I love how manufacturers of guns, knives etc are coming out with all these 'zombie' edition products. It's so fun and the products are usually just a well-proven standard units with an awesome green paintjob :) I love how the Ruger .22 won at the end as well. Plastic mags and rimfire ammo means you can fight zombies for days without having to go back to base to resupply.
Its good, but other options for guns would be the MP5-SD (It has 3 fire modes, it's easy to use, it's accurate and it's quiet so staying under the radar is more easier) and a Spas 12 (Easy to carry and is very powerful)

In a zombie apocalypse, ammo will be a thing of the past as everyone runs out the first few months. Unless You're an arms distributor, better start learning how to machete.
I mean I wouldn't say a mosin isn't accurate. If you mean unrestored then yeah they have some short comings but the one I restored to what I would consider "Russian sniper quality" (even though they just slapped PU scopes on standard issue rifles) with a PU scope, trigger job and work done to smooth the bolt as well as floating the barrel and bedding the stock will hit at 800 yards relatively consistently. Is it a top end R700 or L96? No, but it will hold a solid group from within 500 yards and will hit at 800 with the right loads. In an apocalypse situation all you'd have is time so with some ingenuity you could fashion a crate of mosins in to some very respectable long range weapons.
Never take fully automatic Weapons without silencer. AK'S are much too load, Shotguns and Snipers too but it dont cares if the head of your target is missing so they cant hear you anymore :D

I completely agree that a semi-automatic or even a bolt action .22LR rifle is the best zombie defense weapon. You can get 60 grain sub-sonic rounds or 32 grain hyper velocity rounds. Plus many designs now use a 25 round magazine so you can hold lots of rounds and feed them reliably. Also, the .22LR has very little recoil and noise plus scopes remain accurate on .22LR caliber rifles for long periods of time because of the minimal recoil. Definitely my first choice if battling a horde of zombies and I need to remain on the move. Lastly, .22LR is the most diverse round I have ever used. You can get shot shells, hyper velocity hollow points, heavy sub-sonic rounds, primer only rounds, etc.
I think any guns that are high cap, low recoils and most importantly DOES NOT require a lot of concentration to fire rapidly would always be the best surviving weapons. Like a good iron sight or holographic sight, and bearable noise would also be a plus, short length, but sometimes go with some long, wooden stock for melee ability, like a baseball bat works well in lots of situations. A collapsible stock ak with extended mag is a good choice with a silencer for the terrible noise, hip firing...
I know this isn't very relevant, but here's my top 5 guns for the zombie apocalypse, although it will probably never happen. Feel free to post yours as a reply. For an all purpose role primary, I'd choose an AK-47 because it's extremely reliable, it will always work, and it's practical up to a medium 300-400 meters. For an all purpose sidearm, I'd choose the FN 5.7 pistol with a KPOS kit. It's extremely accurate even out to 100m, it's much less noisy than 9mms or .45s, it has a giant magazine, it has low recoil, plus it looks nice and is light. Rounds are rare though. For a long range role, I'd choose the Barrett M107. It's noisy, it's huge, but it can really shred some things apart. It also has the compensator-suppressor part built into the barrel. It's accurate even at 800 yards, and it's something you never want to get shot at by. For an anti-personnel role, I'd choose the Beowulf .50. It has the same size as the AR-15 platform guns, but it fires a massive .50 round. The platform is also highly customizable too, so you can put whatever you like on it. For a shotgun, I think the AA-12 is a good idea. It has as good reliability, if not better than the AK-47, but can also spew out 20 12 gauge shotgun shells at 300 rounds per minute. I think the cons of this weapon is that it's heavy and it consumes a lot of ammunition.
I wouldn't bother with a long ranged rifle like that. If whatever you're shooting at is far enough away to necessitate using such a rifle, you need to rethink your rules of engagement. I'd at least pick a lighter, more practical firearm for that category. All of your other choices are solid, except for maybe the Beowulf .50. The recoil is very tough to manage, so accuracy in a firefight, target re-acquisition and such will all be a problem.

