I hope you can come back here in Dipolog City Zamboanga del Norte
There's so many hidden gems in the Philippines that are not so called tourist destinations. I really like that type of city life much more so than a big populated city.
yes true
My wife is from Dipolog, ive been there 3 times since 2013. just spent 3 weeks with my wife and our girls and her family. Great place, friendly people. its built up alot in just the last 5 years. new malls, gated housing developments, etc.
Hi Gio I am a big fan. I am an American living in Dipolog for 12 years. Married to a Filipina. Life is very good here.
Please contact me and let me know before you come back to Dipolog? Maybe I can help you. I am working with the Mayor and Governor of the province to have Dipolog cater to foreign retirees to make their retirements easier via NGO for now. Then if successful after three years they have agreed to make it part of city hall. My goal is to have Dipolog someday to be known as the retirement foreign Capitol in the Philippines- seriously As you know our needs are much different than the filipino’s needs. Thank you for highlighting Dipolog. Be safe.
Thomas you seem like the right guy to speak to about places to go, things to do in Dipolog. How can I contact you? I plan on visiting Phil this coming November. -Sam
That would be amazing. I'll be back soon.
Hi Thomas, my parents are about to transfer and live in dipolog, my dad is an american but not yet a filipino citizen, may I ask where do you get your visa extensions for your stay ?
@@lolitamonsood6852 The Ozamiz Bureau of Immigration do a Friday session in Dipolog. It used to be at the Registry Office, located above those coffee shops featured in the video, recently moved to City Hall, at the back of the Museum. Visa extensions are only for 2 months; but you can now avail more at one application. There used to be quite a lot of foreigners applying, when it was 2 months only, now I see fewer, when I go 6 monthly. It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to get your passport returned. Once they have your phone number, get reminders, and an early notice if the office is closed, eg for a public holiday. After the first extension, you are issued with a Alien Certificate of Registration Card (additional cost) accepted at hotels, airlines, and by the Provincial Border Guards. COVID Vaccine cards are required to go out. Never had mine checked in Dipolog! It was asked for at Dipolog airport check-in, and at Centrio Mall, in Cagayan de Oro. I got my 2 doses, a booster, and cards, free here in Dipolog. Need to get them stamped on the back, add your photo and get them laminated yourself. Pfizer and Moderna usually available, along with Sinovac. Tip, when you have cards, photo them in phone, that is also acceptable.
How is Dipolog different from Iloilo?.
My wife is from there, but for some reason wanted to live in Dumaguette, I’m not that sure about Dumagete, 15 years ago it was good but now it’s not the same, we may be coming back to Dipolog😊
Ya I was going to DGTE 20 years ago up until about 2010 and just the vibe I get talking to the hoards of foreigners online that flocked there, I think it's really gone down in the sense of where I'd want to live. funny how being a foreigner myself I steer clear of them as much as possible.
I am glad that some people are using their brains, you don't need face mask out in the open with fresh air, especially rain cleared air. Good job people of Dipolog.
There has been over 100 double blind peer reviewed studies on masks since the pandemic
All concluded they don't stop viral transmission
Wow! Can't wait to visit!! Love how long the boardwalk is, great place to run every day!
Thank you sir for sharing my hometown Dipolog. It's safe, clean, no traffic and very friendly people. I think it is one of the longest boulevard in mindanao. God bless your tour sir.. New subs here..
Yes, you are right
Is it safe for white guys like me
It's safe there during the day time, don't go out on the edge of town at night.
@@jw-vx8im i feel very safe
This is my dad's province. Some of my relatives still live there. I remember going there back in the 90's and it was soooo different. They didn't even have Jollibee over there. It seems like it modernized for the last 20 years. People over there are generally nice and friendly. I played ball there and the locals were initially trippin on me, then my cousin came and the athmosphere changed! Bam!
