I think you are correct with the pro arguments in both videos.
One small thing that annoyed me when I upgraded to Logic is that the project note pad does not work as an ordinary MacOS editor. You have to double-click in the editing area or click the "Edit" button to activate writing mode. I don't know how many times I have opened the project notes, klicked in it an started writing and a lot of ugly stuff happened to Logic, because it thought you were sending shortcut commands to the tracks area. The peculiar thing is that "little brother" GarageBand does not behave like that. If you click in the notes area it gets activated, like in an ordinary mac app.

I think it's a matter of where you are in your music journey. I started out using GB to make ringtones (Had no idea how to use it otherwise). Then one day opened it up on my iPad and "plinked" around on the virtual keyboard. Then, I heard a "sound" I made. It sounded like music! Opened it up on my Mac, bought a MIDI keyboard and wrote a song! Then, while in the dropdown menu I saw "Learn About Logic Pro". I got the free trial, bought the full version and am publishing songs now! So ask yourself, where are you in your music journey? Just having fun or about to turn professional? Or ready to publish? You'll know what is right for you.

The touch of glass interface is cool, but the only real thing I can think of that I like about GarageBand more than logic is that incredibly wonderful keyboard that gives you the slide option so you can just put your pitch bends instantly without having to go in and draw automation

Hey Ulf, good catch there. I didn't it know it was so simple like that in GarageBand. I know it's a pain in Logic with notes, I've been there with the shortcut frustration.

I have both GB and Logic, but ya know what would be interesting, Charles? To list out maybe 10 big hits or artists who we'd all recognize who released a song totally produced on GB so we could say, "Hey, if THEY can do a song on GB and it sounds like that, maybe we can too".

That's a great idea, Jim. I'd like to see that list too.

Just googled the above. To be honest I got tired of ever-changing settings within Logic Pro and am about to give it up. The moment I plug out the logic (my mac) from studio inputs and take it out elsewhere to play around with some notes and stuff in Logic I am surprized to find that all sounds i worked so hard to make, tones, plugins have suddenly been changed into something that was not to be there. I am probably missing a lot of things here but come on Apple products should be way easier to use. they made a good Huawei phone out of Logic.

It's nice to watch a video where the person stays on point. I am sure we all have seen video's on UA-cam where people talk about their personal lives instead of the chosen subject. Excuse my long winded response here, but your video's have have inspired to to try the Magic of Music itself.

So nice to hear something good about this cool little program! I've been getting some great results but still find it a bit odd when it refuses to recognize my Amp modeller (Valeton GP-100) or Line 6 Pod Studio GX( old but sound great. Other than some unbalanced bass notes in my synth music I love it it has a great EQ1 Subbed!

your videos are always very clear and pleasant to watch and nice comments!
I am a bassist myself who makes drum grooves from the list of GB that I am a fan of, just nice and simple.
Play with my basses via interface and use an M-audio master board for support (synt patches or piano)
I have been in doubt for a long time about Logic pro
Does Logic sound that much better than GarageBand in its sound engine?
In GB I can also load files/waves from Logic from musicians who do use it.
Or is upgrading my interface (i-track solo Focusrite) a better investment?
thank you in advance for your advice!
    regards,

hi! I use to have protools, logic, etc... But long story, life happened, and now I only have a budget at the moment to use garage band. I have my laptop, mic and a Focusrite audio interface. Will I be able to load my stems from my (beat)track and record good vocals with GarageBand ??

if i want to do this as a career is it worth learning ogic pro or sticking with Garage band. This is as a solo musician and a worship band.

On logic, I don't use the logic sound library, apart from a few synths I like. Only the synths are installed, The rest of my sound library, comes from toon track, arturia, Spitfire Audio, Native Instruments among others etc etc.

Im horrible with computers, yet I bought a Dell hoping to learn to record. Bad mistake. I have cakewalk and its extremely difficult for me.
Im told that mixcraft 9 is gonna be the easiest daw for windows.
However, my guitarist uses garageband exclusively with unbelievable results. He promises me that GB will be the easiest daw to learn, but I'll need a mac.
So basically, I blew $1400 on a Dell that I'm too stupid to use. So I'm forced to rely on engineers for every session.
But sometimes I'd just like to be able to do grab my harmonica, and record a raw session to send to a real studio. .
So my question is, have you tried mixcraft? And would you find it as easy as garageband for newbies?

all the daws suck lol garage band is probably the most easiest. any free DAW is going to be a pain to learn. GB is probably the easiest to learn since it comes with macbook.

    • @jimzabloski

Nah, man. I have half a dozen orchestral pieces on my YT channel (listen to "Main Theme" for example, has strings, horns, harp, synth, drums, oboe, etc.). What it doesn't have in GB are 140 different horn options like Logic, which I find just overwhelming sometimes.

@@CharlesCleynI agree. I'm a 54 homeschooling mom. I've been composing my first orchestral piece, my own "Be Thou My Vision". I'm using GB on a Mac, upgraded from the iPad version. I've downloaded free BBC Discovery and LABS from Spitfire Audio (UK). All has worked beautifully and seamlessly. No problems. And it's AMAZING. I hope to finish by Christmas.

Well I think that I should look at more of your videos because I’ve had garage band for so long it’s ridiculous. I’ve also had Logic Pro 9 and X for years and years. I’ve bought instructional videos and have had knowledgeable people come by, and I’m still like a caveman writing ✍🏾 on the cave wall. It’s so time consuming that I prefer practicing and studying music.🤔😟🤷🏽‍♂️
