ELIUD KIPCHOGE || WHAT IT TAKES TO BE GREAT
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 сер 2024
- Eliud Kipchoge is considered by many to be the greatest marathon runner of all time. Since 2013, Kipchoge has been almost unbeatable across the marathon distance. In September of 2018, Kipchoge destroyed the previous world record in the marathon by running a time of 2:01:39.
In this video, we'll be taking a look at how Eliud Kipchoge lives on a day to day basis, and perhaps we'll understand how to be better in the marathon.
Thank you all very much for watching.

For me, Eliud K. is not only the greatest marathonist. He's an inspiration for much more: human virtues, discipline, perseverance, concentration, wisdom.
The dude does it all... trains hard, pushes his pace, defeats his rivals, is an environmentalist(ooh yeah)! Tops it all with a wr that no one can dream of running. Congrats, Eliud Kipchoge. Best to u in your further goals
My Hero, Proud to be Kenyan!
Totally agree.
It’s the kindhearted words he has and the humble life he lives.😊
"Only the disciplined ones are free in life. If you are undisciplined, you are a slave to your emotions and your passions." That is one of most underrated quotes I've ever heard. I don't know how much people realize the profound truth in that statement
very nice .....
Well, I'm an emotional guy and living with many passions and enjoying them. And I can say that the disciplined ones are the slaves of their own discipline.
@@bolivar9586
Saying that one is a slave to discipline is like saying one is a slave to freedom. It's an oxymoron. You can disagree with Kipchoge's quote but you have to understand that he is backed by minds like Nietzsche, Freud and Jung. I don't know if you've read any of them but I can't do justice to their works with a youtube comment. One of their pinnacle insights was that there are forces in your brain that control you far more than you control them. These forces reside in very deep and subconscious parts of your brain that you aren't even aware of them. They are the reason why only a handful of people are able to commit to their new year's resolution. The first step to being able to control them is to be aware of their existence. This is discipline and it is supremely important to achieving almost any long term goal.
You wouldn't have youtube, the internet or your computer to type a comment on if the world was full of people that just lived by emotion and passion without discipline. In fact the reason humans have made mind-boggling levels of progress is because of people willing to commit to accomplishing long-term goals despite what their emotions dictate to them in the short term. In the end, we're much more happier and find more meaning in life when we commit to goals and take up the necessary responsibilities to accomplish the goals. Otherwise, people just live a pathetic and ignorant life without much purpose.
Aron Tesfay very impressive Aron. Can you please share the books you have read on this subject.
@@SML783 I have read some of Jung's books (actually that's not entirely true since I haven't even come close to completing a single entire book). The good thing about Jung is that you'll also know a lot about his predecessors since he borrows and/or critics their works in his writings. The caveat is that Jung's works are large volumes of above-average level of reading. I have been reading "The Archetypes of the Collective Unconscious" for a while now and I'm still on the first volume. Another great read is "Modern Man in Search of a Soul".
Of course if like me and most other people, you don't have plenty of time, there are authors like Jordan Peterson who do a great job of providing the essence in books that aren't as huge. I have partially read "Maps of Meaning", which is a hard read. "12 Rules for Life" is a lot easier but still an excellent book.
I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a few other materials I've read. I'll try and remember to share when I recall them
He's an elite of elites. He lives like a monk with wisdom and wealth.
This man is the definition of a saint.

