there is a youtube channel called kk create and their latest video showed a tribal village in Jharkhand showing how uranium mining and its waste disposal has affected people of the village. It made me wonder why this issue is not on national news channels a whole village is suffering from radiation poisoning and they're transporting radioactive materials on old lorries with zero protection and this is not news. what you said gave me the answer to my question. because they're lives are inconsequential to the masses and so the public doesn't give a fk so neither does the media and media these days are just a clown circus that distracts you while your house is getting robbed.

Yes, i noticed this channel and it has some quality content but clearly it's not pushed forward into the algorithm. Even if it did a lot of people doesn't care, which is upsetting but that's the reality nowadays. We call the wrong people "Influencers". And that overshadows quality content and people who actually deserves to be called "Influencers". And clearly our media cares about everything except things that are important. The moment something goes viral the media jumps on that train. Whereas when there is something that actually requires media coverage, well they are nowhere to be seen. They are more focused on catering to what gains attention and views easily. Good journalism is becoming rare.

I think Social media just exponentially elevated the quantity of such contents that even the mainstream media has started to think like a normal content creator.
If Mainstream media has to survive for next 20 years they will have to cater to Genz and Gen alpha and whoever comes next. I think that's what mainstream media are doing now.
We see random cringe reels getting millions of views and at the same time good informative content and good talented creators getting sidelined as well.