Hey Gio my dear friend, Dipolog is beautiful. I really love the long boardwalk. The hotel looks very nice and clean. I will definitely try to visit Dipolog city. And it looks so peaceful there. I still can't get over how long that boardwalk is. and now that i am back in the philippines, i know for sure, that this will be my permanent home. Dipolog City, looks so relaxed. Definitely this is a very laid back place. and the low cost of living is very cool as well. i'll bet your legs are so tired from climbing 3,003 steps Gio. I think that i will try it when i visit Dipolog City. Its so clean, and it does have trash cans. Wow, you definitely don't see trash cans very often. you know Gio, there is something that is so magical about the Philippines. I will still say, it's the people. I love those coconut trees on the boardwalk. A rainy day in the Philippines, is better than a sunny day in america. Thank you Gio my dear friend for sharing this awesome video. Please stay safe and healthy. And God bless you and your beautiful fiancee always.
Nice place,so clean, and garbage cans that I have never seen anywhere else in the Philippines. I certainly would like to visit there
You should!
Nice walk and talk Gio. My choice if I were to rent there is Lapu-Lapu in Mactan Island, as I enjoy the beach and the new condos that you were renting in Mactan-Newtown. Enjoy the rest of your journey!
There is a city 21 KM south of Bacolod City in Negros that has similar view of Dipolog but lots of trees and tiled pavement. More than 1 KM stretch. Its on the side of the river. The Bago city blvd. You will see that if you pass by a western route from Dumaguete on your way to Bacolod City.
New subscriber here! Thank you for featuring my city, Dipolog. I just got married to my American husband and he will be living permanently here soon. He loved our town, La Libertad, an hour away from Dipolog City. God speed.
My fiance lives there. Loves the Boulevard for walking exercise. We will be moving to Mactan Newtown hopefully in June.
If you enjoy lots of garbage and traffic you're coming to the place.
Never been there Gio I'm impressed as you are ,will visit Dipolog when I'm next in PI thanks for video .
thanks for sharing the views of dipolog gio atleast even i cannot go there thru ur bloggs and videos its enough for me , be safe and see in ur next videos
Too put it mildly that is a very quiet town. Most of the locals are working on ways to get Out
Hello, Jonathan. Yes, you are right and that is the other perspective on it. But the population being mainly youth category fueled and driven, for more than average will not shrink on numbers as a whole. Indeed, the search for better life conditions through increased income sources, makes many up 20-21 of age locals seek and find money-gains work grounds elsewhere. Immense numbers of OFW's, especially women and among men in global shippery and construction-or factory jobs, find their stayings elsewhere to be able to earn for families.
That is my hometown 😍❤️
I missed it my last vacation was 2020 when the pandemic started in China.. everrytime me and my husband going back in the Phils Dipolog we had our jogg every morning in boulevard from the starting at st. Krus to the bridge... A lot wester people live in dipolog. Some married to a local and do farming...
Just watched your vlog and it reminds me of Dumaguete but less commercialised. Just got back to U.K. and stayed Manila, Panglao, Mactan Newtown, Cebu, Dumaguete, Tagum and Davao. Dumaguete was my favourite although we had a bad experience with Air BnB’s.
It seems the standard of Air BNB’s have dropped since pre-pandemic it seems general maintenance has been neglected.
Good job sir!
And thank you
Been there many times since I was a child. Its my mothers hometown. I cant believe Dipolog is now becoming known on the internet. Back then many didn't know about this place. My parents used to have a beach house right at that boulevard in the early 90s. It was all beach back then there was no boulevard. Life back then was simpler and have more nature.
Great vid again, thanks Gio !!
Hey Gio, great Video. My wife is from Dipolog and in a few weeks, we are traveling back there from our home in Australia. I really enjoyed my time there the last time and cant wait to get back there again in a few weeks.
Thanks for showing this. It was not an area I would have considered before.
When I read Dipolog, i immediately watch this vlog, because Im curious about that city. Im pinoy but not a traveler. I think Dipolog is a spanish city down there in Zamboanga. Im in Germany but realization tells me Its more fun in the Philippines.
Fantastic Beach Boardwalk, I always wondered how safe Dipolog was being so far west in Mindanao. Cool looking city, thanks for the tour.
Sir it is very safe. Actually, we have almost 0% crime rates in our city. Dipolog is one of the most beautiful and safe city in mindanao.
