Can the Yellow House Registration Book be used to sell a car. You mentioned it could be used for buying a car. I have sold my car to a Thai and need to get it transferred into his name.

Since this is a rather recent video, i will comment. First, the government has issued each District Office (called Amphor in the provinces and Ket in Bangkok) a manual that explains what is needed and how to issue all tabbies Baan including Yellow house books. As your local district office what is required by them since there is a variation from office to office as to what is needed even though it is clearly spelled out for them in the DOPA manual. Personal relationships also determine what is required as is demonstrated in this video. In Bangkok most Khet require much more documentation and at least two witnesses.

Good job. I got one when I was given permanent residence. No one asked for a passport translation. Seeing as immigration uses the passport as is, you would think they officially accepted the passport as is. Such is Thailand.

This is informative but very unclear. For example key points.
    1. Does the foreigner need to be married?
The amphur office was clear I needed either be married or work for a Company.
It could be as you said however . They just couldn't be bothered. Should I persist?
Perhaps you were lucky that day?
fresh back from ampur Banthi Chiangmai after watching your video. my feeling was it was too good to be true. Amphur phoned Lampoon office to confirm that the foreigner must be married or have a work permit and letter from the employer. if you are simply on a tourist visa and not married (simply living with a Thai Family with letter/declaration from Family as proof) it's not enough. Can you confirm this is the case or do you think it might be good to try more amphur offices? Cheers though for the Vid.

My wife of 16 years has denied this and avoided it. Immigration officer told me to get one asap and use it at land transport office, banks and anywhere ID is required. If the amphu refuses call him and he will instruct it is to happen. His parting words were "as a married man you have the same rights and freedom as any Thai man conducting administrative business. Point of note I was on my own and getting through the conversation smoothly. I think he acknowledge I don't like my wife taking my hand everywhere. Many men are in the same position. A great post and exactly what I'm off to obtain. It's our right to have this book and highly encouraged by immigration along with the free pink ID card.

Forgot to mention your marriage certificate, if you have a Thai wife or husband!

The process is long and involves a lot of paperwork. one trick I learned was stack each document in the order they appear in the document list. the officer really appreciated it. Also, speak Thai with the officers. They said I was the only one who bothered.

By the way, the whole process is written on ThaiVisa.com by a guy called Camerata. Very accurate.

Thanks for that - I'll bear it in mind if I ever decide to go through the process myself!
