I worked on them at UPS for about 5 years. I could not wait to move up to the over the road tractors. Driver's are on time constraints and use you beat the crap out of them rattle delivery boxes.
Hi. I have Parkinson’s also. You can drive 200 miles a day! We are all affected so differently and I can see your signs and it’s how you manage that is so remarkable. Take Care!
Interesting that he used the back compartment for batteries and propane, and all his solar stuff. He actually has a lot of solar capacity on that roof, too. Nice set up. Totally functional. Good move to put that fan above his bed.
After watching this I'm sitting here in my 3500 sq ft house in NY and feeling like Duane has the better life. Everything he needs and nothing he don't. Way to go man, I take my hat off to ya.
Duane's step-van is indeed stunning & amazing. For me, my first impression was how clean & orderly his home appeared; so welcoming. He is a very intelligent man who has figured out the answers relevant to living his best life. This was an inspiring look at one man's success. Thanks, Bob!
This feels like a beautiful warm cozy home. Love the front door entrance. Perfect relationship when they both maintain their own home but are just a stone throw away from each other.
Yep, that's a really nice, well built home on wheels he's got. Seems to have everything he needs, space to stand up, good organization, plenty of solar, and a bike to boot! I hope he has a long, enjoyable retirement ahead.
I’m happy to share with you what someone else shared with me. An easy way to clean the glass on the door of the wood stove. Take a piece of newspaper and wet it good. Dip it in the ashes and rub away that creosote in 30 seconds!!
This guy has one of the best builds I've seen so far. He has good taste with the cedar paneling, the wood stove, the real windows and doors... AND a legit shower? I might have to look into getting a step van, although I drive them at my job right now and they are a beast to drive. I can't imagine going long distance in one of these :/
A beautiful home on wheels ! Love seeing a man who is clean and organized and in a home that is still homey. I wish you great success in your travels and may the wind always be at your back..Thank you for sharing.
Duane, Sir, your van build is the most beautiful and organized, neat and clean build I have ever seen on the hundreds of videos watched. Congratulations! You are very talented. Happy Trails.
wow - this is really fantastic! What a beautiful build!!! I love all the wood and the natural decorations. Really good set up, very practical with all the drawers. Think this is the nicest Van I have ever seen. Just love it!!! Very kind man too! Wish you happy trails and wonderful adventures. Thanks for sharing Dwayne and Bob. Greetz - JAson
My goodness! This has to be the most gorgeous van conversion I've ever seen! 😊 A huge congrats, Duane & son! If you wanted to you could start a van conversion business! But, I know that that would take the joy out of the life you've built now. Thanks, Bob & Duane! Simply fabulous! Cheers! 🍻 Lots of ✌ & ❤ from 😽
I applaud the man for his organisational skill and his obvious talent and intelligence. Superb job. I wish you happy, safe and healthy travels from Australia 🇦🇺🐨🇦🇺
I was brought over here from a short, so glad I watched the entire tour. Duane and his son did a fantastic job on the build. Love the interior and 'homey' feel ...fireplace is a nice touch and I like the Ikea slide-out drawers (something I'd definitely want) ...there's so many things I like about the build, thanks for sharing! ...safe travels!
The build , the tour, the interview, the man(Duane) the van, were all GREAT, but the part that touched me the most was the part about his son helping him with the build, and how well of a carpenter he is... I believe we all saw that in his home, its beautiful, but to hear him say it, and compliment his son, made me tear up .... Bob, as usual, great tour, thank you both. 👍
Wow! What an amazing build! The Harley carrier sold me. I want to haul a Harley with my cargo van but I'll have to do it with a trailer. Congratulations, Duane, on one super home on wheels!
Beautiful!!! I'm so thrilled to see the 7' bed. My hunny is 6'7" and I've been planning a build to ensure he has the height he needs. I haven't heard anyone mention a bed length of 7' but I thought it should be possible. Very reassuring to hear him mention it!!!! Thanks!
This is sweet. Love the design and Ikea slider drawers. The tongue and groove make it seem like a home. So much going on here. I would love to have a kitchen like this. Nice area for the cutting board that was just tucked away in plain sight. Love the shower curtain, hot water on demand, heating system etc. Etc. Etc. Beautifully done and clutter free living at its best.
I just made a deal to have one of these models delivered to me in a few days for about $6k. Nearly full time job, no debt, use some of my savings to convert it Can't predict the future, but at least I can feel I have a little bit of security if living expenses become even worse
Ya know I really think I like your stepvan better than say a promaster. There is so much more room in your stepvan. I also love how you have it set up. Im still not sure which way I want to go. I can get my hands on bout anything where I live, but not sure what I want. Well enjoy your time and congrats on your new friend. She sounds wonderful. Be safe, stay well and God Bless to you and your friend.
Absolutely love his demeanor I love people like this they are breed they’re hard to fine disappearing just as quick as you find them they are very precious we have them as a friend hold onto them this is definitely not a truck there’s a home it’s beautiful and I love it when I saw that instant pot I couldn’t be without my instant pot I love that thing just wanted to say how much I love this home and the sweet Ness of this man very kind soul you can see that just like Bob
Should you want or need an oven, you can find on Amazon or in a camping department in big box stores a Coleman folding oven. I’ve had mine for over 35 years and baked pizza, bread, cookies, cakes etc and it works just great. I have even used it on top of a wood stove with great success. They usually go for approx $50. When not in use it folds down to about 14 inches square by 2 inches thick.
Astounding. I adore this step-van. Everything abt it! The wood is gorgeous. So glad he found his soulmate too. What a nice man. Great interview as always, Bob. Thnx for another one to treat us with & whet our appetite!☀️
He has made a fantastic home!!! I would like rather have a build like this than a super-expensive brand new Class A!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!! 😊
That’s a beautiful build! Thanks for sharing! I love the look of all that cedar! I also love that little stove! Inspirational! Well, Bob, it’s taken me years but I finally bought a van. My credit was in the toilet so I had to get my Score up so I could get a decent percentage. I bought a used 2019 Ford Transit Connect with 13K miles on it. I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for being here and promoting and teaching this lifestyle. I’ve followed you for years and pass your channel to many who want to learn about #vanlife! See you out there soon! Sandy
One of the best van conversions I have ever seen. Great build! I finished work last summer as well and bought a narrowboat and the comments made about community applies to the narrowboat community as well. It's weird that in a house you only know people briefly, but in a boat (or van), you have family around you.
Reminder: In order to cut wood in the National Forest you must get a "Free Use Permit" and you can only cut dead wood in designated areas. Usually, those "designated areas" will only be at specific locations where they have recently cut down hazard trees.
As the super rich buy up all the land in 'our' country, this is surely the way to go for young folks, too!
I drive one of these every day (not converted) for work and I will never look at it the same way again. Awesome built!
I worked on them at UPS for about 5 years. I could not wait to move up to the over the road tractors. Driver's are on time constraints and use you beat the crap out of them rattle delivery boxes.

