"Need For Speed: High Stakes" was my personal best OLD school Need For Speed game. Although, "Need For Speed: Underground 2" was my personal BEST Need For Speed game.
@tho080701: Customising was never meant for NFS. It's only when Underground was released when they started customisation. The Run isn't about customisation either. Get that into your head.
@electropothy I am fully aware they used to be about racing high end super cars, as I played many of the older games. I was merely stating the underground series more. Apologies if It looked like I meant something else.
@BannedMann I didn't misunderstand you, you misunderstand the issue around Origin. There is a reason why its been a central issue around BF3. You can't play BF3 without Origin, if you don't want Origin, you can't have BF3. Considering that Origin is the biggest piece of legal spyware ever created (and before you mention steam, its fundamentally different in what info it collects) many, including myself, are willing to forgoe BF3 to avoid Origin install.
@Snowbau5 Well honestly, They're two different games. Forza is a Racetrack game. Havn't seen much of Forza 4, But 2 and 3 are on the racetrack. Need for speed (Minus Shift..Havn't played) is a City, Street game. Racing on the streets, and highways. You could compare graphics and cars, But All in all, they're both fantastic.
@BannedMann BF3 is being developed specifically for PC (or so they claim) so most of the sales will be on PC, its the platform i would have got it on if EA weren't screwing people over left right and center, so Origin is an issue for me. Just because you're playing on console doesn't mean others won't be put off by Origin.
Honestly,I don't mind if I don't have Porche in GT.I still have the RUF's.NFS was actually good as an arcade racer untill Pro Street.And EA is actually a publisher,they don't make games.Some games published by EA are actually good(like Battlefield for example).
Honestly the amount of people complaining about how EA have an exclusive license to use Porsches, is kinda sad, there isn't much difference that would result from other people having the Porsche licenses as well, maybe when you actually own a real life Porsche not a virtual one will you have something to complain about
I have a feeling EA kept Porsche out of FM4 because their license expires pretty soon (beginning next year). Maybe Porsche doesn't want to renew the contract so that they can market their cars better and EA are making use of the time they have left. Remember, we originally didn't have the Nissan GT-R in FM3. This was also due to absurd licensing, (Party not wanting the Car to have damage/modding when it got the same treatment already in other games) eventually though we got it in a DLC pack. =)
@cacarca Do you know what a monopoly is? They aren't prohibiting other companies from selling their racing games. It's like Rock Band versus Guitar Hero. Both hold exclusive rights to certain songs. That's not a monopoly. Just fair competition.
My two younger cousins were playing outside the other day. One walked up to the other and asked if he could play with his Tonka truck for a while. The other cousin replied by screaming no and running away with the Tonka truck tight in his arms..... hmmm seems kinda familar.
@MrSparta93 I've already traded in all of my EA games for Forza 4. Not planning on buying any more. Now I'm just counting down the days until FM4 drops.
EA, I kinda hoped that since you hold the ~EXCLUSIVE~ license for Porsche vehicles, you'd at least do the brand justice and quote the proper power and torque figures for the cars.
Posted this the other day,and i'll post it again. "i don't understand why people are bitching at EA.During the Supercar challenge beta,we asked the lead dev why Supercar and ferrari challenge wasn't on Xbox.He replied,Msoft wouldn't allow them to use the licence,effectively blocking the release of two games.You'd think this would hurt the racing game eco system" it's hilarious reading the responses,knowing what i know :)
EA is just wasting the Porsche license. Will you ever see EA put a 550 Spyder, 959, 917, 968, 944, 914, 993, 962, 356, 911 Cup, 911 RSR, LMP Spyder, or any other iconic Porsche in these NFS games? NO. EA is ruining it for everyone else.
The irony, i became a Porsche fan because of my favorite racing game of all time(Porsche Unleashed) Good bye EA. I'll never buy another game from you until Forza has Porsches again.
@neymoura Because EA has decided they won't share their Porsche license anymore. Now, the ONLY game you can drive a Porsche, is N4S. The racing genre should never be restricted by exclusivity. This is the kind of marketing nonsense that takes anti-competitive behaviour to a whole new lever.
@natransformer Because EA has decided they won't share their Porsche license anymore. Now, the ONLY game you can drive a Porsche, is N4S. The racing genre should never be restricted by exclusivity. This is the kind of marketing nonsense that takes anti-competitive behaviour to a whole new lever.
Having perused the comments section below, I have deduced that the majority of EA's player demographic is unable to differentiate "PORSCHE" (the car manufacturer) from "PORCH" or "PORCHE" (the enclosed area projecting from the front door of a domicile). Ergo, it can be concluded that most buyers of NFS video games are in fact tragically misinformed furniture shoppers who simply want a weatherproof wicker loveseat that can lap the Nurburgring in less than seven and a half minutes.
@AngelFromHeaven000 Great rant kid. I'm 29 years old and have a full time job. It can't possibly be the best NFS ever made because NFS Porsche Unleashed was, but I'm sure you aren't old enough to even remember that.
Porsche is the only thing the NFS franchise really has going for it anymore. Every release seems to have fewer and fewer people who care. Sucks, but I can't blame them for holding on to the only thing they really have going for them.
It's Porsche that need to get their shit together. They don't get what role games could play for their future market, it really could weaken their brand. Selling exclusive rights is just counterproductive.
@2centsNATHAN Because EA are banning it in any other game, particularly simulators, which would do the car greater justice as to its abilities. They have even forced Simbin to remove it from new copies of rFactor.
@Innomadic but licensing means nothing. Forza can create a car that has same performance as they would have made the porsche with similar looks and call it 'posha' for all it matters, forza cannot be told not to costum thier own concept cars and put them in the game. having said that seeing how forza goes for more 'realistic' gaming experience, having fake cars can slightly effect that. By the way i do think it is uncalled for that EA block license but i also think people are overreacting.
To make a great racing game you first have to make the cars drive and handle realistically and also get the Physics just right.... then make it look pretty. Need for speed never seem to get the first 2 right , cars understeer ALL THE TIME and they never get the feed back right(that is if they support wheels at all that is)
One who to blame really is Porsche company, because they signed exclusive contract and carrying it on. EA just doing their business, of course they don't want other games to include Porsche if they have paid for it.
What hurts even more, is that we can only enjoy the new Porsche 911 Carrera S in an arcade racing game. If EA truly cared, they would have made a Porsche Unleashed 2 and made it at least somewhat realistic. :/
umm EA where did you get that 500hp and 800lbs of torque from??? Jesus Christ not only can they get the driving physics wrong but they get their stats wrong aswell ferdinand porsche must be cursing is his grave like mad
@Martini109 Honestly if Microsoft acquired the exclusive license, they WOULD still sub license Gran Turismo, even if it was a huge price. I know it sounds like bullshit but the Forza 4 director himself (Dan Greenawalt) confessed that Porsche was not in the game because EA BLOCKED THEM OUTRIGHT. He even mentions Microsoft had the Ferrari license on Xbox 360 but they still shared it with other games so it would not "hurt the racing ecosystem". I'm hoping if Sony gains the license they would share.
QUESTION: Why do they not release a Need For Speed: Underground with HD graphics? I'd buy it. I mean the cars in this game have no character at all. For me need for speed is customising your car to look like no other car then show it to your friends and race. Not asking for much there EA. I know, I know... NFS first released games like this but lets be honest, NO ONE CARED TILL UNDERGROUND! :)
No Porsche cars in Forza 4, right? That game have the same number of chances with me as the numbers of porsches in Forza I was thinking to follow that game and see what happens , but not anymore.

