  • When Jacqueline West received the phone call that Martin Scorsese wanted to work with her, she knew she couldn't pass it up. 'Killers of the Flower Moon' costume designer Jacqueline West and lead Osage wardrobe consultant Julie O'Keefe talk about how they crafted the looks for the film that play a major part in helping to tell the story. As providing authenticity and representation through the wardrobe was extremely important to West and O'Keefe, they explain the process of collaborating with Pendleton to collect the perfect pieces, incorporating traditional folding styles of Osage blankets and more.

I was so intrigued by the military jacket being part of the wedding attire, glad I could finally get an explanation.

The Osage clothing, especially that worn by the women in this time, is so beautiful. It's a very simple silhouette, but the colors and ornamentation make it very special. I was also really impressed that Pendleton had the actual loom instructions for the blankets they made so long ago. I don't know if they were able to use the same type of dyes, but the blankets are just lovely.

The 19th century military style wedding dress really caught my eye and it was a delight to hear the story behind it.

Intriguing and beautiful history of each element of clothing and accessories - many thanks for sharing how authentic the design and creation of the wardrobe was for this film - extremely respectful and genuine.

All these explanations into the details were fascinating. I had especially wondered about that military style outfit. I never knew much about their culture before

Those beautiful fringed pendleton blankets get a ton of screentime in the movie, doesnt look like they're selling the same ones online, which is a shame cuz i bet people (possibly me) would buy em. The ones they have now all have much busier/less traditional patterns ☹️

They might only sell them to the Native People because it's special to them. They don't really need to make them available to everyone. We already have enough of other peoples cultures.

The other available blankets are totally worth it though. Pendleton makes the most wonderful wool blankets. I use to live there and I treasure the two that I have now that I live in another state.

Pendleton isn't tribal affiliated, and none of the people who own it are indigenous whatsoever, so why would they sell indigenous patterns made specifically at a tribe's request for a biopic about a massacre online for anyone?

Wonderful explanations and short. I'm curious about the fiber content of the fringe of the worn blankets specifically, as it's giving acrylic blend on screen. Do we know what the actual fiber content of the fringe is?

how come molly is wearing the attire usually worn for an arranged marriage? also, would have liked more details about other characters, too. for instance, what about the silver cross and other attire details worn by the priest who married them? possibly a result of cultures blending, but there’s more to tell about it, i’m sure.

so lk off topic.. but I had entered a indigenous scholarship to intern for Jackie at FIDM in LA back in like ‘14.. sadly, I didn’t get it, little birdies told me I was 2nd banana tho.. 😅
but regardless it’s interesting & cool that she’s still handling Indigenous styling for films & media..
wonder if there were indigenous interns taken under her wing??
