Get yourself and the bike looked after. I had a severe crash 5 years ago and started riding this year again. Most important part is to get back on it. If there is fear, work towards it, but get back on the bike. Also, there are kinds 2 motorcyclists, those who crashed and those who lie.

I hope you're OK. Get back in that saddle as soon as possible. I went down 3 yrs ago, and I couldn't ride again for 6 months. It was hard to get back out there
Three years ago for me. Not a good moment, and after more than 20 years riding I was hoping to avoid it. But I got back on as quick as I could and I believe I’m better for it in a number of ways - as a rider, yes, but maybe it also gave me a valuable sense of the need to look after my body better. So I’m taking better care of it. The accident was not my fault. Less than 2 months before I was on another bike, but a year of real pain and then a year of waiting to feel better. That doesn’t work so this year I started using dumbbells and got myself back towards some kind of fitness. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Fellow DFW rider here. Seriously considering the Tuareg and appreciate your review. Usually spend my summers in the Rockies, often in Colorado, so I’ll keep an eye out for ya on the Aprilia….ride safe!
Outback Motortek's skid plate partially addresses the heat issue, as it is clearly designed with good ventilation in mind. In contrast, SW-Motech and others tend to trap heat between the skid plate and the engine near the catalytic converter. While decat pipes would be the best solution, they aren’t a viable option here in the EU. Additionally, the comfort seat is actually less comfortable than the standard one 🙂. Best option is standard one with Coolcover.
Got a t7 because of a good deal at my local yamaha dealer, but man if i could choose again, the tuareg would be a great choice, i realy ride ofroad once a year
currently own a 2023 and have just reached 10k miles on it! i love it so much i may trade it in to upgrade to the 2025 rally! absolutely the perfect bike for those who want to off road with a big bike
Update and not a good one. after reading the ADV rider forum and the tuareg 660 suspension extravaganza thread i got my front forks checked. my shim stacks were crushed. seems majority (possibly all) of the bikes have a piston in the fork installed incorrectly. Aprilia and KYB know about this but refuse to warranty it.
I took this bike out for a ride last month. I love it! It is by far my favorite Swiss army knife bike. I live in Medellin, and luckily, I have a shop and dealer less than a mile away from me. This bike, or the Afica Twin, will likely be my next purchase. I have another bike a cruiser in a non-cruiser country where you split lanes and spider at stops to get ahead of everyone. At first, it was scary. Now, it's an adventure. With the Aprila and my Yamaha Bolt, if one breaks, I need to wait about a month or so to get the parts. So one can back the other one up if it is critically broken. Here, there is a 30% tariff on all motorcycles and cars. So it is expensive here.
I keep a toiletry bag in my office for the days when I ride in because The Hubster let me know when I sweat during rides, it's like I just walked into the house following a two-hour workout 😂 The Aprilias are absolutely beautiful machines. Denton rider here, and I swear the Dallas drivers are 100% bat shite when it comes to the roadways. Keep staying safe! Avoid 635!
I felt like a pos after I watched one of his videos on cruisers the day I bought my first bike (06 Suzuki Boulevard s50). Now 31, with a Super Tenere and this popped up on my recomended.. thought I'd feel the same after watching for having an ADV 😂
9 to 10 hours in the saddle would be 400 miles or so. At 1000 miles this bike is still brand new, most people can put 1000 miles on it in 2 weekend rides. Please do another review when you hit 5000 miles.
Spec wise this thing kicks the Tenere T7's ass lol but everyone is wary of Aprilia reliability but this 660 is understressed and detuned compared to the RS. Think Aprilia Shiver/Dorso/Capnacord... those run forever and pack on miles.
I've been told by a local suspension guy that the later 24 models had the upside down left fork damping piston issue fixed. Apparently Desert X use same fork and has same issue, was a KYB thing
Got told dealer quotes it at like .3-.4hr service time so figure 50 bucks minimum to turn your service light off. Think you have 600 mile then every 6000 miles, valves every 12k? So annoying but not quite MX race bike intervals either
Hey yammie and comments I have a question. When shopping for a used bike what price range for mileage for different types of bikes. I'm looking to get my first bike soon and not trying to get something new but I don't want something that's gonna be replaced a month in but something that I can drop a couple times. Some of the places I've looked at so far have mileage of like 25k-50k miles and I don't know if it's an equivalent to a car's first 100k miles or if it's nearing the end of the bike's life. So basically I'm asking what mileage I should stay away from looking at for used bikes
Other reviewers that paid with their own money rave about the Aprilia Tuareg 660. And facts don't lie. It is superior to T7, the benchmark standard for this genre, in every way, except proven reliability, and even then it is not far behind. The heat generated on your leg could be annoying in hot countries. But, which bike is perfect!? This one, nearly is.
The thing with the service light would keep me away from buying this bike. Also Aprilia actively prevents customers to mess with the onboard diagnosis by making P.A.D.S. only available for dealers. It is a no go for an adventure bike. On the other hand Yamaha allows to clear service intervall just by clicking in the menu & allows every customer access to the on board diagnosis. Its like selling a house and keeping the keys for the basement, just plain stupid.
Why buy an adventure bike to ride on the road? a sports/tourer like a tracer will eat this this for breakfast in every department, this whole wannabe adventure fad segment will be over soon hopefully...
The answer to your question can be "riders comfort". It is something that usually gets more and more important with age. Age also makes "eating other bikes for breakfast" sond really childish. Other peoples bikes becomes less and less important (unless you are just happy to meet a fellow biker and talk about bikes), and your own experience, and making sure you really having a nice time, more important.
I bought an ADV for primarily pavement cause I got hurt on my cruiser hitting holes, expansion joints and pavement defects too many times. I ride a DRZ off-road and like the way a long-travel suspension works, so I bought a VStrom 1000 for the street and gravel roads and haven’t regretted it.
Did you double check the oil capacity? The service book says 2700cc but the bike actually takes 2300cc. Aprilia admitted that the service book is incorrect. Aprilia 😏
this always reminds me of someone giving up surfing shortboards for a longboard. Of course the longboards are considerably more expensive, attract a more "mature" crowd and tend to run in groups of "loggers". Giving up all the advantages of shortboarding for a more relaxed, easy, less physical and sipping starbucks by the firepit pre-paddle-out ritual, always signals (to me at least) a sort-of "giving-up" of the shortboard lifestyle. maybe this is a natural evolution. Myself: 6'6" JC Hawaii by John Carper straight outta the North Shore for life! I'm in my 60's and still ride/commute on a sport bike in Orange County, CA. If Aprilia offered me a free Tuareg id defer it to a "dad bike" enthusiast, lol
As a mature age beginner rider from Australia I would like to thank you for your content. I really enjoy your channel and applaud your views on safety

