First time learning to water ski was over 50 years ago but watching MP master the board brought back all those memories as if it were yesterday. Lots of dragging me half underwater, but not on purpose. We only had one ski to learn on... it was very humbling. The thrill when you finally "get it" is not something you soon forget, in any endeavor. Enjoy every anchorage as if it were your last visit there. Life is a series of anchorages we never revisit, only remember... make them all unforgettably fun!
Go MP!!! You did more than just get up, you rode that ski and the longer you practice, the further youll ride it. Enjoy your new found sport. Youre about to be addicted!!!
With the visual gauge you might want to connect the top of the hose back into the top of the tanks it will help keep the diesel fumes down and the possibility of fuel coming out in rough weather.
So glad to see you just having fun and learning something new 🏄♀🪂, so well deserved after all the hard work you did building Yabá Hope you get the mast fixed soon and lets get sailing. ⛵💙
You guys never fail to "entertain". But this is what makes you money to carry on. So, I will say, it is MP that makes me keep coming back! ...... I have 4 sisters, all powerhouses, all like your woman. You are lucky my brother Ben to have her. Your journeys and new experiences are so much joy to the people that have lived without this. We thank you! ( no shit dude)
Just a thought looking at the rain, and it seems to rain a lot in certain parts of Brazil. After a good rain, your exposed wood surfaces are soaked in fresh water, and you know what that did to the boat, so immediately after a rain, "pickle" your wood surfaces with seawater, either using a pump or by throwing buckets of seawater on the decks, cabin tops, rails, swim platform, etc..
got to keep fit now you are on the water and Yabá isnt burning as many calories while you fixed her. Great update and fantastic to hear you have so much work on dryland in progress. 2x👍
Ben, you should fab up a nice big shelf that slides over the rail and can be moved anywhere on the rail so you can put your grill on it plus have room to prep food/keep utensils when grilling. Could be used for cleaning fish too!
I fell upon Yaba's page yrs. ago. I've been locked in from that moment on. Thanks, Ben & Mp for restoring Yaba & starting lot's of great shared videos.
You guys are my absolute favorite channel. Love u and the dogs. I like that u adopted them and gave them a good and exciting life. Be safe. And if you ever get to Tampa Florida I would love to go for a sail or even just meet all of u. Thank you for the videos
Suggest you get a master rigger to fine tune your rigging with proper block pulleys, etc. Shouldn't have to struggle to raise and trim sales. Also, get rid of any superfluous items. You should have fire extinguishers, especially in engine room being able to deploy them from the helm. Perhaps a professional safety inspector to id critical areas. When caught in 40 plus knot winds, you want to be safe and dry inside. You might want to have spare sails, etc.
Take some rubber bands and put one on each hook where your fishing rods are hanging. Then secure the rods with them on the hook. When in some rough weather they will stay better on their place.
Not quite bringing the board around to track with the kite as it pulls away, and ending up in the drink, is a bit like hang gliding lessons and forgetting to put your legs down when coming in for your first proper landing landing. lol. Go MP! Nice to see a bit of the community life happening on the shores around you there.
@@SailingYaba 👍👌👏 That's great news. It will be a while until everything on Yaba is comfortable respectively as good as possible for you. But I'm sure that you two will get there. Best regards, luck and especially health to all 4 of you.
I'm NC and I have never seen croaker that big! Very good eating, but the outside edges of the gills are waiting to give you a Nasty cut!!! I was told, they use them to free themselves from gill nets and fishing lines. Love your Sunday videos!!!
If you can tig weld you can gas weld. Try it with oxyacetylene. All the roughness will corrode. Practice your arc stick welding on the ground. You may have too much line loss with the long cables.
You could figure out a way to stow your smaller dinghy on the side of Yaba and a way to remove the motor from your larger dinghy from the aft by way of a pulley then stow it on your aft deck then stow your dinghy from the aft up in a medium weight net rigging.
It great to see you all are having such a wonderful time in this new way of life called Yaba. As time progresses you will make improvements and adjustments to suit your lifestyle and objectives. I would be really happy to see Yaba become a capable sail boat which doesn’t have to rely heavily on her engines. But it’s one step a time. Enjoy guys!!
You might consider getting an experienced consultant on helping you with running rigging and where to place winches and blocks to trim all of your sails more effectively. Best Wishes.
That stick to your ear is an old mechanics trick. So if your wondering what your engine sounds like when it's running just get a three foot stick, put one end on the engine and the other to your ear and you'll hear every noise your engine makes.
That's not falling that's being slightly out of control, it's the in control parts that count, bloody well done! maybe too well 😂 i'm sure you just encouraged some people to go swallow some seawater 😂✊🏻🏴
The way you have the valve positioned on the first tank you showed means the fuel at the bottom of the tank has to flow up hill. How does that work? You could turn the 90º elbow a quarter turn , then you could use all of your fuel.
BY now you should be thinking of a water catchment system with a huge roof like that. Having to cart water when you see the amount running off your roof doesn't make sense!!
Mess around boats! Enjoy your life coastwise cruising. Blue water sailing was not for me and my big old Atkins ketch, like Yabá was a very comfortable live aboard!
Think it would be wise to clip/secure your diesel pipes than leaving them loose plus your junction unit should be a lot more secure as in heavy seas and vibrations from engine will start chafing the pipes
Hi all, am I missing something since watching from the very start? Where is there any video showing the interior of the boat, also the full living area on top as well as below?
Ben just fillet the fish don't need to scale them too much hard work and mess oh yea that's an old trick we learnt from Fiji put pipe in water listen to fish
You need to learn how to properly filet a fish so you don’t have to mess with all those nasty scales. First, get your knife super sharp. Don’t scale it. Cut in behind the front fin and flirt toward the tail, just like your doing now. But when you get to the tail, stop before you break the skin. Flip the filet over onto the skin/scale side. Now, continue running your knife, but now run the knife between the flesh and the skin on what is now the bottom side of the filet. As you get better at it the less flesh you will leave on the skin. Doing it this way you will be able to filet a lot of fish extremely quickly and never have to scale fish or have the nasty scales all over your boat! Good luck!!
Whoo you can Catch a fish and give it away ..here in New Zealand this is Illegal ..big fines...if you want a fish here you must be the one who is holding the rode..at the moment we have 3 MAF. Boats working the bay and no one has been fishing..we are all to afraid to ..
Cooking over open flame in a dinghy within inches of a a gasoline powered outboard and fuel lines, and a tankful of gasoline. Brilliant. I think Ben lacks the experience or the maturity to sail that boat without an experienced crew. Some of the judgements made are not conducive to being a captain and being responsible for the safety of the ship or the lives. Need adult supervision otherwise, your enthusiasm and can do attitude will put you in very dire situations.
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Excellent opening footage, beautiful view of white sand beach with Yaba on the water.

