  • 1975 Harley shovelhead FX on a rigid frame, 4 speed kick start. I just picked it up so there are things to do on it but so far I would say we are off to a good start.

      If you have a good well maintained motorcycle you won’t have to watch videos to get “motivated”. If you have a piece of junk that rides like shit, and breaks down constantly, you might want to watch a few videos of how cool you’ll look to get “motivated”. All this video did for me was motivate me to comment on how ridiculous these motorcycles are.

    • @dynastychild
      @dynastychild  5 років тому

      Chance1957 absolutely. It’s more tailored now to my body but being a hard tail the range that I would take it is 4-5 hours in a day. I’ll do a video soon of some of the updates. As my mechanic would say, we’ve been making candy from horseshit. I have a special place in my heart for the Shovelhead and this engine is the same age as me, so it’s pretty cool. I take it you do quite a bit of riding yourself and from your comment, I gather you have been riding long enough to realize the best bike is the one that gets you all the way home. This bike will definitely be a better rider than it was, but it’s still art. To me at least. I think you will appreciate bud.

    open chain primary - that's a bit scary. I though chain primaries were always oiled - from the factory back then it would be dripped from the engine. Most guys would mod that and run a sealed primary with some oil in it. Plus would have some sort of chain tensioner in there - but you can't do that with it open. I don't know man - run a belt or close it back up and put a tensioner on it.

    • @dynastychild

      it really depends on what has been done to it. its definitely not a drag bike, despite the fat tire and stance. I have a stock 74, but the engine is getting an overhaul. same displacement, just maximized efficiency with a talented bike mechanic. once he's done working his magic, and i complete the break in, we shall see!

    • @dynastychild
      @dynastychild  6 років тому

      thats a very good question, but this is what happens when you take off the primary cover and dont have anything between the motor and transmission. so as the transmission gets torqued on it starts to slide up. I was under this bike a number of times pulling the transmission back and cinching it done. the solution? a plate between the motor and transmission. solid drivetrain. stay tuned when it gets finished
