spears, and animal traps. Machetes are also a favourable weaon. Long shaft machetes serve many purposes, including acting as an intimidating sword. Compact parang machetes also serve many purposes, and act as a discreet way to carry a sturdy blade. Another one to consider is good ol' recurve bow with a good stock of light weight carbon arrows, half fleched, and half naked shafts ready to build with parts on hand. Easton Powerflight shafts are a good choice, but stick with feather fletching, as vinyl vane fletching can warp out of shape whilst in your pack, or covered quiver. Base Ball Bats are another good choice, but Maple ones, not Ash, or Aluminium. Zombie apocolypse is a good themed excuse to prep, but in reality, when the shit hits the fan, it's real life desperate people that you need to deter from coming near you, and your short supplies. Once they know you're there with supplies, your person, or camp is in jeopardy. There is no way to prevent this, so ability to remain on the move is paramount, and stash supplies in sealed large containers so you may return later to use them. Survival on the go, whilst being stealthy is probably the only way to get by. Being prepared to defend yourself is your greatest asset, but there will always be people that have guns, and ammunition.
Hey Joe, good that you added those last few seconds! It actually explained how difficult it was to be serious on the subject. :) Keep up the good work!
LOL Thanks man. I wonder how many stick around long enough to get to the bloopers. This was a fun video but a hard one to make with a serious face. This had so many outtakes that it could fill a 30-minute video...
Best overall imo is well made bo staff with one end having bayonet type spear point, other being blunt force end. Reach advantage, great defensive weapon, doubles as walking stick, lots of other uses
I've used machetes a lot up here in Vermont. I'll tell you machetes are crazy strong and sharp. You can literally hit a tree as hard as possible with a machete and not break it! It's a real life sword that is classified as a tool. I'm getting a 28" or 24" machete if a Melee situation arises. Or a Axe. But a real tree chopping Axe because that's what it's made for. Chopping and not breaking. Axes and machetes are basically real life Norse weapons but are viewing as tools. Nice job on this bud. Appreciate it
Very fun video. The BRK MB, I'm familiar with but the tips and the Deer Creek BZK are new to me. Thanks for some Saturday morning entertainment with my coffee.
There is no way I would thrust with a Barong when there are blood-borne pathogens at play. If you're going to thrust with a weapon, go Gladius. At least you have a handguard.
That gave me visions of my youth watching the original TMNT where the dude in the hockey mask tagged Raphael with a cricket bat lol And yea, I think I just dated myself. haha thanks!
Pretty good. Id probably go w/ a steel like 1060 or 1075 rather than the A2 tool steel for quicker, easier sharpening of that big blade but overall not bad.
My choice would be my 1.2kg/70cm forest axe, my 0.7kg hand-axe/hatchet, and whatever caveman-armaments I make with the use of these axes, be it spears for fortification/traps, projectiles, or incendiary birch-tar grenades made in the field. I don't believe in a zombie-apocalypse, but this would be my choice in any event that forces to fight in the wild without firearms. ,,, may not be able to blow up a tank, but drenching it in fire is certainly doable for caveman-guerilla warfare.
I love a Barong (personally my choice is the Condor Barong)... nothing like the gladius sword from the movie Gladiator tho... two totally different blades. Thanks for the video tho!
Yes you have, I soooo look forward to this. I ALMOST named you by name but this one is different enough I thought I'd leave you a way out if you didn't want to participate. Thanks Mark!
Ok. Now for the real world tools that even the guys at the car wash will not steal from your car: 1. an old flat edge screwdriver. the favorite of the homeless. Driver door pocket. Short one for walking around. Long one for distance. They are used like a dagger. 2. the Home Depot escrima stick. 28 inch black, iron water pipe with end caps spray painted black. Indestructible. People will steal your tire thumper, but not this. Sits on the floor area of the back seat. You can make a shorter, narrower version that could be used like a Yawara stick. Have that too, if I leave the car and want something stuck in a pocket.
I would never use an 3 inch blade in a zombie outbreak, same goes for any blade that you would need to stab with that doesn't come from hilt to tip into a triangular point. The 3 inchers would be useful for regular humans but like throwing stars all they would do is damage the flesh and probably not get past the skull. Any blade that bowes in the center like the 2 other blades you showed here would be useful for a chopping or deep slicing but same as the smaller blades, trying to penatrate the skull would be difficult to do. I will however give you credit for showing off blades that would be ideal for just about everything else you would need to do while not killing zombies. As for myself my go to weapons would probably be my recurve bow. Silent but can still get into the skull pretty easily with the arrows. Plus it's quiet with easily interchangeable tips depending on if you need to ditch the tip in a pinch and just grab the arrows. The next weapon would be a Gerber machete. It's light. Has a smooth blade and can go through a 3 inch piece of wood with a dull edge. It's also practical for everyday usage. And finally I'd probably go with a K-Bar for an actual knife. It's usually a standard issued blade for hand to hand combat with the USMC so you know it works. It holds an edge with the best of them. It's also a fixed edge blade so you don't have to be concerned with you stabbing into something and it cutting off your fingers if the lock breaks on you because of the force. Plus it has a nice little blood groove so if you need to go hunting with it and an animal runs off it will still let the blood flow well enough it should be easy to track. But everyone has their own style. And hopefully we'll never have to see what works and doesn't in real life.🤠
I am a fan as well. www.sparrowslockpicks.com/product_p/h5.htm Keep in mind, the prices are in Canadian Dollars so you'll need to run those prices through a conversion calculator to see the accurate number.
The best defense in a zombie apocalypse is AVOIDANCE! Everybody makes these silly lists of weapons under the implication that you HAVE TO kill zombies. NOBODY stops to realize that confronting them increases their risk of getting killed and becoming one. Yes, you will need weapons and tools to survive, but running away should ALWAYS be your primary survival strategy. Movement and distance are really your best weapons.
People are looking at it the wrong way, not everyone has these so they're not that useful, me personally I would go for a classic wooden baseball bat, it has reach, won't get stuck in the skull, won't break or go dull, and it would be super satisfying to hear the crack after every hit. Plus there are a lot of good baseball puns to be made, you could even add barbed wire like neegan from the walking dead or nails for fun
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with your three choices. Well done Amigo! However I must correct you on one point, Zombies do exist........Congress is loaded with them.
That depends on which season of the walking dead you're watching. Season 1 it's like a concrete vault. Season 7 is like a bag of jello wrapped in glad wrap lol
I know, but bone get harder when dead, you know:-) you have to get the angle perfect. No i dont belive in zombies, just saying. but as you say, inntersting way to think when it comes to gear and stuff. In walking dead, they can soon just use they'r finger.
WOW !! Didn't see or think all that was coming !!! Though urinate on a hornets nest & ........... well it happens !! Or maybe like Jessie Ventura, I think it was, get a small hand held minigun !!!!

