Best iteration of gunlance the series has ever seen
Most of the weapons never have been so powerful actually. Movement, agility, power, they got it all in Rise, even my chunky GS is (relatively) fast. Amazing.
Would be better tho if they didn't nerf the Goddamn Shelling damage AGAIN. WHY DID THEY CUT 20% OF THE DAMAGE JUST TO GIVE IT AS A BUFF LATER?
So it feels like a new game lol, the amount lf shelling lvl 5 lances is super low too which is frustrating
@@antonstiensen3020 Nope, not dual blades, they just traded the beyblade honrizontal movement for demonic idk what verticality.
They don't feel as good to play now that the beyblade move sucks so much imo.

Never expected a canta gunlance speedrun so early into the game. Nice.
Amongst all the things they put into this game, giving us a fluid gunlance was my favorite thing.
That guardpoint is a huge deal

Everything about gunlance is so great and everything synergize with everything else, Insta-Block, Ground Splitter, Blast Dash, they all make the gunlance so great
I just hope gunlance doesn't suffer the same thing as in XX where shell power drastically diminishes in G-rank

Just wanted to say- I REALLY appreciated that you put this run up, because speedrun videos with any Wide gunlances are impossible to find and it was really valuable to see some footage. Even though Wide underperforms compared to Normal and Long, it's fun and I really wanted to see someone who knew what they were doing with it.

I use the burst fire combo loops but yeah... definitely need to learn
this is with wide shelling, with the other shelling types you play differently.
What I love about this dude or dudette is no fake hype voice over bs, no click bait thumbnail all in caps, no nonsense just what it says in the title. Never change you legend
Ahh the elegant wide GL. The gentleman's weapon. I run the corn popper since it has wide 5. Simple combos yet devastating.
Wait, you can lodge a wyrmstake blast in Rise? How do you load it? Every time I fire a wyrmstake it just ticks and then explodes on its own ;-;
Edit: I'm dumb, I just went ahead and tried this with a wide gunlance and got the same behavior I saw in your video, I thought it exploded when you shot it like in World when you use slinger ammo to load the gunlance, but instead it just explodes once on its own.
How come sometimes you don't have to reload wyrmstake? Does spare shot work on that or something?
He’s using a Switch Skill called ‘Guard Reload’ which replaces the Quick Reload. It reloads both shells and the Wyrmstake Cannon. :)
@@chefdant That loadout has quick reload. He's reloading the wyrmstake with a normal full reload.

So I just started playing gunlance and I am absolutely loving it but every post I’ve seen from past MH games all say gl don’t synergize well with status effects, is this no longer the case?
Well they didn't choose the gear it's a preset arena loadout. I used plenty of status GL sets in World. Not for long GL though because it was pure shelling and shells don't deal status damage, only your melee attacks
Finally after all those years, it took 5 mh generation but we reached it, shelling IS the way to use gunlance now
Thats debatable. This is arena. Shelling is always better in arena/demos. While I still love the weapon and playstyles shelling still has some pretty big flaws. Caoslayer does a lot of really good videos on shelling and it's pros and cons. Also ground splitter is a lie. It's just heat guage 2.0.
Nope if G rank drops shelling might not scale again😞 But SlapGLancing is more fluid now so thats cool but i hope they do something about the shelling
Is that wide GL? You aren't charging shots at all? Just pokey shoot?
Wide Shell is more better to fire single shot since World while Long is the charging one.
Pokey Shelling is the most efficient way to use Wide Shelling.

I like playing with Charge Blade and Sticky LBG, Gunlance looks like somehow combination of both. Maybe I should try it in Rise

Wow I didn’t know the pukie GL got a unique redesign, it looks great! I noticed tobi got a couple too, hopefully one day all of the slap on designs will be cycled out
the weapon designs are massively improved this time, even the ore and bone tree weapon models change twice before the end of the tree. I really cant recall a slap on design as you say off top. I'm pleased , we got a lot of good 'joke' weapons too, the origami switchaxe and the paintbrush for example
@@boglin The only slap on designs come from returning World monsters. I'm not sure how they decide which ones to make unique and which ones to make ugly, but even within those designs they try their best to keep them unique. I have yet to see a slap on design that shares its base model with another slap on design (for example: the Kulu-Ya-Ku and Pukei-Pukei Insect Glaives are both metal with monster parts slapped on, but the ore IG underneath looks different.)
@@boglin yea the only one I was disappointed to see is the barioth hammer, I haven’t finished upgrading it tho so maybe the design changes further down the tree

This is how I beat lucent narg. As a lance main I swapped to gunlance for the shelling dmg.

@@unofficial_gamer6813 I mean MHP3rd was based of MH3, which had MH3U with G-rank. I really doubt that we won't get a big dlc expansion to this or a new version of the game with G-rank/Master rank.
@@unofficial_gamer6813 considering the success it had I think rise will have a g/master rank, they cant just leave the game off and immedietely announce like mhworld2 or mh6 within a very short gap after iceborne. . and also mhportable 3 was a japanese only game, so capcom release 3U to the west rise was released worldwide at the same time so I doubt they'll do what they did with mhp3rd
If it is as good as Iceborne i will buy it in a blink of an eye.

No need to show it because it's a default armor in the arena quests. if you want to unlock the quest hunt barioth in high rank but not capture.

They really need to bring back Special Arena or just add every monster to the normal arena in Rise.

@@alderwield9636 yeah I like the brrrt too. Long type will probably rule in rise due to the extra tick from the wyvern fire. Wide is fun for slugger skill tho. We'll see in late late game. Happy blasting!