I would think that if I had an elevated position to lock down, zombies wouldn't get to me and whoever's friend's got shot would stay clear of the area since they know their friend exploded. I heard that if you buy a complete Beowulf .50 with the custom lower receiver, it has as much recoil as an AR-15. Don't quote me on it though.
GunFuMaster But reaching an elevated position, lock it down, and be able to maneuver and shoot with that rifle, (which weighs at least 30 pounds and costs about $9000) would be impractical. The Barret is good at what it's made for; engaging single or low quantity targets from miles away with ample time to set up the shot. You're not going to be taking those kinds of shots. Such a huge and heavy rifle can't even be accurately or practically shoulder fired, and shooting from any position other than prone will get very exhaustive, very fast. This isn't call of duty, you have to think of cost and weight of ammo, cost and weight and maneuverability of the rifle, etc. You're much better off getting a lighter caliber in a lighter rifle, so you can shoot it longer, hold more ammo, shoot quicker, etc. At that point, I'd much rather have an M1A; it has sniper-like accuracy in a heavy hitting but practical round in a semi-automatic platform in case things get too intense. They take box magazines, accept optics in the scout version and are much lighter and more maneuverable than a Barret .50 caliber sniper. I won't quote you on that. .223 is considered to be a peashooter in regards to recoil; it's extremely light. Check this out: 50 Beowulf Full Auto These range guys are having trouble handling this recoil in a calm setting at the range. Good luck controlling that and getting any rounds on target with your adrenaline pumping and your life on the line.
You have to take into account how common and easy to find ammo is, it's one thing if you have the best possible gun, it's another if there's no ammo for it.

Excellent anti-Zed philosophy. A .22LR semi-auto is the perfect zombie apocalypse weapon: it's the least noisy, least recoil, lightest weight, can carry the most ammo, and has enough velocity to penetrate the skull while providing the least amount of spatter mess (thus risking further infection and providing a tool for precision work as well as close- to mid-range work. At least that's what the zombie guru, Max Brooks, taught me. ;)
Guys you need to replace the ruger 10/22 with the M&P 15/22. Much more reliable easy load magazines and much easier to clean. I'll be looking forward to your reassessment. The M&P 15/22 is my go to Zombie rifle. Trump won, yay!
My ✔️ for the zombie apocalypse firearm is- 1. Quiets Silencer 2. Semiautomatic for fast Zombies. 3. Large capacity for 300+ Zombies at once. 4. One shot and done head shot caliber round. 5. Ease of use and weather conditions.
I realize that. I love zombie realted things, games, movies, etc... BUT, it's dumb to buy zombie printed weapons, just because it has a logo, doesn't make it better, it's a novelty... for fun. Bullets on the other hand could be great, like green tipped tracers....

Apart from the entertainment value, just about all the (good) advice I've seen about surviving the Z-poch would be equally as useful in any conceivable apocalyptic or economic downfall. Everything from a massive natural disaster to an pandemic disease outbreak (that didn't produce zombies) to a violent political overhaul. Most of the advice (the good advice) relates to solid, widely applicable survival skills and use of firearms.

I agree with most of what they said except for the AK-74 In a post apocalyptic scenario you cant go to the store and buy ammo. You are going to want to go with a mass produced round, in America .223 or 7.62 x 39 is your best bet. You have to think about all the people that stockpile ammunition and wont make it.
I'm in California. Zombies have rights out here I can't violate. Governor Brown passed a law saying I have to let them bite me and my family. I also have to teach my kids to be sensitive to zombies and their zombie culture. Also, if I get bit by a zombie with mercury fillings I have to pay a hazardous material fee to the state, because I will become a toxic zombie with the added mercury in my system.

.22LR rounds have enough power to penetrate a human body, but not leave. It will literally bounce around inside the body until it loses all velocity. I friend of mine ,who's a local police officer, said that one of the scariest things to be shot at as a police officer is a .22. They can absolutely devastate internal organs. Hope this helped.
an SKS would be great due to it's bolt hold open, stripper clips, and bayonet. If you like the SKS for the bolt hold open, but want an AK for the capacity, i'd recommend the Vz. 58. It can even accept modified AK mags and drums (with no bolt hold open though.) I'd choose the Vz because it's the best of both.
I have a brick of 350 9mm ammo and a brick of 375 .22 LR ammo. The 9mm weighs 5 or 6 times as much. .22 is relatively easy to find, quiet, accurate, has no recoil (a 4 year old or a 104 year old could fire it), least likely to give away your position. They can consistently do 1 inch groupings at 100 yards. That's why

