- In this video, we come back to a subject that we have made content for in the past... your swivel knife cuts.
I believe the swivel knife is the most important tool in your floral carving tool roll that you must get very comfortable with. This is great news because you don't need an entire saddle shop or work bench to practice with your swivel knife.
Check out this video and spend some time everyday working with your swivel knife which will help your floral carving to become more elegant and accurate.

Mr. Don,
Jim Linnel has a video called swivel knife finesse every body should watch, I believe he also offers it as a course at most leather shows.
Thank You Don that is what I needed!!!
Thank you, Don, that was very helpful! I'm a musician and can't agree with you more on the importance of practice. Great video!
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for.[ My swivel knife is not sharp enough]
Thanks Don! Great tips!
Awesome info. Thanks so much❤️
Great tutorial for practicing swivel knife. For me , I have learned that concentration on the third finger pressure to help guide the blade cut has helped me get more accurate cuts ! An learning to leaning top of knife to change direction for petal an leaf cuts . Thanks Don . Great view of your hand an finger movement s .
Thanks, Don. Good information. Now I just need practice!
Don you never cease to amaze me. Thank you so very much for sharing your genius.
Do you have more videos about swivel knife information?
Your video piped up on Google News information, lol. I was not searching, but your video is very informative!
Great info.
great tips, thanks
Very well explained. Thank you
Thank you!
Even your practice pieces are artistic.
Thank You
Magic. 🙏
Do you have a preference on blade style? My swivel knife came with a straight blade like you use in this video, but I had a thought that an angled blade would do something for me, but now I can’t remember what it was.
A video covering case management would be awesome. Also would you mind showing/detailing the tool roll you keep your stamps in? Thank you Sir!
Hello Mr Gonzalez,I want to wet form a cigar case but I want to tool a design into it also. What do I do first to maintain my tooling?
Thank you in advance.
Thank you Don
it should be wet ?
Thank yo, Don have a lot of practice required 😬
I gotta spend more time practicing...
In one of your past videos you had a beveller that you could run along straight lines quickly rather than using a stamp. Where could I find one of those?
Age old question.... Can I buy a swivel knife that comes sharpened, stropped and ready for use?
You can from most custom makers but after a bit of use you’ll need to strop it anyway.
Good information, I'm just starting. Do you sell practice bags of leather? AKA scrapes.
FYI I just bought scraps from Amazon. The vendor is ELW (European Leather Works). I got 6 lbs of 6-10 oz for $60 with a 10% discount. They sell 1lb for $20 as well as lighter weight. I've bought scraps from them 4 times over the last 2 years and the sizes are excellent for practice or small projects. Have a great day.
What do you think about ceramic bladed swivel knives.
I know I have two of them and love them
