Changing the coil pack and spark plugs on the Vauxhall 1.4 ecotec engine

- Today is Saturday . On Monday , I bought a Vauxhall as it should be more economical than my other cars. This is necessary because soon I’ll be driving 170 miles a day for work.
This car is fitted with the 1.4 ecotec engine. On Friday, I had to drive to Gatwick . Previously I’d only driven about 150 miles.
About 25 miles from Gatwick , on the M25, the engine check light came on. Immediately it was obvious there was less power. The car stumbled and hesitated, and acceleration was very difficult. Nevertheless , I got there and indeed back home, although it was a very stressful journey .
When I got home, I used my diagnostic equipment, which basically led me to conclude that the coil pack was bad. This is a very well known issue with this and other similar Vauxhall engines.
This is how to replace the coil pack and spark plugs.
Watch along and you’ll find out how to do it yourself.

Very helpful thanks.
Ooowee.... very good👏
Lovely😊
I changed sparkplugs yesterday. Engine acting weird.oh yes. One of the terminals on the sparkplug had been corroded away
Hope the video helped. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment
💪👍
I’ve had no problems with my corsa and I’ve done more than 100,000 miles. Good to know though
You dont torque the plugs in?
No, it’s not necessary. The plugs just need to be snugged down. They are not designed to be torqued down. They have tapered seat and washers.
Spark plugs are?
Bosch FR91X
Is the vectors the same do you think?
You mean the vectra? I think it depends on the engine. Not so bad as the corsa range.
Is it only the 1.4?
No it’s pretty much all of them
There are loads of cheap coils arround and they are cr@p
I agree. Best to buy Oem if you can afford it
Opel see to have poor build quality don’t they?
In many ways, yes
Vauxhall coils are the worst!
Don’t know about that, but I agree they’re pretty poor.
Low mileage and problems. Typical build quality.
Vauxhall’s new vehicle warranty ensures your peace of mind against material or manufacturing defects for three years (unlimited mileage for the first 12 months and subject to a total mileage limit of 60,000 miles from first registration). This applies to all cars and vans except Vivaro and New Movano, the additional warranty for which carries a limit of 100,000 miles from first registration.
If it has lasted outside it's warranty, Vauxhall doesn't care
