thanks for your videos Tom your the only one i see use a tap correctly , most just run it in and never back it off a couple times to clear the chips good job brother i always get something out of your videos thanks again and God bless
I figured out the trick to changing the oil on these without making a mess. I took a quart oil bottle, then cut the spout and bottom off of it. I cut it straight up the middle and use the deeper half as a funnel. It is flexible enough to fit in that space, and it is just long enough to reach past the frame. I can change it without spilling a drop now.
There are many things that I enjoy about your videos but my favorite is that you do your videos in real time and don't speed up and play ridiculous music. You explain what you're doing and you GIT-R-DUN right and actually repair with minimal replacement unless needed. If I live close I would definitely be a customer.
I always pull the tank on this setup if I have to remove the cover. A common problem I have found with them is the gas cap. The inner parts of it disintegrate and collect at the bottom of the tank. I have seen them get blocked off, and I find a piece or two in every one of these MTD mowers that I have worked on. I clean them out just to make sure there is nothing in the bottom of the tank. There were some pieces in this one. I saw them in the pan.
I don't mess with taking the deck off to change blades. I run the back wheels on a set of wheel ramps and put the front end on jack stands. I hate taking the decks off on MTDs. That spring is a pain.
I've got a Pony similar to yours. Had to replace the entire engine - the only problem is that the new engine has a voltage regulator with a single red coming out a yellow is going in and a black ground is attached to the regulator. Wired it with the red from the connector to the red and a ground to the regulator lug. Fires up no problem and I get about 14.5 at the battery terminal so it seems to be charging. Now I have no headlights - they worked before. Any suggestions?
With this machine being gravity fed, that huge element fuel filter might have been a little too much for it, since these are supposed to have a screen.
Definitely easier to get at other components especially pto I have the same mower and I am afraid that’s my problem, I have to turn off mowers to shift and restart
They couldn't have had this mower in a shop. There is no way a professional would leave it like that, or at least I would hope that they wouldn't. I consider myself semi-pro, and I wouldn't leave one like that.
Good job Tom and glad you cleaned that booger up. 👍🙂

Really enjoy watching your videos, where did you get the fuel line remover wrench and what is the real name of the wrench?
@@andydaffron5001 it was a gift, it's a car door panel removal tool
Really it makes a great fuel line removal tool!!, we could repackage it and call it a fuel line removal tool and make a fortune 😅😅
Those packages are child proof, Tom. That's why you were having a problem.
I get pissed trying to open some of them in the heavyweight plastic and the items are paper thin plastic 😢
This was starting to turn into a Tim Allen build! Seriously, he's never going to finish the Vik!! His Grandkids will retire first.
i have the same mower mine is a bronco i dont now the deference between the two mine is a 2020
Do you know the difference between the pony and bronco the same I have the bronco
I hope you charged him a fortune just to clean it😅
Me too, can’t stand people who don’t take care of their equipment 😢
Another resurrection

That might be the dirtiest lawn tractor I have ever seen.
Go wash it
Should have washed it first
