I think ArkOS still has faster load times, but considering that 351elec continues to be updated the differences will start to show and it would be nice to have a video about the differences currently between the two to help figuring out what OS to install.
@@pon1 Following that logic, I think it would be best to wait towards the end of 2021 to make a new comparison video to give time for 351elec to flourish.
@@v101damnations Yeah, I do agree with that, or at least until 351elec has comparable loading times. Maybe a loading time comparison so that we know what the actual difference is? That might give a lot of incentive to work on getting them shorter. I don't actually mind the loading times of the games that much, but the loading time when the system is off until we get to the main menu is really long on 351elec and from what I understand ArkOS has much shorter loading time in that regard.
Having Problems with it, using the Stock SD card as of right now, and because there are multiple Partitions, i dont know which one to choose. Edit: i fixed it, had to wipe out all the Partitions via command prompt, now it works like a charm. Thanks for the great guide, the effort you put into this is just amazing. Thank you.

I'm really glad there is a link we can use to send some money their way :D I sent what I could because it's awesome we are able to use this completely for free on our devices and they're working on updating it on the RG351V, mine is in transit as I type this, and I cannot wait to use ArkOS on it and start playing the games that have defined my childhood! Finally getting to play Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG once again and games like Minish Cap and Links Awakening! I cannot wait I need it! Then hopefully whenever we get that powkiddy device that's gonna be good for wii and gamecube I'll be set!

Having no luck at all with wifi on my 351p. I have the correct adapters/dongles, tried setting it up while not charging as well as charging, made sure I used the 2.4ghz network...nothing. The adapters clearly work because I can see my network in the list, but there is no network setting in the options menu (it looks like the menu in the video after it's updated to the final version. The wifi options are present in emulationstation (that's how I'm able to see my network), but nothing seems to work. Maybe I'd have better luck with 351elec?

So thankful for your videos. I was bummed out because I always thought snes colors looked washed out..and it bugged me so much i couldn’t play some of my favorite games on this device so I ordered an S30 🤣 . After watching this and trying to snes9x 2010 core with the nx shader, it was game changer. I’m returning the other device 😭

I'd look at joining the Retro Handhelds community on discord if you're having trouble setting something up. Sounds like it might be a hardware issue though if the button isn't working. The membrane under the buttons is kinda thin on these. I never had any issues with my 351p though.

I'm not sure what I did but while changing screen setting my hotkeys got all messed up. RetroArch won't come up with select-x, I can't close retro ark without taking me back to the main menu, and I can't close games. HELP
I got a question hoping you would be able to help. I followed your steps all the way from the start and get the Ark OS working for the most part. But the one thing missing is the short cut to open up the RetroArch overlay interface by pressing the R3 and L3( or pressing select/start like you did at 13:49). In my case, if I press select and start at the same time twice it will stop the current game and take me back to the game selection menu. And the R3/L3 function is totally gone. I really hope you could give me some advice on that because ArkOS really seems to be the one to use as of now. Thanks in advance.
I tried writing the arkOS to the micro sd card using win32 disk imager but it gives me an access error 5 code. I ran it as administrator and still won’t work. Thoughts?

I have a question, I bought a Rg351p, and it worked really well, but my micro SD card got corrupted so i got it fixed, but when I put it in my device, all I got was a black screen with a blinking white line in the top left, but it doesn't boot up, is that what's wrong? I have to get it updated?

@@RetroGameCorps I got it from the Anbernic website, I messaged them.. I hope so.. .. thinking about it the screen doesn't look like it's in straight, the bottom has a gap,, maybe opening it up and resetting stuff will make the problem go away.
i performed all steps except updates with wifi. Some games have problems with the retro emulator but not with the retrox32. Not everyone is retrox32, how can I do?

