I used to use St. Croix a bunch and then some long haired flip flop wearing guy from California told me that Shimano Exprides were the best bang for the buck on the market. I could only hear that so many times before I had to try one. Now I own 5 and every year I try and get another model. My wife does not thank you, nor does my wallet, but I sure do. Thank you for all you do.
Love y’all’s channel been watching for years! I JUST preordered the new SLX XT about 2 weeks ago, big sigh of relief when I saw it in this video! Should be here any day now! Keep up the great work you two!
Matt !! Can’t express how much information I gain from every video guys! Can’t thank you guys enough for the dedication to the sport! See ya on the Chick!
Love your videos, long lost teen passion came back to life and your videos have really helped me figure out the fishing and understanding so many different methods. Just received a bunch of new rods , 3 poison adrena casting rods 6’10M/ 7’3MH/ 7’4H as well a mega bass Tequilla Baccaraque. Hello from Canada 🫶🏻
Being in the musical instrument business I find the Shimano Poison Adrena rod of particular interest because the handle is hollow. An acoustic guitar is hollow and made of thin wood so it can vibrate. So then the handle of the Shimano pickups the vibration of the string and transmits it to the handle just like the strings or a guitar sends the vibration to the wood and makes it vibrate. So it makes a lot of sense to me.
As usual Matt an outstanding job on the review. Just confirms your and Tim's position as Number One UTube bassin channel. Thank you for your devotion to our sport.
Yup. I hear ya. Too much hype on new gear! Wait a year and buy old stock of the previous year 🎉🎉 save hundreds. Or you guys can just purchase in Canada and have a friend bring it over for a fishing trip.
I'm excited about the Vanford and the SLX. For years I wouldn't go under the Curado line. A year and a half ago, I tried a SLX Mg 71, on an Orochi- Diablo Spec R, for large Kanata size jerkbaits and open water, ledge/rock jig fishing. I have been beyond impressed with what I had previously considered a more entry level reel. If its even better, I will certainly own more. Its alot less annoying getting an SLX scratched up, than my Metaniums, Aldebarens etc!
Honest to god you gies almost got me more geeked out on what I’m catching them on an how good it feels with that particular set up then the bite itself, but you gies truly changed everything with breaking down how each action works an what it works for on rods years ago , I jus can’t imagine a true high end combo smh with how nice 100. $ reel 100 $ rod feels at this point you gies are the best can’t wait for the next
I love my Cashion Icon 6'10 ML and Shimano Curado BFS combo. Got it at the start of summer and have been crushing fish with it. So much fun! I even got my wife to catch fish with it and she agreed it was a good purchase!
A need a smaller wish list or a way better paying job. The reviews you have really help me put my money where it needs to go. It sucks to buy something hoping it will do what you want and last.
Matt, Thank you for explaining why you don't talk about Poison Adrena's..... I use my 6'10" Poison for Keitech jigs or finesse jigs in general. Love that rod
What reel would you pair with that collapsing rod, I’m ordering the rod tonight and was wondering what it would be best matched with. Bfs reel maybe for just a smaller reel like a mgl 70? Thanks in advance.
Like you said when I was a kid I would have loved that pack rod. I used to bicycle 3 miles and then hike two miles up a mountain to trout fish native brook trout with yes a crappy rod. Putting a rod in my truck tool box for years so if I got off work early I could stop and try and catch a few smallmouth on a stream on the way home.
Matt, how does the expride 6'10" medium compare to the poison adrena equivalent. Which is better? (Jerkbait rod) And is there a poison adrena equivalent for the 7'11" Expride extra heavy for punching?Again, which is better?
Great ICAST videos, thank you!! Just curious, because you mentioned the Tatula BFS rod, but how do you guys feel about the 2 new Tatula BFS reels? Thanks!
I have been wanting a really nice spinning rod… just ordered the Shimano Poison Adrenal… 6’10” … hope it’s all you said… can’t wait to get it… thanks for a great video… only person that doesn’t like it is my banker…😂
@tacticalbassin Since most of the Shimano rod lines have the same actions, I'd love a video where you go through the line up and say what techniques each rod are great for, good for, and okay for. Similar to the chart megabass has for Levante.. 🤷
Would like to see reviews of the Phenix BFS rods. I have Expride, Icons, Daiwa, Aldebarans… but the best rod I have for super light hair jigs is the Phenix Classic BFS rod in 7’1” and 7’4”. It’s been in the US for sale for awhile and is reasonably priced.
I've had the Daiwa Elite Flip and pitch 8:1 for about 2 years now and it's incredible. You could jack a flat tire out of 10 yard of milfoil with that thing. They can make some power fishing reels too.
I still enjoy some of the higher end shimano spinning reals of 30yrs ago, and enjoy my recent Stellas and Twin Powers, too! I find it remarkable (in a positive sense) how perfection can trickle-down into the new Vanford, Twin power. Stradic, et al. Shimano only does this because the technology for the latest edition Stella will be that much greater and worthy of admission. While I always recommend one new release Stella if you have the means for just one, it works out fantastically as you can bide your time and get into virtually a "Stella" or relatively fantastic reel with a lion share of its technology, for far cheaper -- The lastest twin power is a testament to this. It's an incredibly transparent platform Shimano has provided, but has Stella owners scratching their heads on what could possibly be in store knowing that they've trickled-down those technologies.
I’d like to see you guys review the Bates 200 swimbait reel. Priced in the mid 300’s and already has oversized handle and all machined aluminum solid body
Few yrs ago I hit put in a hole and unfortunately I had to sell my xt I wish I never did the few I kept I wish I sold one of those that reel was so great so I can’t wait to try the new one
Interested in more info on what you think on that poison adrena bfs 6’10 L. I’m heavy into bfs because of you guys. I have the expride 6’8 light and love it. Need another to add to my arsenal. Maybe next bfs video you guys could add it to the line up with details on it?
what poison adrena cast model for the texas rig/ lighter jigs? i was thinkin about the 73mh but its a regular aswell so what model would be better for that?
Damn, don't tell me the Vanfords got that much better. I just bought a C2000SHG (not available here in the US so I bought it from a Japanese retailer for an excellent, excellent, excellent price!) a month ago. I'm still very surprised there's no Vanford 1000 anymore. That's the ultralight size reel I prefer.
Yes man those ebay Japan shops are amazing prices , I just bought a new curado DC 200 out the door 180$ have bought a couple used only the last year for incredible prices also
@@hoosierrob3301 that's an excellent deal you got. I paid $205 for the c2000shg along with an extra spool of the same size and a VA Ford 1000 spool. So, for $205 (the actual price was like $206.71 or something like that, hahaha) I got the c2000shg along with 2 extra spools (in total I have 2 of the pretty shallow c2000shg spools and 1 spool for a regular 1000). I'm still very disappointed they don't offer a 1000 for the new Vanfords!

