Hi, I have an 06 xB set up for car camping/last minute need somewhere to sleep scenarios; I'm afraid I cant answer your first question as cars are just not good insulators for sleeping in freezing temps; Especially if you like to keep a window cracked for ventilation like I do. The second question tho: I learned off a couple videos here to make custom fit sun shields for all my windows. The one I watched cut templates from really large sheets of paper idk what they were - you could tape together sheets of paper or cardboard & just have to work with it until it fits the window. Then you can just get the large $40 roll of Reflectix from the Home Depot by the insulation. It's the same stuff windshield reflectors are made of. Use your template (or just wing it like I did & duct tape patch it together) to make a shade that fits the window. Then I used duct tape folded over all the edges that will wedge into the window frame. I also left an inch or so gap at the top, with just one section left long in the middle to tuck into the top of the window frame & unless it's really windy, it holds itself in place. Could also try adhesive velcro strips or adding magnets might be better - the velcro is a mess/can melt off. I painted one side of all my reflectors black for night/stealthier. Actually I opened my door panels & stuffed sheets of extra Reflectix in the dead space to help insulation/quiet road noise. It's not actually insulation but a heat barrier, but is useful. I taped it to the outside of my cooler as well & made a sleeve & cap for my camp cook pot. Hope this helps!

I kept the headrest on because I have to sleep with my arm under my head in a way. (since we all sleep differently in different positions) the only thing bad ima say on sleeping bags (my seats don’t lay out flat by choice) is once you get in it it loves to slide you towards the pedals lol, can’t stand that. I can’t crack the windows during winter cause I wanna keep as much heat in as possible but you’re right. You should've gotten a Prius or Highlander Hybrid. They let you run the AC all night using the electric battery in the hot summers. Doesn't run the gas.
@crystalearth33. They look low, especially the first gens (2004-2006.5) which the ground clearance is only 6.1 inches. The 2nd Gens sit an inch lower than the 1st Gens at 5.1inches, dirt roads are fine, but you have to watch because of lot of people who have previously owned them like to lower them. Cheap, Superior gas saver, fun and roomy little toasters lol. The only thing I and a lot of others don’t like is it’s horsepower sucks majorly. But I mean, it’s a grocery getting 4-cylinder sooo.. 🤷🏻♂️😂 buy parts to make it faster and boom, perfect little car.
Also I forgot to mention, I don’t really know since I haven’t rode in or drove the 2nd Gens but the 1st’ have sucky suspension...smh you’ll feel every bump and everything, but all you’d have to do is upgrade your suspension and walla lol.
I've had 2 2008 Scion xB's. One had zero oil burn, while the other one ran through oil at 1-1/2 to 2 quarts every 1000 miles. So its a bit of a lottery when buying one.
4:16, Hi, there is a cubby hole on each side, a few inches below the ceiling, about one foot to the left of your shoulder here in the video, I've been trying to figure out what they are for? Do you have any idea?
@@AdventuresWithJeffOG Thanks. I thought it is an odd shape for storage purpose. When I travel I park the car in the sun in the afternoon if possible to warm up the interior, it acts as a heat sink for half of the night. I took the backseat out and that reduced the weight and gave more space, if you have a place to store the seat . Forgot to say I cut a piece of ply board for bed.
There for the trd special option neting box .... But you have to buy them on eBay or Toyota you drill them in and you can have extra little storage for like your car cleaning supplies useless $100 for not much storage
@Dave Vasquez, either 2 ways, 1: taillight trim number 2 (darker lenses). 2: You can go to any auto store and by some spray paint that’s specifically for taillights and headlights. 🙂

@@AdventuresWithJeffOG Yep you can get a 2008-2012 hybrid ish for about $10-12kk limited edition with leather around 100k miels.
ITakeYourFood wow.. not bad and lots of space
What do you do for energy do you charge your phone in your car all the time or what
DertyMontana yeah pretty much! Phones always charged!
I’m curious how you got your seats to fold flat. My 09 just wont go completely flat for some reason.
Same thing with my 14
@@sincitylizzy417 I ended up getting it as flat as I could, and when I Put a bed in there I just put a pillow under the plywood to make it level.
hey what about the ground clearance, seems kinda low? I do dirt roads and they are not always perfect....
What are you doing now 2022 god bless🌹
Look at the videos!!
Have you had any issues with the excessive oil burn?
Manveer Dhillon yeah it sucks I gotta put a quart in twice a month. No biggie tho
I've had 2 2008 Scion xB's. One had zero oil burn, while the other one ran through oil at 1-1/2 to 2 quarts every 1000 miles. So its a bit of a lottery when buying one.
Toyota replaed the engine in my 2008 when the oil started burning.
@@Poler777
My 05 Scion xB hurts my ass! What do I do!?
What year is your XB?
Will C Bassin! 2008
4:16, Hi, there is a cubby hole on each side, a few inches below the ceiling, about one foot to the left of your shoulder here in the video, I've been trying to figure out what they are for? Do you have any idea?
aaa zzz they are just extra space apparently. For trying to fit more in the back maybe? That’s all I know :)
@@emmanuelortiz2490 ,thank you. You answered my nagging question of four years.
Do you cook in your scion?
Sometimes, I have a wooden skimboard that I use as a table
Nice setup - but don't call it a Jeep, haha.
I don’t think the Gen 1 would sleep in as well.
I can't see the video. It's all blurred out.
It shouldn’t be
What kind of paint you put on the rear stops?
@Dave Vasquez, Hello, can you explain your question a little bit clearer? What do you mean by “rear stops”?
@@a.j.callahan5980 rear bulbs 🙂
@Dave Vasquez, either 2 ways, 1: taillight trim number 2 (darker lenses). 2: You can go to any auto store and by some spray paint that’s specifically for taillights and headlights. 🙂
A.J. Callahan thanks Callahan, sorry for my English
@Dave Vasquez, No problem man, it’s all good just didn’t know what you meant lol, it’s really easy to do.
Anyone....Can you sleep in the back of a Kia Soul like this?
Not sure, but if the seats fold down flat you probably could do it
A buddy of mine has a 2019 Kia Soul and it’s a bit smaller in my opinion but it’s manageable.
Is this car good for driving Uber?
@Tom L, Yes sir is it, even the 1st Gens (2004-2006.5) are great for Ubering. xBs are supper roomy, comfortable and have great driving visibility. 🙂
Too bad these suckers burn oil like CRAZY with that 2.4 engine.
I love these vehicles but wouldn't buy one over the oil consumption issue they all have
FYI, the oil consumption issue was on year models 2008 to 2010...rest of modes through 2015 are OK
Ford flex is better
It’s pretty good!
