This is the best harmonious voice you'll ever listen to
The Beatles were big fans and influenced by them. They even called them the Foreverly brothers
This song is from 1958. 😎😎😎. The Everly Brothers are considered by many to be the greatest duet in Rock N Roll history.
Woop woop!! The Everly Brothers were the best harmonizer's in history. The songs are endless.
Leslie Gore "You don't own me"
I wish I could listen to The Everly Brothers and The Righteous Brothers songs for the first time, over and over again, for ever and a day.❤
The Everly Brothers were, and still are, the gold standard of duets. There simply has never been a duo like them. They had an endless string of hits in the late 50s and early 60s, and every one was a great song and a big hit.
The Everly Brothers are the best harmony duo in Rock 'n' Roll history!
Little Richard met the Beatles before they became famous. His reaction to them was "It's the Everly Brothers plus two."
Halarious
lol
please don't insult the Everly Brothers thanks
@@alansabin7487 Maybe you are the one who feels insulted.
@@timcarr6401 you are correct, i don't think they are with use
anymore so i feel insulted for them. thanks for the idea
take care
This is from a time of NO autotune or dubbing, when music was real, from raw talent, and lyrics you could hear & understand clearly. You made it big on your talent alone ! Come back 50's & 60's !!!!
Close relatives have unique harmonies that are incredibly special.Thier voices are chill bump inducing.
Classic song. Beautiful and definitely a romantic song. My wife loves this song.
The Beatles said that one of the bands that heavily influenced them were the Everly Brothers... and you can tell. The Everly Brothers are regarded as one of the best duos of all time. They were incredibly in tune with each other and sounded fantastic. Btw, it's pronounced Ever-ly. I love this era too. There's an innocence, gentleness, and purity to alot of it. Today's music sounds extremely aggressive, angry, and showy by comparison.
I even think that at one point the Beatles in a very early days when they were just starting out individually maybe John had a group and they call them selves new Everly Brothers?
@@ls-kk4pq In a version of "Two of Us", you can hear one of them say "Take it Phil" during the recording. It's a hard to find version but was on one of the Anthologies.
I do not think you can fault their music 50s 60s ,what ever they done , I absolutely adored them ,just to have them times again to feel those feelings wow .
This is what music sounds like when the melody can be heard and the "singer" doesn't screech at the audience. LOVE it still, to this day.
These guys were the first induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Beatles worshipped these guys.
paul mccartney actually said the Beatles got a lot of inspiration from the Everly brothers
I could see that, now
You big dummy. Why did you add the word actually. It makes you seem like an idiot who can not speak or write in English.
Paul referenced Phil and Don (and me, sister Susie) Martin Luther ... Someone's Knocking at the Door ...
61 years down the line and we're still enjoying their music... who would of thought that? Absolute legends (just like you Jay) 🇬🇧😀
So glad someone young loves our music. They may have been short songs but were the best.
As as child when I couldn't sleep or had a nightmare, my mother would sing Dream, and Paul Anka's "Put your head on my shoulder." while rocking me in the rocking chair in my room. I will always have an affinity for their music as it is woven into the fabric of my childhood.
These harmonies are so smooth. I watched them on TV as a little kid. I loved them.
It's pronounced with a soft e, like in the word "ever". This is actually 50s, then into the 60s. Don (the one on camera right) and Phil Everly were the sons of Ike Everly, who was a popular country singer/guitarist and radio personality in the 1940s, and the boys began singing professionally on Ike's show when they were pre-teens, and had been cultivating their harmonies since they were very little. These guys are examples of early rock royalty...HUGE stars in their day. Although they had several falling-outs over the years, they would always get back together and continued performing together until Phil passed away in 2014. There are plenty of examples of their studio work right here on UA-cam. Just do a search and listen, because their harmonies are amazing. I would place the Everlys, The Righteous Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel and Jan & Dean on the top of the mountain for rock duos. And it's interesting you mentioned the Beach Boys, because Brian Wilson does consider the Everlys to be one of his musical influences, as does Barry Gibb.
Awesome bio. I heard this a lot when I was like in the 70's my family has personal feelings as married into our family. Very musical family . We keep the music going through generations.