For everyone claiming zombies aren't real. Let me remind you that a zombie virus already exists. It's called Rabies. The only reason why rabies isn't an epidemic is because it takes days to become fully infected, and the victim usually dies pretty quickly afterwards. If rabies were to mutate, and infect within minutes, and not kill it's host at the end of the infection duration, we would have an actual zombie epidemic. It's also a law that you're required to cut off the head of any animal that is infected with rabies, which prevents them from biting someone via muscle spasms after death. Rabies is a zombie virus!
The zombie angle is just a bit of fun, but being prepared for the practically impossible will prepare you for lots of practical things. Take for instance a home invader who is high on bathsalts, completely gone from reason. Or a large scale natural disaster scenario. If civilization crumbles and you only have yourself to rely on, the tools they suggest in this video will help keep your family fed and protected.
I would take a de lisle carbine because of the silence. So that when a zombie suddenly notices you when you're sneaking in a zombie heavy town you don't attract a horde of other zombies when you fire off your 12 gauge shotgun. But I'm not an expert in any way I just think the de lisle is really cool.
Yes. The .22 Ruger Long Rifle with banana clip. Federal hollow points. Laser sight. At close range, the Deuce Deuce has surprisingly high velocity. The hollow point would punch through a zombie's skull easily and fragment widely.
There are so many "best survival guns", "best home defense guns", "best zombie apocalypse guns" videos. But I'm missing one video: Which modern handgun would I bring to a western duel like in the movie "The Quick and the Dead"? And what ammunition would I load it with?
Personally, I'd put the 590 up higher on the list. Maybe even at one. Reason being is that if you ever get caught in a SHTF scenario, fine motor skills and things like trigger discipline and breath control go out the window. Having a weapon that I can just point in the general direction and get results with a single trigger pull would be more useful. Even expert snipers go for the center mass hit over the headshot. Basically, because it's far easier to hit the target! For me, the 590 is no. 1!
Hey, what do you think about the Illudium PU-36 Explosive Space Modulator that the Martian in Bugs Bunny used? That way you would be covered in case of alien invasion, (considering you have the bullets that are manufactured for aliens only), and in case of the Zombie apocalypse (if you have the green tipped bullets)
1) They don't have larger magazines. On average, it's about 1/2 cap 2) They aren't necessarily more accurate. And if they are, it's a negligible amount if both shoot from 16" carbine 3) 22lr is a far dirtier round. I don't care which brand. It's not just the powder. It's rimfire, meaning it has an internal primer. It's rimmed, so it has prob feeding from mags. Gets moist easily. Exposed lead, small bore/chamber/reciever. More likely to ftf, light strike, misfeed, fte. Don't be your life on .22lr
The flash from one shot is massive, taking one shot at a zombie could give away your position to other survivors and zombies, and is also extremely loud. I would have a sniper, Pistol and maybe a SMG.
I don't agree with your selection. If the zombies are faster you have to be faster. If they are slow, your in worse luck. Slow zombies are fairly quiet and like to come out of nowhere. Any long gun or shotgun would be a hazard. If they grab the gun you are in trouble. For my top 5 it would be: 5. Kel-Tec KSG Shotgun. Gets number 5 because it's a shotgun, makes the list because it's lightweight and holds 15 rounds fully loaded. 4. AR-15. Easy to use and light weight depending on options. Lets you move and shoot when you can't simply run. Can use a scope to deal with long range threats. 3. Tavor SAR. Bullpup and lighter then an AK. 2. Glock 19. Stick a 50 round drum magazine into it and you have yourself a nice little powerhouse. 1. S&W M&P Series. Very good gun from personal experience. In a real zombie apocalypse you want to limit shooting at all costs. You will only shoot if you have been spotted and you need to cut a line to get out. Anything that is fast and can take down targets quickly will always serve you better.
I agree with .22 LR, .308, and 12 gauge! However I'm not too sure about .380 and AK74 for ammo availability. Might trade those out for a 5.56 flavor to mod and double as another .22 rifle - and instead of .380, a glock 19 (or 9mm pocket pistol if you prefer more concealment but I would opt for Glock compatibility) As far as a main sidearm goes I would probably equip a Glock .45 super with a myriad of additional barrels or a 10mm Auto with a myriad of barrels. I'd want something that can drop a grizzly bear or wild boar the size of a 93 civic hatchback. You don't wanna be walking around with a 9mm and an AK74 in that situation. I would just want to be a little more ready for ammo scrounging and boars myself! *remembers that time the boar came up to my Z71's door...*
I would get the M200 Intervention, not because it would be good for the zombie apocalypse just that I have been in love with it since I saw it on Future Weapons, although you could shoot through quite a few zombies with it.

