Some absolute shockers in this list; Carpenter at 94, some weird choices really high and not a single person out of my top 10 is in their top 100! I've picked my top 10, who I think objectively has the best voice from those I've heard, regardless of songs sung or style. Personally my favourite to listen to are Glen Campbell and the Beach Boys but this would be the top 10 voices (I've left what I think the best example is for anyone on the list who someone might be unfamiliar with): 10. Charlie Rich - See 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World' 9. Tom Chaplin - See 'Quicksand' or Keane 8. Nat King Cole - See 'When I Fall In Love' 7. Barry White - See 'Let The Music Play' 6. Luciano Pavarotti - See 'Ave Maria (Charles Gounod)' 5. Allan Jones - See 'You Are Love' with Irene Dunne or 'Alone' with Kitty Carlisle 4. Demis Roussos - See 'To Gelekaki with Nana Mouskouri', not one of his songs by a mile but shows his voice very well. 3. Jose Carreras - See 'Tristesse' 2. Roy Orbison - See 'In Dreams (With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra)' 1. Matt Monro - See 'Medley: Portrait of my Love / Walk Away / Born Free' Very close honourable mentions would be Whitney Houston, Smokey Robinson, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Phil Collins, Karen Carpenter, Vic Damone, Johnny Moore (Drifters), Levi Stubbs (Four Tops), Andy Williams, Sam Cooke, Steve Wonder and Frank Sinatra, who also agrees Matt Monro is the best vocalist! (So I'm not crazy 😆) Interestingly, Elvis thought Roy Orbison was, so the biggest names in their respective fields, Elvis and Sinatra, rated those two as being at the top.
In terms of voice alone Freddie Mercury is superior for me atleast Tone:Best Range:A Consistency(live) 70s : A- Consistency(live) 80s: A Consistency(studio no live performance but some demo songs are nearly the same if not better than the original release) probably the best Pure Voice alone:Best Best voice in my opinion even if he's not the best at consistency and range (even though F2-F#6 is a huge range)

@@muhammad608 LOL.
Freddie mercury is the god of music . Queen forever ❤️
Billy Joel has the 6th top record sales of all time and he’s not even on the list?!? For shame Rolling Stone, for shame.
I’m not really a big fan of Freddie but 18 are you out of your mind, behind Mick Jagger wtf. And this probably will be bias as Oasis are my favourite band but bias aside how is Liam Gallagher not there when the likes of Bono are. His voice in the 90s was, for me, the greatest thing I’ve ever witnessed simply untouchable
Mariah Carey absolutely deserves to be higher
Nina Simone too low. Where are D'Angelo, Lauryn Hill and Frank Ocean?
It was made 2010. So ofc Frank ocean isnt on it
Wanye Kest my bad, thought this was his personal list
@@steveoram3031 oh excuse, if this was a personal list it wouldn´t be thhis garbage, this is the rolling stone, they need to make shitty lists, it´s their job
It's on my recommended and the video has been uploaded for like 4 minutes
Can someone tell me why the list started trending again?
1. Jeff Buckley
you can fill out the next 99
Sure, 'cause Elvis was a golf player
Tiago Libanio that’s cute
@@josephwright4222 don't make me Laugh , so tell me why they call Elvis The King and nobody gives a flip about the Singer that you named?
Tiago Libanio don’t need to make you laugh, you’ve already got all the jokes.
@@josephwright4222 hahahaaha i am sorry i admit that Jeff Buckley ( that nobody knows) is better than than the most iconic singer in the history Elvis Presley
I'd suggest you change the title of this video to "Rolling Stone's Random List of Singers Who They Call The Greatest Of All Time". Because it really can't be taken too seriously. Any list of greatest singers that excludes Sinatra, Streisand, Garland and Billie Holiday just comes across as silly.
This list is from rolling stone not from the yt
@@Farizz150 I'm familiar with RS's controversial lists, so I'm surprised I misunderstood what the content creator meant, especially since it's immediately clear from watching the video that it's not a personal list. It's very unusual for me to comment on a video based solely on its title, but apparently that's what I did here. Thanks for pointing out my error.
@@Farizz150 Also, now that I know, I'm going to alter my original comment accordingly....criticizing RS mag instead. :)
At least Buckley is included
Great singer 😊
he deserves to be no. 1
No one will ever be like him 🥺💔
Where is Cardi B, Selena Gomez, Gabbie Hanna, Dixie D'Amelio, Addison Rae, Jojo Siwa, Bhad Babie, Lil Pump, Lil Xan, 6ix9ine, Lele Pons?
This list is from 2010 idiot
6ix9ine LOL
WHITNEY THE VOICE HOUSTON
Michael Jackson is top 7
Sinatra?
did he really put Michael Jackson on #25 ?..... wow.
No Chris Cornell or Layne Staley :(
These are my top 10 vocalist of all time
10.Chester Bennington
9.Corey Taylor
8.John Lennon
7.Jim Morrison
6.Jonathan Davison
5.Freddie mercury
4.Johnny cash
3.Elton John
2.kurt cobain
1.Michael Jackson
I can tell you probably listen to a lot of nu metal.