Those poison adrena with that handle would prolly be great in a kayak.. idk how many bites I’m late to and possibly lose that fish because I’m moving around just a little bit but I don’t get that sensitivity because of it
I really like my old adrena’s, so I’ll be trying the new ones. I’m sure they’ll be just as good. They do annoy me with the marketing ploy of having an open but cap and claiming it improves sensitivity. It’s styling and that’s it. Also “they” as in shimano….leaving the comment before the video ends. The new Bates hundo bfs is the highest thing on my list from icast. I was out last Sunday with the old hundo on a 6’10” 3 power rod, kayaking a river. Just being stupid with that thing. Maybe 20 yards off one bank and sending it to the other bank, under overhangs with lay downs just pin pointing targets.
I absolutely hate myself for not buying one of those new Daiwa Jittes a couple weeks ago from a big online retailer that had a 15% off the entire store sale for Independence Day 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😭 I spend a lot of time hiking and fishing while hiking, and I'm satisfied with my current traveling rod but I wanted one of these so bad. I'm a fool for not buying one
I was wondering why companies were staying smaller with the bfs the day of ffs it just didn’t make sense to me not to have a 7’4”-7’6” for those long cast
Phenix has had a 7’4” ML in the M1 series for years in addition to shorter models across the various series. They have been ahead of the American-style BFS market for some time. Finding them has been the issue. TW doesn’t regularly stock their full range of models within each series, with the ML and L powers being absent most of the time.
Thats an X guide and its intentional. It's designed to reduce wind knots. We didn't include that tidbit simply because reading a spec sheet isn't as fun as getting to know the product 😃 6 months from now. we can definitively tell you if we see significant wind knot reduction.

As a new fisherman, i still just dont fully understand all the different rods you need for each bait. Well,.i kinda understand each action gives something different and such, but like i went and bought a 40$ rod and i put my frog on there and send it hahaha.. but i know i need something alot better based on the videos i watch. Its just so much to take in and its more or less overloads my small brain 😂😂.
Well as you dive more into fishing in the coming years you are going to learn more new technique. There's different rod for crankbait different setup for jerkbait and even specific rod for specific species. While some fisherman stay with bass or whatever main game fish in their country there's lot more fun game fish. To name a few casting for barramundi, Mangrove Jack, grouper, diamond trevally, the list is endless. There's a lot more than just bass that's why you need different setup for different game
If they release all the new stuff at icast, why do they not start selling it for 6 months? By the time it comes out and it stays on “out of stock” in the tackle stores for another 3 months most of us regular guys have already moved on to something else.
@@jimt5683 not for me either, since I fish co angler alot. Even this yr I upgraded my ‘20 Metaniums for the ‘24 Steez sv tw & the ‘24 Metanium DC. I got into NRX rods years ago, so I never have to worry about upgrading those
This channel used to be my absolute favorite channel for LEARNING new techniques, and dialing in specific techniques and lures for a certain time of year. now, it’s all about buying new lures and tackle. unfortunately
I’ll take your bait. The last 2 videos have been gear review because iCast is over. Where have you been the last month when videos posted have been techniques? These guys are gems to the fishing industry.
The first guy has been around long enough to see the cycle. No doubt they are knowledgeable and give some information and can help a beginning angler. But they are phenomenal at marketing and selling. Nothing is as definitive as it's made to seem and a new vanford isn't going to catch you more fish than the one Jacob Wheeler has been using all year. Worth buying, yes, worth upgrading. No. I don't blame them, they are making a living for themselves and doing an excellent job at it. Nothing wrong with that. I'm not mad at them, but as a long time viewer I see that you need to be careful with a lot of what's in the videos, they make you feel like you need more and more and it's a neverending cycle.
Just you wait until Black Friday. Matt and Tim go over all products. Best baits, best rods and reels at different price point. What I appreciate is you see them use these in their videos, so it’s a good review of the products they use.

@@jimt5683 not for me either, since I fish co angler alot. Even this yr I upgraded my ‘20 Metaniums for the ‘24 Steez sv tw & the ‘24 Metanium DC. I got into NRX rods years ago, so I never have to worry about upgrading those

Saying Expride and bang for buck in the same sentence, how’s that Richie Rich money treating you😮😮😮😮
"Bang for the buck" means "best deal", not "cheap". We stand by our statement.
Time stamps brah don't worry it won't come out of your food stamp qouta
