The fact that danny was seen as a villain after All done and dusted and we got Sansa the dumbest stark in the north as queen . Is what makes the ending the worst …
Sansa, was the architect of her family's destruction. If it wasn't for her blind devotion to psychopath Jeffery. Her dreams of being his Queen. Littlefinger's scheme, to start a war between. The Starks and Lannisters. Wouldn't have been possible.
I would argue that Sansa is smart because she had the ability to change from a little mouse/rat, to the shrewd, cunning, competent person she is at the end of the show. After all, the genius of a person is not exactly exciting by itself, but it is their ability to endure and transform their imperfections into distinguished qualities that makes them worthwhile to study. @nightmoose
At first I thought Dany was going to have a clever strategy to deal with the fleet without going out in the open, but she just rushes at them and gets away with it just because it's her and Drogon. Viserion and Rhaegal were really done dirty.
@@thegoldentb7596 Both caught by surprise by previously unknown weapons. She pulled an Aegon and Balerion. Instead of it being night time and Harrenhal being destroyed. She used the sun to hide from her enemy Aegon used the moon to hide from his enemy both destroyed their intended target Aegon Harrenhal and Dany the iron fleet.
You can't really compare Drogon to Balerion. Drogon was a rather small dragon even compared to the dragons of the Targaryens (not to speak of Old Valerya, of which we have little information). Drogon was only a few years old at this point, while Balerion was almost a century.
She didn't use the sun just like Aegon didn't use the moon. In both cases they flew right above the enemy and plunged down to rain fire. If anything she used the cloud cover to get right above them. Any advantage she had with the sun was lost the moment Euron spotted her because it was too cloudy for the sunlight to matter. After getting right in their midst you could argue she used speed and movement to never let a scorpion get the right aim (but with how effective they'd been in the previous episodes, they should've managed to take at least one shot if the plot armor wasn't so thick lmao).
Fans “How did Euron kill Rhaegal?” Producers “Dragons are no match for ballista!” Fans “But then how did Daenarys beat the iron fleet?” Producers “Ballista are no match for a dragon!” Fans “Errr... what?”
@@jimmie1142 Still not really believable. A fleet of ships would never be able to ambush anything in the air. Danny and her dragons should have been able to see them well before she entered their range.
To this day, i will never understand why D&D decided to kill off Rhaegal the previous episode rather than this one. Two dragons destroying the iron fleet and king’s landing defenses and one scorpion getting a lucky shot and killing Rhaegal, therefore making Daenerys go crazy, feels a lot more believable than what we got.
not gonna lie she didn’t even need to burn the iron fleet they were kinda pointless tbh cuz she coulda surrendered the city without destroying them, however I think she purposely prioritized them first out of justice for rhaegal
Yep, Jon could have been on Rhaegal and they are perched on the city wall, and the bells are ringing, the city is screaming for mercy, and one dumb Lannister looses a scorpion bolt hitting Rhaegal, Dany sees Rhaegal fall off the wall and fears Jon and Rhaegal are dead, and it's the final straw for her. She destroys King's Landing. Afterwards, she finds out Rhaegal was able to fall to the ground without crushing Jon, and Dany feels shame for her actions.
I love that Jamie mentioned her having 3 to Cersei after seeing Drogon at Highgarden. Yeah, she had 3, but she only needed one to destroy you. Still woulda been nice if Rhaegal hadn’t died so ridiculously just to try to even the show’s playing field,
It’s so unnecessary. If they wanted Rhaegal out of the picture for the King’s Landing fight they could have just had him stay with Jon at Winterfell. Jon is his rider after all and it would have made sense to have a dragon escort the Northern army into enemy territory all the way to King’s Landing
I never really minded that Rhaegal was felled by the scorpion, but the way it happened was really dumb, like, they *knew* that their enemy were in possession of weapons that could inflict damage on dragons and they still just trotted south without a care in the world. That is mostly the fault of the final seasons being such rush-jobs though. I think it would have been much more interesting if, after a more lengthy campaign both before and after the white walkers, the scorpions would become ever more present. At the Field of Fire 2.0 there was only one, they hit but it didn't kill. So next engagement they bring a few more, say something like 4-8. Daenerys knowing they exist succesfully spot them using Dothraki scouts and have her dragons evade them. At the truce meeting Cersei correctly figures that Daenerys lost a Dragon in the north (another dumb thing that she even brought both her remaining dragons, basically screaming "one of my dragons died, lol" but whatever). Anyway, Cersei figures that while Daenerys is busy in the north they can mass-produce the scorpion, make some sort of maneuver to lure the dragons into position and then kill Rhaegal through sheer overwhelming firepower. That sequence of events would at least feel deserved because a logical development had been allowed to progress in steps along with the story of their war.
