My advice to anyone who moving to the Philippines bring your own spices from home. You can make local ingredients taste like home cooking on the cheaper side.
Its good of you sharing your past experiences.. Hoping that you can have some time to visit other places in the Philippines. Enjoy each day of your stay wherever you are in our country!
Born and raised Canadian, moved to the province 3 years ago. I miss the sliced deli meats, steaks, bratwurst, pepperoni sticks, craft beer, poutine, good pizza etc. But I immersed myself into the local culture and foods here in the Philippines. Many foods like chicken and pork here are so fresh and high quality. Also the veggies are grown in the ground here and taste so much better than the greenhouse grown or imported foods from USA or Mexico. The sunshine and warm weather is so amazing here compared to the bone chilling cold back in Canada. I actually feel healthier here than back in Canada. The slower pace of life here is refreshing - everyone walks so slowly seemingly without a care in the world, and the smiles! Wow! Love it here 🥰
From Buffalo NY, Agreed, I visit Southern Honduras every year which has a beautiful semi tropical climate and the people are so friendly, helpful and genuine ! and the pace of life is slower too !!

It's always a challenge to be a foreigner in the Philippines. It's the same when Filipinos working abroad. Nothing beats the feeling to be in your homeland, but I understand that life's challenges pushes people to move elsewhere.
@Gregory-Masovutch Bukidnon might better than Tagaytay, since Mindanao doesn't get hit by typhoons that often. There are also some parts of Davao with similar temps with Bukidnon
I lived in the Philippines for seven years, from September 1998 to Sep 2005. Came over from the US to see if the girl I was writing to was real, and whether the thirty years between us made in difference. I liked her so much in person that we married straight away. She made my life in the Philippines rather pleasant, and bore us two beautiful daughters. Now we live in the US, but she goes back to the Philippines now and then to see her family. Would I want to live in the Philippines forever? probably not. Would I follow her if she wanted to retire to the Philippines. Probably .
The yearly medical, exit clearance are they looking for a form signed by dr. or what and how long is it good.I mean say you want to get some blood work done and stuff checked anyway can all this be done 1 visit

I'm ok showing visa and passport I'm on tourist. not sure about photos?
Fast food us franchised far cheaper than in usa. Big mac meal $4.00. only in big cities do you find usa quality food. Movies, music. Cebu. Ililo. Bacalod. Davao city. Cagayen de oro, boracay. Tacloban or bohol panglao, tagbileran. Avoid manila Subic is good. Baguio for pine forest feel...less yrees hehee
Dude please move to Thailand or Vietnam it would be a greater upgrade, I could not handle the way dogs were treated in the Philippines i had to leave. I moved to koh samui
Hi Steve, you covered all bases. Well said. I find the Philippines people male or female good to get along with personality that is what I found. I would like to take my wife back but she doesn’t want too. Yes friend spot on yes they like sing and having a drink 😂. Takecare mate best nest to the family mate. Daddy daddy 😂
You are right, there are good and bad women everywhere...but it's much easier to not only meet a good woman, but to find a smart and pretty woman that is interested in you, in the Philippines. Filipinas are special...if you meet the right one, she will also be smart, patient, and have a good sense of humor. She will help to steer you in the right direction and keep you out of trouble. She will also save you a ton of money. Most importantly she will be trustworthy and take care of you until the end. Filipinas in general, take their marriage vows very seriously. It's not like in the USA where there is a more than 50% divorce rate. Bless those good Filipinas!
I told my wife to use my debit card for funeral and expenses and when social security sends proof of life just ignore it and it stop. However my state nurse pension could deposit longer because in 25 years they only did proof of life 1x. I told her when you do stop do not pay any of my usa cards or answer pension questions. My truck is in my and her name and no Philippines debt. Our house os a small farm she does care for and bakes cakes for events . She raises pigs. Geese, turkeys. Goats. Chickens. Cows so she will survive as she plans. Our daughters will help her. Her choices.
With the Kareoke thing. Can you use that content in your own videos, or does copy right stop you from showing you and yours from showing your efforts on video.