Dipolog my hometown.. the major peoples is Christian if there is muslim it can count only and they are good they doing business. Mostly local chinese, taiwanese, local spanish runs the big businesses like shopping malls, chinese runs hardwares businesses, Spanish run's constraction businesses.. local filipino run's foods businesses and groceries...
Check out Dapitan it also has a boardwalk and restaurants etc. we went there on our way to Dakak resorts. Another place you might want to visit. We were there couple weeks ago.
Pls Visit my Place, Oroquieta City Province of Misamis Occidental Its More Fun in Philippines
I lived in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan Province, Luzon for a while. Close to 5 years. And, here in nearby Urdaneta City for the past year
Rent for 2 room apartments with 2 bathrooms are in the ₱6,000 per month range.
Urdaneta City is up and coming. They have a massive buy and sell market. 3 huge Malls. All the fast food restaurants. Even a brand new dominos pizza.
Thanks Gio for this infomative video. Please think about shooting a few more videos that discusses food costs (not restaurants), rental properties. Thanks again
Thanks for the videos Gio they are so inspiring
Beautiful City don’t think I’ve seen it before nice video 👍
Nice video. 📹 I might check out Dipolog this Year! 2023
You should!
will check it out soon - thanks Gio
Thank you for showing this City, the lack of expats makes it very appealing to me
Exactly my thoughts
@@olijfcadiz4231 better than living in an echochamber of tourists and expats
After this video there will be a ton now 😂
The surplus of Abu Sayaff though.
There"s a lot of expats in Dipolog but not as many as those of Palawan and other tourist areas. There was kidnapping incident too of an Italian Coffee Shop owner decades ago but never heard of another incident.
I was born in Dipolog and so blessed that it is my city..our house is just a walking distance to the boulevard..we used to swim there during our elementary and high school days and I am looking forward to go home this Christmas..
Thank you for visiting our place..I am proud to be a Dipolognon..
Wow nice
Thank you showing around my place.I miss it.I really appreciated you like my place.
So nice of you
My wife’s from there Gio, wait until the weekend and closer to the evening/night when more vendors come out. You should check out Zaragoza factory there, try the hot sardines!!! Also Grandma’s Bakery. Dakak Resort by Dapitan.
Nice video gio thanks take care 🙂
Thanks man , you got me interested in visiting this city
Thanks Gio!
Yeah , finally you already been at dipolog city... Its been a few months since i subscribed you're other videos in other places.
my hometown Sir. thank you for showing my town. I'm going to visit in December to visit my parents they used to live in Chicago and they decided to retire home. I'm excited seeing your video, I'm excited and also nervous.I haven't been home for 28 yrs.
Long time
Great kind of info retirees love
I used to own a beach property not too far from there in Dilipuga on the National HW 1600 sqm on Iligan Bay
Thanks for the walk and talk Gio, I always love seeing new places. It fascinates me how the different towns and cities, have different style / size trikes. Is the city big and busy or not ?
Great day! Actually, i noticed it too. There are so many shapes, sizes and styles of trycycles in the Phil. that it could be made into a content for a coffee book..
Great Video Gio, are bicycles allowed on the Boardwalk
WE ARE PLANNING TO RETIRE IN DIPOLOG ONE DAY. THANKS FOR AWESOME VIDEO
All the best
Thanks Gio, looks like a peaceful quiet boardwalk, take a long powerwalk, enjoy coffee shops, restaurants & sunset . Central location for ferry to DUMAGUETE, BOHOL, CEBU, LEYTE🏝🏖🕶👍
Good video 😊
WOW! Very nice place indeed! Your room too is fantastic & cheap! What a discovery!
It really is!
omg! my hometown. haven't been home for 2 years now and I'm missing the Dipolog boulevard. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My wife is from Pinan and her brother is in Roxas love the area. Can't wait till we get back home.
I was there for two weeks. I had a great time. I got a hotel room for $13.00 dollars a day. That is all you need. The food was delicious and always fresh.
Totally agree!
seems like a nice place for fishing with all that space
Looks like a nice place to use as a base for island-hopping. Thanks for this informative video! And they speak my dialect, 3+ hrs from Dumaguete (my birthplace)
Love it when you travel like this👍
Thanks for the tip of carrying a water bottle or cup of coffee and not having to wear a mask while one walks.
