Yes, thank you Boomers for these gifts ✨🙄 (at least in my family thats true as well. And probably they learned it from the silent generation (especially here in Germany), the motto was as war children: discipline, surviving, no emotions allowed; and its true, especially my grandparents were always super neglectful when it comes to certain emotions (sadness or other difficult emotions; they chose to live in a rainbow lala-land, not wanting to deal with other peoples pain, abuse, mental illness in the family...and became enablers in that way) --> silent generation is/was even worse in that regard than Boomers/early Gen X imo
Thats why I want to heal before I consider having children. Me as a Scapegoat having cptsd and being 34 yo already, that might not happen, but its ok, I dont want to hand down even 10% of what I had to go through in my family to an innocent child. I hope I can heal though

Same thoughts. I’m glad you’re awake to the trauma and not wanting to pass it down. I wish no children were born to unconscious & unhealed parents

Well do you think our parents taught us to address problems? You had it better than we, believe me!

Trust me as a boomer we had lots to deal with back in our youth. Racism, bullying and afraid to talk up on issues for fear of being ostracised. The norm then, isn’t the norm now.

@ that’s so so helpful to know. I’m so sorry you have suffered too. No one deserves this.
You’re amazing. I watch you daily and incorporate your exercises into my daily life now.
I have walked away from countless people who weren’t safe for me and It’s so lonely being the family scapegoat and setting boundaries finally to be rejected and scapegoated again and again.
This is so hard, healing, but it’s productive and peaceful trying to care for my body.. it is so hard.
It’s been 4 years no contact now away from my ill mother whom I was highly enmeshed with and didn’t know it at 44 😢❤️‍🩹 Thank you for all your lifesaving work 🙏

The Boomer hate is strong here. As a suffering Boomer, this hurts. Even we have feelings.

We have content on different experiences with trauma and our content is curated by our audiences questions. We have had multiple inquiries on generational trauma and specifically boomers.

@theworkoutwitch "if you were eaised by boomers, their norm was sweeping emotions under the rug" . That is a sweeping hurtful accusation about an entire generation, and something I never, ever did with my chikdren, nor did my silent gen mom do with me. Words can hurt

It’s not from the war. It’s from how people in those cultures had been raising their kids for generations. After all, there’s a reason WWII (& WWI, & others) even happened in the first place, and that reason was the widespread childhood trauma that was the destructive norm in those societies

Because they got to buy a house, raise a family and retire comfortably . many boomers own several houses now and have become the very thing they rallied against when they were young hippies

They’re not, they’re just repressing the unpleasant stuff therefore living in la-la land and not dealing with reality. That’s why they’re destructive to other people

They’re not happy, they’re just repressing and avoiding anything unpleasant, thus living in denial instead of the reality.