@chrisdraper2007 I sort of agree but Forza is only on Xbox which is a shame
I understand the Underground series is better than The Run but don't hate on it. It's an option to make the game you see. EA doesn't know if people like you will like it or not unless they release it
It's a completely valid point to be pissed off about. Not all of us here are complaining that Porsche won't be in Forza, we're complaining because now you won't be able to drive ANY Porsche's unless you buy some low quality shit arcade game. It's completely absurd that the best Motorsport cars will not be in any motor sport games. You're probably some COD kid who would complain if EA bought out the license to M16s. If your so much better, don't get involved with the people who do actuallycare.
You won't find any swearing in this post, nor caps lock, nor excessive punctuation. That said, simply put, I will not buy another EA title as a result of this decision. The fact that you post this video on the heels of us all finding out about this in addition to the fact that your customers must buy the special edition of the game in order to even receive a standard Porsche model serves only as a smack in the face. Well done further alienating your customer base.
@Innomadic i think you missunderstood my first comment 'how can you boycott EA they make Battlefield game series' what i meant by that is the fact that it is a great game series that is hard to boycott because people will miss out. plus it is thier game so they can use it to promote thier own new client. about this subject i think people are overreacting so what if one or some cars are exclusive (i stopped buying NFS games a long time ago).
@LamboGallardo560 I think EA planned on removing Ferrari from Need for Speed while they were making Hot Pursuit 2. Need for Speed gave Ferrari one final "hoo-rah" in Hot Pursuit 2. The Ferraris in that game all performed like a beast, especially the F50. Too bad Hot Pursuit 2 was drowned out by the oncoming wave of Underground. I hate Underground, for changing the entire Need for Speed title for the worse...
Isn't it also Porche's fault for allowing the exclusivity in the first place? Same thing with the NFL, no one put a gun to their head and made them sign exclusive rights to EA for the NFL teams and players.
@athleticguyUK i actually like time trials in general, they're the best test of skill. But when you have a game with non-existent handling physics and civilian traffic time trials make no sense. Time trials are all about the racing line and mastering corners, two things that have absolutely no place in a game like Hot Pursuit.
"Need For Speed: High Stakes" was my personal best OLD school Need For Speed game.
Although, "Need For Speed: Underground 2" was my personal BEST Need For Speed game.
@Craigles4X4
yup EA have an exclusive offer with Porsche. if i'm not mistaken it ends 2014.
If this turns out to be as good as NFS HP I'm getting it!
@MeadeJ67 To be fair to EA, they did decide to put customization in, albeit not much; something like 3 bodykits for each car and custom paint.
@cpuspeed There were Porsches in Shift 2. 911 GT3 Cup, and 911 GT3 RSR
@tho080701: Customising was never meant for NFS. It's only when Underground was released when they started customisation. The Run isn't about customisation either. Get that into your head.
more driving, less effects
@electropothy I am fully aware they used to be about racing high end super cars, as I played many of the older games. I was merely stating the underground series more. Apologies if It looked like I meant something else.
There hasn't been a decent NFS game released in ten years, let the real developers have Porsche back.
yea I agree oohgoditsbees I enjoyed shift 2 a lot and didnt know about porsche and EA. why didnt they have porsches in shift 2?
holy crap!!!! only the sound of "The Run" makes me crazy ( i have a surroundsound system and it sounds awesome!!!! ;D)
@BannedMann

