I subbed to this man's channel. Aside from him being an absolute savant on the grille, he's got a Bob Ross kind of calm while teaching us! Great man and keep the content coming!
As a Navy vet I appreciate your thanks and so do all the other vets. I enjoy making bread for my family and seeing you bake it using hot coals gives me an idea to make it on our next camping trip. Thank you Kent and may God bless you also.
army vet here. I'm ready to learn homemade bread
You can’t go wrong with butter & honey 🍯 or blackberry jam. Can’t wait to try this recipe!
Hope you enjoy. and thank you for watching
Oh man I know this is older, but I would say Warm Bread, A little Butter, and Homemade Straw Berry Freezer Jam. Oh my gosh I need some NOW. Very well-done guys Thank you as always.
My wife is going to be so excited for me to make this Bread! And our favorite thing for fresh bread is butter and drizzled honey
I hope you both enjoy
what time should I be there?
Thank you for the Bread Recipe!
I’d top my bread with MORE Butter. Can’t ever have enough butter on your bread.
That is for sure
I have been baking sourdough bread for about 10 years now and love it. I have been using no knead recipes with good results. Nothing beats home made!
Kent ~ My husband and I truly enjoy all your videos. It was our 19 year old son that introduced us to your channel. Love seeing the taste testers get to do their "job". Shannon does such tremendous work. We are getting ready to can Jalapeno Pepper Jelly. We think it would the perfect topping for your homemade bread.
Outstanding looking homemade bread. I love how it turned out. Fresh butter would be great on that bread. My dad, who turned 92, this month, said that long ago on the farm, in Alberta, his mother would make him sandwiches for his school lunch that had homemade bread, butter, cucumbers and lettuce, from the garden. He said they were so good. Cheers, Kent and Shannon! ✌️
Is their a cooking show you don't watch? Everyone I've ever watched has your comment under it. My grandmother would bake (2) loaves a day for no telling how many yrs. The butter sat right beside them, along with the bread knife. Sure was good anytime of day. I was lucky i lived just across the road. Went everyday and ate fresh bread, sugar cookies, and sweet tea. With good conversation.
@@duanehenicke6602 I watch a lot of cooking shows. I love cooking. Cheers, Duane! ✌️
Ooohh I have to do what your sweet Grandmother did❣️❣️🙏🏼🙏🏼 That sounds so GOOD (and only from a garden where everything is grown with precise care and LOVE GODS SUNSHINE and HIS WATER ❣️❣️OH WHAT YOU SAY❣️❣️😄❤️❤️❤️
Wow you bread look so good with some butter
🙂Back in the Azores, our house had a built-in wood oven for baking bread. Bread and soup was our main staple.
Sounds great! I'm sure it was good eating
@@CowboyKentRollins 😆🐮🐄Yes ❗And living on an island with more cows than people (People-57.000........Cows-65.000+)......we had local butter and cheese to go with the bread too. 🧈🧀😀................the good Lord always provides. 🙏†
Rui Duarte de Andrade Adao, Portuguese Sweet Bread is my favorite bread. Yummy.
@@wendymitchell7279 👍🙂Yes❗There is a breakfast/lunch restaurant in the north end of my town, owned by people from Pico Island (Açores), and they make a cheese roll with a "Portuguese twist"...........it is made with American cheese....but the dough is sweetbread.....I butter a grill....then grill it like grilled cheese, and then add some Polish cooked ham and it makes a great sandwich for breakfast❗It is the only place that I know of that makes a cheese roll like that.
@@bachatamusica , my family is from Rhode Island in the US. Very heavy with Portuguese folks mainly from San Miguel area. Sweet Bread with an egg in the middle for Easter. Ahh memories.
If the bread is still warm, There is nothing better than some warm melted butter to go with it. If it is cooled off, but it’s still good and fresh, then I like a good old fashion peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The fresh bread makes it amazing! I don’t have these much anymore, but when I have a good bread like this it reminds me of being a kid again And is worth the calories as long as I have a cool glass of milk to go with it. Thanks for all you do Kent and Shan, And for always remembering us vets.
Your bread looks like it could just melt in your mouth. There is nothing like homemade bread.