That Bark River Moro Barong stirs something in me. It may be a great woods tool, but it screams out for martial application.
Doesn't it though??? It is a dandy tool in the woods but when I look at it, I see a weapon. Thanks Charles!
Best overall imo is well made bo staff with one end having bayonet type spear point, other being blunt force end. Reach advantage, great defensive weapon, doubles as walking stick, lots of other uses
Well, well done, Joe! Thanks for the fun!!
Thanks for watching and for understanding the spirit in which this was made lol

Thanks for some Saturday morning entertainment with my coffee.
Awesome! Many seem to have missed the point of it as entertainment. Glad to spend some time with you this morning :) Thanks!
LOL, very well thought out. Especially the thought of disabling those running ahead of you in a chase. Good stuff!
Just trying to keep the humor up lol Thanks William!
There is no way I would thrust with a Barong when there are blood-borne pathogens at play. If you're going to thrust with a weapon, go Gladius. At least you have a handguard.
Gladius all the way it worked great for 2000 years why not against Zombies.
Fun choices. I like this tag series.
It was fun! But sooo hard to do with a straight face lol
You could use the BZK to fashion the ultimate zombie killing weapon from a nice bit of willow. The Cricket bat🏏🔪💀
Very cool ! Picking 3 favorites is always thought provoking. Thanks for sharing !
Agreed. Thanks bud!
Great choices. Love the Halo tips. Outside-the box-thinking and something I hadn't seen before. Thanks brother!
Thanks for watching Leo. Did the USPS bring you anything Saturday?
Good stuff, the thumbnail is awesome.
The Sparrows points look particularly useful, thanks for including them.
Thanks man, and thanks for the tag!! I love those Halo Points. I really need to slow down and make a dedicated video just for them. Thanks!
Feral Woodcraft You have me thinking I "need" some...
Fun video, yet good thought process of picking weapons that could be used different ways or have multiple purposes.
Thanks Harry, much appreciate Sir!
love it bro!! sorry im a lil late to the video! very awesome choices my friend! did this tag back a while ago. blooper was great!
Very fine video, It is no wonder there were no zombies in the background............
lol Thanks for watching Ben!