Carnage would be even fun and faster...like 3 lawn mowers working back to back had there been three...cersei would have had petrified to death with her pis and pee trying to flee her body...hahaha
These were actually the right tactics to use. For one - scorpions on ships rocking in the waves should never have been so accurate, except by numbers. If you're on a dragon and you're going to fight that... what do you do? Take cover. Fly right out of the sun, right into the middle of them, moving fast and laterally. Don't give them a chance to aim. This was awesome not because the scorpions were nerfed more than they should've been, but because the tactics were right to fight them. I think the show got this part right.
As I remember from USAF doctrine back in the 1980, this was known as ‘the advantage of maneuver’. And a dragon is VERY maneuverable, especially once it and rider know to look for Scorpion bolts and dodge.
Well you think wrong! First of all she doesn’t even come out of the sun, it’s cloudy everywhere, so what’re you saying are the right tactics. Even if she did come out of the sun it wouldn’t be blinding to everyone.
My question is why didn’t Dany utilize Drogon’s black scales to camouflage into the darkness of the night so they couldn’t see him, a deadly fire breathing shadow like Toothless from how to train your dragon
@@manpq670 Really? Tell me, what's harder to see in the dark: dark, ungodly fast and soundless Spears shot at you, or you know, a large, fire breathing flying lizard?
The writing wasn't perfect but it was acceptable. Dany and Drogon both have experience with being shot at. Serves to reason, that they got better at avoiding them. Can you imagine how hard it would be for Dany to dodge them at night? At least during the day, she used the sun behind her to blind them.
bruh im no tactician and all i saw was a shadiversity video one time... but I could plan a better defense against the shambling dead... but to be honest I wouldn't have lost one of the dragons in a suicide mission when you could have just made pick go and either bite one or grab it then swoop out with amazingly three whole ass dragons and 0 causality

Ppl don’t realize how smart Dany was in this battle. She learned after both dragons were killed that they aren’t unbeatable and changed her entire approach. She started to swoop from the clouds and take advantage of her dragons speed. One of the best moves she could have ever done.

This was extremely disappointing. For just so many reasons. The other dragon got ripped apart by these ballistae, and all of a sudden they're terrible. Coming from the Sun was cool, but the whole golden company buildup was just pointless. Many missed opportunities.
@@punkrockdavid exactly. Drogon spent his entire life free and unchained, living in the wild. He was more in tune to his senses than rhagel who had spent time locked up
I mean to be fair I don't know why they built up the golden company. Literally everytime a blackfyre came to westeros with the golden company at their back they were soundly crushed by the targaryens and this was at a point in history when all the dragons had long died out. They're a great mercenary company but no match for a full army of Westerosi knights.
There was no point in the Golden Company, it was stupid to build them up just to have them defeated in 12 seconds. In season 7 it's like the writers hinted that the Golden Company would turn on Cersei but instead they decided to subvert our expectations. They also planted seeds that Dany would end up pregnant last season it kept being brought up how she couldn't have children they made it seem like she would eventually but that too was to subvert expectations. Also in season 7 it kept being said how untrustworthy euron was only to have him completely devoted to Cersei which is against his nature but again it was to subvert our expectations.