So good it is
I've taken up baking bread in a dutch oven at home in recent years, and enjoy trying different recipes. I've never baked one with eggs in the dough, but I plan to do your recipe next. It looks mighty tasty! Since this bread has some onion and garlic powder mixed in, I'd cut off a healthy slice of it and toast it with a little butter and some melted mozzarella on top with a shake of dried herbs from our garden. Cheese bread!
Thank you for sharing your recipes and keep doing what you're doing!
Kent, sir: I've seen thousands of recipes of bread around the world, none of them were so amazing as yours. God bless you in all His glory. I just would make this recipe a bit better with half rye flour and half wheat flour. Greetings from Brazil!
Nothing beats the smell of fresh bread
There's nothing that smells so good or tastes as good as fresh baked bread!
Yes, I'm one of the once a week bakers. After more than a few years, I still can't manage to let it cool completely before I have to have a slice - - or two.😄
Blessings! 💚
Trust me, a hot heel fresh from the oven with a good butter, so good to nosh down will the smell of fresh baked bread is still in your kitchen.
I cook multiple loaves! One always seems to disappear immediately! 🤣
Yep, we do 4 loaves a week in our house every Saturday. I always go for the heels. I love the bread crust.
Would love to top this bread with fresh creamy butter an fig preserves!!! Yimmy!!!💖
Sounds great! Thank you Donnie for watching
Who needs anything on fresh baked bread? So yummy as is! But if I must, some homemade apricot or raspberry jam would be mighty fine!
Sounds tasty to me
This will be precious when the grid goes off and I have to bake my bread in the chimney! Thank you from France!
I make bread for a local bakery and this bread looks delicious! I'm gonna have my husband get the dutch oven ready for me to try this! I would top it with fresh garden tomatoes, homegrown bacon, fresh garden lettuce, and a little dab of garlic scape pesto. Yum!
Hope yall enjoy and that sure sounds good
I add a small amount of water in a cup in the oven which adds a little steam which makes for a more delicate crust. Then butter the crust while it’s still warm ( TongueGasm )
Sounds good
Somebody knows old school brad making. I fill a pie tin with a half inch of water and put it on the bottom rack of the oven while the bread bakes. Old school is buttering the outer crust after the loaf comes out of the pan--it is supposed to soften the crust as the bread cools.
😂😂😂👏👏👏👏
This is a real American ‼️
I enjoy your cooking.
Please stay safe ,
I hope you are always healthy and live happily
with your family 😊
Thank you for always remembering our Military servicemen and women. For myself who grew up poor back in the late 50's and early 60's a glass of milk, simple butter and honey on homemade bread would have been a treat for us! Thanks for sharing your wonderful outdoor cooking skills, God bless ya'll..
This bread would be perfect for an open face roast beef sandwich with brown gravy!! Perfect sopping bread! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing recipe. God bless!
That has some good eats
I always place a roasting/cooling/trivet rack under the bread pan to prevent burning and thick hard crust when baking in a Dutch oven or camping pots. Always enjoy your videos!
Oh boy! This looks easy enough for me to make! I'm just a simple country girl so I will be topping mine with butter and maybe some honey 🙂
You made my day! Thanks for this recipe and for saluting our troops.... my younger son just got his first duty station and my husband and oldest son are retired/disabled..... here I go again 😂 (worried mom) God Bless you and your family! ❤
My topping for your home made bread is some good ol' oklahoma sand plum jelly! Just made a batch!!!♡
My mama & I made Sandhill Plum Jelly when I was just a kid.
YUM.
Awesome! I’ve wanted a bread recipe from you! My birthday is next week, I’m doing Kent’s steak and mushrooms (with herb butter) and I think I’ll try this bread with it!
I’d top this with homemade blackberry jam with some butter.
Happy early Birthday and we hope you enjoy
Happy birthday. Can I come over? 😊
Happy birthday and God bless
What time do you want us to show up. Does your table hold 200,000 or so?
Happy birthday
Love the video. This bread needs to be rubbed with butter as it comes out of the stove and then cut with red raspberry jam put on it. My grandparents approve!
My Mother made dozens of bread a week. They didn't last too long!!! LOL Love your shirts!!! LOL When I was younger all we needed was butter!!!! God bless, take care and stay healthy!!!!