Thanks for the video tho!
Oh I know they are different but that doesn't mean it can't remind me of it :P Thanks Roy
Interesting picks, Joe. Good points made on all your choices.
Well... looks like I've been tagged. Interesting choice of blades brother. I'll have to put some thought into this one.
Thanks for the video.
Yes you have, I soooo look forward to this. I ALMOST named you by name but this one is different enough I thought I'd leave you a way out if you didn't want to participate. Thanks Mark!
Guess I'm going to have to get out and film this.
great job Joe! I enjoyed seeing your picks!
Who are you again? So many names is making my old age flair up....Gunner, oh yes :-P Thank you Sir, I appreciate it!

Fun video! Gary from C2G Fab is a stand up guy!
Agreed, Gary is the MAN!
awesome thinking and very good to see these blades! great vid. :)
Thanks for watching!
Nice picks!
Thank ya Sir! Are you going to take this on?

Fun tag Joe. Believe it or not I have three very strange weapons for that haha
Joe, you have been drinking too much coffee! I had to check my setting to make sure I didn't have you speeded up. :D
Just making sure you[re paying attention ;) Thanks for watching David.
like the sparrow points, you have a link for them?

Imagine watching this video during a zombie apocalypse 😂
Zombies are NOT hypothetical. They were all there to see crying their eyes out on November 8th!
Too true. In fact I almost said that very thing lol Thanks!
Is the ELMAX on Bark River knives a good one ?
Definitely. I have 3 in Elmax I believe and none have given me issue. Thanks!
Did you get a new camera? If you did the quality looks better. (Not saying the quality was bad btw). Nice picks too
Thanks bud! And yes I did. Still getting it figured out though. I sincerely hope you take this on ;)
.....ok lol

VERY WELL though out! Good vid.
Thank you Sir, I appreciate that greatly!
nice video brother subscribed
this was a good one, Joe
Thank ye Sir!
Are these the 3 you own or the 3 you would choose? The Halo Points were unexpected.
Zombie kill frenzy
Sparrow points are useless, the blades are long enough to take down a rabbit but not penetrate a zombie's skull.
I like those Sparrow points. Kill the Zombies !!! :D
They are pretty cool. Thanks Chris!
throwing knives and ninja stars
🤛🏻POW 🤜🏻
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with your three choices. Well done Amigo! However I must correct you on one point, Zombies do exist........Congress is loaded with them.
Touche! Point well made Sir and I agree. Thanks!
i have a true gladio.
I bet that is a fun blade!
Isn't a machete the most effective? It's a a long bladed, easily wieldable weapon
Geez Joe, Really.... LOL!
hahaha!! I am not ALL bushcraft and cooking :P Thanks Robert!
not easy too penetrate a human skull.
That depends on which season of the walking dead you're watching. Season 1 it's like a concrete vault. Season 7 is like a bag of jello wrapped in glad wrap lol

hopefully this is a one off video...
Maybe, we'll see. You probably won't see this sort of thing unprovoked but if a friend such as Bryan asks me to, I will. Thanks for watching!
lol good stuff
Thanks Reaper lo
My is baseball bat, machete, and a swis knife
haha zombie killing Joe the expert!
Yep. I am on the internet after all!
Ok, here's where it all started! ua-cam.com/video/w9vbg5lXNUE/v-deo.html&lc=z22whxmisnu0xlhnsacdp43bthlszcqzgibvwbmptm1w03c010c.1490461070405531
Your first option seems impractical.

Scary, I know.
Not reality yet ,dunt dunt doon
Put Tag at Chris T from ppm101 !! He loves these kind of challenges !! Ha !!
Wally Ceiphert He started this challange...
TheSmokinApe Actually, Tac did. Don't watch my vid! Everyone will have a meltdown because I broke the rules and added a Glock 19. #f***therules
+TheSmokinApe Actually Tac started it. Chris' was a good trio, even if he cheated ;)
@PREPAREDMIND101 No one expects you to play by the rules. :-P
WOW !! Didn't see or think all that was coming !!! Though urinate on a hornets nest & ........... well it happens !! Or maybe like Jessie Ventura, I think it was, get a small hand held minigun !!!!
zombies...meh
The hypothetical can be fun :) Thanks for watching Robert!
