Weber's stuff looks awesome. I have been to his coffee shops in Fukuoka, JP, and it's pretty cool to see all his equipment at work. For my money, I really like the Option O stuff. I think the aesthetic is cleaner and the sound of the motor is less high pitched.

It’s shameful that people put up with stalling issues on a $4000 grinder and it’s pathetic that Weber ships a device so drastically underpowered at that price point.

It’s plenty powerful enough. The stalling is mainly to save burrs. Example if a rock is in your beans (I’ve never had that happen but I’ve heard of it) it will stop it from grinding protecting everything. Sometimes beans are hard. Only had it happen once and they fixed in on the newer version

@@Evan_Rodgers Don’t own one, but understand it’s not an issue “hot starting” which is all I’d do anyway. Also read it stems from a motor protection circuit which might be a bit overzealous rather than an underpowered motor.

There are many reviews and use where it stalls, especially on light roast.

do you get high pitch sound often. I just got a new one and sometimes i have to fiddle with the step ring to stop the high pitch sound. I have tried to re-align, but I feel I have to get it perfect to stop it. But even then I have it come back and forth. Obviously if i move it higher up numbers it goes, but to espresso around 4.8 making sound. My zero is about 1.7

I've had mine for almost a year, probably only stalled 3 times? Not really an issue though to be honest. I love mine, makes fantastic coffee, very easy and straight forward on swapping the burrs out. It is also a showpiece, nearly everyone that comes over comments on how cool it looks.

The black shirt, cap, and glasses you are wearing alongside the Onyx EG-1 makes it look like you are a rapper recording a new track on a giant microphone.

@ I’m even debating with the craig lyn hg1-prime as the blurr are not coated and may suit more by milk based espresso

@ it’s a lot cheaper and a hard choice. I like the customer service rep so I’m leaning toward a Weber again

I'm so dissatisfied with the Ceado E37Z HERO. Paid over $5k for it. Pains me to shop for another grinder, but I need to.

@@CabeensCoffeeCornerHad a small wooden knob come off. I was able to fix it, but first inquired about a replacement part. Ceado basically said, don’t bother us, contact your dealer. My dealer reached out to them on the price. $300!! How’s that for customer service on a $5k+ grinder. F them.

I don’t have the EG1, but another grinder from Weber called the Key and have had a fair share of quality issues and customer service issues. The driver has failed multiple times and wires and components needed to be swapped each time to bring it back to life. Working with customer service was difficult; 100 emails and months of combined time with the grinder inoperable. I haven’t heard those issues with the EG1 but the Key, although beautiful, it was a regrettable purchase.
