13 Fishing's Concept line up are some of my favorite casting reels ever. Great ergonomics, excellent 22 lb bull dog drag, excellent cast-ability and much more. I've owned the Concept A, Concept C and the Concept Z. Over the span of fishing Concept almost exclusively for 2 years straight I had to give them up. Ultimately in the long run they simply do not hold up to the salt. I clean my reels at regular intervals, breaking them completely apart, however even with that the reels ultimately began to have issues with corrosion. Without going into all the specifics my concept z only lasted 3 weeks before the spool tension knob completely sheered off. I wanted the line up to succeed so bad I kept buying them. However, I eventually had to call it a loss and switch back to my trusty Shimanos. Again, out of the box these reels are above the rest. If they could perform like they did out of the box or even close to it, I would be sold. However, that simply was not the case for me.
My Concept A and C for the price are not worth the money . The king to me is still Shimano reels currado k and my chronarch Gs are still performing years later. Sold the concept C and gave away the A to my nephew
Great review brother. There will always be “Brand Wagons” It’s a real review based on how it performed for you and that’s what makes your vids great. Keep‘ m coming and tight lines.
Great review, I own the concept C and it is super smooth and I can cast very far with mine. I had loads of fun with mine hauling Hugh bass from Fayetteville lake. Get yourself the concept C reel and keep it, you’ll enjoy years of fun with it.
dunno if yoube tried the cheaper Daiwa Tautula CT but ill juist say this i bought it then bought a concept A.. returned concept in 3 days and exchanged it for shimano curado and returned curado to academy after owning it a month and i will just say this. the tatula at 130$ is leaps and bounds better than the curado and concept... the concept wesnt too bad i just didnt like how it felt it iddnt feel natural then the shimano... if i got the slightest but oif salt water on the curado it was grinding and not sounding well at all id have to clean it constantly just for it to reel or cast smooth no matter how i set tension or braking... ended up having a 200 paper weight cuz it made me not want to use it. bought tatula b4 all those from FTU and it cats a freakin mile out of the bo and i couldnt bird nest it no matter what... into 15mph winds all day with light lures... u name it and it gets soaking wet from my paddle everytime in th yak and never misses a beat it doesnt grind with a lil sandy water on it at all, i tink its wll worth over 200 yet costs 130... its the reg CT the type r has a lighter spool and ive heard from a few ppl the reg CT is much better... i swear by it... take my word for it its worth more than the curado and concept together imo... 200 reel should have out performed all day but it was a huge let down being i was told curados were amazing... try one out sometime if u can or if i u see u again or ur truck i mean out fishing one of these days ill try n stick around and u can try mine you wont regret it... i use the blue 20lb super slick on it and its just perfect ive told quite a few shimano lovers about it they told me i was nuts still they tried the tatula.... they were sold.. not heavy like curado.. concept was almost topo light for me... but casted good but the only baitcaster i can hand my daughters even the 3 yr old and not worry about her birdnestin it is that daiwa... makes me wonder about the lexa and higher end daiwas,,, if the tatulas this good thoe must be heaven... / damn that was a long comment sorry no punctuation aint nobody got time for that
I have a Concept A and it is back on the rod rack now. Was awesome out of the box, but overtime it did not hold up to the salt water (corrosion). I would break it down completely after 2 fishing trips just to clean up corrosion, and was never dunked under water neither. Nail in the coffin was when i hooked up a mid slot redfish, and the spool would not turn at a certain spot when turning the handle. Ended up landing the fish, got home, took it apart, the main gear had sheard 3 teeth. Still have a concept c that has not touched the water. Lew and shimano for me.
I'll never buy another concept reel again. I have the concept a and it has now been reduced to a emergency reel. I'll stick to my lews and diawa reels. I've had the lews and diawa for over 3 yrs now and they have outlasted my concept a that's only 8 months old. And I baby my reels after each use. I know everyone has their own opinion and I respect that. But all in all, great video.
There's a constant grinding and the drag slips. It's never been dunked or soaked. Should never happen with a $180 reel unless it's never been taken care of.
one more ting . lmao i bought a cheapo tournament choice baitcastr from academy one day cuz it was 14 on clearance took out bushing from tension knob and put in extra bearing i had... outperforms the curado and concept i had not even kidding lmao
I have a concept z that has already failed under warranty. How do you clean off the saltwater when your done fishing? Have had terrible luck with "saltwater" baitcasters.....
that new revo ws garbage the 100$ one i think it was the revo x... garbage reel, exchanged mine towards a concept a then 3 days later exchanged concept for a curado and took back curado a month later cuz it was garbage too the whole tim my daiwa tatula shat on them other reels at 130$ i dare someone to prove me wrong on its performance, ull be in love ith it haha
Not tough to adjust settings. You do not have to pull the spool out to adjust breaks. Just pop the side plate open and hold your thumb on the spool and you can adjust easily. Imo
If you really want to watch a review on a reel watch Tackle Advisors. He actually knows what he is talking about and is not just giving basic information like this guy.
Good review. Those pricey tho. Ever heard of the Aegir Low-Profile Baitcast Reel? I've heard really good reviews on this budget reel. It's available on fishingsir.com and goes for $40. Might be something to consider reviewing.

