I put one on my 325 and removed it, it ran worse some days and had less power sometimes aswell, the only good thing was the 7k rpm limiter, it sounded amazing haha
thats the only thing it does! it makes it more rev. the power out put stays where it was before. like if you have the power at 5500 rpm.. you still will have it at the 5500 rpm with the chip.
yeah just set the limit to 7000,but ur car still get the max power at 5k so its no point to rev that high,and btw its for like 316-318's cause they are slower and u can feel that it actually helped lol

You should have just made some videos on how fast you accelarate with a phone app or something and a video of the accelaration. It would be easier than talking 5 minutes that you are not sure if the car feels faster or not.
For anyone still wondering, the reason people get the chips is because it helps 0-60 time, it raises the limiter and hits 60 at the very end of second gear on my e36 and it takes 0-60 down by 2 seconds
Sorry to tell u but chips are FAKE. I work on cars daily they are basically meant to scam the people who don’t know that much about cars. The only way to change a cars characteristics electrically is buying a performance ecu entirely or a actual tune.
@@thats.ant1210 nah they don’t enhance performance as I said, they raise the RPM limiter to 7200 instead of 6500 which allows you to stay in a gear longer which lets you hit. 100kph in second gear so it takes 0-100 down to 7 seconds because you don’t have to shift into it
@@thats.ant1210 That is only true for additional chips like some dumb piggybacks you get on ebay that plug onto the MAF, temp sensor or something like that, those just mostly make your car run like crap or pig rich, often loosing power (there's few exceptions like chips for some turbo cars that hook to turbo solenoid or pressure sensor and lie to ecu to raise boost pressure, you do see power gains, but with no fuel or timing adjustment you can fuck up your engine, but I guess the power increase claim is real at least), but on the E36 what he replaced here is the EPROM (Aka chip that can store data) that stores the actual tune file, so by replacing the chip he's also replacing the tune file in the car, it was the way you remapped a car in the 90's, that's how you get an actual tune on an obd1 e36, even the legit tunes from Turner, Dinan, AC schnitzer, or other reputable companies are chips you replace in the DME that look exactly like the ones in the video. So no, chips aren't fake, because there's one from factory, what people call power chips can be many different things, from dumb placebo effect stuff, from stuff that does affect the way your car run but make it run like shit instead of better, from chips that increase your power but will blow up your engine, to real solutions that are the proper way to do things like the e36 chips, they're not all equal. Most people actually say the Ebay chips are the same as the turner motorsport ones, they were not read locked meaning anyone with the right devices to read and write chips like that could just copy the file from the turner chip, paste it onto a blank EPROM chip, and now they can sell the copy for dirt cheap since they barely did any work, and the blank chips cost almost nothing. I really do think the tune file in those Ebay chips is fine, the only thing that worries me is the quality and longevity of the blank chip they used to paste the tune on, thing could die at any moment and leave you stranded.

This does not work! I thought you are a mechanic my friend. N/A engines are measureing the fuel air ratio by Lambda and then adapt it. If you make the fuel air ratio richer... your engine will be running shit. less rich your engine will have a slight increase, but your valves will die and maybe no increase at all. Air fuel ratio can only be successfully managed by a Turbo. You can get more power by camshaft and then optimized ecu for that camshaft. But expect it to run shit on idle if you do that. My E30 does that for example.

I have a 97 328i gonna do some free mods.. air box baffle removal electric fan instead of clutch fan. And a 75 shot of Nos I have all the stuff extra from my race truck and car so why not.. fyi we put a 75 shot of Nos on my buddy's 325 binw stock it ran 15.20s and on the Nos it ran 13.60s

Kid's please don't buy ready tunes especialy for a car that is 30 years old..save a bit of money and have someone do it for you. It's better to spend 100 bucks for someone to tune it right than to break your car with this cheap chinese ready ones and spend much more fixing or even buying a new car...
lol, 20+ hp?? more like 7-8 on a stock car. I got 30 extra hp from supersprint headers, custom SS exhaust, CAI with a proper heat shield and a good remap. The remap alone will give you 8bhp at most, if it's from a good retailer, 150-200 bucks.

It's not USD 20 as your insurance premium increases as you've 'modded' your engine, so it will be MUCH more than that. At least, that's how it works in the UK. If you don't inform your insurance and they find out you've altered the car when you've had an accident they pay out nothing.

But its not worth it at all. Use sport intake if there is a supercharger og turbo, if not, theres is no point. Use the money on other things
I removed my ecu in my audi rs5 and i soldered some potatoe chips in my ecu and it gave me 60+hp and 120tq .. easy mod you should try soldering your soul into your ecu probably gain 200hp
Definitely not Be very careful, these chips don't do anything but raise your rev limiter, if you already have an older/somewhat more worn engine then this raise in rev limiter could literally shake your engine apart

Apart from testing the car on a dyno, there are simple objective ways to see if the performance has changed. "Feeling it" isn't one of them.

Just map it properly, from a m52b20 mapped i get 165-170 hp, rev limiter on 7250, and it has pop n bang
