Hard to believe the man being interviewed is this mega star, David Bowie. He's like the guy next door. Much love, admiration and respect. You will definitely live forever in our hearts. R.I.P. David Bowie 🎶🎬🎵
I would say it did, the man was still working on music the week before he passed, which is amazing. Of course he stopped doing shows live and left recording for awhile, but leaving that to be a dad is my fav thing about Bowie, among many others. I think he left behind more than enough great live shows and a body of work greater than any other artist. I think his voice was much better after he stopped doing live shows. He was singing with power on the Next Day and on the original version of Sue. At some point every artist goes on break, his was only really 2 years actually, he did no music work in 2008 and 2009, then 2010 started working on the Next Day.
so cool he mentions all those awesome "underground" artists like Pixies, Mercury Rev, Grandaddy and Flaming Lips. oh what a beautiful & inspiring human he still is.
i love how he always supported the underground bands/artists, hip hop artists, and the weird/eccentric artists. throughout his whole career. he was always on their side.
God he’s beautiful. The smile is divine. He’d be one of my 12 dinner guests if I had the opportunity of inviting 11 other people from any where, through any age. Definitely Mr Bowie.
Modern artists take note, this is an iconic artist, done everything, world famous, but very grounded and a down to earth guy, one guy that makes me proud of being English 👍❤️
Yup. & they've learned nothing in the UK either!! There simply is no respect for proper artists. Radio & TV suckkk! I can go to a bar & watch somebody talented playing open-mic for nothing or watch an untalented "celebrity" TRYING to sing to win some sort of X-factor glory!! No contest
Bowie predicted the direction that music was going and here we are with the majority of pop music all sounding alike and being written for all the popular "artists" by the same two song writers who use the same electronic drum beats on most of the songs. Future Heart, thank you for posting this video and thank you to David Bowie for all his prolific and outstanding contributions to music and art and the impact he had on all of our lives through his inspiring performances.
David Bowie, such a BEAUTIFUL BEING, an artist talented, creative, joyful, playful, awesome, truthful, SANE!! And the VOICE!! one of the best people on Earth. no one has that much strength and honesty these days! Thanks a lot sir, a true gentleman!
Such a lovely, lovely, intelligent and genuine, kind hearted man, with a great sense of humour and of course brilliant singer and musician...God bless you David. Its still SO hard to get my head around that you no longer walk amongst us. Rest in peace, your work here is done xxx
The Flaming Lips were “underground” and “under the radar” yet they have produced some of most important, emotional and creative songs of the modern era. Love that Bowie appreciates the psych rock legends.
He was my first gig in July 1973 & amongst the first singles I purchased were ‘Starman’ & ‘All the Young Dudes’ like most on here I miss him, as for the interviewer getting pissed that Bowie keeps interrupting him - live with it! It’s David Bowie plus with all respect people didn’t click on this for the interviewer!
Charming, relaxed, attentive, knowledgeable, funny , a typical 'later' David Bowie interview in fact ! We're so fortunate to have his amazing body of work forever !
Fucking David Bowie... He managed to stay fresh, stay relevant, and he's always, always worth listening to. So alive, so interesting, so so horribly missed!
DAVID BOWIE WE MISS YOU SO MUCH! He is always so brilliant and funny in interviews! This is another great one. I also just watched the Rosie O'Donnell one, where he sings China Girl, but changes it to 'Rosie girl' Aww!!
I just... love him so much. He's so open in talking about his failures, he has no shame in his discussion about Tonight and Never Let Me Down. Not only that, but he doesn't appear upset about it. This interviewer came dangerously close to slandering Let's Dance though lmao, he was still the shit on that album
I bought the Pixies album Doolittle in 1989 after I read a review in the paper and played it again over and over and over. Still one of my fave albums ever. I loved Bowie as well. He clearly had such a good taste in music.
I own ALOT of albums on CD. Anywhere from Grateful Dead,ELO, Bob Dylan, Tame Impala, a bunch more and I’ll say that Doolittle is the best album ever. !
if i ever interveiwed this lovely man. id listen to evry story he has. and i domt think id be able to ask questions because id be gazing into his eyes😅 love and miss him so much
I wish i wouldve been more into bowie. My dad always played bowie when i was young and i knew all the hits . Im glad he was still alive during my grade school days. Its not until now that im listening to all of his older stuff.
He's totally right when he says the radio just plays crap. It's all corporate radio nowadays. Record labels own radio stations and only play the songs they want you to hear. It's actually quite sad when you get down to it.
@Jack K yeah, and he just keeps plowing ahead despite all of them.. I have seen at least half dozen ones that way but the earlier ones --the interviewer including Dick Cavett -- he was so high and unruly
He is awesome. Nice to see some celebs are down to earth and decent. Hope there is still some more out there. Labyrinth was really my only experience of Bowie. He was something else.
He was Fantastic in Labyrinth but if that's the only way you know him YOU'RE MISSING OUT!!! Go get ChangesOneBowie, play the hell out of it. You'll LOVE HIM!!! Sadly missing this Fantastic man. RIP Bowie, see you in Heaven one day? For Love of the Music Dawn. ✌️ ☮️
The moment at 2:40 amazed yet frightens me a little bit since it was true. A whole album during his 18 month fight of cancer wasn't enough. He even bloody thought of making another album right after Blackstar and he already recorded at least 3 songs iirc, as tony Visconti said, one of them was called "blaze" or it was a Blackstar outtake.
He had a great British sense of humour....I noticed even the interviewer didn't get David's best answer to his question..."there's a common denominator between you, Dylan and Springsteen". David's answer: "Yeh, the clothing !" Hahahaha so sharp.
Un uomo veramente intelligente che sa sempre cosa rispondere....simpatico e cordiale....un artista che ama il suo pubblico....ci manca il tuo sorriso e la tua voce Ziggy....love you Bowie
He is so cute and so smart. There was a terrible shift in the 80's with VH1, and MTV. It was fun, the videos creative, however, Hollywood suddenly took over and songs had and to a certain percent still have a sameness to the sound. The women are super sexual and protesting provocative songs are less prevelant. We have our heads buried in the cell phones, Internet , Instagram,
Si en aquel entonces ya decía que sonaba basura en la radio, se volvería a morir de pena si escucha lo que se oye en la actualidad .... Hablo del 2023😢
BowieNet & Me: Getting the chance to be in this studio audience (8H, the SNL one) by being a member of his remarkably visionary internet 'fan club' (free, btw) was one of the highlights of my Bowie life. Guess I should try to figure out how to upload the full musical performance included of my VHS copy of this 'Carson Daly Show' since no one else has. But this wasn’t even the highlight of that weird post 9/11 thank gawd I’ve got Bowie to get through this 2002 year. The real highlight was the BowieNet show at Roseland June, 11, 2002. The first time he did 'Low' live front to back, plus a killer 2nd set. That my husband & I ended up being placed in the photographers pit front center because of his broken foot is one of the many 'Bowie Miracle Moments' I was lucky enough to have. He, Iman, & Lexie had moved into their new Lafayette St. penthouse in 1999, right around the corner from our (very much missed) former Prince St. apt. Running into him at the 'SoHo Garden' Korean deli & just on the street would make my heart leap. Never bothered him, but it was so wonderful when we gave each other a nod & a smile. I miss you, David. Thanks for so much music, & so many shows- stadiums, arenas, theaters, & even 'The World' nightclub for Tin Machine's June, 14, 1989 mini-tour opening date. Thanks for more than you’ll ever know...
Bowie was such a gem......and such a sweet man
Combination of HEAVEN,don't you think? A genius and a gentleman.