Just spent the afternoon installing this and adding games etc before realising there's no & key on the keyboard when entering the WiFi password. Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this? Otherwise ill need to switch to 351ELEC
help please ... is there a way to install packages like DRASTIC without the wifi dongle ... i mean offline? looked all over the internet, found a script but that method doesn't work. It was the script where you put a drastic folder in ports and then run drasticinstal.sh but the ds emulator still doesn't work. i don't want to buy a wifi dongle + adaptor, (as it seams that that there are no usb-c wifi dongles out there) just for this one use case
Is anyone else having issues updating cores within RetroArch? I keep getting the message "Failed to retrieve core list". I'm able to update other assets in RetroArch. I'm using the latest version of ArkOS. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these videos.
Been having an issue with getting this installed. Flashed the card and the first boot up sequence seemed to be all good, but when prompted to hit A, hitting A does nothing. Could this be a hardware issue, or have I done something wrong? Cheers to anyone that can help.
I ran into an issue on Win7 with no drive letter being assigned to the EASYROMS partition after a fresh install with brand new gear.. checked in computer management to assign a letter to it but the partition doesn't even exist. It just shows 112GB of unusable space with no option to reassign, or modify it in any way. I've looked through FAQ list and there is no mention of this issue there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update: After formatting and reinstalling a third time and going through the bootice method I finally got the partition to display its entire available capacity (112GB). Thanks for the link mate.. helped me get there in the end. They should really make mention of it in the FAQ section of the ArkOS github wiki.
Update#2: I've placed my ROMs/bios files in their respective folders, returned the SD card to the console and now it comes up with boot failure error...
@@RetroGameCorps Is there anything more I can try? I've followed the steps to the letter, everything is fine until I add a rom + bios file which then causes the system to fail booting up. I've bought another decent micro sd card to rule that out. I'm starting to think I have a dud 351m..
Awesome video, quick question. Where does ARKOS save in game saves for GBA for games that automatically save progress? I am looking to extract a gamesave from a cartridge I own and wanted to load it into the emulator so I can resume my gamesave but I cant find where ARKOS keeps that data. The specific title I am playing is the Yu-Gi-Oh worldwide edition game. Thanks for your help
For some reason, after I have flashed ArkOS to the MicroSD, ran the setup on the Anbernic, and safely shut down my RG351M - my MacBook will no longer recognize the MicroSD. I have tried erasing/reinstalling and starting from the beginning with the same results. Anyone have similar issues on MacOS?
SOS please. I copied the bios files onto my desktop them copied them into the new micro SD but they arent showing up in ArkOS and they are not hidden. Also when I plug the micro SD in to my PC the "boot" folder doesnt appear... It asks me to format is before i can use it and when i say no i cannot open that partition
Greetings !! How can I configure the Standalone glide64mk2 nintendo 64 buttons on arkos? what happens is that the C buttons are on the A, X, R2 and L2, and for games where the camera is used with the C buttons it doesn't work well.
I can’t access my SD card through file explorer after installing arkos. I put it in the card reader but it doesn’t show up, the card reader just shows as empty. The SD card works since I can boot up on my 351P and the card reader is good because it reads my 351elec card. Any ideas? I just flashed it using the 351p image and Rufus.
ArkOS is based on Linux, which uses an ext4 file system.... Windows cannot use that file system so you may need to find some software online that can read ext4, or boot into Linux on your computer and edit the SD card that way without removing your current OS
Could you do me a favor and tell me how Metal Gear Solid 1, MGS Portable Ops and MGS Peace Walker do on the RG351 series and similar handhelds ? Ive been looking for a handheld than can play these 3 and not be a PS Vita. Thank you very much in advance
Hi! I added PS1 roms and they show in the list but have a little star buy them and then don’t launch. You click a game and then it goes to another screen with the game name. They are in folders, do I need to take just the file out of the folder?

im having an issue loading saved games in arkOS, with gbc games whenever i try to play a game i have a save in it just goes to a white screen and i have to shutdown the console entirely. is there any way to fix this?

Guys, set "Auto-Shader Delay" to 0 if your shader settings not applying at game start after all. Took me a couple of hours to find out.

Hi! I really need some help here! I just bought a RG351M and installed the ArkOS, but 'EASYROM' partition doesn't show up. I went to Disk Management and I couldn't change the partition's name. Please, help me!
I have a question, I bought a Rg351p, and it worked really well, but my micro SD card got corrupted so i got it fixed, but when I put it in my device, all I got was a black screen with a blinking white line in the top left, but it doesn't boot up, is that what's wrong? I have to get it updated?

@@RetroGameCorps I got it from the Anbernic website, I messaged them.. I hope so.. .. thinking about it the screen doesn't look like it's in straight, the bottom has a gap,, maybe opening it up and resetting stuff will make the problem go away.

i performed all steps except updates with wifi. Some games have problems with the retro emulator but not with the retrox32. Not everyone is retrox32, how can I do?