Your rear platform on Yaba has so many uses with a good spray of water to clean it up. What a nice life you have and it's going to get even better.

I don’t know why I love watching this stuff but I wouldn’t miss it for anything I guess I’m just jealous and would love to have that life
Hey congrats - didn't notice you blew past 100K subs. You really do deserve everyone.
Thank you so much! We're so grateful for each and every person following our journey!
Go MP!!!!!!!!
Kite surfing looks like work! I wish I was still young enough to enjoy that stuff!😂😂
It is definitely a lot of effort to learn but also so much fun!
Kehidupan di lautan sangat menyenangkan❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Indeed!
Thanks a million, great to see there is time for enjoyment! 😍😍😍
Thank YOU for being here!
Keep going with the kite surfing MP you will master it in no time.
Steven 🇬🇧
Thanks!! 🪁
Having fun is part of the journey, that wind surfing looked like it was a blast, you rock MP.
Thank you!! It’s a blast indeed!
Hey MP, that's really impressive that you got up on the kiteboard so soon. Tool me way longer to first get up.
Boa tarde pessoal.😊😊😊
Boa tarde!!!
Don’t worry kid after enough practice you’ll get the hang of kite surfing. You can fall only so many times until you get the feel of it then enjoy.
I suggest you put some velcro on the open hook holding the fishing rods as any rough seas will have them falling down!!!
Thanks, guys, I really needed your video tonight. I'm so sick of everything else!
Glad you found a little escape from the noise! Thanks for watching
I'm liking the preliminary design of the stanchion system! It looks so much more solid than the last attempt :)
We’re happy you like it! It’s going to be so much stronger!
Hey Hey, Hey. Let's get to sailing ⛵️ along with Yaba' folks. Dennis USA 🇺🇸 N.C.

Thank you for the Sunday morning smile, your amazing 👏.
Legal esse aprendizado com o kitsurf.☺️☺️☺️
Tomara que eu consiga aprender! 😂
That was good decision to get what you could fix that that harbor that you could make your ship more seaworthy !!

We called Corvina or Drum Fish down here in Miami, FL. Not a typical fish of these waters. Excellent for Ceviche! Saludos!
Agora temos um domingo feliz!! GO YABÁ!!!🥰🥰🐕🐕⛵️🩵

GREAT video! (Your food always looks amazing.) Awesome, MP! 🤗❤️😎
Ben when you showed water leak in the roof in the rain. But love how dry the bottom on the inside was
Way to go MP!!!! Nothing is impossible if you just try!!!
Yay! 💪
Kitesurfing looks fun. Equipment easily stored on Yaba

landing. lol. Go MP! Nice to see a bit of the community life happening on the shores around you there.
It looks like you need a fish cleaning station there.

The davit system is supposed to offer us a barbecue place, a fish cleaning station and more ☺️

How long did it take you to learn to speak portuguese ??, because you appear very comfortable speaking it.
Enjoying your lovely lifestyle on yaba 🙂

Are you ever going to give us a tour of the inside?
When it’s readier ☺️
😃😃😃
You guys are such couple goals... Screw the Anderw Tates of the world. I want a Ben of my own...
I’m a lucky girl! 🍀
Yarr!
How about a tour of the interior are you ever going to properly finish your decks
We are working on some details before a proper boat tour, including finishing the deck!
@@SailingYaba thank you for replying looking forward to seeing the update and tour all the best ❤👍😀
I don’t know why people scale fish. It’s best to let it cook skin to the fire with scales on to protect the meat. Then you can just peel it off.
What is the story on those large square-rigged ships around you at anchorage.
The last time I did something for the time I was 14 ,and her name was sue😎
🙈🙉🙊
5:26 ... literally completely absolutely dry ... like dry, you mean?
Ben just fillet the fish don't need to scale them too much hard work and mess oh yea that's an old trick we learnt from Fiji put pipe in water listen to fish
Need to learn how to lock your outboard in down position.😂😂
Be easier to use a fork to scale the fish
You need to learn how to properly filet a fish so you don’t have to mess with all those nasty scales.
First, get your knife super sharp. Don’t scale it. Cut in behind the front fin and flirt toward the tail, just like your doing now. But when you get to the tail, stop before you break the skin. Doing it this way you will be able to filet a lot of fish extremely quickly and never have to scale fish or have the nasty scales all over your boat!