Evolving Papa Yam indeed
Been riding for 12 years. Had my first crash last night. Beat up banged up and sore but me and the bike will both ride again
this is the way

Take care of yourself - heal up quickly. I crashed a month or two ago and I feel you.

Hey, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 is the best bike I ever had... When mine will be done, I'll seriously think to go for a second one! ✌
Outback Motortek's skid plate partially addresses the heat issue, as it is clearly designed with good ventilation in mind. The cool cover is a great option, love mine
I just paid full cash for a Suzuki GSX-8R. First bike in 20 years. The only thing I am having added are frame sliders and side bags. Can’t wait.
“Some 9-10 hour days on the bike” and you still only have 1000 miles? What, were you just sitting in your driveway?
It’s not crashed into an unsuspecting motorist so yeah potentially
😂
He was lounging on the couch.
Testing the seat without the inconvenience of going out 😂

I love Aprilia bikes they are all so pretty

Can't wait for the track day with this bike 😅
Nice - just (re)subscribed... Looking forward to more content on the Tuareg. 🌟
Those graphics really spice the bike up!
Come ride it in italy! There in the US you dont have what we call "misto stretto", you should come and try it out!
I keep a toiletry bag in my office for the days when I ride in because The Hubster let me know when I sweat during rides, it's like I just walked into the house following a two-hour workout 😂 The Aprilias are absolutely beautiful machines.

Any chances for a meet and greet or group ride in Colorado? I live in Colorado and it would be super cool to meet or say hey.
It’s a swiss pocket knife ❤a really nice one 😊
Quick w to the guy in the truck at 3:19 who was going slow and let you pass
My first bike is a himalayan 450. I think my second will be the Tuareg.