They just went with maximum subversion and just ended up in perversion. Like the Night King and the army of the dead. First scene of the entire show white walkers. Huh subplot all series and then meh one episode should do say D & D. Idiots. Also why should a Stark always been in winterfell? I thought itd be great if basically Winterfell was very of being lost when Bran used the seer with the tree to discover and exit that enables them to fall back to the Reeds. From there they split half in a fighting retreat to the south the other to Dragonstone to get more glass. As the southern army arrives Cersei declares she won't help despite Jamies pleas. You finally see the light go up in his eyes and the light go her die (bs he was so besotted he couldn't see right, when he was already on redeem arc). The Golden company use that as the excuse to switch sides and you see them mfs slice through the dead like they are a birthday cake. Then the WW intervene and the tide turns again despite going toe to toe with incorrect weapons. Half the lannister army joins Jamie but still desperate stuff. The Night King even lands with Viserion into the damaged throne room from THAT fighting in a power move. When all seems lost the other half from dragon stone reappears with a pincer from Dorne on the other side WIth upgraded spear blades of dragon glass. Jon gets to fight the Night King but gets hit but all his lieutenants have been killed or are fighting. He goes to deliver the killing blow and is blocked by a shattering needle. By time he realises what just happened the valerian knife hits his chest and poof. Two to three episodes of carnage and it stretched as far as KL . Yes probably no budget but some ice spiders too. Oh and what does the horn do? Nobody knows. Waste of time.
Could be Euron blowing smoke, but more likely awful script writing as we saw throughout the final seasons of GoT. The Iron Islands were a resource poor region (aside from iron) and the Iron Fleet had never been more than around 100 ships in the past. Even with Lannister help, there's no way Euron could assemble a fleet of more than maybe 150-200 tops, let alone 1,000. Also weird that Euron had complete naval superiority by this point and his only real danger was Daenerys and her dragons, yet somehow he only had a small number of scorpions, which were the only known defense against dragons. One would have thought he's have every ship with at least one, focusing everything he had trying to take out any dragons.
2:18 - so you're telling me those guys at the top of the gate next to the ballistas WHICH OVERLOOK THE CITY, arent aware/can't see that a dragon has started attacking THE CITY behind them!?
@Destination Unknown 40,000 Dothraki screamers land on our shores. We hole up in our castles. A wise move, only a fool would meet the Dothraki on an open field. How long do the people stand behind their cowardly king hiding behind stone walls? When do they decide a Targaryen is the rightful monarch after all?
I never really understood how ballistas of all things were so accurate that they could take down a dragon. You would need massive volleys because I'm pretty sure a dragon is much more maneuverable compared to WW2 bombers facing entire anti aircraft batteries with flak. Must have been one helluva lucky shot when they took down the other dragon.
They were ambushed By the iron fleet because someone snitched, I don't really see any other reason How They were able to find the spot to ambush Daenerys&her fleet unless someone slipped them a map and directions
The biggest ballistas could hit a stationary target at 4000 feet but it was a parabolic shooting motion, not a straight one as shown in the serie. Also they were not that accurate, especially on a boat since there would still be some movement even with the anchor dropped. Anyway the show never did any research on war since they don't use trenches in front of castles and charge an undead army with light cavalry.
At least they showed the true power of dragons, Drogon was literally blowing up the ships with his flames. Would have been more awesome seeing all three of them, but they fucked it all up.
I adore watching a dragon, especially one as well-designed as Drogon, tear apart an armada of ships, but it annoys me so much when they inaccurately say ‘Fire’ after correctly saying ‘Loose’ throughout the entire rest of the series
I don’t care how stupid everyone thinks this scene is.. I can’t help but to come back to it. The music, the cinematography, Drogon appearing from the skies. It’s all stunning
This is one of the most ridiculous scenes. If only her and the dragon was that angry the night the white walkers attacked, they could have burned all the zombies before a spear could be thrown at them.
Savings Danny in the fighting pit in Meereen, burning Jamie’s army, burning the fleets, saving Jon and his crew from White Walkers, fighting in the long night against undead Viserion, laying waste to Kings Landing. Drogon put in the most work in GoT and probably will remain the most iconic dragon.
Not that Season 8 isn't a dumpster fire... I gained a little more respect for this scene in rewatching it. Dany knows the direction her enemies expect for her approach. On a dragon, her first advantage is mobility. She chooses the direction of approach and comes at an angle where they have to completely re-aim. Notice that the first thing they have to do is turn the scorpions. That gives her the advantage of not facing an initial barrage... just a quick shot or two. From there, she can avoid with lateral movements and direct her fire power for suppression. When she turns her attention to the castle walls, she flies low and fast. It requires the scorpion crews to push their weapons to extremes for the low angle. It takes a moment to re-aim and that gives an initial advantage. As soon as they fire, she goes high. Now, she just has to get to them before they reload... and she does. After that, the castle is hers... all of the scorpions were aimed outward. Coming from the inside makes them easy prey.
