    OK now I would love to see a tutorial on the 3D animation part at the beginning. Blender? Great video!

    That's a beautiful table, Brian. Based on how it was behaving during your intro, you needed to allow for a lot of movement (lol). Stay safe.

    Beautiful build. Been awhile. A small suggestion, please if I may without sounding rude. Perhaps a new beautiful finish on your outfield table... it distracts from the awesomenessness of the furniture build.

    Thank you for thoroughly enjoyable and very informative video, and a really nice table design :D I have a few questions about your jointer. I am transitioning from a combined tabletop style planer/thiknesser which is of very low quality, but usable after lots and lots of modifications. So, I have been looking at my options. And due to the size of the entrance to my workshop - I have to go with two machines, not a combined machine.
    I see that your jointer has dovetailed ways. I have heard that they can start sagging after a while, and loose their alignment. How long have you used that jointer, and have you had any issues with it with regards to sagging or the tables not being coplanar? Is it a 6 inch machine? And if so - do you feel that it restricts you in any way?
    Cheers.

      Before I get to your question, let me clear up the nomenclature. You want your jointer tables (in/out) to be parallel, not coplanar. Coplanarity refers to two planes that are in the same plane. A jointer with tables in the same plane will never cut wood. You want your tables to remain parallel. One plane (outfeed) slightly lower than the other plane ( infeed) but always parallel to each other. I’ve not noticed them sag in the 15 years or so that I’ve owned it, but it did require adjusting to make parallel. I shimmed the outfeed table with strips of aluminum from a soda can by lifting the outfeed table slightly and sliding the aluminum underneath the dovetail. After this is done, only make your adjustments for cut depth from the infeed side - don’t adjust the outfeed table any more. I’m going to paste in my next reply a link on how to properly and accurately align for parallel using a dial indicator. I highly encourage you to watch.

      @@GarageWoodworks Thanks for an in-depth reply :D Is that an 8" or 6" machine by the way?

    • @GarageWoodworks
      @GarageWoodworks  3 роки тому +1

      That’s a 6”. The adjustment I made to align it parallel wasn’t done until I realized that it was out of parallel using a DI. It wasn’t off by much and could have been that way since day 1; no sagging, just poor quality. My newer jointer is a 8” Grizzly that uses parallelogram beds.

      @@GarageWoodworks Oh. So you have one with paralellogram beds now? I can't fit one of thouse through the door/stairs to my basement workshop. With that is mind, would you suggest an older type, the 6" you had? Or are the dovetailed ways too much hassle? I guess I am just a blt apprehensive after hearing a lot of bad comments about the dovetail beds, but I don't really have much of a choice...
