- In light of… recent events, I cannot believe I and other deaf people have to keep telling hearing people over and over again that hearing aids are not cures, they do not fix deafness, and I cannot believe (I can) that hearing people are so adamant on telling us that we are wrong like we don’t have first hand experience with these things, and being deaf.

Amen. I totally agree with you hearing aids are not cures and cochlear implants or not cures. I know that also because I have two sets of Bluetooth hearing aids that go behind the ear lift and right ear. And there are the kind for people who are deaf, they can link up to their iPhone. Because my hearing loss is over 100% or over 150%.❤❤️🤟🤟
I totally agree. I wear hearing aids for a moderate hearing loss. They help but will never be able to replace the hearing that was lost and mine has gotten slightly worse over time.
It depends on how the devices are fitted,.. you have to fit them with REM’s to make sure they meet your requirements for your hearing loss or they won’t work as best as they should. Then it should help you hear just as well as someone with normal hearing
Right?!? I had someone assume I was just vain and not wearing my hearing aids because of how much I struggled... Nope I was wearing them but my loss had progressed to the point they were useless. It was so frustrating to be assumed to just not be doing the thing that would "fix" the "problem" when the reality was it was never a "fix" or cure to begin with. Just a tool that can be helpful in some situations for some people.
I hate people who thought I had complete cures when I used a hearing aid. 😂
I agree. Hearing aids won't be an easy fix for everyone. Different people will have different experiences with hearing aids depending on their particular hearing issue.

It differs for everyone. I've multiple videos regarding my hearing aids and my personal experience with them! They work okay for some, great for some, and ended up being a fail for some!

You're still piecing the puzzle together. Because you have to fight all the exterior noise to hear the word and it's only 30 percent sound based and if you don't see the lips it's harder still. Hearing aids are just a tool like glasses and people don't view glasses as a cure... Ugh
I keep telling family members this. I cannot believe that after me saying it umptyzillion times that they STILL don't get it! Stop hiding behind your laptop or talking to me from another room if you want me to understand you!
It really sucks how dependent I am of my cochlear implants I don’t even know how to sign, I was approached by a deaf man today signing and I could tell he was disappointed to see that I suck at asl and I’m feeling on the verge of losing my hearing as I just got cut off by my insurance and my implants are very VERY worn…I’m afraid of what’s to come

This is why I make other adjustments in addition to hearing aids and don't use special programs on my hearing aids.
My Mum has to deal with this all the time!! They only amplify the sound she can hear!!!
That’s understandable. Totally understandable. My area in trying to get connected with hearing aids with iPhone because audiologist(s) suggested that it will work, yet after numerous attempts, it will undo and not recognize my ‘devices’ so it basically just ‘undeaf’ with no assessabilities. The problems started when too many people tried to ‘morphed’ both Deaf equipments with hearing telephone with no recognition of the difference between the two because of digital electronic and internet. Everyone wants both digital electronic and internet, yet lousy about services. I cannot even find my hearing aids. Others preferred to believe the lies that damaged so much deprived from other resources that become too much for some people. There are some companies that sells ‘bogus’ hearing aids that are outside of the regular offices of the audiologist(s) which is very misleading and damaging to the Deaf communities, even to deprived people from jobs.
My thoughts exactly. Hearing aids and cochlear implants are not cures. They are just tools to help out once in a while. I’m okay with that.

Yes! This!!!! Even Cochlear implants are NOT a cure. I have CI on one side, and it’s not a cute- just a tool like glasses.

Depends on the person and their type of hearing loss and how much, and what their program is.

It differs for everyone. I've multiple videos regarding my hearing aids and my personal experience with them! They work okay for some, great for some, and ended up being a fail for some! I didn't have the "omg cry what a miracle" moment that the feel good edited videos tend to show people. It was just, okay cool hey my interpreter is loud, lmao. And outside is loud lol. Wear them for too long and I get hearing fatigue and headaches. But watching One Tree Hill for the 32nd time for Julian Baker and Brooke Davis is 10x better, won't lie about that hahahahah
