"As long as you keep the knife flat" You answered my question at 8:35 in. How is the angle maintained on the elite? Manually/visually by hand. I would like to see a guide system to accurately maintain the angle as you sharpen across the length of the blade.
The Blade Grinding Attachment is meant to be used free hand, similar to how most knives are sharpened at the factory. It takes practice but its not as hard as you might think. For a guided experience, you can always use the guides on the cassette that comes on the KO2.
I think I’ll make sure I get the old blade grinder attachment before stocks run out, in case in the future I need a new one. Yeah you have included a few advancements but I prefer the open face of the mk1, once you’ve set up for sharpening the new features become irrelevant. Why fix something that wasn’t broken in the first place? I must admit I do like the new power pack.
I already have an original KO sharpener with the blet grinding attachment, but I know some people just buy the sharpener without the blade grinder. Does the new blade grinder attachment fit the old KO sharpener?
Just received mine and I like the new mechanisms for speed control, continous run, belt change and angle dial. It is easier and more comfortable to use compared to Mk1. I do have questions though. Is there a guide for maintenance? Like how to clean the soft padding in the angle guide? Do I need to clean it every time after using? What would happen if I leave too much dust on it? Second, I remember you made a video "Push vs. Pull! Best way to sharpen??? Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener" and concluded it's better to "push". Will you consider to add a switch to control the direction of the motor, so we can "push" both sides? Maybe in Mk3?
@@HJOTech if deciding between the two, the mk2 is superior in most ways. Changing belts is slightly more tedious on the mk2 but that’s about it. I have both, I like both, although the mk1 components seem to wear out fairly easily, and that has allegedly been remedied with the mk2. I can’t speak on the durability of the mk2, whereas mine is still pretty new. Stronger motor on the mk2
Looks great. Can't wait for mine to arrive. Have long enjoyed the Ken Onion with Blade Grinding Attachment and appreciate the Work Sharp attention to detail.
The no tools needed belt tens. change is a good idea....the rest well ... Are the black parts plastic n grey metal or also plastic ? Doesnt look as sturdy as the first edition...n still no backing on the platen...why?
I get a nice burr on the first side then I run it through the left side the same amount of times but I can’t seem to get a burr. Any suggestions? Thanks
@Work Sharp: Nice new tool but im missing a cheaper modell with only the Motor and the Blade Grinding attachement. I do not need the Ken Onion standard grinder.
This grinding attachment should absolutely come standard with this new model. Work sharp deliberately gouging the customers on this one. Yeah yeah you got away with adding it on the mk1, however, it’s clear that it’s a money grab on this one. Knowing good and well that nobody cares about the pull through old out of date attachment that you send with it. Bet there are a bazillion of those laying around unused in a garage near you. I’ve got two of them now. Shame on you
Very Nice Upgrade! The speed selection on this system is awesome.
Excellent! Mine came in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to unbox it
Hope you enjoy it! Let us know what you think!
Why don’t yall add some kind of riser to rest the blade on, instead of having a 0 degree reference point?
I was wondering the same thing.
Glad to see a second o ring on the drive!

Got mine. Much nicer that the previous model. Except for one, big thing. Changing belts is very difficult with old, arthritic hands.
It takes a little practice! Safety regulations made us put more plastic on there but once you build the muscle memory, it gets easier.

No the new and original versions work exclusively with each other.
Great demonstration video, thanks
I just can't wait for it, to come into any shop in Europe so I can buy it 🙂

Just finished using myn. I love it
Why should I upgrade if I got the Mk1 last year?
You dont need it . Mk1 is just fine
@2216sammy yeah, that’s the sense I’ve gotten from other review vids and chatter, but I was still curious if WorkSharp would make an argument for it.
Why do you think it’s a downgrade?
@2216sammy can you explain why you think that? I'm trying to decide between the mk1 and mk2

Do I need to unfasten a screw in order to remove the angle guide? There’s a T20 towards the motor that looks like it’s securing it.

When is this available in Germany ?
What is a “hot” knife? Re: slack position of the BGA
What grit are the belts? X-22, for example, doesn’t really tell me the grit.
What is the Bur you’re talking about?
I have the original Ken onion with blade grinding attachment, can I just buy this new blade grinding attachment to use with it? Or it won’t fit??
Why would you think they would let you save money? No, they are not interchangeable.
Will it do mower blades?
Someone explain why you need both? What’s the point of the grinding attachment when the plain tool seems to do the same thing?
I believe that you have more flexibility with the attachment allowing you to sharpen different types of blades.

@2216sammy thx for letting me know
Is this thing a hassle to use as a lefty?
It does not matter with the Blade Grinding Attachment installed but it can be awkward for left hand use when using the triangular cassette.
@@WorkSharpOutdoor Thanks or the honest reply. Maybe I could adapt to it, it is difficult to know.

Uneven bevel. May need to make multiple passes on the other side to even up the bevel

Usan las mismas medidas en las bandas de lijas que el anterior modelo ?
Yes, but they made the attachment point of the MK2 blade grinder incompatible with MK1.
Perdón si entendí bien no puedo usar las del mk2 en el mk1 es que a principios de este año compré un mk1 😅
does the blade grinding attachment fit on the original ken onion?
@@kedrickperkins331 it does not. The updated BGA is designed specifically for the Ken Onion Mk2
Of course it doesn’t! They wouldn’t be able to gouge you for more money if it was that simple and easy
I don’t get it why would you need both?
hope you sell a bunch.
What am I doing wrong? Because it's not working for me... and I know for fact it works for almost everyone 😂
Wow 😮
Personally i likè my original KO elite better
@2216sammyeasier to clean?? You blow a puff of compressed air or air in a can etc, and it’s done 🥴