"A simple life is the best way to be free "Eliud Kipchoge
Kipchoge is one of the greatest athletes of all times, but he lives as any ordinary man. Inspiring.
Eliud is an amazing athlete. I remember when people where saying Tiger Woods is the greatest athlete of all time. What a joke that was.
Why?
usain bolt is fast. but this guy is the mother tank of all tank
Sub 2 doesn't even equate to what the human mind can comprehend for a 26.2 mile race. Makes zero sense. He did it, though. The greatest of all time Eliud Kipchoge
And just like you said it, he once again broke his own record. What a guy
Greatest marathon runner and a very humble man , keep doing Kenya proud, you have made your mark in athletic history
Selah
the most admiring aspect of this great man is not his world record. It is his way of life.
a zen master would be proud.
Oh and he ran Berlin like it was an early morning jog. Was incredible to watch.
Not only an amazing athlete, but an amazing human!!!
I just watched this video after eating dinner on a Monday night. It was at 7pm. I'm a cyclist but NOT a runner. After dinner, as if by remote control, my body got changed, put on my HR monitor and grabbed my phone for Strava, went outside, and ran my first ever 10K. Full disclosure, last month I ran once, a 5K, that was my greatest distance until today. I ran completely inspired. I felt so alive. I didn't know running could be like that. Thank you Mr. Kipchoge and thank you Total Running Productions. Here are my numbers from Strava: 10.2 km ~ 1:02:29 ~ 9:48/mi
Good stuff dude
That awesome!!!
Well done! So, please do not run regularly. Please run daily!
Everyday watching him inspires me more to push harder and reach my goal....Goodluck to you Sir!!!!
Man what a great video! So great to see the background of Kipchoge’s success. Keep up the good work.
I couldn't be more proud of him, you have done Kenyans proud, I am humbled.
Who else watching this video after his historical win in London 2019?
I’m here before it.
me too
The definition of Humility, massive respect for an amazing athlete and as a person.
5:01 Only the DISCIPLINED ones are FREE in life.
Wouldt that make you a slave to a certain pattern. If you give in to your desires, wouldnt that make you free to do whatever you want?
NO DOUBTS ABOUT THAT
@@peace606 for the moment, yes. I believe there needs to be a perfect balance between pleasure and discipline.
@@peace606 See, you control your desires. You dont let your desires control you
Y discipline doesn't mean cutting out pleasure and relaxation from your life. It meaning being able create a balance between all aspects of your life.
This guy is amazing.. unreal how a human can run like that .. no words
Kipchoge is a real definition of inspiration and passion. Talent well utilized. ❤️
Excellent video, perfect summary of this uber athlete’s extraordinary career. I don’t know how anyone can not be inspired by him.
You have no idea how much I love your channel thank you so much for making all these videos 💚
Your analysis’ are so satisfying bro! Keep up the great work!
Jack Hammond Thanks man! Means a lot to me. I love making these videos and learning the background of different runners.

Total Running Productions they’re honestly so good bro! Keep em coming!
@@TotalRunningProductions What's Kipchoge's lowest pulse ever recorded when he is at his peak form?
That's a good question. Unfortunately I'm not sure. I know elite endurance athletes reach a resting heart rate between 30 and 35 beats per minute. My guess would be that Eliud is right around there. If I find any more information I'll reach back to you.
Very inspiring. I agree with his quote: you have to free your mind in order to be truly free
Thank you for showing us the importance of the mind. Discipline and mental toughness are key traits to succeed and to live our lives full out!
"Emulate Souls that awaken your sense of worth; that remind You of your matchless potential; of the importance of Discipline in every day of life; of the peace and joy in Simplicity, and of the endless rewards of hard work and integrity; and that the Real Possesions of a man are not things that the elements can destroy, but those noble qualities of character he has amassed within him to make him a better image of God. This is Eliud for Me."
Dave O. Proudly Kenyan.

Thank you for creating this wonderful video. Eliud is an inspiration and a great role model.
This guy is amazing. His quotes hits me right in the feels. Made me really rethink and reflect on my lifestyle. Major major respect.
Very talented and beutifully weaved sentences! Your explainations are better than any other writers. Thanks a lot.

