I don't think they are trying to be Triumph. At least not yet and not with this model. It's a boutique brand and you're paying for that low volume exclusivity. Pity it's not a rotary though, because then you'd have the heritage and the mechanical exclusivity to match.
Maybe after this bike they’ll do more wallet friendly version. Think of Aston martin, they do the Valkyrie, hideously expensive but from that they have produced cheaper models.

Designing a sports bike engine and chassis from the ground up would bleed cash for a small company. It's a statement, something for rich collectors while Norton gets back on it's feet and the slightly less bank breaking retro bikes pay the bills... Or at least that's what they'll be hoping.
I think the lcd looks great, and the power is plenty for the streets and track. But the price is Way too high and it looks ugly AF. I'd choose a s1000rr over this any day

Norton need to follow the Triumph route and build some retro classics at a reasonable price point that look good rather than trying to compete in the supersport category.
And not the Americanised Commando either! The MIII Interstate was a wonderful design. That’d be a reasonable base for a modern retro and a real competitor to the Bonneville.

Was looking at the Norton thinking yeah lovely bit of kit that. How can the 40k price tag be justified when you could buy a panigale for less and know the bike is most likely in all honesty a better bike.
Because you already own a Panigale..... and a Superleggera, Desmosedici, MVA F4RC, Bimota Tesi, etc., etc. I saw this bike at the NEC back in December (click on my review video of the show if you're bored!), and worth every penny if you ask me. Just a pity my kidneys are only worth about £12.50.

£44k to go slower than its rivals, I don't think so. Nostalgia only goes so far. Also, there are too many Norton stickers and that wavy union flag sticker is so early century. The truth is that a BMW S1000RR would waste it at half the price, and looks more refined and contemporary. I thought my current fave bike, the MV Brutale 1000RR, was too expensive, but I'd take one over this any day. I suppose they had to get something into the market but for the new stuff, for pity's sake get a decent stylist on the job.
Personally, I think it's beautiful and I bet it's a treat to ride BUT 44k for 185bhp, an admittedly beautiful swingarm and the name is just way too much (and positioning the plate to cover the rear tyre is inexcusable!!)
Agreed, that rear hugger with plate and indicators is fuckawful. Why do so many manufacturers fit these abortions, when the plate could so easily be mounted just under the seat tail?

Seems a lot of comments are about the dash, but tbh, I think it's actually ok, nice big details you can see while riding especially for the myopic amongst us older blokes, unlike some today where you have to get binoculars to see the dash details like speed etc, etc.. while you're riding.. Nige, didn't mention what cc the bike is, but a bit of Googling, I found out it's a 1200cc, so then 185bhp umm not really setting the world alight, but then just how much power do you really want or need on todays crappy, pot holed roads in the UK, 185bhp it's going to be enough... unless you're only concern is bullshitting down at the local bike meet, my old GSX-R1000 had "only" 🤔165bhp and that was more than enough to get your collar felt. I wish Norton every success, and I quite like the bikes looks, apart from the positioning of the rear indicators and number plate, but.... £44k is lunacy in todays market, they obviously don't wish to sell too many, and the only people that can afford them are speculators and collectors, so the bikes will get squirrelled away in private collections and never ridden or seen again, which is a massive shame. They can't, they're too small. The Hinckley Triumph factory is probably 10 times the size of the Norton unit and has a global supply chain, whereas Norton will be either be hand fabricating things in house or outsourcing to small British specialists. Economy of scale and all that.

There are so many better machines on the market for way less $…. Good luck Norton!

If this bike is an average production machine when placed against Ducati, Aprilia, BMW etc., the price does not make sense. When you look back at the sales performance of the V4SS, because it was a limited run, it sold instantly, and the secondary market pricing was almost a 50% uplift. TVS has allowed a toxic back story to be created with V4SS Owners and the Norton Management Team. Instead of having the V4SS (or Gen1) bikes as flagship Norton, they choose to trash talk the bike and place owners in a very dark place. As a V4SS owner who has invested in restoring his V4SS, I believe Norton has made a significant miss-calculation in handling the V4SS issue. I used my V4Ss in this year's Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in Barcelona; it grabbed centre stage and was featured in just about every social media post. Just a quick feedback, the video needs stabilisation, OIS I believe it's called. Currently with the shakes, it's hard to watch. Great bike though.

£44'000 for this just beggars belief. Shame on you Al for not laughing hysterically as you were giving the price.
So overpriced for what you get, Norton name is still too tarnished, tft dash is low grade, mirrors are from a scooter, many better bikes in this price bracket which are more powerful and manufactured to higher specs, Norton is a name from a bygone era a bike named as such with this price tag and specs is laughable.
why build a bike that costs 44k? I fail to see the logic.