Dragon is a big target, they only take 2-5 seconds to aim and fire and 70+ spears in her direction makes virtually no gap for drogon to squeeze through without getting hit. Attacking the Bay was just stupid at all, there would be no line of sight if she attacked kingslanding first, forcing eurons men to either leave or disembark.
@@francisbalfour1243 drogon may be a big target, but even with a setup like a ballista, those bolts have an insane drop off and on a costal city? Forget about it. The breeze would work against them on even the clearest, still day. Drogon moves at the speed of a small plane, he absolutely zips by, so trying to aim and hit a fast target moving erratically with limited maneuverability on your end would make it a statistical game that's not in your favor, even numerically. The show does little right this season, but establishing, at least now, that the Scorpion ballista has to to be manned by a full team and requires a crank to rotate is more than enough to sell how Dany beats them here. Rhaegal getting killed the way he did was a fluke, just absolute bullshit for the sake of drama, something game of thrones used to be so much better than
This was such a beautiful scene for dany. I can feel her just wanting to kill all of them for the hurt she went thru..... she had loyal soldiers to defend her... she became the mad queen but can you blame her??..
Although this is a terribly written season (I will never forgive what they did to Rhaegal or Dany), it absolutely gave us some stunning scenes. It still makes me nervous watching this part, even thought I know Drogon makes it out okay! Speaking of Rhaegal, it annoys me how he and Jon clearly bonded together as dragon and dragonrider, but the show yet again ignored this. Jon didn't give a toss about Rhaegal dying despite saving the world together a couple of weeks before. Also wouldn't Rhaegal have stayed near Jon rather than keep to Dany's side? Anyway, yes cool scene.
I like how the dragon hits the water in front of the boats before hitting the ships gets the water boiling 🥵 Also how intense the heat was that it would cut right threw everything like a sedaline torch!!!
if David and dan had any brains, she would have done that long before loosing Yara, Elaria, and later on, Rhaegal and Missandae. In fact, she would've helped Yara destroy Euron as soon as she had gotten to Westeros, because 1st, she promised, and 2nd, it would get one of the enemies out of the way and it would have secured the Iron islands and Dorne. I swear I wish I could turn bak time to rewrite season 7 and 8, with Dany taking kings landing first and then helping out in the north, and then ruling as the good and mighty queen. They legit made her put off taking the red keep for so long, that Euron and his bastards had time to build hundreds of scorpions (honestly, if she had attacked right away, she would not even need an army. her and her three dragons would have price sly destroyed Cersei's army in a heartbeat, no casualties on her side), not to mention her turning into a villain FOR NO REASON. In fact, Imagine Dany as the queen, Sansa as the warden of the north (I would have made them friends), Elaria, Brienne, Yara and Arya all sitting at one table. Just a bunch of badass women ruling Westeros.
@ T. Bui Thanks! I've been looking for at least ONE scorpion that fired other than Euron's; it's so bizarre to see and hear absolutely nobody retaliating! XD Now that I've reviewed, I think between 1:31 and 1:35, both scorpions fire before Drogon razes them. 0.25 speed makes it easier to see. The projectiles are really thin, so there are probably a couple more we may have missed.
I love how you notice little details which have you wondering sometimes if the writers meant to do it or if it was blind luck lol.
@nightmoose
At first I thought Dany was going to have a clever strategy to deal with the fleet without going out in the open, but she just rushes at them and gets away with it just because it's her and Drogon. Viserion and Rhaegal were really done dirty.

Aegon was certainly a better tactician than her
At a high cost tho
You can't really compare Drogon to Balerion. Drogon was a rather small dragon even compared to the dragons of the Targaryens (not to speak of Old Valerya, of which we have little information). Drogon was only a few years old at this point, while Balerion was almost a century.

Budget. Two dragons in one scene a whole lot more costly.
That’s so smart. Never thought about it.
Makes more sense than Euron hiding behind a damned rock she couldn't see.
This was easily the moment that irked me the most.
I love that Jamie mentioned her having 3 to Cersei after seeing Drogon at Highgarden. Yeah, she had 3, but she only needed one to destroy you.