Would be really cool if you could try Kove 800X now that you drive a tuareg! Very interested in comparison!
Lolz, finally figured out how to work cruise control. It is the same on the giveaway RS660 and could never figure it out.
😂 #4,, Great review Noober.
Who made the Tail caddy and 🤌quanto?
Come through the Fort Collins CO area! I do the exact type of ADV riding you’re interested in (2020 Tiger 900 Rally, 31 year “old man” now)
Spec wise this thing kicks the Tenere T7's ass lol but everyone is wary of Aprilia reliability but this 660 is understressed and detuned compared to the RS.
Think Aprilia Shiver/Dorso/Capnacord... those run forever and pack on miles.
That's RTV oozing from the engine. My Hyper 698 has it too.
Shout out from London
9:40 Where is this you’re riding? I live in North Dallas and am always on the lookout for fun places to ride.
This shows you don't have to crater your wallet to have a good touring experience. Really love that vibrant colorway.
Why did you move from Austin the DFW? 😬
I might have bought this bike but I can’t get over the name: Twareg?
Easy fix…just pronounce it Tour-reg! That is what I did for the first several months with mine.
@ 😂👍🏻
Interested to hear what was the main reason why you chose this over the Tiger 900?
The Aprilia was given to him.
😉
@ I was hoping it was something slightly less commercial lol
Going to get the front fork suspension issue fixed? Shame Aprilia hasn't addressed this as it affects every Tuareg made
I've been told by a local suspension guy that the later 24 models had the upside down left fork damping piston issue fixed. Apparently Desert X use same fork and has same issue, was a KYB thing
Heat on the right leg might, might be because of the catalytic converter that's staring right there at your right leg... maybe
Wasnt too long ago, Noob was crying over every "Dad bike" on the road and screaming Turbo Busa at every man, woman, and child he encountered.
Nice casio
What kind of rpm's does it turn at 70 mph - 75 mph?
Is there not a button combo to reset the service light yourself?
No. Dealer only via PADS.
@sirosisofliverr that sucks. A reason not to buy Aprilia then.
Got told dealer quotes it at like .3-.4hr service time so figure 50 bucks minimum to turn your service light off. Think you have 600 mile then every 6000 miles, valves every 12k? So annoying but not quite MX race bike intervals either

Never listen to a review, when the reviewer got the bike for free from aprillia.... even if he wanted to he could not give the bike a shit review
Other reviewers that paid with their own money rave about the Aprilia Tuareg 660. And facts don't lie. @ go ahead and buy it
@@guzzimanI tend to agree. I take all reviews with grain of salt, many of these were provided by the manufacturer.
Oil filters should only be hand tightened.
Milking that sponsor!
Its not a sponsor? They gave him the bike and had no terms
Stop hatin bro

That’s 1600kms i guess 🤔
Yeah life is crazy don’t have time to dial the suspension… yeah I’m going on big long day trips
Wait wait wait , giving you the motorcycle?
As in, manufacturing it, or you got it for free?
Its funny you became what you trashed, a pavement dad on an adv 😂
You don't have the Fanttik tire inflator? 🤔 just wondering why promote stuff if you don't believe in the product. Well we know.
1.4 Mio subs...for the douchiest content on the topic. You didn't do any mods, ok. How about insurance?
Middkeweight bikes are so much cheaper to own
its on par or worse than the tenere 700 in every single way.. but 50% more expensive

usually, such discrepancy is associated to measures with/without oil filter...
2700cc is for factory fill, 2300cc is oil and filter change capacity.
Everybody wants an Aprilla, until they own a Aprilla.
3k miles on an rs 660 with no issues yet
I want mine back is amazing.
It got stolen in ky. Thank god for insurance. @Cthooligan
Have you owned an Aprilia?
I hear mostly good things!
Do you, or have you owned one? Interested in your experience. Thanks
@d.a3446 ive ownedd 4 different bikes.
1000 miles is nothing. One can do it over weekend. Let's see what you think after 10K - that would be the proper review.
that's a hideous looking bike tbh
Too weak, too slow
i have one, it ain't slow lol
Not all bikes are about thinking you're Rickey Racer on the street.
😂
160mpvh ain't slow

The dash is the worst thing ever. They could have just used the one from Tuono and it would have been much better. And Make Filler Caps FIXED Again 🫡
