Good question. I believe you CAN, however if you use the Uconnect smartphone app for remote start, you would definitely lose that capability. The Durango in this video was a SXT so it didn’t have factory-installed remote start. I traded it in and now have a 2019 Durango RT.
I had to replace the ceiling-mounted climate control unit, but after that, yes it worked. I couldn’t control the rear climate from the head unit, though.
Hi Dave, nice upgrade. I have a 2021 Dodge Durango and it didn’t come with Homelink. I found a overhead console with Homelink and it plugged right in. Are you familiar with how to get this upgrade to work?
That infotainment kit is $1500 to get started and not worth it to me unless you love the uconnect system. Personally i wasn't a fan of it but i only had the smaller screen version so getting away from the platform was my goal. I was able to get a kenwood headunit with carplay and other parts needed to maintain factory controls for $850ish installed. Local shops quoted me 1299 and 1500 plus tax but was able to save tremendously by shopping around for parts and using best buy. Best buy installs head units for free if you spend $200 or more. Only had the radio for a week but so far i love it and i will be changing the door speakers next because they can't handle half the volume settings of the new headunit. If you are interested in more info i could provide a parts list for everything needed.
@@davewood4329 Any chance you can check the hub and report the part #? I ordered the hub through mopar and received a hub with no brackets, so that's disappointing. It should be stamped on top of the hub (white sticker) at 2:23 of your video.
Yowza, $150 for a $20 mini USB hub? Thanks Dodge! I wonder if you can purchase a new UConnect unit rather than chancing it via the eBay route, and what the cost would be. Do you happen to have the part number for the 2018+ UConnect unit? I have a ‘16 R/T and the lack of CarPlay has been killing me.
Parts numbers would have been AWESOME!!
Apparently that’s too much to ask for.
Thanks for the video. Can you still use your key fob for remote start?

Hi Dave! How much cost you the head unit and the ports?
Cool !!! But your rear climate is working?

So after replacing the rear climate control did you have access on the screen ?

William D did you got apple CarPlay for the old system just changing the hub?
How much did it cost?
Leandro Rodrigues Salomão about $600 for the radio and $150 for the new USB media hub.
Did you get it at the dealer?
Leandro Rodrigues Salomão I got the radio on eBay, and the media hub at the dealer.
Thank you for sharing.👍🏻