whyy whyy not the interior camera !!!??
Just one MMO Free Roam in a country, modding cars, customize cars etc stuff like that. That would be good
@BannedMann BF3 is being developed specifically for PC (or so they claim) so most of the sales will be on PC, its the platform i would have got it on if EA weren't screwing people over left right and center, so Origin is an issue for me.

@ambientflier but which one do tou think is better ??
Make sure to put plenty of motion blur and boostings for your game, also add in a red dot site somewhere brosef!!

well you missed out
EA need to make a most wanted 2, carbon 2 or underground 3 those games were all beast! :D
Get over it everyone and make need for speed underground 3 EA!
Pro-street remains my favourite of the series, where is it's sequel?
@MAEXProductions even though the so called "limited edition" is just the same price as the standard game, it's just limited.
To For(t)za 4 - Notice the Porsche? lmao
this reminds me of Porsche unleashed
have dice make another rally game,rallisport challenge games were awesome
EA, I kinda hoped that since you hold the ~EXCLUSIVE~ license for Porsche vehicles, you'd at least do the brand justice and quote the proper power and torque figures for the cars.

ATTENTION ALL! FORZA IS RELEASING A PORSCHE PACK IN MAY!!!!!
We get it EA, you're the only one with the Porsche license. Too bad NFS hasn't been good since Hot Pursuit.
i like the music of this trailer
wow, they put porches in and dont even incorporate the LED strips?
Every car in the game will sound exactly the same.
EA is just wasting the Porsche license. Will you ever see EA put a 550 Spyder, 959, 917, 968, 944, 914, 993, 962, 356, 911 Cup, 911 RSR, LMP Spyder, or any other iconic Porsche in these NFS games? NO. EA is ruining it for everyone else.

no you can't customize shit, they said it will divert you from the story which is the most important thing in NFS the Run

It's Porsche that need to get their shit together. They don't get what role games could play for their future market, it really could weaken their brand. Selling exclusive rights is just counterproductive.
could someone explain to me why everyone is mad because i dont get none of this arguement
@2centsNATHAN Because EA are banning it in any other game, particularly simulators, which would do the car greater justice as to its abilities. They have even forced Simbin to remove it from new copies of rFactor.
@ocalot2k5 no not really. the stories are not the same look it up
nfs the run, wwe 12, saints row 3, mw3 and battlefield 3
@airtwaine
Actually I'm not, I've got two games pre-ordered for the rest of the year. Halo Anniversary and the Forza 4 Limited Edition.
What going on? Porsche license is only in nfs or what?
@martolives thanks i understand now
EA shoukd know that some people love Forza more than nfs. they dont know how heart breaking it is for us Forza fans

To each his own.
@MeadeJ67 very true! i think the whole world wants NFSU3. im a german ..and seriously I WANT IT!
@zhoban Denying Polyphony Digital and Turn 10 the rights to feature Porsche in their games?
One who to blame really is Porsche company, because they signed exclusive contract and carrying it on. EA just doing their business, of course they don't want other games to include Porsche if they have paid for it.
Imagine Porsche in Gran Turismo+Premium car quality
Forza 4+autovista+Porsche, Fuck EA

@Jamezinho81
Get your facts straight....
EA is a game PUBLISHER. not game DEVELOPER.
I miss Need for speed 2...
@WhuBilly10 What is a sequel to Most Wanted if not this?
Can't wait until Microsoft claims the license next year.
Boycotting every NFS game until EA learns how to Share.

@GazVonhammer What do u know?
@GamerOfYear2000 Who's pegi? Are you sure she's not legal?
You dislike this video. Thanks for the feedback!
Wow, it's as though they purposely fan the flames releasing this trailer. Hope sales of this game bomb.

@hassan3o7 where does it say that?
and Turn10 ;)
@chrisdraper2007
If Polyphony could use Porsches, you best believe I would be racing 917s at La Sarthe and 956s at the Nurburgring!

@92GrimmReaper thats because everyone is pissed about what ea did to Forza
@zoeimusic: And you're absolutely wrong.
