I know right! Whenever me and my friends do fun stuff I'm always the one organising it, so I'd love to attend something like this. Ruby sounds like an awesome friend to have!
I feel like they should have put their phones away for that one evening. Ruby put so much effort into it to be truly Victorian but then the phones are out all the time.
I couldn't help but laugh when Martha was in the background using her mouth to open the champagne packaging 😂 Also had anxiety that the candles were going to tip

Turkey Vlogah Actually my family isn’t upper middle class at all. I just don’t like buying things since I often find I don’t use them as much as I thought I would. 😐
Martha is awesome at the end!!!! Ruby, you’ve done so much work for this video, thank you! And thanks to your pattens for their support, your mom is amazing! ❤️
I am studying so hard this year because I have an exam which is really challenging. I am working for my dream university. In Turkey, it is really hard to be successful in this exam. When I lost my motivation, you are always there for me... This is so special because you are helping people who needs motivation. I just wanted to thank you :)) Sorry for my English, I am new at this. Also you are helping me on learning English haha
This looks amazing! There’s a really interesting programme called Victorian Farm. It’s where a group of three historians live a full calendar year as Victorian farmers. They do other time periods as well. So interesting 🙂
One little piece of advice for ironing the table cloth. You can do it on the table if you use a soft cloth or something similar to protect the table from the heat of the iron. It's so much easier.
How wonderful to go to these lengths to host a Victorian dinner party. What a lot of work! Impressive and rewarding. But my absolute favourite part of this film is the girl who uses her teeth to tear open the wrapper around the bottle of fizz prior to serving it - absolute gold dust.
DailyLifeWithElls xoxo wrong. The U.K. is world renowned for having a class system. We are not equal to those below or above us, let’s keep it that way.
You know, at first i was quite confused about your "kindness journal thing". I didn't understand how it will improve relationships between people. And actually i still dont understand it. But i think, it's pretty obvious that life is getting harder and mostly people are stressed and annoyed. Maybe its because it's getting colder outside or we just don't take our vitamins. But nowadays i find it so difficult to communicate with people around me. I feel so alone. And future frightens me. I really hope that people will be more kind and caring. I really want to have people around me who i can talk to. I feel like people are always ready to judge, but we all have our circumstances, so let us be ourselves. And now i see that you are far ahead of me in understanding what society needs. And its not just a "thing", its a step towards "making the world a better place". You do right things, keep up.
I'm realizing how rich these people must've been back in the day to have dinner parties this elaborate while eating with actual silver spoons REGULARLY. The staff alone...🤯. Chefs, dishwasher, waitresses... The cost of the food
I wish I would have a friend like you, I'm really into history, I also own a lot of historical items from 1850 to 1950. Just non of my friends is interested in history.
Ruby’s friends didn’t dress up and even had their phones on the table. You could still do something like this and just invite your friends anyway. They don’t have to dress up. I’ve been contemplating throwing a Star Trek dinner party. None of my friends are Trekkies, but that doesn’t matter ☺️
I wanted to take a moment to tell you how happy your work makes me. I recently lost a friend who was an experimental archeologist. He could knapp obsidian so well, the Southwest museum wanted to sell his work. So much knowledge has left the world with him it aches. I couldn’t get him here on UA-cam to demonstrate his skills. So when I found your wonderful channel, I realized you are the new vessel of your cultural and historical knowledge, and you’re going to be a walking encyclopedia someday just like him. You’re going to leave a lot of interested stimulated adults and happy kids in your wake as you go. You give me hope for the future young lady. Oh Ruby this is so amazing! For my 18th birthday (a few years ago xD) I hosted a dinner party as well and my friends loved it! I also wished for everyone to gift me their favourite quote or poem and after dinner they all read it out to me. To all of you who are insecure about doing sth like this with your friends: Most of my friends were gamers or metal heads at that time, but they were also my friends, so they didn't laugh about it at all and I think I'm still friends with everyone I had dinner wirh that evening.
This is soo cool. Ughh imagine how much monet it would take to do that in those days. Like ppl who did that regularly must've had alott of $! Also ur home is soo beautiful and the view from the dining area is divine!
I think this period of time of the human race it was so great...! Really astonishing! You have made a great effort with the video I just love it. Congratulations!
I thought this was an excellent effort on your part. The only suggestion I would make is to not have cell phones. The Victorians valued conversation with the people at the table. I do agree that not speaking with the "servant's" would be near impossible, since they were people you actually knew :)
Loved this video! I've been looking forward to it since you showed some of the preparation in one of your vlogs :D so excited for the etiquette rules video too :)
I was surprised to see phones on the table. Oh, for pictures. But at least could put it far away face down. Such a fun party idea!! I had a full out homemade tea party for my 21st

Napkin rings for a dinner party would have been a total no-no. You'd put out napkins, yes, beautifully folded, but it would be assumed they would not be re-used before washing, which is what napkin rings were invented for.
This is awesome. I have personally wanted to host a tea party before. I really appreciated seeing this kind of content. A ten course meal is a very big endeavor for a single person! Well done!
Wonderful!! By the way, where is the research document linked? I didn't see it, and I'd love to read it; I haven't found many good 19th century cookbooks, so I'm not sure what sort of other things one could cook for a Victorian dinner party.
I feel like we didn't get to see any rules or table manners portrayed or re-eacted also didn't even get to see all the meal courses, which kind of left me hanging in the end. What exactly we got to learn from this, felt like private video to me, if I'm being honest, not for the big audience to see. Not trying to be mean, just feeling a little bit confused after watching, maybe I was expecting something more in depth or inclusive, I don't know.
It’s not a tutorial. You got to see Ruby share her experience with what she had planned and put together. It’s lovely that she shared most of it with us. I was hoping they would dress “Victorian “ and put away the cell phones.

Should the waitress be ripping the bottle label off with her teeth? Gotta like that Martha.

No, that damages your teeth. Bad idea. Bad idea
I noticed that too and it cracked me up
Level 1: Dinner party
Level 2: Vegan
Level 3: Victorian Etiquette
Level 4: *breathing intensifies* 10 courses

Ruby Granger : what’s like to have no friends
Also Ruby Granger: having a Victorian dinner party with her friends
she does have friends, she was acting
TheEmeraldPigeon i know 😊
Dragon Fly I know
She has friends now, she didn't have them in middle school when she was bullied I think
Leonor Rocha I think so
The beginning was a scene from dowton abbey lol
I imagined your friends completely different

i want to do this but 1 i'm poor and can't cook and 2 i only have two friends

Same XD
i wanna be yourfriend
Should have been 1) I'm poor 2) I can't cook 3) I only have two friends . cheers !
Two friends is plenty. Have them chip in too and just do inexpensive food for one or two courses. I’ll still be great. Go for it❣️
Phones on the table is a no no..
Alraundelberin* so right
Its better than having them under the table 😂
Constantly running around with a camera ruins the atmosphere much more, I think.
Gotta love Martha opening a bottle with her teeth ! LOL!
Dinners in Victorian style
_Has table soccer in the background_
Why is it that I only just noticed this haha!!! x

The only thing that kinda bugged me was the cellphones being on the table.
And has a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream tub on the table at 13:41!!