Thank you both for the many hours of joy you have brought me over the years. I enjoy ALL my cast iron and it never disappoints. Bless you all for all the good things you do.
Hey Kent, that looks like a great, easy bread recipe. I always love the way freshly baking bread makes the house smell. It always reminds me of the holiday season. A great topping for that bread would be to smother it with garlic butter and a LOT of shredded mozzarella cheese in the last 3 or 4 minutes of baking...for that delicious, melty, goodness. Then, after slicing, serve it with some pico de gallo for a "healthy", bruschetta appetizer.
Kent represents what is great about the United States, thanks for being a great example for us men too!
As a Marine vet I salute you for caring about us Ole vets brother. Thank You for making these videos. They are all wonderful.
The bread looks great. Can’t be easy doing bread outdoors. My favorite topping would be homemade blackberry jelly.
That looks really good! Sometimes I use brown sugar in my bread to make it sweeter.
I always love watching your videos. Have been for years.
I love watching you cook and rearrange coals to get the temp just right. Home mad bread brings families together. Thank you for all you do. I love that the dogs are included in the prep, cooking and tasting!
My mom made bread once a week. My favorite was slathered with butter and topped with homemade apple butter. Never got any better than that.
Such a joy to watch you cook! I like to top my bread with some local honey or apple butter. But that loaf right there looks perfect for a grilled cheese sandwich with the garlic and onion powder in there! You have inspired me to attempt my first loaf of bread!
Loved this video! Going to make it as soon as I get yeast. Can’t wait to see how it turns out in my cast iron bread pan. I will be topping it with fresh butter and blueberry jam. Thanks!
Fresh bread begs to be topped with good butter. Then you get a good cup of coffee and you are all set! Simple is best.
So true!

It took us a couple of tries but now we make this bread twice a week and everyone loves it. We've made several of your recipes and they're all great! (still stubble with the sourdough starter though) Next up in your Carne Guisada
Made this bread in the oven the other day , it was so good. Thank you for the recipe
I'm new to watching your show and I just can sit and watch it all day, love it, love that you treat your pups to the food. It's peaked my wanting to do more cast iron cooking!!
I just love fresh baked bread, warm with butter. Also some freshly made strawberry or blackberry jelly would be an added bonus☺️🍞
There's nothing like home-baked bread. Adding garlic and onion and pouring butter into the crease on top before baking are wonderful ideas. A slice of it would be good all by itself (or just a little more butter spread on it.) You and your wife had me laughing out loud during "Storytime for the Chickens". Thank you for all your friendly and fun videos! 😊
I just doubled this recipe for two loaves (except for the yeast) and it’s my new favourite sandwich bread recipe for sure! Thank you Kent!
Glad you liked it!!
Yummy! Thank you so much for motivating me to make some bread. I am all about bread and salted butter 😊
I helped my grand daughter bake her first bread monday. This recipe is so easy and so good.
I have made bread for years indoors. Thanks for showing me how to make it in a Dutch oven! We put butter on slices of bread after cooking. And especially thanks for showing us your dogs and those chickens! I have chicken towels.
Thanks Deborah for taking time to watch
There is never a dull moment watching you create a dish! Please continue on offering your great recipes.
Hi Kent, Shannon, and furry pals! Thank you for sharing another fun, entertaining, and delicious recipe. We were blessed to have had two trees full of apricots this year. That meant we got to can a lot of sweet and tangy apricot jam...also known as "pure love" in our family. We're using ol' Mac & Stella Hughes' apricot jam recipe.
Once our bread is cooked (minus the onion and garlic powder), we're going to be topping it with a generous amount of room-temperature butter and some of our homemade "pure love". Each bite will put a smile on your face, guaranteed! :)
Fresh roasted garlic with butter, parsley, salt, pepper, and cheese that will be my topper 😋
That bread looked amazing and delicious. I'm a bread eater. I love to put olive oil and rosemary with a thin slab of butter. Great video.❤️💯
Woohoo! It's Cowboy Kent time 🤠
Thanks Jimmie for watching
You're going to make me want to become a baker Kent.
The pizza dough recipe was wonderful!
So, I'm going to try this one also.
Thanks for all you Two do!
Wow and wow! Congratulations and thank you!