You Sir, are learned and wise. Thanks for presenting the history aspect so sublimely.
I don't think I'd call them a rock duo, but everything else you said is spot on.
Barry Gibbs had tears in his eyes when he mentioned them in an interview.
All I Have to do is Dream is genuinely in my top 10 songs of all time. It’s utterly beautiful!
I grew up listening to these guys, Our first dance when we got married was I Bless the Day I found You by the Brothers,
Don and Phil ,such beautiful harmonies , just beautiful .
Dang! What an absolutely fantastic live performance. They really nailed a studio-grade recording here.
They had a sound all of their own . I’m 72 now and they still wow me . We had just GREAT !! Music in my youth I was SO lucky .
On this TV-performance in the UK they were backed by the Crickets, shortly after they lost there lead singer Buddy Holly. They are legends in there own rights.
You need to do the Everly brothers song Wake Up Little Susie
Whatcha gone tell yer mama? Watcha gone tell yer pop?
When I was.a kid my nextdoor neighbor would sing that to me.
Very racy for those days.
@@kevinstewart449 Yeah it was... "What are we gonna tell our friends
when they say, "Ooh la la!"
Love Hurts....amazing
Another thing that makes that performance particularly emotional is that Buddy Holly passed away the previous year in 1959 and their backing band is Buddy's band " The Crickets " with Joe B. Mauldin on bass, Jerry Ivan Allison on drums and Sonny Curtis on Lead Guitar.
I can finally state "this is before my time" LOL. That brother or sibling harmony can't be beat.
Hahaha yeah for real. Before mine too. But grew up on it.
Late 1950's and early '60's was my coming of age period - a calm before the storm (just before the British invasion, the civil rights protests, the Vietnam war, the hippie generation and anti-war movement turned the world upside down). 2020 is beginning to get that feel - but without all the great music that also exploded back then.

Great great talent. The Beatles have the Everly's to thank for their influence on great harmonies. RIP Phil Everly.
Ulitmate in harmony with their voices. Can you imagine what they would have sounded like with the recording equipement we have today. We would loose some of the scratchy appeal but it would still be wonderful.
It was a matter of pride, art, even craftsmanship to form a sound that was yours and no one else's. That's why iconic groups are recognizable almost immediately. There was no autotune, you didnt have to be hot or sexy, no algorithms calculating the next hit, just talent and love of music.
Siblings can blend their voices in a way that unrelated people rarely achieve. The similar timbre and quality is just fabulous.
The Crown Princes of Rock-A-Billy they are fantastic! Such great harmonies can only come from brothers. 😎✌️👍
The Everly Brothers were actually Brothers.
Unlike the Righteous Brothers they just used that name. Phil and Don Everly were amazing. Thanks to my parents I got to see them preform live in Las Vegas, I also got to see The Righteous Brothers preform in Las Vegas. Of course both groups were way older when I got to see them but they were still amazing. I was blessed to see so many ppl live because of my parents and I was blessed that they made it happen. RIP to my wonderful father who would get me tickets so often. RIP to the wonderful artists that you and others are reacting to that have since past away.
I was born in 1972 so some of these groups were b4 my time too but as I said I was very blessed thanks to my parents. Covid has been a very hard time for me because of the health problems I have. So I can't leave the house. So thank you and the other wonderful ppl out there reacting to music and making our days a little brighter.
On a side note since I grew up in the 80's Don Everly of the Everly Brothers it was his daughter that the song : Sweet Child Of Mine
By Guns and Roses was written about. Axel Rose was dating Don Everly's daughter at the time !
Great trivia!!
The greatest duet harmonies, ever.
Their voices flow so smoothly and effortlessly. Very calming and soothing.
Awesome, I grew up with the Everly Brothers. They knew how to harmonize a song. Thank you for reacting to them
This was actually the 50’s but right before the new decade. Patsy was more 50’s too. 50’s are overlooked and underrated. Especially harmonies
also from the 50's The Platters,Etta James, Jackie Wilson,Ray Charles, and one of my favorites, more of a fun group than vocally great is The Coasters
All I have To Do Is Dream was 1958, Cathy's Clown was 1960.