"I'm just going to get older and older and older, and never stop singing!" How I wish it would have happened that way!
+lestrange I thought exactly the same thing :'-( Absolutely heartbreaking...
+lestrange Well,he never stopped singing until he died!He just stopped touring and did'nt sing as much as he did before his heart attack!
+lestrange It did happen that way.
He didn't let them do it to him really, as he said he just kept singing right to the end.

Almost every girl/woman I've ever dated was in SO much with him - good for all of them :)
I agree. He‘d definitely be one of the first people i‘d invite. David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, Freddy Mercury, immediately invited
My all time favorite man David Bowie!!!
If he hadn’t got cancer he’d still be making albums!!! No one can even come close to him!!
Man... He really was THE BEST. I miss him.
Me too. Saw him in concert.
@@bethbabiniyoure so lucky

David Bowie's voice is incredible! The tone is awesome!

Harry Styles has studied him and is showing some of his adoration by the way he dresses now.
Bowie will go down as one of ,if not thee greatest artist and influencer of music

Stop listening to the radio then, that’s not the only way to find music. Its probably the worst way to find modern music lol.
This beautiful man touched my soul so deeply. I will love and miss him forever and ever.

A show that actually allows for the guest to speak, and share - ultimately it’s what the audience appreciates.

That was so humbly hilarious! For a guy with such a complex & eclectic musical catalogue, his humor was straight "less is more".
His level of wit was just off the charts. I love how he venerated the pixies from early on in their career.

Recently watched Reznor induct The Cure into R&R the hall of fame. Loving the fact he always supported great music like Bowie and The Cure.
Reznor has repeatedly said that his friendship with Bowie & the support he gave him was the reason he got clean.
What a fine body of work you left sir! Your work is done.