Wow what a very nice place..how i wish to visit there one day
Awesome video Salamat
I’m here in Dipolog right now..been here 6 days now and I’m bored to tears. Nothing to do here. I would never retire in this city. Unless I wanted to die of boredom.
I agree with you about Dipolog. I met my ex there at the cute airport and stayed at Top Plaza back in 2007. Is it still there? A lot of good memories in Dipolog, especially the boulevard. I know it’s changed a lot since then. Enjoyed your video.
Come Again in Dipolog City..a nice place to visit.. to leave ❤️
I really like your vlog, and now that you're starting to tour the Philippines it's more interesting. But I wish you'd stay like the temperature conditions there is an equivalent to baggio or more like Manila there
Valencia, Bukidnon region is very nice and cooler weather.
Osmeña and Mutia are higher altitude municipalities an hour away drive from Dipolog. A great weekend low temperature destinations.
I thought that this was not a safe area, thanks for the heads up.
Gio man, you always deliver when it comes to your recommendations. Did you say that you were going to leave the Philippines?
Pretty soon yes.
hello new friend here.. thank u share about dipolog coz i miss dipolog very pretty place..
I was in Dipolog back in 2007, and was on a mining expedition from San Francisco looking at some of the best alloy ores on earth and went into the deep jungles with an armed entrouge of - I was warned it's not safe for the white guy, but had a great experience exploring very remote areas. We based at a resort/congressman's private oasis that was absolutely paradise - wish I could remember where it was - couple hours by car from Dipolog.
Yes, I agree, Dipolog has a long boulevard by the sea and beach to walk by, Manila bay walk like.
That base you were at is called Dapitan city. Not a few hours away but more like a few minutes away.
Great walking area, you got a workout, what's rental availability in Dipolog and at what cost, looks like a really chill spot to retire.....
Looks like a wonderful place to raise a family
Gio, when you are in negros oriental going to Bacolod, try stopping by at manjuyod sand bar, the Maldives in visayas.
Bacolod is Negroes Occidental
Odette ripped through that area, north and west from Bais, in December. It's a mess last time I heard.
Very nice Gio. Boardwalk and mini coconut trees, foliage all real nice. How about the central area..?? Parks, restaurants…??? Waterfalls outside of town..??? Anyway enjoy the road trip…!!!!
there's a lot of restaurants, falls, swimming falls, eco tourism park, beaches and many more outside of town. like albenda,,osmeña,polanco, sindangan, even in all municipality covered of province of zamboanga del norte..and.try to inquiry at tourist hub along dipolog boulivard.
Awesome thanks
great info thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Will visit there in July too mate, salamat Aussie Mark living in the Philippines
New subscriber here..!😍 I'm from dipolog
Thanks for subbing and I love your city :-)
Wow lot's of lovely ladies, bench seats galore on that long boulavard and just one foreigner you saw today Gio ! sounds promissing , you mention beaches and waterfalls , will you do a walk pass or maybe put ya swimming trunks on ?! and coffee's better than that American chain ! Dipolog here I come !
Yeah I'm from dipolog city
Thanks for the video Gio. I may check this place out. I spent two and a half yrs living in Cebu during the Pandemic and I just returned here from the US yesterday. I'm looking for a place that's both quiet and safe. I'll do some research on Dipolog. I do see they have an airport there. Could one fly from Cebu perhaps? I'm not sure about a hospital. It is a little close to Marawi City which is a place you want to stay out of for safety reasons.
There are regular flights to Dipolog from Cebu. ACE Medical Center, a tertiary hospital is opening soon. Marawi is too far from Dipolog around 232 kms.
I am in Dipolog now the closest Bi office is in Dumaguete or Ozmis I came to Dipolog on March 12 I am on my to leave Dipolog
wow, that's a pain to travel everytime for visa extension
City hall has immigration in Dipolog. Go on a Fri. Get your passport back the following Fri. For extensions .
I was there today Tony.
That boardwalk looks really nice. I can almost see Casey neistat riding a one wheel vlogging on it
hi sir nice to see here place I'm from dipolog city..nice boulevard
At 26:08, I hear the first rooster in the video. Amazing it took this long.
