- Introducing Auburn Infinity, a channel for classic Auburn Tigers games and videos brought into the 21st Century with modern hardware and enhanced via Artificial Intelligence.
On the 30th anniversary of one of Auburn's greatest but least-seen wins, we are proud to inaugurate Auburn Infinity by presenting the Holy Grail of AU video: the 1993 Auburn-Florida game.
On October 16, 1993, Terry Bowden’s first Auburn team shocked the nation as the lightly-regarded Tigers knocked off Steve Spurrier and his #4 ranked Florida Gators en route to a magical undefeated season. The game was untelevised, and the only recordings of it were made by primitive VHS decks in a few Jordan-Hare Stadium luxury boxes. Until now, the only available sources for this game came from high-generation copies of copies from that tiny handful of tapes.
This recording, including play-by-play audio from Jim Fyffe and color commentary by Charlie Trotman, was sourced from a tape sent out by the athletic department to a few major donors. It has been digitized on high-quality modern hardware, and then upscaled to high definition and enhanced using sophisticated Artificial Intelligence software tools. While no amount of technology could turn a 30-year-old VHS recording into a perfect digital picture (as all Auburn fans know, you can’t polish a turd), this is by far the best quality video of a critical moment in Auburn history that’s been seen since the day the game was played.
Enjoy, and War Eagle.
Great hearing Jim & Charlie again. Perfect syncing there Auburn Infinity!
Listen to those fans! What excitement. No stupid piped in music, piped in racket. Blaring garbage drowning out the fans enthusiasm! Today's game really suck to watch at the stadium. Any stadium.
Thanks for sharing! I hope there is more from this season. One of the greatest Auburn teams to play the game.
Unfortunately, only two 1993 games were broadcast live in their entirety: Florida and alabama. In both cases, the game was sent via closed circuit to the opponents' stadium and played live on their big screens for a paying audience (just imagine how disappointed they all were!). Those broadcasts were carried in the Auburn luxury booths and in some cases recorded by the booths' owners and by the athletic department. As Auburn did not have a big screen at that time, no other games received the full video treatment. As far as we know, the coaching game films and recordings made for the Auburn Football Review were the only video records to survive for the rest of that season.
I was there…21yo and life was more awesome than I realized..what an amazing day and incredible game
I was there. I was 12 but my oldest brother was a student at auburn and my dad earned his medical residency at UF. They didn’t talk much at dinner after the game, haha
16 Oct 93 was in the T3 happiest days of my life. I cried tears of joy for an hour after this game. Yeah this was amazing. 94 Auburn-UF gets more attention but we peaked & faded that season. In 93 this game gave us the momentum to have the perfect season no 1 thought was possible.
3:18:07 I was there...electric is an understatement..
This is outstanding. Matching it up to the play by play of Jim Fyffe in one of the greatest games in sec history is outstanding
The 1st football game I ever attended
Wow, that's quite a 1st game. It's hard to follow that up.
This was 1 of the top 3-5 days of my life. I cried tears of joy for an hour after we won. This is the best win I ever witnessed in person. My mom blessed with season that year as a birthday present, the only year I ever had them. I don't know if there were any better years than 93 to have them.
Great win for the tigers. I've always been curious about the 93 season. If they weren't on probation could they have beaten Florida again in the SEC championship and how they would've performed against Nebraska. With Florida State having that one loss to Notre Dame would've put Auburn at number 2 in the nation after the SEC championship if they could've pulled off another win against Florida. Of course you have to take the dirty BCS system into account as well. It was well known for giving Auburn the shit end of the stick
Number 24 for Auburn is Dell Mcgee. He played cornerback.
Great job and thank you for doing this! I was at this game and never thought I'd ever see anything but highlights. Great to hear Jim again as well, RIP. Touchdown Auburn still gives me chills and great childhood memories. Is it too much to ask to do the 93 Iron Bowl too?! :)
This is GREAT being able to listen to the Auburn network while watching the game. I still remember where i was during the pick6