my 870 is my go to gun. easy re reload and easy to shoot. I'm a shotgun guy

For an all purpose sidearm, I'd choose the FN 5.7 pistol with a KPOS kit. It's extremely accurate even out to 100m, it's much less noisy than 9mms or .45s, it has a giant magazine, it has low recoil, plus it looks nice and is light. Rounds are rare though.
For a long range role, I'd choose the Barrett M107. It's noisy, it's huge, but it can really shred some things apart. It also has the compensator-suppressor part built into the barrel. It's accurate even at 800 yards, and it's something you never want to get shot at by.
For an anti-personnel role, I'd choose the Beowulf .50. It has the same size as the AR-15 platform guns, but it fires a massive .50 round. The platform is also highly customizable too, so you can put whatever you like on it.
For a shotgun, I think the AA-12 is a good idea. It has as good reliability, if not better than the AK-47, but can also spew out 20 12 gauge shotgun shells at 300 rounds per minute. I think the cons of this weapon is that it's heavy and it consumes a lot of ammunition.
I wouldn't bother with a long ranged rifle like that. If whatever you're shooting at is far enough away to necessitate using such a rifle, you need to rethink your rules of engagement. I'd at least pick a lighter, more practical firearm for that category. All of your other choices are solid, except for maybe the Beowulf .50. The recoil is very tough to manage, so accuracy in a firefight, target re-acquisition and such will all be a problem.

GunFuMaster But reaching an elevated position, lock it down, and be able to maneuver and shoot with that rifle, (which weighs at least 30 pounds and costs about $9000) would be impractical. The Barret is good at what it's made for; engaging single or low quantity targets from miles away with ample time to set up the shot. You're not going to be taking those kinds of shots. Such a huge and heavy rifle can't even be accurately or practically shoulder fired, and shooting from any position other than prone will get very exhaustive, very fast. This isn't call of duty, you have to think of cost and weight of ammo, cost and weight and maneuverability of the rifle, etc. You're much better off getting a lighter caliber in a lighter rifle, so you can shoot it longer, hold more ammo, shoot quicker, etc. At that point, I'd much rather have an M1A; it has sniper-like accuracy in a heavy hitting but practical round in a semi-automatic platform in case things get too intense. They take box magazines, accept optics in the scout version and are much lighter and more maneuverable than a Barret .50 caliber sniper.
I won't quote you on that. .223 is considered to be a peashooter in regards to recoil; it's extremely light. Check this out:

These range guys are having trouble handling this recoil in a calm setting at the range. Good luck controlling that and getting any rounds on target with your adrenaline pumping and your life on the line.
You have to take into account how common and easy to find ammo is, it's one thing if you have the best possible gun, it's another if there's no ammo for it.

Excellent anti-Zed philosophy. A .22LR semi-auto is the perfect zombie apocalypse weapon: it's the least noisy, least recoil, lightest weight, can carry the most ammo, and has enough velocity to penetrate the skull while providing the least amount of spatter mess (thus risking further infection and providing a tool for precision work as well as close- to mid-range work.
At least that's what the zombie guru, Max Brooks, taught me. ;)

Guys you need to replace the ruger 10/22 with the M&P 15/22. Much more reliable easy load magazines and much easier to clean.

Apart from the entertainment value, just about all the (good) advice I've seen about surviving the Z-poch would be equally as useful in any conceivable apocalyptic or economic downfall. Everything from a massive natural disaster to an pandemic disease outbreak (that didn't produce zombies) to a violent political overhaul. Most of the advice (the good advice) relates to solid, widely applicable survival skills and use of firearms.

In a post apocalyptic scenario you cant go to the store and buy ammo. You are going to want to go with a mass produced round, in America .223 or 7.62 x 39 is your best bet. You have to think about all the people that stockpile ammunition and wont make it.

I'm in California. Zombies have rights out here I can't violate. Governor Brown passed a law saying I have to let them bite me and my family. I also have to teach my kids to be sensitive to zombies and their zombie culture. Also, if I get bit by a zombie with mercury fillings I have to pay a hazardous material fee to the state, because I will become a toxic zombie with the added mercury in my system.

.22LR rounds have enough power to penetrate a human body, but not leave. It will literally bounce around inside the body until it loses all velocity. I friend of mine ,who's a local police officer, said that one of the scariest things to be shot at as a police officer is a .22. They can absolutely devastate internal organs. Hope this helped.

an SKS would be great due to it's bolt hold open, stripper clips, and bayonet. If you like the SKS for the bolt hold open, but want an AK for the capacity, i'd recommend the Vz. 58. It can even accept modified AK mags and drums (with no bolt hold open though.)
I'd choose the Vz because it's the best of both.

