LizDg just do it. Do whatever you reach to do! I draw & painted faces since I was little! Went through lots of discouragement, am still struggling due to different reasons, yet am an Artist, everything I tend to do it to the best of perfection, that's why in part I struggle, delayed, & some jumped on me with bad attitudes because they're not accustomed to an Artist being doing their air conditioning job for example, which is mostly what I ended up doing. Yet am buying some tools to do wood carving, leather carving, etc, but painting a face could be more profitable, but I needed to don't be stressed, to paint, so long story short why am I tell you "do what you can"? Because that is what e can do. Am 46 years old, stuck & frustrated, I can't buy a property where I live now, I need to stay rented, thanks God am paying for rent. Compay Segundo, an elderly of 90 years old triumph in the musical industry at 90. We must do what we can whether we become famous or not, the first key is tk be able to support ourselves doing what we can. Just get some tools, start doing small projects like keychains, wallets, belts, & add your adorns to them. It'll be beautiful & unique!

I have a 30 lb box of scrap leather (I would hardly call it scrap there are some huge pieces in there lol) waiting for me to play with I got a few years ago bc the price I couldn’t refuse. Thank you!
What size knife blade are you using? Your knife marks cuts easily and smooth. My knife blade cuts choppy and doesn’t glide easily. I thought was dull, so I sharpened the blade and then used my strop on it. Richard

Then you come along with a neadle and just go after it like it's second nature. Shame on you. I love watching you and everything you do. Some day something mite sink in. Never stop. I love it.

Most of the time I wet the whole piece and let it case a while. If you wet the back side it will give your tooling and carving more depth.

I use a thin hollow ground 1/4" Barry King swivel knife and blade most all the time.
