- In todays video, Paul from The Studio Rats is checking out the fantastic Walrus Audio Canvas Power HP.
If you are like me and are fed up with wall wort power supplies for Quad Cortex, Eventide H90, Eventide H9, TONEX then theis fantastic high power power supply might be right up your aley!

Here is what Walrus audio says about the Walrus Audio Canvas Power HP
The Canvas Power HP allows you power the thirstiest of modelers and pedals with a massive 3A (three Amp, or 3,000mA) output. The HP also has 3 isolated power outputs delivering up to 500mA of clean power at 9v. The 3A output can also switch between 9V and 12v for powering high-voltage pedals.
The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.
Im utterly happy with my Harley Benton ISO Pro 2 power brick! No noise and works just lovely up to ... 9-12-18V.
I got one of these last week. It just about fits under a tiny PedalTrain Metro board. It's about 1/16 of an inch thicker but I'm just going to glue small shims under the board feet. It's a big improvement.
Glad it’s worked out Jeff!
You my friend need to look up the Cioks DC7 and all of its extensions. It’s the daddy 👍🏽
It’s by far the best power supply. Not mentioning the size of it and how many connections you might have.
But it doesn't have a 3A output. Max for 9V outputs is 660MA.
@@RyanMcQuen technically speaking
@@RyanMcQuen yeah I think you need the $60 dollar extension if you don't want the additional daisy chain cords.
I have Cioks and I’m super happy with it.
I'll never understand Power Supplies that need their own external power supplies. And that's exactly what this is. If you're just using it to power the QC, how is it any different than using the QC's own PS?
I agree 💯. Did you find a better solution 👍🏻
It's different because this has 4 outputs. So you can power the QC and 3 other pedals from one supply. Most power power supplies don't have high enough outputs to support something like a QC, so you end up having to bring a power supply for your pedals, then a separate one for your modeller. It's a pain and this solves the problem. The outputs on this are also isolated so less noise and interference between analogue and digital pedals.
Why install another power supply to power the new power supply when you can just use the one that came with it? He was complaining about wall warts and the new unit is a box with a wall wart.
@@gregarmstrong2500 But it adds a wall wart and another device. unless you're using all those outputs it's a wash.
@@truescotsman4103 I already explained why this could be useful. Not going to type the same thing again. Just because something doesn't suit your use case, doesn't mean it's useless.
Serious bit of gear for serious players with serious setups. Lovely jubbly.
Cioks 7 with a Crux is the best thing I've found for the QC.
For the price they charge they should include a quality power supply or something that integrates into other power supplies.
The rushed unwrapping caused me & your newly dinged guitar a great deal of anxiety!
Did you just say 1 spot has a maximum of 500mah? Actually the 1 spot jacks are not limited. Those numbers are not limits, they are ratings. That’s what makes the 1spot great. The only limit is the max power of the whole unit, and you can draw any amount of milliamps from any jack within that supply limit. Check out the manual.
Nice brother, looks like a great product. Hope all is well.
What a great video have a wonderful day Paul also I am going to college in Canada where I live in ❤😊
Again, it would be nice if WA canvas included a built on IEC cable as well!
it does
The One Spot does not max out at 500mA per output. It’s the total current draw you should keep an eye on.
Wait a sec….a BLACK Quad Cortex with GOLD knobs/switches? How come nobody’s talking about this????
It’s a limited edition they sold at Andertons.
Looks a great product. I have the Truetone CS12 too and that provides up to 3000 mA too, all through a single output if needed.
Thanks for the info!
3000mA yes, through a single output no, through combined outputs yes, but you have to max out the entire CS12 for the 3000mA, making the QC wall wart look like the better option.
Walrus makes great stuff. I sold my Canvas stereo to buy an Endgame.
I'm waiting for the next video where you'll solve the problem of excessive cabling by using a 48 point patchbay. And I'd rather go for a TrueTone CS12. No external wall wart, 3000mA and a switch mode power supply so it can be used anywhere in the world.
But you'd have to use the entire CS12 for the Cortex, making it a bigger wall wart than the standard one that comes with the Cortex.
Cioks DC7 is a much better PSU for this, it's smaller than the CS12, and puts out more power, heck you can even expand it with the Crux from Cioks, and still have 7 outputs to power things with.
The DC7 has the IEC built in...no need for a 2nd part of the power supply to plug in.
and its small and it has 660mA on each outlet on 9V
But the QC requires 3A at 12v. The Cioks only does 660mA.
@@gregarmstrong2500 the QC only needs 2A 12v max. You can daisy chain 4 outlets from the DC7 with some special cables for this 👍🏽
Whats the quad cortex like for taking pedals? Im thinking of getting one in the future and have a little hybrid rig with some pedals going in front and some in the fx loop as a little pedalboard
What are the patch cables you are using in this one - they look interesting for an at home setup
Is the link in the description an affiliate? Did you just make a commercial with disclosing it as such?
It is an affiliate link, I create a video which costs you nothing to view, and you you have a problem with an affiliate link😳
This defeats the purpose of changing power supplies as the transformer is still external and still has to lay on the floor. If you do integrate it on the board you risk noise interference and lose a heap of space to mount both the transformer and the canvas unit. Again as others have mentioned the Cioks DC7 solves all of this with the IEC built in and is designed with low noise to be directly mounted. Same price as the walrus. I know which one I would buy. But I'll just stick with my FM3 and avoid all of this all together :).
All good if the Canvas isn't for you, but the brick is totally fine to mount under your board and does not have noise interference like you stated above. 🙂
“Paul throws the junky power supply on to the couch, denting the 6 thousand dollar guitar”
Adds to the relic
@@TheStudioRats😂
But that PSU still needs a feckin wall wart!!
What an absolute bag of shite
it requires a IEC cable which everything does to be powered, its more the fact that you can power this and other pedals from 1 cable as opposed to the QC wall wort and a seperate power supply for any other pedals.
So you are still stuck with a wall wart power supply? What is the benefit? This is just a commercial.
No, you can power extra pedals and it has an IEC connection. This is not a commercial
Lol, what? The only thing worse than a wall wart is a double-ended brick. I'll stick with my Voodoo thank you very much, Walrus.
I'll never purchase a WA Canvas product. They're all overpriced for nothing.
😂 with an external power supply unit. This is ridiculous😂
€ 259
Syo you just complained about the quad cortex and it's wall wart power supply so you're adding even more fuss with an additional power interface and a wall wart? make it make sense.
love this channel and have bought quite a few tonex/helix packs from yourselves but now your advocating the cardigan wearing slipper shufflers that is walrus audio who sell low quality gear dressed up for hipsters ( see the leather bound pedal range ) at an extortionate price then im out. Sell outs