@Philippinedreaming I thought as much. Would any social media company take it down if you put a video up (stop you from putting it on), or would it just be demonetised.
I've personally had a pretty bad experience living here, I wouldn't really raise kids here just from my experience, don't do schooling in the sticks, America is great its awesome, the Philippines is really just not for stuff like that. Good retirement place sure, but not a great place to raise kids imo
Depends where you live. If you live in the slums then yaaahh noo... But if in the gated subdivision or provinces you'll have the most respectful and happy children
The beef here is not the same as beef in the US. I like hamburger, but most is not processed correctly. Some Robensons stores are ok. Best to get a grinder and get cuts of pure fat and pure meat then grind it yourself. The cooked rice cooled for hours and reheated, in the markets or family pot lucks are subject to bacterium known as Bacillus cereus causing food poisening.
@@Philippinedreaming I am just recovering from a nice new stainless steel foodstand that I though must be safe. 10k peso for an IV and 3 weeks said differently.
As far as I know, there are laws against dogs roaming on the streets. Check the local barangay regarding this. Also, I hear chocolates and raisins are not good for dogs.
I love the PH However, I live in the NCR and the moment a native gets behind the wheel or mounts a motorcycle they turn into frothing mad animals who only care about what is directly in front of them (and the fastest way to pass them). The majority of the drivers are dangerous, reckless, some not even legal, and only interested in where they are going.
You're safer their than the west for sure.that's a fact .people there are more respectful. No mass shooting .you can walk there even late night .i live in the big city of manila from California .no issue .In the usa u can't walk their late at night .they'll shot or stabbed u.mostly in the big city in the usa.tents homeless, alcohol drugs everywhere. That's a fact .its all over the news .
I am part Filipino and hate living in the Philippines so much I don't miss it at all. Can't imagine western people live out in the province areas especially. For me I was born north of Manila in very poor area but love living in Vancouver Canada now. Way better life and make so much more money than I ever would back home. It was terrible back living I am actually admire older folks able to tolerate my country's short comings.
gees. suprising. everyone is looking for something different. philippines has so much to offer if you can accept the country. alot of older men love the country
@foreignermakingmoney-phili1458 I am just blunt and honest. It's a very poor country on the world scale. Extreme over population, many need toy work overseas as OFW. It's a poor place to invest. Life expectancy is barely 70. Not good
It's nice to see an older expat actually embrace the things that the majority complain about. I was there for a month, and I quite liked the 'chaotic' nature there, there was something interesting everywhere you looked. The noise never bothered me, people were social and happy, unlike the west, and I'm leaving the west to get as far away from that culture as possible.
My advice about moving to the Philippines is this: learn the culture first, live like the culture! I lived on a farm for a year just like them with nothing! Once you learn the culture you might not agree with the eating dogs and other things your not use too! The Philippines is a big farm and your the farmer growing your own food! Your income determines your life style so if you don't have an income don't come here, you will not be able to run a small business, the locals won't give you there business! Elliot Eastman was kidnapped and murdered because a small group of jealous people saw him opening up an Internet hit spot and was doing loans . Every area is different so it can be good or bad.. and keep.in mind the the countries biggest number one problem is mental health and it's a fact! That means your surrounded by legally crazy people! The mental problem comes from incest, that's big here, it's just not talked about, I know the dirt of the Philippines, you see it over the years, my advice and I'm being real honest is too move to Bali or Saipan, the living cost is the same! Saipan is USA and it's Five hours from Manila and Bali is in Indonesia and it's 6 hours from Manila. Wipe the Philippines out your mind! There's better places. I'm moving to Saipan in March 2025
If youre a foodie like me, PH food will crush your soul. Lowest quality, taste, and their recipe for some reason is MORE SUGAR. Dont you like your fish to taste like a donut???😢 I lived in 101 countries for more than 3 months and the only country with worse food is Myanmar
My advice to anyone who moving to the Philippines bring your own spices from home. You can make local ingredients taste like home cooking on the cheaper side.
