  • This is not my go-to cactus mix for rooting, but it was what I had around. Ideally I'd use Uni-gro with a lot of added pumice and lavarock. For Trichocereus I let them have more organic matter since they like a lot more water than other types of columnar cacti.

Where you get your pumice from? Usually get mine from Waterwise but they raised their price

I'm in LA County though. Look for landscaping rock supply places in your area. That'll be the cheapest. Most of those places sell pumice by the bag or the yard. The yard is a big tractor scoop that they put on the bed of your truck.. Some places deliver also.. I get mine from Whittier Fertilizer in Pico Rivera. Bags of about cubic foot are under $5. It has a lot of dust though. So I sift or wash it before using.

How long do you wait to water after potting up the cuts like you did? And how often do you water them?

If the weather is warm,1 or 2 days later. I then water lightly weekly. If potted. I give partial shade if its really hot. If just warm. Like 70-80 degrees, then give them more sun. Not detrimental, but I do use rooting hormone to help speed up rooting.

Useless to apply rooting hormone after the cutting is already calloused

I think it helps cuts root faster regardless. 👍🏻

This is false, roots will eventually come out and benefit from the powder.

@@AudioStorm1980ya but applying it on fresh cut is what gets the maximum benefit. Sulfur on a already dried cut is pointless.
