I love this knife so much I bought an extra one. I have a couple of ZT Sinkevich knives and he is one of my favorite designers. The Kershaw is less expensive so I don't feel like I need to baby it and I can carry it without worrying about losing it. I highly recommend it.

D2 is the reason I haven't bought one. I hate D2. I hate that it has taken the market by storm. I would have been so happy with a stonewashed 14C28N here.

I've been happy with the D2 knives I've gotten so far, but I agree, D2 is WAY overused currently. Would definitely like more 14C28N, 440C, etc.

@@lostsailor2498 I like both, and even 6190 and 154CM, and S30, and S35 of course. I have never noticed any difference with regard to oxidation. I live on the coast in BC.

I just got one of these, but I have had many other D2 knives. I live on the 'Wet Coast', in Vancouver, BC or Vancouver Island, right on the Pacific coast in both cases. I have NEVER had any problems with D2, and I bicycle and hike up and down the coast and even sea kayak. I don't get the D2 paranoia.

I put Froglube paste on my D2 and haven't had any problems . I wished that the ZT 0450 wasa quarter inch longer in the handle and blade . At least this one has a rounded butt .

So the sub framelock is anchored to the G10, and this has no steel liner; is that correct? I really like edc knives without liners. In most cases, I'll never need the rigidity of steel liners, and it saves so much weight, not to mention cost to the manufacturer which is usually carried over to the final pricetag. I do wish this guy cost a tad less since it's an import, but it also has a big name designer attached, and they gotta get paid too, so it is what it is. This was a good review. I may pick this up on sale for 50 or so. SMKW puts this on flash sale from time to time for about that. Thanks for the video.

No, this is a Chinese made knife. It represents the highest rung of Kershaws imported line, along with knives like the Norad and Endgame. Kershaw has not put out a new USA made design in some time, and I don't expect to see one anytime soon.

$70 is too much for Chinese D2. There are better versions of D2 with better heat treatments but they still don't have the corrosion resistance.

Just because D2 is being offered on budget knives these days, that doesn't make it a lower grade steel. People are getting spoiled, and yes, since it is being made in China, its cheaper to produce, but D2 is an excellent steel that performs very well and when paired with good construction, it is still worthy of a high price tag. Nitro-V fetches a premium because it's new and exciting, but it's edge retention is inferior to D2. Even 154CM offers less edge retention, which seems to be the priority for most people on an edc knife. Other things may be more balanced, but everything is a tradeoff. There is no perfect steel yet, but I hear good things about CPM-Magnacut.

@@kerryrwac very true, but his designs suck imo. That's one example of a D2 knife thats overpriced. No wonder why his stuff is on clearance on every site.