I have a brick of 350 9mm ammo and a brick of 375 .22 LR ammo. The 9mm weighs 5 or 6 times as much. .22 is relatively easy to find, quiet, accurate, has no recoil (a 4 year old or a 104 year old could fire it), least likely to give away your position. They can consistently do 1 inch groupings at 100 yards. That's why

For everyone claiming zombies aren't real. Let me remind you that a zombie virus already exists. It's called Rabies. The only reason why rabies isn't an epidemic is because it takes days to become fully infected, and the victim usually dies pretty quickly afterwards. If rabies were to mutate, and infect within minutes, and not kill it's host at the end of the infection duration, we would have an actual zombie epidemic.
It's also a law that you're required to cut off the head of any animal that is infected with rabies, which prevents them from biting someone via muscle spasms after death. Rabies is a zombie virus!
The zombie angle is just a bit of fun, but being prepared for the practically impossible will prepare you for lots of practical things. Take for instance a home invader who is high on bathsalts, completely gone from reason.
Or a large scale natural disaster scenario. If civilization crumbles and you only have yourself to rely on, the tools they suggest in this video will help keep your family fed and protected.

I would take a de lisle carbine because of the silence. So that when a zombie suddenly notices you when you're sneaking in a zombie heavy town you don't attract a horde of other zombies when you fire off your 12 gauge shotgun. But I'm not an expert in any way I just think the de lisle is really cool.

Yes. The .22 Ruger Long Rifle with banana clip. Federal hollow points. Laser sight. At close range, the Deuce Deuce has surprisingly high velocity. The hollow point would punch through a zombie's skull easily and fragment widely.
There are so many "best survival guns", "best home defense guns", "best zombie apocalypse guns" videos. But I'm missing one video: Which modern handgun would I bring to a western duel like in the movie "The Quick and the Dead"? And what ammunition would I load it with?

Personally, I'd put the 590 up higher on the list. Maybe even at one. Reason being is that if you ever get caught in a SHTF scenario, fine motor skills and things like trigger discipline and breath control go out the window. Having a weapon that I can just point in the general direction and get results with a single trigger pull would be more useful. Even expert snipers go for the center mass hit over the headshot. Basically, because it's far easier to hit the target! For me, the 590 is no. 1!

I think against zombies a MP 5 with or without surpressor would be a good choice, because the 9mm ammo is very common and it is a small and light gun.
My personal list would be this

Hey, what do you think about the Illudium PU-36 Explosive Space Modulator that the Martian in Bugs Bunny used? That way you would be covered in case of alien invasion, (considering you have the bullets that are manufactured for aliens only), and in case of the Zombie apocalypse (if you have the green tipped bullets)
1) They don't have larger magazines. On average, it's about 1/2 cap
2) They aren't necessarily more accurate. And if they are, it's a negligible amount if both shoot from 16" carbine
3) 22lr is a far dirtier round. I don't care which brand. It's not just the powder. It's rimfire, meaning it has an internal primer. It's rimmed, so it has prob feeding from mags. Gets moist easily. Exposed lead, small bore/chamber/reciever. More likely to ftf, light strike, misfeed, fte. Don't be your life on .22lr
The flash from one shot is massive, taking one shot at a zombie could give away your position to other survivors and zombies, and is also extremely loud.
I would have a sniper, Pistol and maybe a SMG.

I don't agree with your selection. If the zombies are faster you have to be faster. If they are slow, your in worse luck. Slow zombies are fairly quiet and like to come out of nowhere. Any long gun or shotgun would be a hazard. If they grab the gun you are in trouble.
For my top 5 it would be:
5. Kel-Tec KSG Shotgun. Gets number 5 because it's a shotgun, makes the list because it's lightweight and holds 15 rounds fully loaded.
4. AR-15. Easy to use and light weight depending on options. Lets you move and shoot when you can't simply run. Can use a scope to deal with long range threats.
3. Tavor SAR. Bullpup and lighter then an AK.
2. Glock 19. Stick a 50 round drum magazine into it and you have yourself a nice little powerhouse.
1. S&W M&P Series. Very good gun from personal experience.
In a real zombie apocalypse you want to limit shooting at all costs. You will only shoot if you have been spotted and you need to cut a line to get out. Anything that is fast and can take down targets quickly will always serve you better.
I agree with .22 LR, .308, and 12 gauge! However I'm not too sure about .380 and AK74 for ammo availability. Might trade those out for a 5.56 flavor to mod and double as another .22 rifle - and instead of .380, a glock 19 (or 9mm pocket pistol if you prefer more concealment but I would opt for Glock compatibility)
As far as a main sidearm goes I would probably equip a Glock .45 super with a myriad of additional barrels or a 10mm Auto with a myriad of barrels. I'd want something that can drop a grizzly bear or wild boar the size of a 93 civic hatchback. You don't wanna be walking around with a 9mm and an AK74 in that situation.
I would just want to be a little more ready for ammo scrounging and boars myself!

I would get the M200 Intervention, not because it would be good for the zombie apocalypse just that I have been in love with it since I saw it on Future Weapons, although you could shoot through quite a few zombies with it.