The best chanel's UA-cam to learn English, when like the Running ! Thanks
Another great video!!
What a great and blessed human being this child of Almighty God is!
And he made history today..well done
Thanks for making Kenya proud
And then there's me dying at 5km tempos
Reinis Martinsons XD sane dude
Lol 😂😁😀
Yeah, 20 minutes tempo run is enough for us mortals, maybe 40min in good day.
you are not alone.
Repetition is the father of learning . Do it long enough till your body adjusts to it then move on to 7, 9, 12 KM runs
Thank you for making this video about an absolutely spectacular and breath-taking runner. The only thing I'm missing in your analysis, is his lack of injuries. In 20 years of performing on the highest ultra world class, I think this is worth to mention. I haven't even heard he's got a cold. (I could be wrong, but...). :-) But anyway; thanks again. Your videos are great! SUPERGREAT!
That's a very good questions Eliud is mostly injury free...and that shows his simple lifestyle down to the earth and intelligent smart way of training has contributed to stay injury free....
Lack of injury also means not pushing yourself to the limits and being patient on your victory time. It took him many years to run, win and remain comfortable without working on breaking the world record. Indeed injury really wastes opportunities for athletes, Kenya's Rudisha and Jelimo are classic examples of those who pushed themselves hard and injury affected their career.
Damn this channel deserves so more subs
What an amazing video!! Thx for share!!!
I love the way you do your video man keep it up
nice video man, Kipchoge is the greatest of all time!

A great video, a great man, Eliud
Blessed man and humble.
Amazing . True inspiration 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great vid bro I love it
Love this video. It's so good to see a star be so human. I think Kipchoge smiles to help produce endorphins when he's tired. It's a form of meditation. Try it yourself.
I'm going to try next marathon. I expect to break the World Record!
I think it has to do with having the correct tongue posture. If your tongue is correctly positioned, your face appears to be smiling. I also agree it probably plays a part in encouraging beneficial endorphins to be produced in the body. The posture of the body overall helps that though, not just smiling.
True. You have to be self aware especially during the final of the race.
you know what really helps? Being slim af as he is. :D
I just tried that during last night's 2.4km , I think i improved a couple of seconds. Not bad!
A great insight 👏👏. Thank you 🙏
I was born in Eldoret kenya 🇰🇪 but now i live in Australia 🇦🇺
Proud to be a Kenyan and an Australian 🇦🇺 🇰🇪!!
Amazing quality video! Well done.
Thank you, this is inspiring. It reminds me of an old documentary of 1990s or early 2000s which showcasted the life of a man considered a genius because of his incredible IQ around 150 or so? and his lifestyle, similar to Kipchoge, he lived in a small farm and he enjoyed growing plants and taking care of his animals :)
Chris Langan?
this video is great! thank you!
Update* he already won the London 2019 marathon
Great subject, thank you!
My fellow Kenyan, Eliud am proud of you

A LEGEND!
Excellent doc..!!
You are the man... Congrats
good vid... another big example of his mental toughness was 2015 berlin marathon when he had to run most of the race with his nike insoles flopping out of the back of his shoes...
Fantastic video - thank you for putting this together. Absolutely fascinating man! we could learn so much from his humble lifestyle. i read in a few places that he only eats One meal a day? is that the case? would love to know. thank you
Update this plz this man just broke his own record a kind we all hail to

Love this video.. :D
What a man. Not only is he a pure athlete he's a pure gentleman
Amazing!!!
Amazing channel and videos, thank you very much! Could you maybe do "Analysing the greats" about Dennis Kimetto? Similar to Daniel Komen he did not have a Long career, but from 2012-2014 his performances were incredible!
seriously, if you're not a runner, and have been into running for sometime, you'll never be able to imagine how crazily impossible is this man's pace.
i was kinda sad when i realised that non-runners really can't appreciate elite marathoners. i had a conversation with my mon when we were driving and mentioned to her when we went 20km/h in one section that this is the pace of the world record marathon, i said "imagine a man ran with this pace but for 42 kilometers!" and her reply was "it's slow". WTF this is all out sprint for, it's insanely fast for 99.9% of the people, trained people can barely maintain it for 400m, let alone kilometer after kilometer. you need to run to appreciate it, if you don't run it looks like a jog for the average viewer.
gr8 video ,congrats
Fantastic video
Legend of marathon 🙏
I love this video-thank you! An idea for a future video: a profile on Mikey Brannigan. He is a great runner who has autism, a fantastic story and Olympic dreams.