Wrong on the time frame. Early 1960s. Patsy Cline Crazy 1962.
100%, man! Some outstanding high-level vocal talent from that era, too.
Erik McLain Cathys Clown was 1960
Cathy’s Clown was one of my favorite songs growing up in the 80’s. I listened to all of my dads old and brand new records. Still love it to this day at 37 years old. The 50s music is being lost.
'83 baby here... I grew up with a dad who was a bit older, and I always loved his old records. I love this channel.
Everything you stated about the music of the 60's is absolutely true...UNPARALLELED by the music of today...Pure talent and beautiful. Happy you are enjoying it...
The soothing voice and songs of The Everly Brothers
❤ them. They were the best at what they did. Such great harmony. My favorite was Phil (on the right) with the higher pitched voice. May he RIParadise. Thanks for posting. Try listening to their songs, "Let It Be Me", "Bird Dog" and "Crying In The Rain" I think you will enjoy them.
With Don Everly's recent passing at the age of 84, both Everly Brother's have now passed on. But they sure left us some great music. Thanks for helping keep that great music alive and introducing it to new audiences.
"Those rock and roll choirboys". (Joni Mitchell).
Grew up with this type of music, this is so cool making me take a trip down memory lane. How is it, you can remember every word to a song from 60 yrs ago. But i cant remember what i had for lunch yesterday lol
LOL! Same here my friend!
My Dad was born in 1938 so I grew up listening to this music in the 80's, one of my faves is take a message to Mary
I remember hearing the Everly Brothers on the radio when I was in grade school. I always liked their music. I'm so glad you enjoy their music, too. Thanks for your great reaction.
"Let it be me" is my favourite Don & Phil. Its like a prayer.
Miss, don't forget When will I be Loved, Till I Kissed You and Bird Dog.im almost certain Phil wrote When will I be Loved. Linda Ronstadt did a great cover of that
I couldn’t agree more. Let it be Me brings tears to my eyes every time.
My fav song of theirs!!!
Everly Brothers harmonies like the Bee Gees! Awesome! TY!
Remember the McCartney song "Let Em In" when he sang that he would "let Phil and Don in"....well, here they are!
Wow! Thxs for that information, never knew that. I'm a music historian, much appreciated
Please do their song "Let It Be Me." Thanks so much!
"Crying In The Rain" is another great one. Also "Walk Right Back" is amazing.
Sam & Dave do a fantastic version of that song too!
Just so beautiful
My dad’s favorite group, I grew up listening to these amazing brothers. ❤️
Wake Up, Little Suzy is a great one from them too!
Yes and Bye Bye Love
Yes it is!
You can tell these are brother's who strarted harmonizing together at a very early age, just incredible.
Thank you for reacting to the oldies! My dad passed at the young age of 58 almost 14 years ago and these songs bring back happy memories he loved the oldies but goodies❤
Soothing harmonies... Always near perfect.
They are brilliant their harmonies are unmatched
A little bit of rock history. The backing band was Buddy Holly's Crickets. ( Buddy died in 59.) Also, Don Everly on the right of the screen is the father of Erin Evelry, Axl Rose's ex-wife and the inspiration for Sweet Child O' Mine ( she was in the video) and Estranged.
It sounds like they are using special echo machines or some sort of gadget to make their voices sound better but the fact that this is their actual voices is amazing, love this
They actually say that with the way they sing together it actually sounds like 3 people singing. Very good friends with Buddy Holly and after he died the crickets played backing music for them.
The music from the period has a very high, positive emotional tone.
This was a great one! Please react to Sam Cooke's You Send Me. Sam was a black crooner in the 50/60's. Considered to be a pioneer and one of the most influential soul artists of all time, Cooke is commonly referred to as the "King of Soul" for his distinctive vocals, notable contributions to the genre, and high significance in popular music.
Cooke released a string of hit songs, including "You Send Me", "A Change Is Gonna Come", "Cupid", "Wonderful World", "Chain Gang", "Twistin' the Night Away", "Bring It On Home to Me", and "Good Times". During his eight-year career, Cooke released 29 singles that charted in the Top 40 of the Billboard Pop Singles chart, as well as 20 singles in the Top Ten of Billboard's Black Singles chart.