Chester’s in my Top 5.
Karen Carpenter should have been top 20
Why is Aretya Franklin higher on this list than Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson?
This list was so biased, like Karen Carpenter is one of the best female singers of all time, like I love John Lennon but he’s not a better singer than Paul, Prince, Freddie, And Robert plant should be top 10, maybe even top 5, and where TF is Tom Petty like wtf
No Robin or Barry Gibb??
Worst list ive ever seen how do you put Witney and mj out of the top 10 🤣 and Freddie at 18th is an insult
THEY PUT MICK JAGGER OVER FREDDIE MERCURY
heres how it goes
#3 Elvis Presley
#2 Michael Jackson
#1 Freddie Mercury
No
@@nomadic1932 yes
They definitely aren't the top three singers if we're talking actual vocal ability. If it was based on influence, you be on the right track
@@kendallcadence2163 If you're talking about actual voice ability Merle Haggard should be #1.
@@tommysmith5135true..and sadly like George Jones he was exclusively real country music outside the popular mainstream. But I hear you..Merle Haggard one of my favorites ..and.what a songwriter to go with that voice!
How is Andrea Bocelli and all of the 3 Tenors missing?
I guess Layne Stailey, Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder dont exist...
lmao , kurt had a worse voice than all of them aswell
Do me a favour band this video Michael Jackson is the best Singer of all time.
Not really the best singer but truly the best performer.
He is not
He never been best singer
Imagine putting Freddie mercury at 18 and not 1 🤦♂️
Danny crennell I was thinking the exact same thing.
That's because Freddy Mercury's overrated
@@k0n158 no hes not
If you understand the meaning of overrated, and take that knowledge to look at Freddy Mercury's fanbase, along with the some of the mediocre songs they made, you would find that overrated would indeed be an ideal word to describe him.
@@k0n158 yeah but bohemian rhapsody, we are the champions, somebody to love definitely arnt mediocre
Freddie mercury has to be in the top ten.

I was honestly waiting so long for people like Edite Piaf or Amy Winehouse, Frank Ocean or hell even Ariana Grande who sings way better than someone like Bob Dylan.
This list was made in 2010 so it explain why there's no modern singer here. There's an updated list in 2020 I believe and it include 3 singer that you saidm
Who are these people ?
What people?
No Billie Holiday??
freddie?18?I hope you are joking
Hey, wait a minute...
How come a person place Michael Jackson on no. 25 ???
Michael Jackson deserved No. 1 position
I ask the same thing
how is Karen only #94
Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Freddie Mercury and Mariah Carey should be way higher
What were the factors they used to determine this list? It doesn't feel like the next singer is better than the last more than semi-arbitrary placement, at least to me.
No Don McLean? Freddie is ONLY 18TH? WHAT IS THIS LIST?
how is freddie not number 1?
Some absolute shockers in this list; Carpenter at 94, some weird choices really high and not a single person out of my top 10 is in their top 100! I've picked my top 10, who I think objectively has the best voice from those I've heard, regardless of songs sung or style. Personally my favourite to listen to are Glen Campbell and the Beach Boys but this would be the top 10 voices (I've left what I think the best example is for anyone on the list who someone might be unfamiliar with):
10. Charlie Rich - See 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World'
9. Tom Chaplin - See 'Quicksand' or Keane
8. Nat King Cole - See 'When I Fall In Love'
7. Barry White - See 'Let The Music Play'
6. Luciano Pavarotti - See 'Ave Maria (Charles Gounod)'
5. Allan Jones - See 'You Are Love' with Irene Dunne or 'Alone' with Kitty Carlisle
4. Demis Roussos - See 'To Gelekaki with Nana Mouskouri', not one of his songs by a mile but shows his voice very well.
3. Jose Carreras - See 'Tristesse'
2. Roy Orbison - See 'In Dreams (With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra)'
1. Matt Monro - See 'Medley: Portrait of my Love / Walk Away / Born Free'
Very close honourable mentions would be Whitney Houston, Smokey Robinson, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Phil Collins, Karen Carpenter, Vic Damone, Johnny Moore (Drifters), Levi Stubbs (Four Tops), Andy Williams, Sam Cooke, Steve Wonder and Frank Sinatra, who also agrees Matt Monro is the best vocalist! (So I'm not crazy 😆) Interestingly, Elvis thought Roy Orbison was, so the biggest names in their respective fields, Elvis and Sinatra, rated those two as being at the top.
Not a bad list but you could've put Liam Gallagher in there. Go and listen to Live Forever by Oasis and you'll know what I mean
Agreed
In terms of voice alone Freddie Mercury is superior for me atleast
Tone:Best
Range:A
Consistency(live) 70s : A-
Consistency(live) 80s: A
Consistency(studio no live performance but some demo songs are nearly the same if not better than the original release) probably the best
Pure Voice alone:Best
Best voice in my opinion even if he's not the best at consistency and range (even though F2-F#6 is a huge range)
MJ is the better artist and as good an artist
Imagine putting Freddie Fucking Mercury at 18 & not no 1 :)