Oh that bread looks wonderful especially when it’s warm right out of the dutch oven. Smother it with butter and homemade strawberry jam! Mmmmm good! Keep up the good work Kent and Shannon. God bless.
I so appreciate you two! What a wonderful blessing to us all- and this bread recipe...thank you so much for it. I am still hoping to purchase a signed cookbook from you one day- True Pioneers. Have a nice afternoon you guys, and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Our pleasure!
This looks delicious, and easy enough that I am going to try to make my 1st loaf of bread using this recipe. I think I will use a nice thick piece as the foundation of what sounds like a great "Open-Faced roast beef sandwich, with a side of mashed- taters all covered in brown gravy". Dang.. my mouth is watering already. Thanks Guys! Time to fix dinner!
Hope you enjoy and that sounds mighty tasty to me
That sounds awesome. If Kent’s ok with it could you video it a post a link? Think it could be interesting considering your first loaf.
@@joshuaharwell3685 LOL, I could have... If we hadn't eaten it all !!! I followed the full recipe and it was delicious.
Butter is the best thing on fresh bread! I love watching you cook! I love your recipes. Thank you for all your wisdom and talent.
Another amazing recipe from the cookie, definitely worth trying at home! I used to work at a Bar-B-Que joint during summer break in highschool and we made homemade bread every day, oh so good. The topping is super simple but it always turned out so glossy and buttery. It was sort of a clarified butter but put some garlic in there when you’re clarifying it and whatever herbs you like. Strain it all out and you have a very flavorful clarified butter that browns so well.
Thank you for all the great content!
We love bread: yeast, sourdough, old dough, biscuits, cornbread, w/w/out cracklin's, doesn't matter as long as we have fresh butter and blackberry jam/ preserves. Great on cornbread, too. Thanks, you two, for another great recipe and a nice giveaway.
Wow Kent, that does look good. I had already planned on making bread this Sunday for a living history Labor Day weekend. The best thing to put on top of that would be some good molasses and butter! Thanks for the great videos! Take care of Shannon and the pups. I hope the hens start laying soon. But a good chicken and dumpling episode is good too! 😉 Cheers!
Hope you enjoy the bread my friend and God bless you
Cowboy, fresh bread like this needs only one simple thing. BUTTER, Kerrygold butter. A big thing k steaming slice, that butter knife you had and Kerrygold butter. Everybody should take a step back out of the way!
We need more people like you guy's...
Thanks for the inspiration.
👍
I love bread. This bread was making my mouth water. Yummy!
God Bless you!
Thanks and God bless you
Hi Kent! Love the recipe!! I am definitely into the KISS method when it comes to outdoor cooking. I would top that warm bread with some home canned deer meat in gravy. When I can my deer meat, I put in a tablespoon of french onion soup mix in the quart jar and then add the meat. It makes it so tasty, and it would be so awesome over that garlic onion loaf in this video! Have a blessed day!
That’s a great idea. A lil SOS goes a long way.
What a pleasure to watch you cook and have fun, and honor our Vets-- God Bless you and yours
Hi Kent I watch you and Shannon, thank you for always mentioning and thanking service members. I appreciate it. I am a 100% service connected disabled veteran. I would definitely put homemade peach jam on the warm bread. Thanks again for the recipe. God bless you both.
This bread would go good topped with kerrygold butter.
Oh yes!
I love this channel cowboy gents and great food.. just amazing.. yeeeehaaaw!!
Thanks so much
@@CowboyKentRollins Thank you Good sir for all the great recipes you give us. God bless
Our pleasure and God bless you
Kent, I absolutely love your videos, as do my children. We have watched pretty much all of them(maybe missing about 5 or so). As to what would make this amazing looking bread even better would be some fresh butter and some homemade strawberry jam! Keep up the amazing work and looking forward to your next culinary masterpiece!
YOU ARE THE BEST Dr Mount
I think a good topping for your bread would be Bagel Sesame seasoning blend from Trader Joe’s. It has sea salt, garlic, and Onion that really jazzes up a sandwich. You may need to experiment with less Garlic and onion powder in your original recipe so you don’t overpower.