I'm trying to find any information on where to specifically get the BIOs files but I can't seem to find what I need to download. Will the BIOs folder that came with the other OS work for it?

Is there any way to flash my new SD card on my smartphone because I don't have any PC around me right now but I really wanna install Arkos and play or use my rg351m.
Changing the shader in game causes the quick menu to not be able to pull up anymore and I have to reset. Any advice?

Just spent the afternoon installing this and adding games etc before realising there's no & key on the keyboard when entering the WiFi password. Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this? Otherwise ill need to switch to 351ELEC
help please ... is there a way to install packages like DRASTIC without the wifi dongle ... i mean offline? looked all over the internet, found a script but that method doesn't work. It was the script where you put a drastic folder in ports and then run drasticinstal.sh but the ds emulator still doesn't work. i don't want to buy a wifi dongle + adaptor, (as it seams that that there are no usb-c wifi dongles out there) just for this one use case
Is anyone else having issues updating cores within RetroArch? I keep getting the message "Failed to retrieve core list". I'm able to update other assets in RetroArch. I'm using the latest version of ArkOS.

Been having an issue with getting this installed. Flashed the card and the first boot up sequence seemed to be all good, but when prompted to hit A, hitting A does nothing. Could this be a hardware issue, or have I done something wrong? Cheers to anyone that can help.
@@RadOpsTV I used PC. Tried 351Elec and that installed, but confirmed that the buttons on the device are not working/not registering
I ran into an issue on Win7 with no drive letter being assigned to the EASYROMS partition after a fresh install with brand new gear.. checked in computer management to assign a letter to it but the partition doesn't even exist. It just shows 112GB of unusable space with no option to reassign, or modify it in any way. I've looked through FAQ list and there is no mention of this issue there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: After formatting and reinstalling a third time and going through the bootice method I finally got the partition to display its entire available capacity (112GB). Thanks for the link mate.. helped me get there in the end. They should really make mention of it in the FAQ section of the ArkOS github wiki.
Update#2: I've placed my ROMs/bios files in their respective folders, returned the SD card to the console and now it comes up with boot failure error...
@@RetroGameCorps Is there anything more I can try? I've followed the steps to the letter, everything is fine until I add a rom + bios file which then causes the system to fail booting up. I've bought another decent micro sd card to rule that out. I'm starting to think I have a dud 351m..

Awesome video, quick question. Where does ARKOS save in game saves for GBA for games that automatically save progress? I am looking to extract a gamesave from a cartridge I own and wanted to load it into the emulator so I can resume my gamesave but I cant find where ARKOS keeps that data. The specific title I am playing is the Yu-Gi-Oh worldwide edition game. Thanks for your help
For some reason, after I have flashed ArkOS to the MicroSD, ran the setup on the Anbernic, and safely shut down my RG351M - my MacBook will no longer recognize the MicroSD. I have tried erasing/reinstalling and starting from the beginning with the same results. Anyone have similar issues on MacOS?
SOS please. I copied the bios files onto my desktop them copied them into the new micro SD but they arent showing up in ArkOS and they are not hidden. Also when I plug the micro SD in to my PC the "boot" folder doesnt appear... It asks me to format is before i can use it and when i say no i cannot open that partition

Greetings !! How can I configure the Standalone glide64mk2 nintendo 64 buttons on arkos? what happens is that the C buttons are on the A, X, R2 and L2, and for games where the camera is used with the C buttons it doesn't work well.

I can’t access my SD card through file explorer after installing arkos. I put it in the card reader but it doesn’t show up, the card reader just shows as empty. The SD card works since I can boot up on my 351P and the card reader is good because it reads my 351elec card. Any ideas? I just flashed it using the 351p image and Rufus.
ArkOS is based on Linux, which uses an ext4 file system.... Windows cannot use that file system so you may need to find some software online that can read ext4, or boot into Linux on your computer and edit the SD card that way without removing your current OS

Hi! I added PS1 roms and they show in the list but have a little star buy them and then don’t launch. You click a game and then it goes to another screen with the game name. They are in folders, do I need to take just the file out of the folder?

im having an issue loading saved games in arkOS, with gbc games whenever i try to play a game i have a save in it just goes to a white screen and i have to shutdown the console entirely. is there any way to fix this?