Still woulda been nice if Rhaegal hadn’t died so ridiculously just to try to even the show’s playing field,
bruh I get pissed every time I think about this😕
It’s so unnecessary.
I believe in the books Rhaegal and Viscerion survive along with Drogon. I didn't like that they killed them off.
Or just attack at night
Yes indeed 3shot they did indeed get that one right *3shot, a scorpion cant be accurate 3 times in a row from the sea in such a long distance *3 shot
Even if she did come out of the sun it wouldn’t be blinding to everyone.
nah, the iron fleets crew kind of forgot how to use scorpions
My question is why didn’t Dany utilize Drogon’s black scales to camouflage into the darkness of the night so they couldn’t see him, a deadly fire breathing shadow like Toothless from how to train your dragon
She wouldn't have been able to see the things shot at her and wouldn't be able to avoid them. Day was better
"So here I am, with 1,000 ships," Euron grins, "and two good hands."
Brings less than 100 to largest battle.
It strikes me Euron was a bit of a liar tbh.

Imagine if Danny had first done all this then asked all the Northmen to retreat south and fight the Walkers from Dragon Stone and the iron islands.
That would have made too much sense ...
This was such a beautiful scene for dany. I can feel her just wanting to kill all of them for the hurt she went thru..... she had loyal soldiers to defend her... she became the mad queen but can you blame her??..
can people stop saying she was mad
@@freevidz100 if you are a targaryen you are mad
@@migue4568 that Is not how it works
Yes you can blame her because She killed way to much defensless people
Soldier : Fire
Drogon : Yes, it is fire baby 🔥🔥
2:18 One guy called in sick for work that day 😂
Euron kinda forget he could snipe a Dragon in the neck from across the realms on a rocky boat
Isn't it great how Kings Landing went from being next to the sea and then in a desert, like nobody would notice.
I hummed the Jaws movie theme when Drogon was coming like a 747 very
I love how the Dothraki just slice right through the fully armored Lannister soldiers. Very realistic 😂
Drogon: good day hoomans may I take your order?
Humans: Fire!
Drogon: say no more!
I think I would have rather watched an entire episode of the Iron Bank reacting to all the money they've lost funding plot lines that went no where.
She did all that with no saddle
Drogon destroying Iron Fleet was the most satisfying secene of season 8
Imagine doing this with 3 dragons instead of 1
The invincible and legendary Golden Company. They have this killer rep, and they're in the fight for about three seconds.
One of the most satisfying kill of Drogon
That war was just Epic and Glorious, the most glorious act of Daenerys in Battle.
Does anyone know what the name of the song in this scene is because I can't seem to find it in the official soundtrack for season 8
Jaime: If the living win and we betray them, they march south and kill us all.
3:27 i could imagine a medieval soldier to look this shocked if we somehow time travel and airstriked his entire army with an AC-130 lol
if David and dan had any brains, she would have done that long before loosing Yara, Elaria, and later on, Rhaegal and Missandae.
Its funny when they said FIRE AND THE DRAGON FIRED 😅😅
The amount of power Daenerys held in this scene. Good or bad , you know who is incharge now
Young Griff disapproves
Welp... it's been several years now and I finally realized that another ship actually fired a scorpion besides Euron's. (0:59 bottom right)
0:59 a melhor cena dessa temporada começa aqui kk
A música mdsss
once you hear the wings flap, it's already too late.
"FIRE!!"
"I'm on it!"
I'll never understand how she couldn't see the Iron fleet the first time from the sky, but this time she can.
A really epic moment....but I'm pretty sad with the final of series...
Euron before Daenerys’s attack : Whe can win, I believe in you my crew
Euron after Daenerys’s attack : I LIED! I NEVER BELIEVED IN ANYTHING!!1! 😱
Of course, they would have yelled "shoot," or maybe "loose." The command to "fire" started in the age of ... well ...*fire*arms.
I love how you notice little details which have you wondering sometimes if the writers meant to do it or if it was blind luck lol. Euron struggling to see through the clouds showing that Dany strategically waited for cloud cover. The hunter became the hunted when a sneak attack was off the table. Dany and Drogon went to work on dat ass lol! I love it!!
I love how Drogon goes on beast mode and releases his full potential against the fleet.. He really wanted to avenge Rhaegal after all..