Wow..the guy at your Academy sounds like he knows something about fishing and reels. They don't know anything about them at mine.
Great review brother! It doesn’t disappoint.

Great review man, hope to see you in the store soon man! Bill is super knowledgeable about anything and everything fishing related!
Concept A never disappoints, the Concept Z even better for upper slot reds and monster trout 🤙🏽 great vid buddy
Great review, I own the concept C and it is super smooth and I can cast very far with mine. I had loads of fun with mine hauling Hugh bass from Fayetteville lake. Get yourself the concept C reel and keep it, you’ll enjoy years of fun with it.
Well done Mark, wouldn't mind casting that one a few times!

Great review Mark, seems like a nice little reel with some back bone!

Having problems with my origin C. About every ten casts it engages during the cast right after the throw. Very frustrating
All I can say is my money will be spent on lews or diawas from here on out. Never again on concepts anythings.
my tatula out performed my concept a and curado both so much i returned them ans no regrets... u got a tatula?
Yes I do. I love my Tatula. It's a beast. Comes with me on all my kayaking trips. My Tatula and Lews inshore are my go to reels when I'm out.
Great video bud!!.I use to chunk them reels faithfully until you found the reasons why I switched reels, that little problem gets worse.
Awesome video mr mark ..... was. Wondering if u still doing the big decals if so please let me know
Shimano and Daiwa baitcasting reels are all you need. Whatever price point they have you covered.✌
Tatula > curado and concepts for sure
My cousin’s concept A pretty much stopped working after 1 season of light inshore fishing. We put a hurting on trout and flounder with it though.
Good review, but I’ve heard too many bad things about them! I’ll stick to Shimano for my higher priced reels.
but the 130$ tatula poos on the new curado... bnig time maybe older curados id go with but that new one no way i returned mine
Great video ilove concept reel 😉😉😉
Nice reel Mark, seems like it handles the big fish well
Looks good. 👍
one more ting . lmao i bought a cheapo tournament choice baitcastr from academy one day cuz it was 14 on clearance took out bushing from tension knob and put in extra bearing i had... outperforms the curado and concept i had not even kidding lmao
just got a trolling moto for my yak the fish are doomd i just need a marine deep cycle battery n im gooooone and register it ughh
I have a concept z that has already failed under warranty. How do you clean off the saltwater when your done fishing? Have had terrible luck with "saltwater" baitcasters.....
C Johnson wipe real down with wd 40 before you use can also use reel magic but wd cheaper
Also if you rinse your reels with fresh water do it with very low water pressure.
Keep from pushing the salt into the reel.
@@Blaze_terror I did start doing that this summer and had much better results. Just used the mist option on the nozzle! Thanks!
u return it and get a daiwa tatula thats how u clean it lol prove me wrong... u try the tatula ull never buy anotehr shimano or concept reel again
I love my A...it's my go to..I like it better than my C
I used to be big on Abu Garcia reels, but man I have the concept TX edition and the concept Z and both reel are amazing.
Dirty Fishing Channel that’s what I’m talking about!
Last time me and u went fishing together I was still in the truck ...windows up and I could hear the z....things loud as f...looks bad ass though
Cesar Esparza hahahaha! Good times brother!!!!
that new revo ws garbage the 100$ one i think it was the revo x... garbage reel, exchanged mine towards a concept a then 3 days later exchanged concept for a curado and took back curado a month later cuz it was garbage too the whole tim my daiwa tatula shat on them other reels at 130$ i dare someone to prove me wrong on its performance, ull be in love ith it haha
Great review, awesome reel
SlikRik yes sir
Not all of us spend $250 or more on reels, looks like a good value
Nice reel
Hey Mark when's the next fishing🎣🚣🎣🚣 meet and greet
Nice reel , casting adjustments look like a pain . Set the hook brother

I fish with a lews and a diawa..but i love the cork style grips it has on the concept A..where they real cork or just look alike..nice vid bro
looked like real cork to me.
yes real cork its nice light reel but i thought the handle was too big its not a well balanced reel was what i thought daiwa tatula perfect

Like I said watch out for shimano fan boys lol