I'm guessing the fan on top of the woodstove is functional also.
I love how stoked Bob gets to encourage people doing the basics to the best of their ability.
This is beautiful
After watching this I'm sitting here in my 3500 sq ft house in NY and feeling like Duane has the better life. Everything he needs and nothing he don't.

Maybe one day you'll take the leap🤗🇨🇦
#metoo

Wow, you've done an amazing job on your step van, and your so organized!🌿
True friends don't just share the same interests, they share the same core values.
Man, you would never think that van has Superior, to even, Mercedes accoutrements. This is very impressive. 😊
so true.... this design...4:04. cubic, strong 14:30
He and his son did an excellent job. He should be a proud father. Thank you for the video. Excellent

Wish they would have discussed cost of van and the build
David B Total cost for van with lift gate and all materials came to about $28,000.
@@MicrowaveZilla Top quality build man! As a fellow tall guy I fully appreciate all the thought that you put into it. Thanks for the inspiration!
Duane Van Abbema ......outstanding job Duane.....such an inspiration.

I’d consider a pellet stove instead of loading wood at 3 am
Love the setup, not cluttered and organized
Great to see people enjoying their retirement. Wish them the best of luck and many great memories
Wow...love it. It's a "real" house on wheels! I especially love the "real" doors and windows.

Yes Bob, some great ideas. I'm also glad he has that back opening for any emergency exit situations.

Great work! Only thing is a larger fridge. But that is easy. Fantastic
That is an awesome rig. One of the best you've shown yet. Practical and well laid out. Very utilitarian, yet good looking as well. Great job, Duane!
Thanks for including the personal side of things. Great video as always.
"Stunning" sums it up nicely. What an exceptional build out!
Seen a lot of these videos, This is by far my favorite.....

Grant Robertson Campers can take dead and down wood up to 1/4 cord per day without a permit. Taking wood out of the National forest requires a permit.
Love the little wood burning stove and the head room
What a wonderful van build, I am so impressed, nice bloke as well, I just love it.
One of the BEST homes on the Road ❤
What a great rig!
To help with the road noise he could install some Kilmat or Thermo-Tech mat for sound control and insulation factor
I would love a tour of the Mooovin on Van!!! I'll bet she is an awesome chic and good for you guys keeping each your own vans
awwww thank you