My wife watched part of this one with me, and it brought a few tears to her eyes shes missing the place so badly. If you keep going a few kilometers past the bridge, you come to the ferry terminal in Diplog itself that I think runs once per day arriving before lunch.
The main porpose of that bay walked is to protect the city in time of high tide and typoon.
Plus for people recreation
Thank you for showing my place. That’s my residence. My house just somewhere near that boulevard. I was gone for many years already. I really missed that place. Did you visit Dakak? It’s also a beautiful place.
Very cool! Dakak on my next visit!
That is my place, thank you for showing our place
Welcome Yam
I am filipina, I'm a small vlogger and I live in dipolog city, I live near the boulevard behind the coffee shop thanks for sharing, I hope to meet you soon in person 😊
Oh I was at that coffee shop often
Hi,,yes that's my hometown, i was just there 2 weeks ago,.i agree with you very clean place, not a lot of traffic, friendly people. There are lots of beautiful places you haven't seen yet, which amazes me when i first went and saw it for the first time. Someday i'll retire there, which is already in process my choosen retirement place..Mabuhay👍 God Bless
I'll be back soon
I cannot believe how clean is Dipolog: I'm impressed ❤
Hey Gio, neeksay on the beautiful girlsay. Someone might be watching. LOL
Looks like the perfect place that I could have a bicycle and ride around. And the cleanliness of the boardwalk. Somewhere I definitely need to check out. Thanks for the great video..
Live here with my wife, she is a local. Only been here for a month but I love it.
Nice walking along the boulevard with you, Gio; I wish I could see more than that, the countryside, the cafes, the food, the people. Looks clean and friendly. I've been writing to a woman in Zamboanga City for a couple of years; is it safe to go and hang out there?
Apparently not per Embassy warnings, but as Clint Eastwood would say "It depends. How lucky do you feel ?" . Just keep a low profile and stay where there are people and good lighting. It's a lot easier for Pinoys to rob or kill foreigners who are rude and loud. Seen it many times. It seems to always be the assholes that get mugged or worse.
No! Dipolog is safer for foreigners
Your embassy will tell you not to go to Zamboanga City, but as a native of the place for over 60 years, i can tell you, its safe here, as long as you don't venture into the fringes that even the locals avoid..
i saw you there..charot joke ra😂 nice jud ang dipolog..thnx sa pag explore

Hello sir Gio Since been a long years im not yet going home in my hometown Dipolog city it almost 5 years from now i missed that kind of place. Hopefully soon i can visit there again. Just only for vacation. All the people there are so very friendly. 😍😍😍😍😍
Very friendly yes 🙂
Gio I think you hit the Nail on the Head when you said Trash Bins and Benches ,guess they had them for a long time so people started using them, and it shows by how clean everywhere is .They must employ people to empty them top marks to the Mayor of Dipolog
1000 pesos penalty if caught loitering
You're close to Zamboanga City. I hope you can visit and do a vlog content there.
Hey Gio, great video. What do you think of Zamboanga City ?
Not a place for a foreigner to go but beautiful women from there.
It's probably too quite for me and I am a 74 year old retiree. Add to that the real risk of terrorists who can at any time appear ...the very reason hundreds of foreigners left this city before!! Nice to visit for a day or two I suppose despite rather expensive $40 per night older small hotel room price. I'll stay in Jomtien, Thailand for the time being. It's also quiet, has a great boardwalk white sand beach plenty of cafes, eateries and bars and zillions of girls on the hunt .
@@olijfcadiz4231 Cool, never heard of it. Would you recommend this city for male 30s retirees looking to fun and adventure?
The Italian ex priest who owned the pizza place was kidnapped there in 2015.
@@olijfcadiz4231 really? Why?
@@joenewontheblock2404 Dipolog is sandwiched between Moro Areas, 1 day travel by truck, anytime , if some friction will happen, a terrorist attack is entirely possible. But that did not happen except for few kidnappings. Yes, kidnappings can still reach Dipolog and the adjacent city of Dapitan but a full scale attack is not yet. The nearest they got is the attack on Sibugay Capital, adjacent province, and Siocon. The towns were razed includig public building and banks, markets and hospitals.