Sounds delicious
That is what I was going to say.
myself Butter and sorghum molasses a plus my dad if he were alive would dip in bacon 🥓 grease and eat away lol from Tammy
Enjoy watching you cook. Simple ingredients, delicious results. Confession time. Your bread pudding recipe is awesome. I put chopped pecans in it. Then used Praline Liquoer in the sauce. Instant hit. Thank you.
I would top this bread with a sunny side up egg, bacon, and tomatoes, and may even spread avocado on the bottom, sprinkled with everything bagel seasoning. Going to try this bread recipe this weekend. Thanks Cowboy Kent for your recipes, love the cookbook its been fun following your recipes!
Can you be my grandpa! :)
We are all family on our channel
That's what my son said a few weeks ago: 'Oh, that would be a great Grandpa!' 😊
OooWeee! I love me some fresh homemade bread!! Topped with warm butter and strawberry jam, there's nothing finer!!!
And I love the 'story time' with the hens, sometimes you have to remind them who's the boss!!!
Homemade bread brings back so many memories.. My favorite was lightly toasting the bread with garlic butter and making Spaghetti Sandwiches. Yes it sounds odd, but oh so good! But if we went camping there was nothing better than making those mountain pies, Pizza, Apple pie or a good ole cheese pie.. Thanks for the videos and the recipes always great!!
Some we forget the that the simplest recipes are absolutely the best hands down. I make a lot of kinds of bread and going back to the basic is always the best, thanks for reminding us all how the simple is the best! My boys are salivating!
Even if I never made anything Kent shared these videos would be a treasure but we have and these recipes make my mouth do a happy dance.
Thank you for what you do and how you do it Kent and the whole team!
This bread looks AMAZING!!!!!! You guys are the best 👌 💓
I would love butter and jam (any flavor, homemade of course) on top! I am an old hand at making bread but have never baked it in a Dutch oven outdoors. Though, I am planning to very soon. The onion powder and garlic powder sound delicious! Thanks for the tutorial, you are truly an inspiration!
Thanks Kent & Shan.
Wife and I made 'your' bread yesterday and it turned out delicious. We were wondering how the Garlic and Onion were going to do and the extra flavor was a fantastic addition.
Keep em' coming!
I just made peach butter. It would be amazing on this bread! Thank you both and God bless you!
Thank you Marla and God bless you
Heat up the skillet, put butter in, and fry a piece of that bread for about a minute per side. It would be terrific just like that, but you can add other coverings to it - I'll bet sprinkling it with either parmesan or shredded cheese would be really good. Thank you both for all your work on these clips; we've ALWAYS had great meals making your recipes.
Ohhhh I love me some homemade bread!!! I love making me a slice of toast in my cast iron skillet on the stove real quick with some fresh butter and peach or apricot preserves. Oh man that’s best snack or breakfast a person can ask for!!! Think I’ll go make me a piece now!!! 🍞
I can't wait to try this recipe. My topping would have to be some good homemade Mayhaw jelly. My grandmother made Mayhaw jelly every year when I was young and all the family would get at least one jar. I would put some good Kerrygold butter on the bread, heat it up in the toaster oven, then put the Mayhaw on top, and relive some childhood memories.
That looks absolutely delicious! I love homemade bread and topping it with some butter and jam or if we have lasagna/spaghetti I make garlic toast with fresh bread. 😋
Hi Mr Kent....that is a beautiful bread...thank you for the recipe....GOD bless❤
Kent as always I enjoy the simplicity that you use to show anyone can do this!!!! God Bless you and Shannon! I Love to top this type of bread with Guierre and white Extra sharp cheddar from cabot.
a bit of butter and broiler till golden on the face, just like french bread. Goes great with Chili, spagetti, and even a salad!
Fascinating recipe. Thanks for sharing!
That looks delicious! Butter would be great on bread. ❤️
This reminds me of my mom's home made warm bread with real butter and her stawberry freezer jam. The smell was wonderful.
Thanks for bring back great memories
What is freezer jam?
My goodness Kent! That bread looks so good! It’s definitely made with love! I think I would add more butter and maybe some honey. Or maybe brown sugar. Mmm. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I love fresh baked bread. Boysenberry Jalapeño preserves is what I would top my bread with!
Anyone can have butter and that would be tasty, but bread like this deserves something just as special as the bread!