Best Harmony period. They were big at the time.
I could probably recommend 30 more great songs by the Everly Brothers. They made so much gold.
I love your face expressions
Apparently harmonies can be especially harmonious (!) when the singers are related. Thanks for a great video.
CarolynJane Sutton it’s called ‘Blood Harmony’ 😊
Love your reactions to the 60's ❣✌🇦🇺
Greatest harmonies of all time.
My friend and I used to sing these songs in my bedroom after school and our voices naturally did the harmonies, great times, full skirts with lots of stiff net petticoats and wide elastic belts to make a tiny waist, girls looked so pretty back then!
Their singing is so beautiful. I appreciate your reaction!
The brothers sound so good together. I just wish they could’ve gotten along better.
I had the same reaction to the very first notes sung on Cathy’s Clown. I literally got goose bumps first time I heard that amazing harmony.
These songs mean so much to me. My aunt married Don and Phil's first cousin. And my mamaw would join their dates back in the days before she married my papaw. We are all from the same hometown where everybody knows everybody and everybody loves the Everly Brothers. Hello from KY where another fameous musician/songwriter/singer is from. His name is Mr John Prime (RIP). He recently passed from covid. He calls our lil town "paradise". ( Touching song recently played at my papaw's funeral. He was 87 . He retired from Peabody Coal Company.) It's a great song that tell the story of beautiful rolling hills and the coal mines.
Show many groups after the Everly Brothers copy their sound copy their harmonies including the Beatles. Unbelievable duo and unmatched in harmonies! Thanks for this reaction!
Ever ly Brothers. Among the best duet vocals in history!
I saw a bit later that you doubled up with Kathy’s Clown, 🙏🏼
The Everly Brothers Grew-up in downtown Waterloo Iowa they graduated from East High School My father learned to play the guitar because of them their mother even watched my father a few times I think it's awesome that you did a reaction to them!!!
Early 60's music has an innocence that completely goes off the rails in the latter part of the decade.
There's something about the Everly brothers harmonies that, to me, sounds like there's more than two of them
I love how you always like the music I was raised with
Their voices are so beautiful, I nearly cry every time I hear them 😭😊
The Bee Gees also said that they had a lot of inspiration from the Everly Brothers
I saw them in concert in 1992 in Miami. The hall was packed & people were dancing in the aisles!
It’s so nice to see how much you injoy this music. I really believe the music in those days are more worth listening too. So beautiful n fun !
"All I Have to Do is Dream" is a beautiful song by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant. Don Everly, on the right, wrote "Cathy's Clown." Phil Everly wrote "When Will I Be Loved." So many great songs! Thanks for the review.
Loved the Everly Brothers for a long time...awesome!
Absolutely loved Let it be me. Their voices were so sweet
The Everly Brothers were the best , they still are and they will always be the best. Flat out nothing else needs to be said.
They sing in 5ths and 3rds..Great harmonies......
This era had the most romantic songs. The Everlies, being brothers, have practically the same voices. Add that to the fact that they start and end their lines at exactly the same instant and they sound like one voice. Every song they sang was beautiful. Listen to Let It Be Me.
Raw talent, no auto tuning here.
Soft voices,just like silk.😊
Great reaction😊
Omgosh this brings back memories of my dad playing guitar while my older sisters sang All I Have to Do Is Dream! They sang this song so much I prefer their harmonies to the Everly Brothers. They did many songs too like Catheys Clown but Dream was their favorite & they did an excellent job with it. I so miss those days.
Anyone who goes back and checks these Comments should look for the brothers interviews. Get hours of back stories, from their father and mother and well as their roots. They were in the first group inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The first group to use drums on the Grand Ole Opry.
The Everly Brothers - LET IT BE ME. Must be on your bucket list.
I would LOVE to see you react to two songs by a 50's singer named "Little" Jimmie Rodgers." The songs are called "Honeycomb" and "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine." Maybe you could do a back-to-back with those as you did with these. Hope you see this comment and thank you!
Sooo. Javon .Really fun listening to those two songs by those two guys. Memories..1960 jr.. high dances. SWEET
Sends me right back to 1958. Best time in my life.
